#thinking about this one time last year#i was omw to Dublin for mcr#and was sat across on the train with a wee teenybopper also goin to mcr#and we were chattin away all excited for the concert when i get a duolingo notif#and i was like oo just gimme 2 mins so i keep my streak#and they were like ''what language are you learning''#and i say irish coz thats what it was. never felt like i learned near enough my own country's language in school#so i take it upon my 20s to learn#and this kid was DISGUSTED with me learnin irish?! all 'why would you bother it's a dead language' LIKE#n i tried to stay lighthearted about it all ''awk ykno. gotta take back what da English stole for us 🤪🤪🤪''#but no dice#this child hated their own country's language and ur left wondering what the hell went wrong#i get it irish is a hard language but we fought so hard to keep it in existance ygm?#and i think it's cool i get the jist of scottish gaelic with it like hell yeah 😎#anyways#the irish duolingo's not half bad. even if a lot of the pronunciations are connacht/donegal irish... never munster 🫶
