Last thing is PB is doing this ‘perfect, Mother Theresa-esque character has been murdered’ thing again with Juliana, and it’s beyond played out. I get that it was the next logical step since Juliana was talked about in book 1 , and she was basically the reason why Trystan was exiled in the first place. But hearing about yet another dead character who could do no wrong on top of how in love she and Trystan were (because PB loves their LIs with dead S.O.s) is nauseating

#choices CoP #choices crimes of passion #choices #choices stories you play #playchoices #maybe it’s just that I’m too insecure to handle dating someone after his wife/gf dies lol #bc I just really don’t like hearing about Trystan and Juliana’s relationship #I also feel like there’s always that hint of comparison #bc like 70% of the time the surviving S.O. is dating the new woman because she reminds him of his dead wife #and the other 30% of the time it’s because she’s damn near near the opposite of her #not saying that they’ve explicitly done that in CoP #but there are some small examples of that phenomenon that I’ve noticed #also the fact that the dead wife/gf in these books tends to be white is kind of annoying as well #it’s just another (albeit small) way that PB pushes Black and other women of color to the side #and places white women on a pedestal #let somebody else be the perfect dead wife for a change then maybe it would be more interesting #choices app
