So I wanted to ask about the new Big Bang fic you're coming out with, "In Pursuit of the Uneatable". I've really liked most of your other ML fics (as you well know), so I was thinking of checking it out, but well… the premise makes me wary, since it's one of those "Lila manages to isolate Marinette using her lies" premises.
But I did notice that instead of talking about Marinette's friends "turning on her" or otherwise trying to hurt her in some way, you're just talking about them becoming distant, which is something I could feasibly see happening if Lila managed to sow enough doubt about Marinette's motives and actions. They'd never hurt her (everyone thinks of Chloe as a bully and they don't try to hurt HER, and I don't think that's just because of the potential of her father retaliating), but being a little more leery of her is possible if they aren't as certain of her moral character as they used to be.
And I also saw that you didn't mention anything about like, Marinette trying to get revenge of any sort against other people or leaving them to rot or anything, which makes me think it might not be that sort of fic? The vibe I'm getting from the synopsis you gave is that the main reason you went with the "Lila's lies manage to isolate Marinette" thing is to explore how she copes with not having a very stable support network (since in the show she has a huge, solid one, even with Lila's best efforts at sabotaging it), and to have Adrien serve as her main support until Lila's beaten, rather than to specifically demonize everyone in Marinette's orbit and have her take sadistic pleasure in hurting them in revenge.
That's really the crux of my question and my fear, I guess. Nothing in your previous works made it look like you'd be likely to go this route, but I really need to know before I chance glancing at your fic: are Marinette's friends, the class more generally, gonna be made to be awful people beyond anything that could be reasonably extrapolated out about them? Is Marinette gonna seek revenge or punishment for them for believing Lila's lies? Basically, are they gonna get "Ron the Death Eatered", if you're familiar with that tvtropes term? I've gotten pretty traumatized from running into that over and over in the ML fandom (and no, I'm not kidding about the trauma here, it's gotten really bad at times), so while I see lots of signs that this is gonna be a lot more reasonable than say, the "Alya strangles Marinette for being mean to Lila" or "Marinette intentionally arranges for Lila to be in a position to sexually harass Adrien as revenge for him advising her to take the high road" scenarios that I've seen in the past, I still want to check since I instinctively flinch when I see anything anything even remotely in the ballpark of a saltfic premise due to seeing those sorts of things incessantly for years.
Totally get your hesitation! As someone who generally isn't a fan of saltfics/bashing either, I understand being wary.
I will say that your read of the summary is an accurate one. This fic definitely will focus more on Marinette's mental state than anything else, and it is more of a "Marinette isolates herself from everyone on purpose" rather than Lila shoving her out.
I don't want to be like "oh i wrote all the characters perfectly" because....obvious reasons LOL but I made sure to give the other characters reasons for acting as they do. I know you're an Alya fan, so I will say that nothing bad happens to Alya and even Marinette never really blames her for believing Lila's lies - and the same for their other classmates as well. It's a lot more of Marinette blaming herself, I think, hence the unreliable narrator tag, but she does have a charitable view of her classmates. Instead of blaming them for listening to Lila, she'll still acknowledge the fact that they're her friends too, and them caring about Lila doesn't mean they still don't care about her.
More than the bullying/lying, I think this fic also explores ideas that are a bit different. Not to get too into spoiler territory, but it deals pretty heavily with sentimonter-esque creation, and the biggest thing for Marinette is understanding what it means to be human - and in that process, realizing that Lila, too, is just as human as she is. So more introspection/character study territory than "oh Lila sucks and she's going down'.
But yes, to answer your question: no revenge on her classmates, and no bashing/saltfics here!

Oh my god so I’ve been going through your big bang fic tag the last couple of days (it’s awesome, new years could not come any sooner) and once I was done id randomly come back to look through it again just to read the tidbits and I was going to do that today but I completely forgot the name of it. And I freaked out. I couldn’t find it anywhere and it got to the point where I was like, did I imagine this masterpiece? But then I slowly started to remember the name of it and I gave a HUGE sigh of relief.
Anyways t-2 basically 1 days left until The Pursuit of the Uneatable is out in the world!!!! I cannot WAIT. Until then I’ll be feeding on the crumbs in a corner.
Oh yeah and is there an update schedule?

(for those of you who haven't seen it, here's an awful summary: a post-canon fic where Hawk Moth is arrested and his identity has been revealed. You’d think Ladybug and Chat Noir can find each other now, right? But Plot Twist! Chat Noir was the Guardian, and now he’s got no memories and nothing to guide him except for a burner phone filled with voicemails from one of the Saviors of Paris.)
The voicemails are from Chat Noir! And I know the description sounds kind of flippant but like...the actual fic is angst central, and my goal is to rip out my own heart when I reread it. There are a lot of tears, a lot of self-loathing, and a little bit of maybe trying to heal and forgive.
I don't exactly know when on my schedule it'll be posted - I have a Naruto longfic that I think I'll finish up first. But you heard it here first, folks!

For the WIP game: We are all Hangmen (man?)
Maybe WIP is a bit of a generous description for this fic, considering the last time I even looked at it was March 2022. But here's a snippet!
Her husband is gone, and yet so much of her life still depends on him. As it will forever, she thinks.
At least, though his body may not rest there, Jonathan’s grave is with his family, beside that of his father. Both of their graves are empty; there had not been a body to bury for neither father nor son.
Erina stares at the headstones and tries very hard to scrub the word ‘curse’ from her mind.
A portrait of Jonathan stands at the front of the crowd, propped up elegantly. Erina studies it, a lump in her throat, and despite her sadness she still has to fight a smile. Jonathan had once confided in him that he hated having portraits of himself done, that he could hardly stand to sit still for so long without moving. The portrait displays that: he looks far too stiff, his ever-present grin absent and his mouth set into a hard line. He looks nothing like himself.
She cannot bear to look at it. The only thing worse than not looking at him is looking at a cheap imitation. Instead, her eyes return to the headstone, reading the inscription carved upon it. They hadn’t asked her what she wished it to be, she only realizes now.
Beloved son and husband, it says. Not brother. It is a small mercy that that is not included. Underneath, a final farewell is written: Until we meet again.
Erina turns her head, looking out into the distance. It is a foolish thought, but she cannot help but look for some kind of sign from Jonathan. Of course, nothing comes, and she chastises herself for even having the thought.
Dead men cannot speak.
or: a This Thing Between Us fusion, in which Jonathan is dead and there are more than a few strange occurrences that follow: cold spots, scratching in the wall, and handwritten messages for Erina to find. At first, she rejoices, thinking that her beloved husband is trying to find his way back to her. But it quickly becomes apparent that whatever has made its way into her home - into her life - is most definitely not her husband. There is no escape, Erina realizes, not from her guilt, not from her grief, and not from the evil hunting her, feeding on her grief, determined to make its way into this world.

Honestly, I always forget about the coffee shop AU lol. My initial idea for that was really different than what the fic turned out to be - it was supposed to be a 5 + 1 (5 times Mia bought coffee and 1 time she didn't have to - something like that!) but then it ended up spiraling out of control. My notes were something like "there's a murder in the coffee shop and Diego is either the defendant who hires Mia or a witness who's SO annoying to cross-examine lmao", but I only had a few days left before the Heart Attack deadline so it ended up getting pared down quite a bit. Mayhaps I will return to that idea someday though....

Scene (I found a short comic, incomplete, by Saketoba on this, which piqued my curiosity) -
Sakura and sasuke m returned to Konoha with Sarada who is still young. Sasuke is about to resume his journey. Before leaving, Sasuke painfully tells Sakura that Sarada still young and he might not return for months, years or even a life-time, given thr serious nature of his mission, so sakura shouldn’t wait for him and if possible find solace with someone else. Sakura who is shocked to the very core understands sasuke good intent and asks if she should wait for him, for which he refuses. The scene shifts to where Sasuke has left and Sakura is at clinic where one of her mentee tells her that he likes her a lot and knows that she is raising a kid alone. Sakura is suddenly reminded of Sasuke’s words and decides to leave. As she gets up, her hair suddenly get stuck in a tree branch. This person asks for her permission to get her hair out of the branch and suddenly there is strong gush of hair, making sakura lean in her new lover’s embrace (only a bit) and suddenly Sasuke is there, with his back on both of them-

All of my fics were written for the same reason you mentioned - that you looked everywhere for a fic like this and couldn't find one - so more than anyone, I would say that's a great reason to start writing.

Oh, thank you so much! I've spent so long writing that fic (read: overthinking) so it's so crazy to me that people are actually liking the concept of it. But even though the drafting process was frustrating at times, I really just tried to have fun with the concept, so I'm really happy to hear that that's coming through for you.
Honestly, every time I didn't want to work on it I procrastinated by playing Hades, so I totally get you lol. But hey, if you needed an excuse to replay Hades, here it is!
