Shoutout to Van (and Taissa after Van talked with her) for being the only one to recognize that Lottie needed support and not to just be sent away. To our knowledge she is the only one that owned up to the fact that their behavior towards Lottie was detrimental to her wellbeing. Both the believers and the non believers treated her as if she was not a girl like the rest of them. The believers made her a prophet, an enlightened being. The Non believers saw her as an evil manipulative person. And even after 25 yrs some of them still hold all of that anger towards, but not Van. That very iconic exchange of looks between Lottie and Van (u know the one) I always took it as Van realizing that what they unintentionally did to her out there ran wayyyy deeper and maybe, had they been just friends and not rivals or worshippers, Lottie wouldn’t have become who she is (which is definetly not a good person despite good (?) intentions)
