Finally found time to finish one piece live action,,,, why did they change Nami's backstory like that?? Bruhh
#also something rllly off about pushing the fishmen/slavery thing#bc any time any fantasy thing pushes a slavery subplot it is in order to mirror real life#but fishmen ARE a superior being capable of easily rising over others#black folks are just humans the same as their white oppressors#it just plays into the black ppl are tougher and stronger than white ppl narrative I feel#in the manga/anime did they have a plotline like that? I don't remember but I feel like Arlong just wanted to rule bc he wanted to rule#and he hated fishmen bc the majority of the other fishmen were too pacifistic for him#idk tho I read it when I was younger so! maybe the plotline was always like that with fishmen#but in any case#I disliked how they altered Nami's backstory#bc it always touched me so deeply that everyone loved and supported her silently because they believed in her#maybe they didn't want to create a 'and we the adults put all the work on the girl child's shoulders' plotline#but that original storyline was SO tight dude#other than that I enjoyed the live action and adore the cast#as a zoro lover they got my king SO right#one piece
