i'm seeing translations of kto's interview around and he talked abt ljh's supposed backstory there… sorry but why did that have to come from the actor and not the show itself 💀

like as a writer, i know there are times when you come up with a character's story but you can't find a way to explicitly include it in the story, but it's supposed to manifest in the story and character somehow. this is one of those situations where that backstory didn't manifest at all in the character, so i'm left wondering if there's even a point to mentioning it

i'm even wondering if kto himself came up with it himself (like how yjg came up with his character's backstory in hdl bc the script was that dry)

just . meh

#rant #sorry the writing is just not top tier in this show #abt the last paragraph . maybe it did come from the writer and that was mentioned in the interview but not the translated excerpts #++ improvs and details abt the character that are added by the pd/actor are not faults of the writer btw #(like helloooo i'm sure ksy pd and ssk added so much to gu w/o phy's intervention that we just don't know of)#but going back to e a w . these side characters are as thin and flat as a sheet of paper #and even w y w's character arcs were either cut short or completely vanished somehow #idk i just have frustrations w this show's writing #i'm glad ppl had fun and liked the characters and the stories or w/e #but let's not claim that it's a perfect work #esp in terms of writing #and even directing!!! there was so much care and magic in the first eps that vanished in the recent ones #and the final 'parallels' to the first ep felt lazy and meaningless to me #or is that another issue with the writing lol
