Not too long ago she had been that way herself and now it just seemed ridiculous to her. It was hard to be the daughter of the town’s Mayor when she no longer cared about any of the superficial things that her family stood for.

“I don’t even want to think about that new subdivision. It’s all my dad has talked about since construction started. How it’s supposed to bring people to Lakewood and really put us on the map.” Brooke didn’t care about her father’s ambitions for the town - she hated how everything on his agenda seemed to be more important than finding the killer. “You’d think we’ve earned the right to have an opinion more than any of them. We’re the ones being targeted by a murderer.”
