i do think it's really sad when faith is misinterpreted because of the effects of organised religion. like certain views and analyses of a religion completely invalidate the individuals experience, and something that one person mocks or is frustrated with is something holy and important to another person, and its even more frustrating when 9 times out of 10 the person mocking this thing has completely misunderstood it or isnt even attempting to see the good in it. not trying to say anything with this i just think there's a lot of misunderstanding and assumptions based on personal bad experience with or surface level understanding of a certain religion and it does way more harm than good. or whatever
#this applies to any religion but im specifically thinking of judaism and christianity#the laws and the way of life of judaism that someone very devout will choose to follow . well its sickening to see that ridiculed#especially on the basis of 'progressiveness'. its gross. im not religious but my grandmother is a practicing jew and#i love partaking in traditions and celebrating shabbat and other holidays with her#and when people take our rules and take my grandmas lifestyle as a laughing point and a 'gotcha' to homophobes#its fucking stupid!!!#and as for christianity well i think a lot of people forget that at its core its a very beautiful and welcoming faith#and jesus was a pretty cool dude#and its the systemicisation (?) of christianity and the way faith became an institution thats the problem#not the innocent + harmless person who believes that their faith will earn them eternal life like that's not a bad thing#and there is forgiveness the whole point of christianity is forgiveness!!!!! dont let the catholics and the orthodox trick u into#feeling guilt and trying ur whole life to earn grace and forgiveness!!!! again im literally not religious and definitely not christian#but a little understanding of what their is basis of faith is important!!!!!!#and yeah the majority of powerful christians suck but again thats the church's fault!!!!!!!!!!!!#this is such a stupid post but idk people seem real quick and eager to villify religion#any religion but it is definitely a huge issue of islamophobia and antisemitism#and while i do obviously hate a lot of what christianity has become and is associated with#i think a lot of the hate and criticism is misguided and people tend to focus on aspects of faith in a totally blinded and misguided way#like. u dont really know what ur talking about here do u#same with judaism god some people are so stupid about what jews believe and what scripture says!!!!! do ur research talk to a faithful jew#or mind ur own business!!!!!!!!!#delete later#Sorry.

Yanno, I have contemplated why I gain the ire of so many fuckwits on here and elsewhere. But when you get down to it, I think their consternation with the fact that I speak like I have an education is one big factor that gets to them. I’ve received more than just this lulzy ask attempting that insult me for my eloquence.
I get baseless accusations of Islamophobia tossed at me because apparently, taking issue with Islam’s violent hatred of gay people (Which especially bothers me as someone with numerous gay friends whom I love platonically) as well as its misogynistic and antisemitic elements is “racism” (Despite Islam not being a race) and “problematic”. This is despite the fact that I’m OK with Islam when its adherents practice it peacefully and I value the weight it places on such things as charity and fraternity.
I know for a fact that I’m subject to immense jealousy over my position within the Sonic Fandom, having had over 1 million hits on this blog, thousands of followers and having written for two of the most acclaimed Sonic fansites on the net, retired from one but still writing for the other.
Shame really. Maybe if the fuckwits put effort into gaining the attention they so obviously crave (For the record, any popularity/attention I got from my work is a side effect of it, not something I actively sought), they’d be more productive and perhaps happier rather than having to sink to the depths of slandering a stranger online. I saw this on SSMB from one member who was very obviously a popularity whore, visibly coveting the moderator position and apparently the “power” it brings (In reality, people who do this, seek positions like that do it because in reality, it’s no doubt going to be the only ounce of power they had or will ever have in their sad little lives) and evidently jealous of my staff/retired staff member group and the regard it brought.
And perhaps said fuckwits are the types who have very fragile minds, getting “offended” when I say something they don’t like about character/game/topic/series. Your issue with free speech and how it is expressed is not my problem. It is yours. This goes for the fuckwits who claim that I am “elitist” and a “snob” for asserting my views in the concise sometimes curt fashion that I do, which has everything to do with my frankness and nothing to do with elitism or snobbery. I think these people need to get a recap on the definition of those terms.
I think I should end on this - If you think that I’m the one with the problem in this whole BS, contemplate this;
- I’ve never libellously claimed that someone is a racist homophobe to turn people against them (Like SuperEmeralds did)
- I’ve never gone onto a campus, phone in hand, going to random strangers and showing a blog in an effort to rally hatred against a complete stranger online (Like CosmicFall did)
- I’ve never gone into some pathetic discord group and claimed that I wanted to fight a stranger (Like ShadowTheHedgehog/Carto did)
- I don’t call strangers online “bitches”, “fandom moms” (In some vain attempt to make out that someone’s age is relevant to their credibility in a fandom scene), or took the piss out of their physical appearance caused by their illness amongst MANY OTHER instances of disgusting slander (Like Windii has)
- And last but not least, I don’t place mega huge importance on your skin color, political adherence (Unless you’re a fascist or a communist in which case you can fuck off), sexuality, gender identity, religion, etc in a discussion involving fandom because it isn’t really all that relevant to fandom.
There’s many more examples than those choice ones I used to show how much shit has been flung at me for existing. I just gave you a small taster and can proide screenshot evidence in support of those claims.
TL;DR - I have existed in the Sonic fandom for 26 years and the online one for over 17 years, I’ve had bollocks tossed my way, I know the perpertrators are sad/jealous/liars/awful people themselves (circle as applicable), No, I’m not going to leave this site, twitter or any other Sonic fandom space that I’m present in especially if it is to satisfy you, I am provably better than my detractors for not being a liar/coward/fetishizer/ableist/insulting someone due to their illness-caused appearance.
Phew, sorry for the essay.
