today, he was teaching fuuka how to make simple coconut jellies. he had already prepped getting the ingredients and even back-up tools, just in case. but of course, he would still stick to the end to help her improve with cooking and baking in general.

today's recipe wasn't that hard, so it shouldn't be that bad, right?

   ❝   That’s  far  too  much  salt,  Fuuka-chan.  The  recipe  calls  for  4  grams,  not  10.   ❞   A thin finger pointed at the ingredients listed upon the copied recipe, one that Sumire thought would be simple enough for her kouhai to get the hang of quickly. It seemed like that wouldn’t be the case. Fuuka was definitely a fast learner when it came to things like studies and technology, but cooking was another story. Thankfully, Sumire was quite the talented cook with plenty of patience to spared.    Bowls of different sizes were placed before both of them, holding ingredients for the pancake recipe they were attempting to make. Usually, Sumire would simply dump them into a mixing bowl without measuring everything out like this, but she thought it would be best to take things slowly instead. She took one of the smaller measuring spoons and offered it to Fuuka.    ❝   Here,  you  must’ve  grabbed  the  wrong  spoon  by  accident.  Don’t  worry,  I  used  make  mistakes  like  that  all  the  time.   ❞

                    it’s   a   curious   sight ,   for   sure.   he’d   just   been   minding   his   own   business ,   wandering   around   and   exploring ,   when   he’d   first   seen   her.   at   first ,   the   blue - haired   student   thought   his   eyes   were   just   playing   TRICKS   on   him.   what   he   was   seeing   wasn’t .  .  .   real ,   was   it?   after   all ,   right   over   there   was   shujin’s   student   council   president   —   why   on   earth   would   she   be   out   here ,   in   shinjuku?   ( wasn’t   she   supposed   to   be   one   of   those   straight - a ,   genius   types   who   never   did   anything   wrong ,   ever?  )                     .  .  . would   it   be   weird   to   go   talk   to   her?   probably.   but   before   mishima   can   stop   himself ,   he   finds   himself   weaving   through   the   hordes   of   people   to   go   chat.

"hey, aki," shinji said, wiping his hands on his apron. the other sees members were out, so shinji wasn't concerned about letting this part of himself show. "c'mere for a minute." spread out on the kitchen table were several different delicious looking dishes; all akihiko's favorites. it's entirely possible he's gone a bit overboard, but it's for aki, so it's fine. "i wanted to do something since it's...y'know. happy birthday, aki."

     he hadn’t really paid attention to the day ; a card and a gift from mitsuru in the morning, a promise from the others that they’d stop and get something to eat together later that day, and they had left akihiko to his devices. there was something strange about birthdays -- maybe it’s his childhood that makes him linger less on them than a normal person might, but whatever the reason might be, there were things more important to do.

     shinjiro’s voice barely breaks his attention from the homework spread across the table in front of him, though it does stop akihiko from drumming his pen in a erratic rhythm as he tried to sort out his thought process. shinji has to speak up a second time and break out an age old nickname to actually get his attention.

     ( he can’t help a wince at the way shinji wipes his hands on the apron. he understands that’s what it’s for in the end, but still. it means it’ll have to be washed and doing that without getting questions is awkward. )

          “ i told you not to go overboard, y’know. ” as soon as shinji tips his head in a ‘come here’ motion, akihiko can guess what he has to expect. the spread of his favorites does make his mouth water a little, even despite his scolding. “ you do this all the time. ”

     that’s an exaggeration, mostly because it’s been a while since they both managed to be around each other during his birthday. 

           “ -- thanks, shinji. i really appreciate it, y’know? . . .we should probably clean up before the others get back though. they can help us eat this, it’s definitely too much for just us two. ”
