the increasing presence of invasive species and new tree diseases makes me so sad. we've got spotted lanternfly in my park, althought i havent seen it, it's there. We talked about the new beech leaf disease today in our meeting and our park's big old beech tree (most likely from the 1800s) has it. Oak wilt's moving further north because of warming climate zones. Sucks man.

#at least in a lot of cases it's treatable?#like we have an american elm but it's treated for dutch elm #beech leaf might be treatable and i think oak wilt is too but #in a big fuckin forest. what all is going to be saved?#idk. this is why you plant a whole mess of different kinds of trees #so when you have a disease like dutch elm wipe everything out #you still have trees #anyways.#park posting #parks posting
