#umineko liveblog#ep1 reread#given that maria is right about everything and this is a pretty blatant Sign of beatrice's emergence/presence#i think there's something here about battler who is furthest removed from the ushiromiya family immediately noticing it#to circle back to all that stuff about embracing/noticing/rejecting magic#battler who later denies the existence of magic still is among the first to recognise its effects#even if he goes against his base instincts and tries to explain it with facts and logic#but given that some subconsious part of him is this sharp i wonder what would happen in a direct interaction between himself and beatrice#or like. as direct as you can get when beatrice only exists in obfuscation and metaphor and narrative speculation#so less a 'battler and beatrice in the same room' scenario#and more a 'beatrice uses her magic to directly target battler' scenario#and idk how magic is being defined in a greater context#but it seems that ushiromiya = not perceiving the magic#and battler who is trying to reintegrate can perceive it on a base level but his higher order thinking rejects it#which means that for maximal omen freakout i think you should stick kanon (magic believer who rejects the ushiromiyas) on the boat
