"because i already know you'd love me if i wasn't." they purr, and frankly, he's offended since it's true, still they didn't have to be so smug about it!

"humans, they're complicated, they contain many multitudes and facets and contradictions. if i was human, i would be completely different to what i am now. so, i wanted to ask, would you still love me if i was human?"

he smiles, one of his eerie ones, the expressions that he now knows was an act of showing affection in their eyes.

"love is always a choice, shumai. i think i'd still love you even when you don't have tentacles or extra eyes."

"i- really? that's what you focus on?"
