Eliteserien Asian Handicap Match Previews – 24th November Sunday
Odd v Tromsø
Prior to the international break Odd suffered a really poor 0-2 defeat away at Brann. They simply didn’t look up for the fight in cold conditions against a physical team. In some ways it rather sums up their season though and away results have been a constant hinderance. Rosenborg are now hot on their heels and only two wins in their last two games would guarantee a medal position and European football for next season. There’s still a chance of a silver medal spot if Bodø/Glimt collapse in front of them. Odd have had their issues on the road but have a very formidable home record in 2019, winning 11 out of 14 matches at the Skagerak Arena with three draws and no defeats. They are a completely different beasts in front of their own fans.
Tromsø have had a few good days on their travels this year, but also numerous bad ones. TIL have lost a whopping 10/14 times on the road and conceded a huge 38 goals in the process. They are desperately fighting against relegation at the moment and that is a factor which can’t be ignored. But I wasn’t very impressed with their performance at home to VIF in their last match, nor in recent away losses to Sarpsborg & Viking. I personally think Tromsø still have enough of a cushion down at the bottom and one last home match vs Stabaek next week which they might already be focusing on. Sometimes in these end of season games you just have to look at the logical scenario. Odd are the better team, have a superb home record and are facing one of the worst travellers. Backing Odd on a -1 Asian Handicap makes a lot of sense to me. I expect them to have a fairly comfortable time of it even though there is pressure on both sides.
Asian Handicap Betting Recommendation: Odd -1.00 at 1.900
Bodø/Glimt v Kristiansund
It was gutting for Bodø/Glimt but they lost 2-3 with seconds remaining against Rosenborg in their last match. That defeat could cost them European football for next season but destiny is still in their own hands. With a strong goal difference one more victory, either at home to Kristiansund now, or Molde away next week would probably see them secure a medal spot. Obviously, the much easier task is beating KBK in this upcoming fixture. Glimt have only lost once at home all season and scored a massive 36 goals in front of their own fans in 2019 which is an average of over 2.5 per game. They have constantly entertained fans at Aspmyra although 3 recent draws out of 4 haven’t been ideal. We know Glimt can have a soft underbelly defensively which is why Stabaek and Haugesund managed to secure 3-3 and 2-2 draws at this venue respectively.
Kristiansund have been in fairly good form recently, as they often are at this stage of the season. However, their last three away games haven’t been particularly great and the last time they ventured this far north resulted in a horror 0-5 loss at Tromsø. Will they be up for it here? Glimt are going to be highly motivated, have no team selection issues and I wouldn’t want to put off anyone backing them on a -1.25 Asian Handicap. I’m expecting a home victory but things are getting tense in the battle for 2nd and 3rd place so I prefer to back the overs. Usually, Kristiansund are good for at least one goal and like to play positive. We know that Bodø/Glimt only really play one way, on the front foot with intent. Something like a 2-0 or 3-0 scoreline does worry me a little bit if KBK decide to produce another stinker. But overall I see this being a strong over fixture.
Asian Total Goals Betting Recommendation: Over 3.25 goals at 2.010
