I never thought I would like this book as much as i like it. This book has been everywhere I go. It was that much hyped. And you know with hype comes great expectations. And with great expectations comes even greater disappointments. Therefore, I went into this book expecting nothing. Then I've read the prologue and I was HOOKED! Olive and Adam's meet-cute story already had me on a hold. 🌿The romance between Olive and Adam developed slowly. The premise to set up the fake dating was a bit silly, but once you get past that, the book is sweet and satisfying. Adam is strict in the beginning, but he soon warms up to Olive's relentless cheer and good-natured teasing. And No one can hate a girl like Olive, She is this amazing girl with amazing personality. Also His support of her in their medical field is particularly touching and it made me root even harder for them. ✨ sunshine-grumpy ✨ fake-dating ✨ slow-burn ✨ workplace romance ✨Ph.D student & professor ✨friends-to-lovers ✨ endless banter and teasing 🌿One thing I'm complaning though is that there are so few romantic scenes between them in the book and when i finished this book last night, I felt so empty and wanted more of these couple. I really wanted a extended epilogue more than life itself. 🌿 Apart from that, This story totally checks all the boxes for me. It's sweet, smart, and very funny and it touched my heart and my mind. I’m on chapter 5 of The City we became by N.K Jemisin and all I can say is what a damn good concept for a book 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾! The story takes place in New York City and the city is alive, yes I said that the city is alive 👀, and not only is it alive, it also has a soul. The city is embodied by five human avatars representing the five boroughs of New York and they have to come together the defeat the enemy. This book IS definitely like nothing I’ve ever read before and that is exactly why I like it. I don’t mind the challenge, I find it refreshing to read something so unique. Spoiler alert 🚨: a little “spoilery” Well I finally finished The Fires of Vengeance and just as I expected, it did not disappoint, this book is epic y’all ! The story picks up right where the Rage of Dragons left off, Tau is broken, battered and seething with vengeance. He joins forces with the ousted Queen Tsiora and has been named the Queen’s champion( protector, guard,leader). Tau and the Queen are trying to delay the inevitable attack on the capital by the people of Xidda. They want to devise a plan that will allow Queen Tsiora to reclaim her throne and Tau wants to find the man that caused the death of his closest friends and family. I was so happy to see a different side of Tau, because in the first book Tau is completely single minded, he wanted to kill EVERYONE that caused him pain. In the second book, though he is still very focused on chasing down his enemies and exacting revenge, he begins to grapple with the effects of living life with pure rage in his heart and mind. Tau takes his mind and body through unimaginable pains and strife to prepare for war and now he is beginning to feel the effects of that preparation. I could go on and on about this book but at the risk of getting too “spoilery” I’m just going to stop there 😁. I believe that there are two more books coming out, which would make it an quartet. I’m so glad that I jumped on the Rage of Dragons bandwagon because, the books just keep getting better.
