At approximately 4:22pm HST today, my best buddy, Zeus, crossed over the rainbow bridge. There will never be “enough time” with those we love and this is the case with Zeus. He had a spine that was degenerating, which caused his back legs to become very weak. But, Zeus continued to try so very hard to function till the very end, as he took pride in ALL he did. As a service dog, trained by @assistancedogsofhawaii, Zeus provided assistance as best he could for the 12+ years I had him. Secondarily, I know he made many, many people happy. This is something I appreciated greatly, as people would smile when seeing Zeus - be it strangers, friends, students at the @uhmanoacoe, faculty in @speduhm, the list is endless. Zeus will be missed, but I’m happy he’s no longer in any pain and he’s running around up in heaven with all of his wonderful friends! I’m sorry there will be no more Zeus posts twice a day, but please think of all the happiness he brought into your lives, if you interacted with him. Not sure when I’ll be ready to post again, but please know I appreciate your support and love. Zeus was a valiant warrior for his entire life. Aloha, Zeus. [A post of remembrance] We were saddened to learn of @coltonjames15’s (Colt Brennan) this morning. Brian was blessed to have had his friendship away from football. What he did for a state - Hawaiʻi - can’t be measured. We met at a neighborhood park in 2018 and spent time just talking about life, along with sharing laughs of being a part of the very special 2007 Hawaii Warrior football season (I was just a lowly graduate assistant, Colt was the rockstar!). Colt expressed a strong desire to get better (in life) so he could give back to his new “home” - Hawaiʻi. We kept in contact and agreed to meet up again when he returned to the island. Though it’s sad we won’t meet again, I take comfort in knowing he’s now in a better place. His legacy will last forever and those who enjoyed watching him sling a football around in 2005 to 2007 will share their memories with their children. Luckily, @youtube has many videos of Colt’s great skills. Rest easy, my friend. You’ll always be a Warrior.
