My once a year contribution to the Care Bear fandom, based on a short epiphany I had during @carebearbro's stream last night. Except instead of just Oopsy affirming his 'words of affirmation' love language, it's the cheeky Tumblr post of all the main five bears from the Adventures in Care-a-lot era and their love languages.

Since unlock the magic merch seems to be super popular right now, do you think they’ll never make a new version of the bears again? I’m not hating, I think the bears look cute, I just really miss the Welcome to Care a Lot/Care Bears& Cousins era &feel like it wasn’t given a chance like UtM. I just LOVED how kid friendly the show was, I tried watching UtM but it just seemed like it was geared for10-13age range rather than4-7age range that WTCAL or even the Nelvana/AiCAL series’ was geared towards
Hmmm...this is pretty interesting to think about.  I don’t know a ton about what cartoons are aimed at which age ranges, but I don’t think I would say UtM is aimed at kids quite not old...not the 10-13 range.  I think those age kids tend to like stuff that’s a little more crass, or at least a little more serious.  I think about Cartoon Network type shows like Gumball, We Bare Bears, Teen Titans Go, and older stuff like Fairly Odd Parents, Adventure time....things like that. However, it’s hard for me to place age ranges exactly.  I think UtM and AiC are pretty similar, though, and even the Nelvana episodes could arguably fit more into a bit older.  I do think that the Nelvana movies were more on the little kid side. As far as WtC goes, I can see it being aimed at younger kids.  And I think that may be why some WtC videos on the Care Bears youtube channel got a TON of views. WtC at least got the Care Bears and Cousins spin-off, which is something.   But everyone has their own tastes.  I really love UtM because I think it has a really nice balance.  I still view it as very kid friendly...to me, even though it mixes in some modern type vibes and some funny facial expressions, I don’t think there’s really anything uncomfortable about it.  It still feels very innocent to me. It is kind of odd that it airs on Boomerang, though.  I guess it’s trying to tap into the nostalgia that a lot of people feel, along with the toher cartoons on there.   But, TinyPop is more of a kids network from what I can tell, as is Family Jr. In Canada.  So I can see that being aimed at a younger audience. As far as where the Care Bears franchise is headed...I don’t think there’s any way to tell.  It does seem like every iteration of Care Bears only lasts about five years or so.  But, with the way everything is so internet and social media focused now, it’s possible that the UtM brand will continue WITHOUT having more episodes...they may just try to create more online content like the Unlock the Music videos, as well as try to tie it in to other games and sthings like that. But, it feels like all things tend to come to an end.  So if I had to guess, I would guess at some point the UtM version will end.  And who knows when/if we would get another version.   I honestly thought the Care Bears franchise was dead after the 80s.  During the 90s, I assumed that it would never come back.  So the 2000s resurgence was a very welcome suprise to me.
