I know Trinisphere "always wins", but I have to ask: Trinisphere and Delve: According to the KTK release notes, the CMC on Delve cards stays the same as it "isn’t an additional or alternative cost and applies only after the total cost of the spell with delve is determined." While the old wording strictly states that it reduces the cost, the new wording says that each card exiled "pays for (1)." Trinisphere checks the total cost before costs are paid, correct? tl;dr:Do I still have to pay 3?
No. You make the decision to delve or pay mana for each colorless mana in the mana cost as you pay costs, long after Trinisphere has checked to see what you're paying.
