Like Glue
Who: Sam & Peyton @southsidepey
What: Sam learns about Peyton’s relationship with Sebastian
When: December 6th, Evening
Where: Peyton’s place
Regular: Peyton
Bold: Sam
Word Count: 2873
Peyton was nervous for sure. She knew that she needed to tell Sam about Sebastian being one of her main clients, if you want to call him that. She also knew that Sam didn’t need this stress of her issues, on top of his issues. She ran her fingers through her hair, already had the Chinese food all ready to go and waited for Sam to come over to her place.
Sam could tell there was something up with Peyton from their texts. He had a feeling it wasn't just about her potentially joining the Serpents, it definitely seemed like something else, but he knew he'd rather just talk about it in person. So, after his workout and shower, Sam headed over to Peyton's place, ringing her doorbell. He ran his hands through his slightly damp hair, waiting to see her.
Peyton bit down on her bottom lip when she heard the doorbell and headed to answer the door. "Coming." She called out, sniffed as she headed towards the door and opened the door. She offered him a small smile, stepped to the side to let him in and closed the door behind him. "So, I got us our food. If you're hungry."
Sam gave Peyton a smile as she let him in, bringing his arm around her waist and pulling her into a side hug. He kept her there for a moment, just to let her know he was telling her the truth, that he was going to be there, no matter what. Sam nodded, "Oh, yeah, food would be great right now." Peyton buried her face into the side of his body and breathed in his scent with her eyes closed. "Thank you," she murmured into him and nodded slightly against him. "Yeah. I got some egg rolls, and anything else."
Sam’s hand rubbed the small of her back, and he couldn't help but wonder what was going on? She was almost acting like how she was when she told him about Sebastian and Asher. Sam was trying to not jump to any conclusions, knowing it wouldn't lead anywhere good, so he kissed the top of her head, speaking softly, "Alright. Let's eat, and then we can talk, yeah?"
"Yeah," Peyton replied softly as he rubbed the small of her back and rubbed his back as well. She interlaced their fingers together then led him towards the food, where she had it laid out onto the table and dropped his hand to grab the bottle of soda.
Sam let out a small smile, letting Peyton lead him towards the table. Sam was starved, a heavy day at the gym usually did that to him, so he was quick to open a box of fried rice and grab a fork. He looked up as Peyton let go to grab some soda, watching her as he munched on his food, a sheepish grin forming on his face, "Sorry, babe, I just couldn't wait."
Peyton let out a soft laugh as she poured them drinks as she shrugged and sat down across from him. "That's totally okay, I almost didn't wait for you to come here. Thankfully, I ate a big lunch." She teased before she handed him his drink and started to eat her food then some of the fried rice. "Kidding, I didn't have a big lunch, had two small pizzas and a candy bar."
Sam nodded, grabbing his drink and taking a sip, "I wouldn't have blamed you," He let out a laugh, taking another bite of his food, "Oh don't mention pizza or candy bars around me. I miss it too much. I mean, I had it a few days ago, but still, it was just a cheat day." Sam joked around. He always tried to keep his eating and working out right, even if he did slip up a few times, maybe because his body and image meant more to Sam than he'd ever really admit.
Peyton took a bite out of her sweet & sour chicken as she placed her legs into his lap after she scooted closer to him. She didn't want to have the space between them at the moment. "Mhm that's a mood, I gotta go to the gym and start kickboxing back up. That way, if we ever wrestle or anything, I can kick your ass." She teased with a smile before she grabbed an egg roll. "Speaking of which, how was the gym?"
Sam brought his chair closer to Peyton's as well, letting one of his hands sit on her thigh, "Oh really? You'd only beat me 'cause I'd go easy on you," Sam teased back. In trying out all different kind of workouts, Sam just couldn't ever really get into wrestling, he much rather preferred boxing, so he was pretty sure Peyton would beat him anyways. "It was good, did some cardio, some weights, some hot yoga. Pretty successful day. And how was your day, beautiful?"
Peyton couldn’t help but feel her smirk spread across her face. "Oh, really now? Then I say we should try that out sometime." She sent her a wink and then took a bite out of the egg roll, placed it back onto her fried rice. She raised an eyebrow before she took a swig of her soda as he spoke. "Hot Yoga? Is that yoga in a sauna?" She hummed a bit as she shrugged at his question. "It was good, woke up with my handsome boyfriend in my bed, did a few things around the flower shop before I threw darts at my new dartboard and then slipped into a depressive episode, because I’m worried that Im quitting the club for the wrong reasons." She admitted, to herself and to Sam. "But, now it's great again."
Sam wiggled his eyebrows, laughing, "Oh, we definitely should do that." Sam took another bite of his kung pao chicken, nodding, "Yeah, it's like really sweaty and intense, but it feels pretty good afterwards." Sam resisted making a dirty comment about how hot yoga sounds like sex without pleasure, so he reserved himself to a small chuckle escaping his lips. Sam's smile quickly faded into a frown as Peyton spoke, his eyebrows furrowing, "What's going on Peyton? I mean, dartboards are pretty random, but why do you feel like you leaving the club is wrong?"
Peyton sent a wink when she saw him wiggle his eyebrows. "Tell me when and I'll make sure to have the whole day and night cleared for you babe." She nodded as he spoke, tucked her lips into her mouth as she looked away, keeping her comment to herself. "Sounds like something I should try, if you don't mind that is." She simply stated. She let out a breath as she knew that she needed to come clean. "The dartboards help out my frustration and it has been, helping for the most part. It’s just, I'm one of Santana's best girls and I love performing and I don't know what your thoughts are on the matter."
"Gladly," Sam sent Peyton a small smile, knowing that they should talk about what was really going on. He didn't want their banter to end so soon, but he knew that whatever was going on was something they couldn't really ignore, even if he didn't have the slightest clue what it was, "Well what frustrations are you having? It's like I told you, babe, if you love performing, then I'm all for you staying at the club. But is there anything else going on? I just feel like that can't be it, especially if you're frustrated and taking it out on a dartboard."
"With Sebastian's face on it." Peyton admitted softly as she ran a hand over her hair and closed her eyes, since she could tell she was close to crying. She really hoped that it wouldn’t turn into a big fight, since she didn’t have the energy to be upset with Sam, since she was already upset with herself because of everything. "Before I go ahead and tell you this, I want you to know that I am happy with you and there hasn't been any doubt in my mind. I also don’t want to keep anything from you, because like I said the other night, I don't want any secrets from you." Peyton looked at Sam and swallowed a bit. "Sebastian used to ask for me, well for Scarlet, at the club, as his good luck charm and he hasn't been there for a while. So, me quitting the club, would me that Santana would lose her best dancer but would probably bring Sebastian & his wallet back to the club. So that way her business wouldn't suffer. Though, we have had plenty of people coming into the club, despite Sebastian being gone and I was also sending girls to be his good luck charm before he fully stopped coming." She licked her lips and looked at him. "Its obvious okay if you're upset, because I get it and understand."
Sam's mouth opened a bit, but it quickly closed again, letting Peyton talk. He was trying really hard not to overreact, to just shut up and listen for once. He didn't want to end up in the same position they were in a few weeks ago. So, he stayed quiet, and he let Peyton explain. Knowing that her and Sebastian had a "relationship" before they slept together definitely stung, but it was in the past, and it seemed like Peyton was trying to move on from that, which he couldn't be mad about. Obviously, part of him was upset, but he was more concerned with comforting Peyton. He wanted to show that he wasn't going to run again. Sam brought Peyton close to him, pulling her into his lap and ran his hand over the small of her back again. "It's okay, Pey, I promise."
Peyton let out a soft breath when she felt him pulled her into his lap and leaned her head onto his shoulder as she pulled her legs close to her chest. She nuzzled her head into his neck and breathed in his scent as she wrapped her arms around him. She stayed quiet after he spoke, not knowing what to say or do. So, she started to rub his back, then she started to play with his hair at the base of his neck. She opened her mouth, then closed it. "What's going through your mind, baby?"
Sam had been pretty good at keeping his emotions repressed, knowing that he has a tendency to overreact. So, he didn't really know what was going through his mind at this point, most of it was just about how he should comfort Peyton. Sam couldn't really gage what he was feeling? Sad? Mad? Hurt? "I... I don't really know. Upset, maybe? A little, I guess. So... did you guys do anything? Like... more than dancing during that time?"
Peyton listened to Sam, as she continued to rub his back and played with his hair. "Which is totally understandable, and I get that." She replied as she listened to him, let out a breath before she lifted her head up and looked at him. "I did more of the dancing, but we mainly talked, he confided in me whenever we hung out at the VIP booth, were getting pretty friendly at the table. Then after my panic attack that I had at the drive-in, I skipped work that weekend because I didn't want any guy touching me and that included Sebastian. We texted and he trusted me. Then there was him coming to the flower shop to buy sunflowers for his sister and floral arrangements for his mother's garden party. And we danced at the engagement party." She bit down on her inner cheek as she looked away and hoped that she didn’t just ended their relationship. She let out a breath as she gotten out of Sam's lap, walked towards the window and tried not to let out any sobs as she closed her eyes, feeling the tears rolled down her cheek.
Sam sat and listened again, letting her words process in his head. He just kept telling himself to not get angry, that this was in the past, that he couldn't hold it against her, that he'd already forgiven her for being with Sebastian. But it still hurt, he wouldn't lie about that, it was just nowhere near as bad as how he felt the first time around. But before Sam could really respond, Peyton got up. He quickly followed after her, sliding himself between her and the window. Sam used his finger to lift Peyton's chin up, hoping she would open her eyes and see that this wasn't going to end everything. He brought his thumb up her face, wiping away her tears, "Hey, hey..." Sam settled his hands on her shoulders, massaging them as he spoke this time, "It's okay, babe. That was the past, we have to start living in the present again. I'm not leaving you because you were involved with someone else, because it's you and me now, no one else."
Peyton swallowed hard as she heard Sam's voice and opened up her eyes as she felt him wiped her tears away. She sniffed as he spoke, let out a shaky breath and nodded as he spoke Peyton exhaled a shaky breath as she stuffed her face into his chest as she sobbed and kept him closed. "I-I’m sorry." She said as she kept him closed.
Sam had gotten pretty used to getting himself hurt, more so emotionally than physically. Everyone important in his life had done it somehow. It used to affect him more, made him thing that he cared too much, but his skin got tougher. Peyton and him had been through too much to give all of it up now, so he'd keep himself together. Of course, he was sad, he was sad most of the time after all, but he'd accepted that was how it was for him. Sam brought Peyton closer to him, comforting her as tears stained his shirt, "I forgive you. I will always forgive you, Pey." Sam whispered, placing a kiss on her head.
Peyton lifted her head up to looked at him when he said that. "Why? Why do you keep on forgiving me?" She asked, tears still rolling down her cheeks. She could feel herself shaking and her vision was getting blurry from the tears. She placed her head back against his chest and sniffed. You deserve better. You deserve someone who would treat you a lot better than I have been. She thought, but she let the silence fall in between them.
Sam's brows furrowed at the question. If there was someone who deserved better, it was Peyton, not Sam. It was crazy to him that she somehow thought that she wasn't enough for him, because in truth, she was... everything. Sam shook his head, giving her a smile and clearing away her tears as he spoke, "Because I'm selfish, and I refuse to let go of the best thing that's ever happened to me."
Peyton sniffed as she looked at him, closed her eyes as he cleared the tears away and saw his smile. "Even though I've caused so much turmoil in the past week?" She asked softly as she looked at him, swallowed hard once more. "Okay, not so much turmoil." She cupped his cheek and caressed it with her thumb. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me and I’m scared shitless that I’m going to lose you, even though you said I’m stuck with you like glue."
Sam shook his head, "Neither one of us is perfect, babe. I know I've made plenty of my own mistakes." It was true, Sam felt like he was always messing up, sabotaging himself and his happiness, but he wasn't going to let Peyton go. He didn't care about who she was then and what she did, he could only care about who she was now, "You could never lose me, ever, even if you tried to."
Peyton nodded as she remembered what happened and let out a breath. She knew she wasn't going to go down without fighting for this relationship, since he was the one who has been making her smile, nonstop lately. "And goes for you, you could never lose me, ever and even if you tried." She gave him a small smile and kissed him softly. "How about we eat some more of our dinner then we can cuddle before we have to get ready for work?"
Sam gave Peyton a smile, bringing her close to him and placing a kiss on her temple, lingering there for a moment. She meant everything to Sam, she really was his light in the darkness that was his life, so he'd fight for her, till the end. "Good." Sam leaned in as their lips met, nodding, "Now that sounds like a plan." A grin formed on Sam's face, as he lifted Peyton off her feet and into his arms, carrying her bridal style back to the table so the two could finish their meal.
