ON BEATRIZ VOIDCALLER ; the stars in the void.

sooo um. yea. i wanted to do a little think piece on bea's main symbols, and a little bit into my thoughts on why she is the way she is. i think. heehoo

THE VOID.

their surname is “voidcaller” for crying out loud— a play on the phrase “the call of the void”. as much as beatriz may like to believe, she doesn’t always have a grip on her reality or her desires. after all, much of her life as “the wizard” has been reduced to assisting the needs of others, stopping world and universe ending threats. it’s a task she begrudgingly takes in stride, seeing as though at the end of the day, no one else is better suited for the task than she. she’s had many thoughts about shutting herself off from the spiral, giving up on trying to help everyone, mostly because of the fact that it truly feels like a thankless task most of the time. this however changes with the Nothing (also referred to as his chosen name, Dasein), and how far she goes to try and save her other half. an individual who’s seemingly always been calling out to that nothing, and whether she’s aware of it or not, has always longed to be embraced by that void. what if i took that leap. what if i took that chance? there’s no feat too large or monumental to beatriz when it comes to dasein. there’s no lengths she wouldn’t go. if it meant rending worlds, just to have him safe, she would do it gladly. but of course, she can’t act on these thoughts. after all, he wouldn’t want that, would he? it would all be void if she jumped to such haste.

THE STARS.

but of course, she has jumped off the deep end for this being. stricken with grief, not once— but twice. she’d lost him once to his selflessness in saving others who were, frankly to her at least, undeserving of his kindness— and again to the selfishness of those who chose to use him for greed. the one thing bea had to call her own, lost again and again in an instant. despair, desperation and yearning are emotions that beatriz feels strongly, and i like to think she doesn’t realize the extent as to how far these feelings take her over. they are truly all consuming. after the harrowing events of novus, in which dasein rejected the everything; the entirety of the spiral, bea was left once again, lonely, empty and desperate to see the being who’d meant so much to her once again. grief will push one to lengths inconceivable. if seeing him again and calling out to that nothingness meant that she had to tear apart the heavens, she would will it so. stars are a symbol of hope, a little light in the sky that instills in many the idea to “keep going”. this would bode the same meaning to bea. in one of the labs formerly used by the Old One (a man who would be consumed by the Nothing— whole ‘nother can of worms which will probably have a think piece written on at another time), beatriz would utilize his work and prior knowledge in an attempt to use stars to create a simulacrum of a black hole: of nothing. taking apart the life force of stars to create seemingly a facsimile, a method to reach out into the void, stick her head in, reach out again, and speak her message to whom she cares for so deeply. she would take that symbol of hopefulness and contort it into her own language, her own magic— the magic of death. snuffing out little freshly born stars into single dots, little points of the void, in the hopes of getting Something out of Nothing. her experiments were of course, unsuccessful. without her realizing it, too much of her heart was put into her work. she never noticed.

HEIGHT. 165cm / 1.68m / 5'5" BUILD. plus-sized weight. rounder, plush/pudgier body (specifically seen in upper arms, legs, and torso- essentially a fuller hourglass shape). round face. long legs. slouchier stance. SKIN. tan, rosy/pink undertones. very small, tiny scars in places that see a lot of movement/use (ie. hands/arms/knees/legs). small burn scar on both hands (as a result of star magic experimentation). EYES. deep, dark brown that appears essentially black. heavy lids, giving the appearance of someone who has not seen sleep in a long time. heavy eyebags. eyelashes are always naturally thick and curled. HAIR. a wavy short bob-like style that flares out upwards in the back at about neck length. two side pieces frame the sides of her face. blunt straight bangs across her face. hair color is a dark maroon/red. OTHER. across the majority of her body are little moles/beauty marks; mostly prevalent on her arms and back. her face features a prominent beauty mark on her left cheek.
