I was on the phone with Tobin, talkin' bout how my great uncle died and how at his (Tobin’s) funeral, BEFORE, he's goin to tell EVERYBODY that I'm GOIN to say “Well, there goes a real sack of crap!” AT the funeral and to NOT get mad when I do say that
His words, “Mel’s threatened to say ‘there goes a real sack of crap!’ at the funeral, so DON'T get mad when they do!”
Followed by, “Can you IMAGINE how mad everybody would get after you said that?”
He's 53 and STILL ‘members the time I told him when he was in his 30s that I WAS GOIN TO SAY THAT WHEN HE DIES AT HIS FUNERAL
Like holy shit, this is one of the moments you KNOW that we're related
#that's a reference from The Simpsons that we would say ALL the time cause we had no wifi and would watch DVDs of whatever we had#and we had A LOT of The Simpsons DVDs (not the newer ones or the first two seasons cause we didn't really like those early episodes)#it was also cause Marge was SO annoyin in the first two seasons and would ONLY do that grumble noise SO annoyingly for NO damn reason#but yea#this is still a thing that I WILL fuckin do 😂#just WAIT till my twin gets up there after I say that#THAT'S when it'll be hilarious#we're so mean to each other in a funny way#but I also still have mixed feelings for him and that's why I'm literally goin to say that even if it does cause shit in the remainin family#he thinks that his older (by 12 YEARS) brother is goin to be there (somehow alive) when he dies and I'm just questionin if he's goin to die#early or somehow before his brother dies when his brother is 65 right now and if Tobin plans to die at the age of 70 when he's 82 then-#that's fuckin nuts and hilarious that he doesn't understand maths like that#cause I don't think my uncle (his brother) wants to live till he's 82 or even in his 80s#but he's got a good 15 years to go (cause he's also REALLY healthy and not in Bad shape at all like Tobin is cause of his poor choices)#and I don't think Tobin wants to live another 15 years to only croak at 68 cause THAT'S young to die at#so this whole ramble in the tags of maths in shit is just a conclusion that his brother is definitely not goin to be at his funeral to hear-#me say that and I won't get in trouble by HIM but MAYBE my aunt who's 6 years YOUNGER than Tobin#BUT I DO WHAT I WANT AUNT FITTY AND YOU CAN'T STOP ME FROM SAYIN THAT WHEN THE TIME COMES#sorry for the long ramble#ramble in the tags#I need to shut up#Shut up G#not DC#not DC related#personal#personal post

My score sheets for the animatio battle.
Week 1: Out of both of these, while I feel like overall Adventure Time is a better show, Regular Show is much more fun and enjoyable. The characters might not be as memorable but while Adventure time had the strongest individual characters, Regular show had the strongest cast. My choice, RS. Winner, AT.
Week 2: This is probably just my bias since I grew up with it, but I preferred The Simpsons. The characters just seem so much more recognizeable and memorable compared to those in Bojack Horseman. They're both good cartoons. But if we were shown the new Simpons (not counting the *really* good new episodes) instead of the golden age I feel like I'd prefer Bojack Horseman. I had never seen it before either. My choice, TS. Winner, BH.
Week 3: This week was an especially close one as they both had strengths in similar areas, and that they had a lot of improv in them too. I prefered the style of Rick and Morty but Bob's Burgers had a wider cast of interesting characters. Rick and Morty characters are definitely *more* interesting, but it doesn't count as they do a bunch of interdimensional and interplanetary stuff so it wouldn't make sense to just have humans. If we were shown newer Rick and Mortt stuff, it may have lost due to it falling off like the simpsons. My choice, BB. Winner, R&M.
Week 4: This was an interesting one as I had never seen either show before. Both were 10 minute cartoons unlike the others thar were ~24 minutes long. Bee and Puppycat was interesting as it had characters that already knew eachother and it was easy to distinguish them and tell their personalities from theie appearance. Plus Puppycat sounded like he had Hatsune Miku software for his voice and was also gibberish. Steven Universe seemed more up my alley though as it had a more arc based story which I like in what I watch, the animation style was nice as well. The vote for the winner was incredibly close, if I remember right it was 10-12. If I had chosen Bee and Puppycat it would have been a tie. My choice, SU. Winner, SU.
Week 5: This one was probably the biggest outlier of them all as it was old timey cartoons, even though I watched them when I was younger and still have some DVDs. Looney Tunes has a much widey range of characters, and is definitely more memorable. Many people even think Tom and Jerry is from Looney Tunes as well. (I thought so too but that's not important.) I personally prefered Tom and Jerry though, probably because I was a dumb kid who liked watching a cat chase a mouse and do sword fights with it sometimes, I'm surprised we weren't shown the giant dinner table and pool table episodes as they seemed like the most famous. My choice, T&J. Winner, T&J.
Week 6: Yet another interesting week as I hadn't seen either of them before. Gravity Falls appears to have a basic "monster/problem of the week" format like many cartoons but I'm aware that it does have episodes that link together and ends up having a more story based approach later on. Over the Garden Wall though seems to shake it up a bit by having it play out more like a novel, very similar to Beast Quest especially. It appears that each episode has a single problem to solve but I'll probably have to watch more to understand. It was a very hard choice for me as I liked both a lot, I ended up having to do a random number generator to pick which ended out being Gravity Falls. It was rather unanymous though and I think I prefer Over the Garden Wall now. My choice, tie. Winner, GF.
Now for my overall winner. If I had to pick from all 12 to win, I'd definitely pick Regular Show. But, if I have pick from the 6 winners I'd most likely pick Adventure Time, both out of principle from it beating Regular Show but also because it's just overall a good show in genral. It even has some serious parts with darker story elements, like that Crystal Apple episode.

Can u further elaborate on the South Park to Samurai Jack post? did I miss some info from an interview somewhere?
Naw, it’s just simply me noticing a chain of events that have lead to a bigger picture.
I’m just speculating because it lines up in my brain, I could very well be wrong, tho…
It’s worth noting that because of South Park and its impact on Adult animation as a whole (one could say that it was among the first widely known true Adult animation, as “The Simpsons” is a bit more family oriented in the sense that the Simpsons can be marketed to kids more readily, or rather, it WAS in the 90s), that you can say that it’s existence is why we allow for a greater creative control on animation content, and the existence of Adult animation in its current form.
While South Park is in no way similar to the Samurai Jack (except maybe comparisons to how both programs boasts a sort of “cut out” paper/edgeless style that was digitized in later episodes), we have South Park to thank for the fact that certain restrictions are no longer enforced in animated stuff. Have you noticed that some words are no longer bleeped out adult programs? South Park helped in that, there’s whole episodes around the idea that censorship is really pointless sometimes.
I doubt that programming like “Rick and Morty” would have a stable foothold had it been created and aired about a decade ago. Adult Swim exists as a sort of programming time block to air a lot of adult oriented programs late at night, many of the original Adult Swim cartoons took inspiration from the likes of South Park, Simpsons and Family Guy, the latter of which is a regular program there that is often aired mildly edited compared to its syndicated airings. One can’t forget Robot Chicken, either, a show built upon satirical parody that has grown over the years to be more witty (although just as immature at times)
Adult Swim’s existence began around the time many of us current viewers were children, and I’d be lying if I said didn’t defy the rules every now and then to watch some adult cartoons as a kid. I used to stay up late to tune into these bizzare shows, and they often aired after Cartoon Network closed up for the night after showing some Samurai Jack and Dragon Ball Z reruns, and of course you know that I enjoyed those two shows.
When Toonami was initially axed almost a decade ago, it was essentially an amalgamation of CN and AS at the time, a sort of time block geared towards the teens in between the kids and adults.
Toonami was also an avid airing platform for episodes of Samurai Jack, and was in fact rerunning the show until the very last original broadcast, before TOM shut down the Absolution and flew off into space.
Years later, those teens would grow up into adults, many of whom moved onto Adult Swim more regularly and with less fear of being caught, because we were adults. Every year, Adult Swim would air “The Room” for April Fools, but one year, they decided to revive Toonami for us as a sort of fun prank. A full night of nostalgia, wow.
The reception was tremendous and it didn’t take long for Adult Swim to announce a special Saturday night block for Toonami to take place during the usual AS hours, and it was made with us original fans and new fans in mind.
They aired not only popular Anime, but they also brought back “Symbiotic Titan”, which was a popular but short lived animated children’s series by none other than Genndy Tartokovsky, creator of Samurai Jack. This opened many doors, and requested nostalgic programing flooded the mailbag. I think I recall them running the newer Thundercats too, and they certainly brought back DBZ as well as found a platform for the new Dragon Ball Super.
That in mind, it was only a matter of time before the people at CN Studios got the word that we wanted Samurai Jack as one of the more requested shows to be rerun on the block, despite the original series being TV-Y7 FV.
The block would come to run it as a test, and it garnered a lot of positive responses. Before you know it, the green light for the long awaited (I mean, like, the time waited is almost as old as my cat is, and my cat is old for a cat) Season 5 and/or Movie was given, and within a couple years, we were finally given a final closure we had waited so long for as children.
See, while CN is the original block for Jack, the original demographic had long since moved on, and the current kids already have thier beloved series. Also, by the looks of it, much of the original series has been reevaluated, and it’s been deemed as “Unrated” on the DVDs I have, probably due to content matter and unnerving visuals from time to time. It would not be a series that could be produced for today’s kids, I don’t think, as values and stuff have changed.
That said, Season 5 being created for and airing on Adult Swim is perfect in itself, because the children who watched Jack and his adventures have now aged and while we love whimsical tales as much as anyone else, we also like some food action. Jack has aged with us, and the new season was smart to take advantage of the new freedom of control without going overboard.
Which brings me back to South Park.
Had it not been for that show pushing the envelope, and daring to cross the line in what can be deemed as acceptable or not, while also growing as show and eventually gaining a sort of strange charm to it, thus becoming so popular, then we likely wouldn’t have had a separate genre for adult animation, nor would we have even had enough programming to garner a new separate channel that is so experimental and bold.
That very same channel that knows how to listen to its audience and knows what we’re there for.
A channel that knows what the audience grew up with, and knows what to satirize, and knows that the viewers are what keeps it afloat.
No South Park means No Adult Swim.
No Adult Swim means No New Toonami.
No New Toonami means there wouldn’t have been Samurai Jack Season 5.
But hey, that’s just my theory. I’m basing it all off of observation and years of being a consumer of Cartoon Network Studios. :P

Have you ever tried to walk on a moving vehicle and fallen over?: I’ve lost my balance while walking to an empty seat in jeepneys. Cos what usually happens is that the jeepney drivers resume driving as soon as you’re aboard the jeep, and so they don’t give a crap whether you’re already sitting or still on your way to a seat haha.
As for falling over, it’s probably happened to me as a kid when I still rode the school bus. We were always rowdy in the afternoon and would walk all over the bus, so I’m not ruling it out.
What is your favourite kind of bread? Is there any of that in your house?: BRIOCHE is the shit, yo.
Do you own any equipment to make cocktails, like jiggers or shakers?: Nah. My family – save for me lmao – isn’t big on drinking, so there’s never been a need for us to get equipment. We literally only have one bottle of Jack Daniel’s and like two bottles of wine in the house hahaha, a far cry from what I usually see in my friends’ houses.
How many times have you seriously injured yourself?: Can’t count them on one hand, that’s for sure. I’ve sprained my left foot from tripping in school (in front of an ongoing protest, to make things worse), had a toe or two caught in a bike’s pedal crank, a foot infection from the sea, scraped the skin from my palm when I had to use the bass drum in high school, shocked (also) my palm trying to plug something, and tripped multiple times as a kid and made my knee bleed.
When was the last time you were a passenger in a car and sat in the back?: Sunday. My siblings and I were at the back, but it was also to drop my sister off at her dorm so the second half of the ride was just me and my brother.
Did you attend Sunday School as a child?: Bleck, no. Despite being forced to attend almost every single Sunday mass since I was 4, I’m glad my mom never made me attend anything beyond that.
What is the longest your hair has ever been?: It’s reached my hips many times - that’s the longest I let it be, because my hair tends to be dry and it’s not the prettiest sight when too much of it is happening lmao.
What about the shortest? (not including being a toddler or baby): When I was 4, 7, and 10 my mom had my hair cut all the way up to my ears because my hair is quite frizzy and she didn’t like that I didn’t have the tendency to tie my hair up in a ponytail. Naturally her response was to just have all my hair cut off lol, bt those three years were miserable as I hated the look and it made me feel like a boy. The third time she had it cut was the last one on my watch; I started tied my hair up in a ponytail every day if it meant she was hands off of my hair and how I wanted to look.
Have you ever smoked a cigarette?: LMAO y’all are gonna be SO disappointed. I smoke socially now. It started in January when I was out with high school friends and at one point literally every one of them headed out to have a smoke break; and I didn’t like being left alone inside the bar so I went out with them. I figured I was getting all the health effects from the secondhand smoke anyway so I asked for a cigarette and asked them to teach me how to use it. The rest is disappointing history.
Are/were you in the school band, and if so, what instrument did you play?: No, definitely not musically inclined.
Who does the grocery shopping in your household?: My mom. Sometimes my dad would do it when he’s home, but even then my mom provides the list of which things to buy.
What is the best thing you’ve ever bought at a thrift shop?: Not sure if it counts as a thrift shop but I once found a newer edition of the WWE Encyclopedia in a bookstore that solely sells donated/used books. I never get to see wrestling merch in real life – much less in thrift stores – so I didn’t even need to think when it came to buying it. It ended up being super worth it; those books typically cost P1,500 to P2,000, and if I’m not mistaken I got it for like P450.
Have you ever ordered an unusual drink at a bar?: Nah, I have my usuals. There was only one time I bought an uncommon drink and it was in Makati Shang – I barely remember anything about it but I do remember that it was topped with egg whites lol. Think I bought it just to feel fancy for once, even though my usuals were also in the menu.
What is your favourite thing about summer?: The beach, mainly. I’d mention getting the chance to rest, but I’m on my last year of college and have literally run out of summer vacations at this point.
When was the last time you went to your local library?: Just a kind disclaimer that we acually don’t have public libraries, because the government could not care the fuck less. As for my college’s library, I last went maybe a month ago? to pick up a book that had a chapter in it that I needed to read for a class.
Do you have any friends who work in retail?: I don’t think so.
Can you do a proper cartwheel?: Nooooooo. But I tried so many times as a kid. I also nearly broke my arms so many times as a kid, so there’s that.
Have you ever been pulled aside by security at the airport?: Not me, but my mom. We were in Shanghai and both my mom and the guards couldn’t figure out what it was inside her bag that kept making the machine beep. While I’ve forgotten what the thing was when we did find out, I do remember that it was such a stupid, small issue and the guards were being unnecessary bitches throughout the whole thing.
Are you a fast-thinker or a slow-thinker?: More on fast. I hate mulling over on anything for too long.
Do you watch The Simpsons regularly?: No. I always watched Family Guy more often.
If you were to donate to charity today, what would you donate to?: PAWS! They’re an NGO focused on animal welfare. I’ve always wanted to volunteer but just never have the time to.
What is your favourite card game and when was the last time you played it?: I dunno what it’s called anymore but Angela taught us a card game where we toss cards onto the the table and when the last two cards add up to a certain number, we race to see who can slam their hand onto the pile of cards haha. I’ve always been a slow adder so I always lose, but it’s still a fun game.
Would you consider yourself to be good at spelling and grammar?: Relatively better than a lot of Filipinos, yeah.
Who was the last person you cuddled with?: Idk, I only ever do this with my girlfriend.
Have you ever spoken or performed on stage in front of a large audience?: I’ve done both.
Did you ever go to summer camp when you were younger?: Nah, I doubt my mom would’ve let me go anyway as a kid. I did go to a sports clinic – I did swimming when I was 9.
What is your favourite seasonal candy? (only available at certain times): Meh I’m not a big candy fan. I can give you seasonal menu items, though hahah. I love McDonald’s’ McSpicy and curly fries and KFC’s Double Down. They haven’t been bringing McSpicy back for a long time now though :/
Are there any television shows you own in entirety on DVD or VHS?: I have a bootleg collection of the 80s show Perfect Strangers.
How far away from your house is the nearest gas station?: I’d say 10 minutes, but this is because our house is situated at the very end of our village. If we lived near the main gate, it would probably take like three minutes to get to the first gas station nearby.
Do you know anyone who is fluent in a second tongue?: Virtually all Filipinos are bilingual, and those who are trilingual closely trail by. In the city, most if not all know English/Filipino, but there are so many others who know English, Filipino, and the local language of their province, e.g. Bikolano, Ilonggo, Ilokano, Cebuano. Language is kind of a big deal here that you’re considered boring if you only know English and Filipino hahaha.
When was the last time you had a bubble bath?: Maybe a year ago.
Have you ever been pressured into doing drugs? Did you say yes or no?: No. At least not yet, lmao.
