Hiiii! I really loved your latest request with baby Druig being very protective of Thena!
Would you do another one where he still hasn’t forgiven Gil and would interfere between them and calling out loudly „PERSONAL SPACE!“?
Would be amazing!❤️❤️
"Hey, you're back," Gil smiled as the front door closed gently.
"Hey," Thena smiled as Druig kicked his shoes off and flung them so he could unpack his new toy.
They had decided a day with just her and Druig would be good for him. He was still a little sensitive after the whole 'crying' incident. He had been asked to forgive and forget, but it seemed that he had agreed before his mind could really grasp it completely.
"How is he?" Gil whispered, holding out his hand for Thena to come over to him.
"Better," she whispered back, sighing with relief now that they were no longer in a massive toy store or the mall or wherever else they had gone. She leaned against him, his hand on her back. "Although he's still a little clingy."
Gil just nodded. It made sense for Druig to be subconsciously hovering, even if he wasn't aware of it.
"Personal space!"
Gil sighed. This was exactly what they had been trying to work on. Even since they resolved his latent anxieties, he had still insisted on a certain amount of 'personal space' between his mother and Gil at all times.
But he accepted the boundary, lifting his hand from Thena's back and stepping away from her. "Hey, buddy, how was your day?"
Druig eyed him for just a moment, clinging to his plush toy. "Good."
"Good?" Gil repeated. He knew that Druig's trust wouldn't just get repaired overnight. Even if he wasn't actively thinking it, Druig was now wary of the person who was always by his mother's side. "What have you got there?"
"Darling?" Thena cooed, bending down and letting him run over to her. He rested his hand on her knee for support.
"Issa cheetah," he mumbled, still clinging to the seated plush in his arms.
"A cheetah, eh?" Gil grinned, "like Makkari's favourite animal?"
Druig nodded.
"I'll bet she'd love to see it," Gil suggested gently. "Maybe you can bring it for show and tell."
"Maybe," Druig mumbled.
Thena traded a look with Gil before picking Druig up in her arms. "And how was your day?"
"Pretty normal," he smiled at her. Just looking at her was a relief, really. "Got some grading done, there's chicken in the oven."
Druig kicked his feet a little, "is there one for me?"
"Yes, buddy, there's a plain one just for you," Gil promised. His immediate thought was to ruffle the boy's hair, but he held back. He wasn't sure how receptive to that Druig would be in his current state. "I was about to start the pasta. Would you like to help me?"
"Hm," Druig pursed his lips, making both parents smile at how much he looked like Thena when he did. "Yes."
"Okay, Darling," Thena acquiesced, kneeling again to set him down gently. She ran her hand through his hair, "and what do we have to do when we help in the kitchen?"
Druig glanced down at his cheetah. "Put away our toys."
"Very good," she whispered, accepting the cheetah from him for safe keeping, "and?"
"And wash our hands!" he nearly screamed, already running to the kitchen to do so.
Thena sighed, moving slower to follow him with his cheetah in hand. She looked up at Gil, "quick--while he's not looking?"
Gil grinned, wasting no time in leaning down to kiss his girlfriend. He kissed her fervently, his hand sliding up her back while the other held her hip. She whimpered into it, which he swallowed greedily.
"Mister Dad! I need my stool!!"
They broke apart with equal frustration and fondness. At least he hadn't regressed into calling him 'Mister Gil' again. Thena ran her hand over his arm, "you go. I'm going to get changed."
"Okay," he chuckled, kissing her cheek again before parting ways. He gave her a wink, "until tonight?"
She smiled, smoothing down her hair for the sake of it, "I'll look forward to it."

i’m sorry i left, but it was for the best.
though it never felt right,
my little versailles.

when you first came to earth, being alone was the scariest concept to you.
thankfully, you were always surrounded by the other eternals and things were good. at some point, you even made a best friend in the group.
druig and you were never seen without each other. the group understood that your companionship ran deeper than the rest.
when they discovered that you both had fallen in love, it was no surprise. sprite had spent a few hundred years speaking of the love that you both shared and now she could finally stop changing the names in the stories.
after ikaris and sersi had their wedding, you asked druig if you could make vows to each other since you were both uninterested in having some big display of your love. he agreed and that night, under the stars, you both promised each other eternity.
neither of you could’ve suspected what would come centuries later in the aftermath of the emergence being stopped.
when druig had asked to speak with you privately in ajak’s home after everything had happened with the emergence, you had not expected him to tell you that he was planning on leaving again. it also caught you off guard that he wanted you to come with him this time. he had seemed shocked when you had laughed bitterly.
when he asked you why you didn’t want to come with him, you couldn’t stop yourself from snapping.
“druig, you fucking left me. not the other way around. how am i supposed to just forget that after everything you promised me?”
“druig, you fucking left me. not the other way around. how am i supposed to just forget that after everything you promised me?”
he’s silent, his whole body is tense. his jaw is clenched and he can’t make eye contact, but that just adds to the rage that’s building in your chest. it’s been centuries and he’s still speechless.
“if i walk out that door, you’re never going to see me again. so, tell me now dru. why the fuck did you leave?”
silence.
scoffing, you shake your head and turn away. you barely register that you’re approaching the door until you’re stopped in front of it. the anger doesn’t outweigh the ache in your chest, but you grit your teeth as you grab the doorknob.
“you wouldn’t have seen the stars.”
the words make you freeze. his voice came out choked and his words cracked. you don’t look back, but you hear him sigh and sniffle quietly before he continues.
“you’ve loved the stars for centuries. the first time you smiled was when you looked out the window of the domo and saw them, love. that was the first time i fell in love with you.”
your grip tightens on the doorknob and you bite your lip to hold back the sob threatening to break free from your chest.
“for as long as i knew you, you would go to look at the stars every night. it didn’t matter how tired or busy you were or if it was pouring rain that night. you would sit and stare at the sky.”
the floor of ajak’s spare bedroom creaks quietly as druig paces behind you, but he doesn’t come closer. he respects the boundary you put up between the two of you and you slowly release the doorknob.
“when i saw the fighting getting worse that night, i fully planned on grabbing your hand and running away from it all with you after we killed the last of the deviants. but then everything with thena happened and i knew you would want to know if she was okay first.”
he pauses before sighing heavily, “so, we waited and as i stared out across the fighting below us, i knew i had to save the humans from themselves.”
his pacing had stopped, but he was speaking much faster. he sounded frustrated and was clearly reliving that night the same way you were.
in that moment, it feels like you can still feel the burning in your lungs from the smoke. screams still echo in your ears and you remember how still thena was while she was laying on the table for ajak to watch over her.
druig’s voice is shaky as he continues, “i didn’t want to remove them from the area they were familiar with so i knew the amazon was the only choice. but as i was looking over the fighting and the forest, i could only think about how you wouldn’t be able to see the stars through the trees.”
you feel jolted back to reality by his words. your brows crease angrily and you finally turn around to find druig knelt on the ground with tears streaming down his face.
agony is painted across his face, but that doesn’t stop you from hissing, “i care about you more than some stars.”
he shakes his head and his blue eyes shine brightly in this light as he stares up at you.
“love, i knew you would say that. but i also knew that as centuries passed, you would miss the stars and the constellations. i knew that you would never say anything to me directly about it, but it would kill you a little on the inside more and more as time went on.”
druig stops and his eyes drop to the floor. his words are louder now, firm in his belief as he choked out, “i knew you would eventually hate me for it.”
you try to hold your composure, but a few tears break loose and soon you’re crying openly. tongue heavy with emotion, you swallow hard before insisting, “i could never, dru-“
he rises to his feet once more and takes a step closer. running a hand through his dark hair, he cuts you off and his accent is more prominent.
“a while back, i met up with gilgamesh and thena so he could go on a vacation. before i left, i asked if they knew anything about you. he told me that you had found happiness in a small cottage outside of glasgow. he showed me all the letters you had sent him and thena.”
the information surprises you. gilgamesh and thena had stayed with you for a few years after the group split apart so once you left, you always sent them a letter each year to stay in contact.
“and when i read them, i knew you would never have been happy in the forest away from the stars and the river you go to and the bakery you visited.”
you take a step forward and your heart is nearly beating out of your chest from being this close to him. any anger you held has dissipated and now you felt the familiar ache of how much you’ve missed him.
the silence that fills the air is suffocating so you speak before you can stop yourself.
“i went to glasgow because it hurt too much to be around people with irish accents, but i missed your voice too much to go somewhere else that was nothing similar to yours.”
druig blinks in surprise at the confession, but you’re not done.
“i always mentioned the river in the letters because it reminded me of the place that we had our first kiss at. the bakery was my favorite place to go because i knew that you would love all of the food they had.”
the words felt natural falling from your tongue and you were lost in them as you step forward once more. druig stares down at you and you can feel his warmth radiating off of him. your hands are shaking by your side so you gently place them on his chest to steady them for a moment.
“druig, every time i look at you, i see stars in your eyes. everything i’ve come to love about this planet is through my love for you.”
tears are welling up in your eyes once more and druig’s hands are ghosting above your face. you sense his hesitance to make that move so you lean your face into him for comfort.
he sighs shakily and you can barely hear him as he whispers your name.
squeezing your eyes shut, you focus on the feeling of his chest beneath your palms, his hands holding your face.
“ask me again, druig.”
he stares at you in confusion so you lick your lips and repeat yourself, “ask me to come with you, druig.”
his grip on your face tightens and he rubs a thumb across you cheek for a moment. when he speaks, tears are in his eyes once more.
“love, i have made so many mistakes in my time on this planet. the only thing i got right was loving you, but at some point, i fucked that up as well.”
druig stops to shakily take a breath, his eyes searching yours for a moment. when he speaks again, his voice is tight with emotion as he begs, “i know it will take time to repair the trust i have broken and to earn your forgiveness. but i will work for it. if you give me this second chance, love, i will do it right. will you come with me and let me start over?”
slowly, you nod your head and whisper, “let’s begin again, druig.”
