The Boruto manga has continued!

Thoughts about the new chapter... well, first of all:

Sarada's new design sucks. No, just no. The only good thing I see is the new location of his headband; it kinda... adds a personal touch, I guess?

It was interesting to hear that she's still a genin. There's no way they haven't had any chuunin exams in the past three years, and I find it hard to believe that our magnekyou sharingan carrying Uchiha wouldn't be strong enough to pass, so what happened? Is she not allowed to take the exam because of her "attitude", or does she refuse to take one without Boruto? The later one might be the case... hm, I wonder what they'll do with this scene in the anime, where Sarada is already a chuunin. Will she get demoted? Or will they change it to "you'll never be a jounin?"

Second:

I don't like the idea of Shikamaru as the hokage. I mean, it does make perfect sense, but... no, just no.

Kawaki... well, that is Kawaki. He doesn't look all that good, but he looks like himself, unlike Sarada.

Sumire hasn't changed much, but her new outfit is better than the old one.

Mitsuki... I would say that he looks bad and not at all like himself, but the later isn't completely true; he always looked kinda bad in the manga, so I'll hold my judgement on this one until we see the animated version.

As for Chou Chou, the outfit is great with all the butterflies, but just like with Mitsuki, I don't like her manga design. Hopefully, she'll look better in the anime.

As for these two, they... er... got new clothes? Kinda plain, though I suppose it's good that our Baby Pig finally ditched the overalls. He also lost the baby fat that was on his face in the manga. And I think he might've cut his hair:

I hope I'm wrong.

Himawari's design on the other hand caught me by surprise with it's perfection. I'm so glad they didn't put her in a tiny dress like Sarada or tiny shorts like Eida. Glad to see something different!

Also, good to see she hasn't lost her faith in Boruto... but I find it interesting that there is no headband. Is she not a shinobi?

As for Boruto, he looks like... well, Boruto. That's him alright, Blondie from episode one. His face still got some baby fat, but that's probably just due to the art style.

Shikamaru as Hokage

Well, my predictions were wrong. Kakashi isn't the new Hokage. Shikamaru is.

The prologue makes this news a little odd, since Shikamaru's face isn't on the cliff. But narratively it makes sense, for a few reasons:

Shikamaru has been Naruto's second-in-command the whole time. He's one of the few who knows about Eida's powers and the Otsutsuki.

It completes Shikamaru's arc as the once-lazy, ambitionless boy who becomes a highly influential shinobi with a lot of responsibility. You can't get much higher on the career ladder than Hokage.

This new arc is about all of Konoha being hostile to Boruto. Whoever is in the Hokage's seat is, by default, going to be the Unreasonable Authority Figure for the teenage cast to fight against. Kakashi is too popular to put in that position, so Shikamaru is taking the fall.

Boruto Two Blue Vortex - Chapter 1

i love the naruto series and care about these characters and truly wanna see it shine, which is my main reason for doing this. if you end up thinking and seeing this as hate or a bad thing for differing opinions, then simply ignore my posts please !!

alright !! boruto two blue vortex chapter 3 is right around the corner so here i have my review for chapter 1 !! i really took forever to do this sksk T_T

LONG POST + SPOILERS AHEAD

anyway, the chapter opens up with sarada mouthing off shikamaru… who is the new hokage… yikes. lmao sorry. it’s weird seeing shikamaru on the hokage seat sksk

i honestly find it kind of… dumb (??) that she’s arguing with this man about boruto’s innocence. like, it’s been three years and this is all you’ve been doing?? really?? just arguing with shikamaru when you know he won’t budge because his memories were altered?? truly makes no sense when you factor in the fact sarada knows the truth and that boruto is the hokage’s son and kawaki is the one konoha wants dead and the “traitor”, not boruto

“he became hokage while still a genin. my role model is lord seventh… not you.” — please don’t tell me this implies sarada will remain a genin and become hokage despite being a genin to make her exactly like naruto ??!! the writing isn’t kind to sarada T_T

kawaki goes to check on naruto and hinata. obvi this was put in so us as the reader can know what’s going on there…

the scene then cuts back to konoha. sarada mentions how harsh she was and how her words didn’t work again. she knows this isn’t shikamaru’s fault… this goes back to my initial question, why have you been arguing with him for the past three years if you know he won’t budge?? this writing i swear T_T

sumire mentions how omnipotence makes everyone think she and sarada are weird for having different memories and how it made kawaki naruto’s son and sarada mentioned boruto is the outsider and how at first everyone had doubts and now they’re truly convinced of the swap. i like that this is mentioned. it explains the situation so we know what’s going on. cool cool

next scene, eida tells the girls to give up because it’s hopeless. can’t say i blame her. the situation does look that way. she does mention they started understanding how omnipotence works and how it came to be and the result: everyone’s memories about boruto and kawaki altered because the two’s lives’ were swapped

i do personally think it’s odd sarada and sumire just let eida know they weren’t affected ?? like why would you let her know that? now she’s suspecting they might not even be affected by her charm ability at all and we clearly see sumire recalling shikamaru’s words from three years ago. he specifically states not to let her and dameon know or else their lives are in danger, so why let her know your memories weren’t altered?

also, these panels and the time when it was first discovered sarada and sumire aren’t affected by eida’s charm ability imply they might be the ones to take down eida. i sure hope that’s true. the girls need a major fight and some time on the spotlight. let them team up and fight her. eida doesn’t even know how to fight so it should be an easy win considering how underdeveloped the entire female cast is. there should be no need to have someone save them

kawaki and mitsuki: the first thing we see is kawaki telling mitsuki to take the blood thirst down a notch. kawaki assures mitsuki boruto can’t hide from him. mitsuki insists on wanting to protect kawaki and killing boruto… and kawaki let’s him have his way with killing boruto, just doesn’t want him following him around. notice how mitsuki is going to tell him something but is cut off by the person on the mic??

could this imply omnipotence will be broken somehow ?? because we all know kawaki isn’t mitsuki’s sun. it’s boruto

kawaki leaves to where the claw marks were found. mitsuki stays behind and he says to himself that kawaki is his sun. again, we as the readers know he actually means boruto cuz kawaki and boruto swapped places. i personally find it kind of… bittersweet we see this side of mitsuki. he’s saying it to himself and not around kawaki because again, kawaki is NOT HIS SUN. those are words meant to be heard by boruto, NOT kawaki (brb imma go cry. bring this man back his boruto)

scene cuts to himawari training with chocho. i love this part !! even though it’s just training, i’m happy to see them in some type of action. hopefully they get major fights as a team up or something :3 i love how shikadai and inojin come into the picture and give hima compliments. team ten really support her growing as a ninja♡

i love that we also get to see things from himawari’s perspective. she wants to help boruto (from our POV as the reader, we know she truly means kawaki) and how he’s different than how she remembers him. shikadai reminds her boruto (kawaki) killed her dad, but himawari doesn’t think he did so because she (and us) witnessed the time kawaki saved her and naruto from delta, so she believes a person like that is not capable of murdering naruto. she follows up by saying IF boruto (kawaki) truly did kill naruto, then he’d be in deep trouble, but she feels like her father is still alive somewhere and we all know kawaki truly didn’t kill him. he merely sealed him away in some other dimension (and himawari, sis, why aren’t you mentioning your mother ??)

next scene we have kawaki eliminating claw marks !! seems the jonin know about code’s grudge against boruto (which we all know they mean kawaki cuz of omnipotence) and suspect he’s prioritizing fighting him over the village… which makes sense in a way?? like why attack the village when the one you’re after is just one person ??

kawaki then finds the claw mark on the back of the jonin’s neck and tells shikamaru to round up the shinobi hunting down claw marks in one place. lmao i find it so funny how kawaki is literally bossing the hokage around😭😭

“hurry up, master shika” — 😭😭

okay. claw grimes start popping out. they’re like roaches. one comes out and the rest follow suit

next we see kawaki really has the entire village under his control !!

tbh i gotta admire and praise him for this !! he’s really putting in the work to ensure everything is fine and everyone is safe. dare i say, he’d probably make a great hokage. look at the way he’s handling things and as i said, he’s literally bossing the current hokage around. that’s truly admirable xD i guess what makes it funny to me is the fact he’s bossing shikamaru of all people around sksk. if it was konohamaru then… ehhh. he’s konohamaru. but shikamaru ?? lmaooo

next we see sarada knocking down a claw grime. okay good !! we seeing some action from her. yay !! she then realizes the grimes can travel between locations like claw marks using each other. nice

aah. the first meeting

i wonder why it took them this long to meet ?? like seriously. anyway, the two merely talk. i honestly would’ve preferred the two have some sparring match. kind of like a teaser for what’s to come, but alas… that didn’t occur T_T

code arrives informing sarada he’s looking for boruto (kawaki) and has been chasing him for three years. he figured he’d use his friends, whom he still cares about, to lure him out, starting with her. this really tells us code already knew who kawaki’s friends were. this aligns perfectly with the scene prior to the time skip and omnipotence where code swore he’d get rid of everything and everyone kawaki deems precious. he mentioned the hokage (naruto), his friends (in this case sarada as shown in the chapter) and the village. he may be saying boruto, but we as the readers know he truly means kawaki because that’s who he has a grudge against and wants dead. we all know he means kawaki, but he mentions boruto because the two have swapped lives and code is affected by omnipotence

boruto then comes in and tells code “it’s that kind of sick thinking that creeps girls out” — lmaoo i’m sorry WHAT ??!! WHAT. are you serious right now?? this is what boruto can make out of this interaction between code and sarada?? not a “i’m the one you want, so i’m here now. leave my friends out of it” ?? THIS ??!! DAWG. that is… super irrelevant to what we currently have HELP. i suppose it’s said because part of code swearing to destroy everything kawaki deemed precious was eida ?? this goes to show he’s just not gonna get eida so he can forget about it ?? sounds like i’m reaching here and i PROBABLY AM but i don’t know HOW ELSE TO MAKE SENSE OF IT ??

ANYWAYS

kawaki first detects boruto’s chakra, followed by the village and everyone else. everyone is in shock to see him because the supposed “traitor” (which in this case would be kawaki but again, omnipotence made it boruto. sumire truly looks shocked, shikamaru appears troubled and sarada doesn’t even look shocked ?? she just looks… there ?? i don’t even know. at first she’s in disbelief and then she’s just staring there ?? (probably a critique to the art here. it doesn’t show her emotions like at all. if she’s suppose to look shocked… she AIN’T. at least keep the sweat mark like she had at first and the way they did with shikamaru and sumire. why remove it??)

the chapter then ends with kawaki mentioning boruto finally showed up. now i know they definitely got beef because they know the truth about their lives swapping and are the ones living different realities

my overall take is… the chapter is okay. my biggest issue is sarada’s writing. she’s suppose to be smart but she’s doing the oddest moves. why argue with someone you know remembers things differently ?? you know they won’t be dissuade of their memories

my review for chapter 2 will come out in a couple hours. these are fun to make :3

We Need Gaara and Shinki in Konoha

I understand that Kawaki had mental issues because of abused childhood and all , so he was handled all wrong by everyone, Naruto included, how much he tries, he is not right person for it Naruto and Sasuke were neglected children ( no one had abused them physically, aside Naruto’s ostracism , he was never abused mentally and physically ), Sasuke would understand Boruto because of “ had it all then the all was taken away “ The right person to understand Kawaki is Gaara because of the similar abused childhood And I can’t believe that in all this , Gaara didn’t appear. It is like back in Sasuke retrieval arc when Sasuke and Naruto clashed , and Naruto couldn’t connect with him , and when they met in Shippuden, Naruto couldn’t understand yet , only after the war , they finally connected and had heart to heart moment. Naruto could connect with Gaara back in Sasuke retrieval arc , only because of being jinchūriki . which they both were. In here, Naruto should have called Gaara to Konoha when it was clear that Kawaki doesn't listen to them, does it remind you all of another loose canon back in Naruto era ? Naruto trying to bond Kawaki about being outcast , is NOT ENOUGH, this is not gonna cut it, Kawaki needs someone like Gaara to talk to .

And there is Shinki , with whom Boruto had a so good dynamics , Shinki may be the right person to sway Kawaki because of their similarities in being orphans adopted by Kages, particular that Melancholy4Angel reminded me of .

SO WE NEED GAARA AND SHINKI IN KONOHA! I am ranting in Tumblr space , hoping to be heard and so please reblog and reply .🙏

You know. If Sarada and Sumire just talked to Himawari and explained the whole ordeal to her, I bet it wouldn't take much for Himawari to be convinced they're telling the truth

And if they had Himawari on their side, I'm sure they might be able to convince other people because if the Hokage's Daughter knows that there's something not right, then that might let people take a step back and rethink with caution/skepticism?

And we know this is possible since Sarada made Sasuke rethink his stance on killing Boruto despite being under the Omnipotence

I have a hard time believing that both Sarada and Sumire, both normally intelligent characters, have not come up with a better plan to deal with Omnipotence besides "yell at the Hokage for being wrong."

I mean, every adult in this village has experienced an unbreakable illusion before, in the form of the Infinite Tsukuyomi. And most ninja have a passing knowledge of genjutsu. If Himawari and Sarada presented their case to people, it's possible some would reject them as being traumatized little girls. But at least a few of the smarter characters like Shikamaru and Sakura ought to listen.

But then the plot wouldn't happen.

Honestly, I don't think Sasuke should have been able to break free of Omnipotence based on logic alone. The explanation should have been something like "he's traveled to other dimensions, and so the rules of this reality has less of a hold on him" or "he's the only other Sharingan user around besides the Shin clones, who live in the woods and probably have no idea what's going on."

Sasuke Tried-To-Take-Over-The-World Uchiha should not be able to outdo Shikamaru in using cold logic to overrule his emotions.

I’m so excited for the new Boruto!! 🥰 I’m also super anxious that I think imma make myself sick. 🆘 Saw the new Hima design, not sure how I feel abt it. 🤔 NH are stuck looking like they haven’t aged when the rest are continuously aging (although it’s only been 3 years). 🤧 so many feelings. 😮‍💨

What are your thoughts? What direction do you want this to go and where do you think is this headed?

In all honesty, I'm not sure anymore what to expect in the story. Hahaha

I had some theories before but they all kinda went poof especially after the switch happened. I'd probably just wait for Kishimoto/Ikemoto to finish cooking and I'll eat up whatever they'd serve lol

Current thoughts on the TS designs (Especially the outfits):

I think they look good but I also think some of their designs may be a bit impractical/may hinder their movement as shinobi. They do look fashionable though.

For NaruHina: Yeah... They've (unwillingly) become the first users of an anti-aging method c/o Kawaki 😅

Just a few other things I'd like to point out:

3 years had passed since Boruto and Sasuke fled from the village, but Code mentioned he had been chasing Boruto for 2 years. So I'm guessing within the first year he had an encounter with Boruto, and either Boruto or Sasuke inflicted that scar on Code's left eye

Let me also bring up this entrance by Boruto:

Such disrespect my dude 🤣🤣🤣

Other stuff:

So it seems in this part, Hima was recalling the Naruto vs. Delta fight. And even if (let's say the switch didn't happen) it was Kawaki who 'killed' their parents, Hima would still not believe he would do such a thing because she still has that faith in her brothers. I'm so touched by this 😭❤️

This part:

Sure the omnipotence had altered everyone's memories (and it seemed to even gradually wipe other doubts caused by it), but I'm quite curious how it will be when it comes to written records/pictures? Perhaps if people look at documents such as Boruto's birth certificate or photos including him, I'd guess that there'd be some sort of illusion that the affected people would be made to believe that they see Kawaki's name and his image even if the physical documents are still pointing to Boruto's identity? 🤔

We'll just have to wait and see in the coming chapters.
