Chapter 36 is here. Wow this took longer than I planned, sorry!!
There’re a lot of TL notes btw
But onto some good and bad news... Chapter 37 is even longer (28 pages)!! I’ll do my best to finish it within a week...
Volume 6 is available for purchase at
Amazon (hardcopy, kindle) (x)
CDJapan (x)
As you’ll see in this chapter, “Aruosumente” is actually supposed to be spelled “Alosmente.” Some sources like myanimelist have been using that instead of “Aruosumente.” But I’ll continue to use “Aruosumente” because that’s more commonly used.

Lante: One, two, heave-ho!!
<<SFX: CLUNK>>
Lante: Ah
Soldier: Lante…Didn’t we talk about not missing that mark?
Lante: Ugh
Soldier: Were your eyes closed?
Lante: They were open!!
Page 2
Soldier: As I thought, we should leave chopping the wood to Dante. He’s good at it. Yeah, he’s good at it.
<<Other soldiers: Right… Right…>>
Lante: I-I can do it too!!
Soldier: You can’t though
Lante: Ugh
Soldier: It’s fine, go call Dante. He’ll be able to do it
Lante: Wait! But I was able to properly chop them up yesterday!!
Soldier: Yeah, 3 logs (in one day)
<<SFX: soldiers grouping>>
Lante: Ugh
<<SFX: alone>>
Lante: …
Lante: …Tsk
Page 3
Lante: …To begin with, you can’t chop up something this small!? (It’s impossible!!)
<<SFX: kick>>
Lante (narrating): I wonder how long it’s been since then
<<SFX: clang>>
Lante (narrating): There wasn’t any reason to fight. The knight’s captain’s absence didn’t cause any particular inconvenience…
Lante (narrating): In terms of strength, the next captain should be Dante. But everyone voted unanimously against it.
<<Soldier 1: Won’t do>>
<<Soldier 2: That’s impossible>>
<<Soldier3, 4: Nope>>
Lante (narrating): For me, I couldn’t help with much as usual.
Lante (thinking): At least I’m doing my best chopping wood…
<<SFX: roll>>
Page 4
Lante: Haaaaahhh…
Soldier: Hey Lante
Soldier: Help me run an errand for a bit
Lante: Errand? What?
Soldier: It’s delivering something
Lante: Sure
(Lante: So, to where?)
(Soldier: The nearby armory)
<<SFX: heavy>>
Lante (narrator): …”The official odd job doer…”
(Lante: Super damn heavy…)
Lante (thinking): …It’s fine though…
Soldier: Wow, sure is a lot, huh!
Page 5
Soldier 1: You brought this many back by yourself? It must have been heavy
Lante: Wait (breathe)
Soldier 1: But why so much again…
Lante: Ah, there haven’t been any big disputes, so…
Lante: It seems like they’re bringing them over to us to be repaired
Soldier 2: Oh…that’s why
Soldier 1: Yeah that’s true. It’s not like this kinda peacefulness would last forever
Soldier 1: Then we’ll take care of this
Lante: Sure, I’ll leave it to you.
Soldier1: Ah, wait a second
Page 6
Soldier1: Here’s your tip
Lante: Eh, are you sure!?
Soldier 1: Ya brought over such heavy things. Buy something for someone ya like
Lante: Like?!
Lante: I don’t have someone like that
Soldier 1: Sooner or lateeeer
Soldier 2: You’re probably secretly performing the Aruosumente, right? (That one, that one)
Lante: Aru… What’s that?
Soldier 1: You don’t know what the Aruosumente is?
Soldier 1: It’s divination using dreams
Soldier 2: Eh? I heard it’ll make your wishes come true though?
Page 7
Soldier 1: You take a black stone and envelope it in a white cloth like this (this way)
Soldier 1: And hold it while you’re sleeping. If you do that, the sage will appear and tell you about anything
Soldier 2: That’s wrong, it’s supposed to make your wish come true
Lante: …
Lante: That’s hella shady (ueeeh)
Soldier 1: Right!!
<<Voices: Gahaha>>
Soldier 3: Aruosumente? Oh yeah, yeah I heard of that
Soldier 4: Isn’t it dream divination? Plucking flower petals is much easier. I used to do that a lot
Soldiers: What? Is there someone you like? (Ooh?! No way?!
Lante: No (Why are we talking about that?!)
Page 8
Lante (narrating): That’s ridiculous
Lante (thinking): Fortune telling huh, that’s stupid (And there’s nothing to do today as well…)
Lante (thinking): I need to find something more useful to spend my time
Lante (thinking): …The tip I got
Lante (thinking): What should I use it on…
Lamia (quote): Read books!!
Page 9
Lante: …
Lante: Books… I wonder if I can buy them…?
Lante (narrating): Speaking of which, I received a dictionary
Lante (narrating): I used it a little and read a bit of it but the books that the army has aren’t interesting. So with that
(Lante: Legislation?*)
((*TL note: I have no idea what the first character is; I honestly can’t read Aki’s handwriting sometimes. It looks vaguely like 立法, so I’m going to assume it’s that.)
Lante: …
Salesperson: Ah, if it’s that
Salesperson: It should be around here. That book’s very worn so I’ll sell it to you for cheap
Lante: It’s full of picture…
Salesperson: Is it too easy?
Lante: …
Lante: …It’s fine (I can’t read it)
Salesperson: Thank you! I’ll give you a bonus, so work hard!! Here!
Lante: …? What book is that
Salesperson: Who knows? It didn’t sell at all so I’ll give it to you
Salesperson: The title is also gone. Work hard so you can read this one day!
Lante: …You’re just trying to get rid of your garbage right?
Lante: Whatever, I’ll just take it!
Lante: There’s nothing over there for me to read anyways.
Page 10
Narrator: In the end, the picture book was quickly finished
Lante (thinking): …boring (tsk)
Lante (thinking): I guess…I’ll read this dirty book…
<<SFX: Worn>>
Lante (thinking): Uwah, it’s really so dirty (Smelly!!)
Lante: A…L
Lante: This, is this the title? Maybe? (Stinky)
Lante (thinking): I can’t read it (Next…)
Lante: …Means? “Investigation,” “dream”
Lante: Sage
Page 11
Lante: AL
Lante: Ah
Lante: “Aruosumente”
Lante (narrating): That’s, only just a bit ago
Lante (narrating): Had I heard about it
Lante (thinking): Wasn’t it love fortune telling
Lante (narrating): “That’s wrong”
Page 12
Lante (narrating): “It’s supposed to grant wishes”
Lante: …
Lante: I can’t read much of it because it’s so dirty, but
Lante (narrating): When I look closely at it, it’s a elegant book
Lante (thinking): Like its decorations...
Lante: This is not a “love fortune telling”
Lante: Book
Lante (narrating): What does this mean? “A wish granting” book?
Page 13
Lante (narrating): Having an ancient and honorable origin in history and elsewhere
Lante: A ritual like sorcery?
Lante: Magic…? It shouldn’t be
Lante (narrating): But the oracle is like magic, mythical, defying reason
Lante: …
Lante (narrating): It can’t be magic
Lante (narrating): But then, what is the oracle?
Page 14
Lante (narrating): The oracle is the oracle and he punishes people
Lante: That’s it. In other words, in this world
Lante: The things that defy reason “exists in reality” and presumably functions this way. At least, the country believes so.
Lante: If so, the oracle is
Lante: That’s it
<<SFX: clunk>>
Page 15
Dante: …You’re reading. It’s time to eat
Lante: Ah, mhm, got it
Dante: …
<<Dante: Stares>>
Lante: …? What?
Dante: …No
Dante: It’s nothing
Lante: Oh ok, let’s hurry up and go
Page 16
Lante (thinking): Originally, I was the one having that one sided conversation with him, but
Lante (narrating): He can’t talk with me and my conversations with Dante are very scarce
Lante (thinking): Well, it’s not like talking… …?
Lante: …What?
Lante: What happened?
Soldier 1: It’s a sortie!
Lante: A sortie
Soldier 2: Stop messing around!!
Page 17
Soldier 2: Haven’t you learned your lesson?!! Weren’t we not supposed to speak about matters regarding the army!?
Soldier 2: We haven’t even practiced and you think it’s fine to simply send the “The Chariot”** out, right
((**TL note: I think both Egscans and I have translated Dante’s nickname “戦車” as “tank.” I’m going to use “Chariot” instead of “tank” from now on because it’s more appropriate for the time period and Dante is supposed to represent the tarot card Chariot.))
Soldier 3: But there was an order sent via the oracle’s name. We can’t oppose it
Soldier 2: But!
Soldier 2: Can’t we mobilize troops from other forts? Compared to our opponents, we are lacking in soldiers
Soldier 3: But if the “Noir Trayrd”*** is present, then our numbers will be sufficient
((***TL note: Egscans translated “ノイエ・トラリッド” as “Nero Torarudo.” It’s actually supposed to be “Noie Trayrd,” since “ノイエ” is a known “foreigner” name in Japan and “トラリッド” is actually the official Japanese spelling for a place in Sweden. I’m going to translate it as “Noir Traryd” though, since the official kanji paring is “黒い戦車,” or “Black Chariot,” and “ノイエ (noie)” is pronounced similar to “Noir.”))
Soldier 2: Don’t be foolish!! What will happen if we can’t stop him!? That monster can’t differentiate between ally and foe!! What if he kills someone again!!
Page 18
Lante (narrating): At that time, I was worried if everyone’s heartless words hurt Dante
Lante (narrating): The battle was more violent than expected
Lante (narrating): Both sides were wounded
Lante (narrating): At the end, Dante was the last person left to drive them off
Soldier: He stopped but, everyone’s afraid to approach him
Page 19
Lante: …Dante
Lante (narrating): Actually
Lante: Are you okay? Do you
Lante (narrating): I was a little afraid
Lante: Recognize me?
Lante (narrating): Because I rejected Dante
Lante (narrating): His voice
Page 20
Lante (narrating): It wasn’t that it couldn’t reach me
Page 21
Lante: Dante!
Lante: Dante!?
