Rewatching Pilot and realizing how red Karen Swenson's hair is and something something Karen-Billy-Theresa/Scully-Mulder-Samantha parallels. It's not a fully formed thought. But there's something.
#the x-files#yes i know they end up married#tell me that samantha isn't the great love of mulder's life before scully#no one ever said the man was modeling or modeled healthy relationships#at first glance they look like a naive victim a pawn/perpetrator and the heir to a crime who learned too much and couldn't be tolerated#but they're really all victims#the adults around them are the perpetrators#as if anyone would have believed theresa if she'd revealed what she suspected#and then scully with the same marks as karen (almost)#billy woken from his long sleep to a world in which he's both a bad guy and an innocent (oh hello mulder-style baggage)#and theresa spirited away from her conspirator parents in order to protect her#damn after 30 years i'm still seeing something new#oh AND#karen seems like a silent victim#but she's the key to cracking the whole case#meanwhile scully is supposed to be a spy/mole and ends up as mulder's greatest ally#and karen sees billy for who he is - she knows him
