Amanda Young gets the exact same complete stan overwrite of canon character that Billy Hargrove gets, for largely the same reasons and same number or lack thereof of canon basis, but that’s apparently not a conversation people are ready to have
#the thing is. taking a character like Michael or Jason who’s canonically mentally ill or disabled & interpreting them through a more#realistic lens instead of the ‘crazy = evil’ they were given - to offset the ableism tropes that cause harm#is actually the opposite of assigning bpd or similar issues to a character that canonically has not got it in an attempt to use that as a#blanket combo excuse and explanation for every horrible thing they’ve done. unreal to me how hard such a basic concept seems to be for some#folks to get#and it’s not a coincidence that the charcaters who get woobiefied 97% of the time are white people that other white people find sexually#attractive. like just be into a horrible villain & accet that weirdo don’t try to pretend they didn’t commit 18 murders because your libido#people do the same nasty thing to sexuality. taking a canonically gay charcater whose otherness is part of their scary was in OG (IE#Sleepaway camp) and making them more humanized to offset the regressive ness of how they were created. is the opposite of taking a shitty#person who is not canonically gay (or worse is canonically or implied to explicitly be straight) and trying to insist they’re gay as some#weird excuse for them doing evil shit. like this isn’t a hard concept to grasp#like one is meant to utterly separate the othered quality from the concept it causes evil. & the other is exploiting that otherness as#explicitly tied to evilness as a scapegoat to try and blame or associate something other than the character’s actual personality & choices#so they can try and use faux progressiveness buzzword arguments to try and make people like their fave the exact same way they do#like you’re actively using a minority identity for your own ends and it’s not in a chill way; stop#ableism#homophobia
