what would you say is your favorite part of the au?

multiple things but right now it’s baron

i haven’t mentioned baron at all yet but baron is in fact a character in this au (“was” is probably the better word because they’re not actually There in the manor, but they were a part of riz’s life when he was alive.)

and background context i am aroace and i have always had this fear of “if i was born back in the day i’d feel pressured to get married and pretend to be normal because i wouldn’t have words for my lack of feeling” and so baron in this au was made!

in life, riz and baron were partners but i’ve never really elaborated on baron as a person because they still only exist as a symbol of riz’s fear, and that symbolism mostly exists as the ring on riz’s finger that he can never take off because ghosts can’t permanently throw out their accessories. it’s just the looming thing of “you will never escape this fear even in death”

riz doesn’t mention baron like at all and none of the ghosts know about them because riz never lived in the manor so it’s very much a secret thing for him. all the ghosts have their own little secrets of course

scal definitely has a diff answer and you should totally ask him
