care to elaborate on those college au gymnast regina head cannons 👀
Sure here are some self-indulgent headcanons:
Regina is a Big Time Perfectionist and is known for never falling in competition (à la Margzetta Frazier), her lines, and her showmanship.
Regina is best at beam. She has the anchor spot in the line-up. She has some unique skills, like a side aerial + back layout stepout (this has become common in elite but NCAA is generally not about risk-taking).
She hates wolf turns and thinks they're ugly. (I hate wolf turns and I think they're ugly.)
Her weakest event is bars (generally the taller you are the more difficult bars is).
Regina was an all-arounder but she had a big fall on vault during practice at the end of the previous year and fractured her spine. She's been cleared to do gymnastics again for awhile but now she has a mental block on vault (which is not great for the team since she had a 10.0 start value vault).
She started gymnastics at 4 and started competing when she was 7 as a level 4. I think she qualified elite but ultimately decided she didn't want to give up school and her social life so she stayed at level 10.
Regina is still healing from the pressure to never make a mistake and the body shaming she experienced in JO. And by "still healing" I mean she has done zero therapy and has completely internalized it.
She's a ponytail and ribbons meet day hair girlie. You will NOT catch her wearing scrunchies. Messy buns are for practice only.
She wears beam shoes.
I've spent a lot of time listening to floor music and I have settled on this being Regina's floor music.
Her leotard collection is unmatched. She has Nike Pro spandex in every color.
An Olivia Dunne fan. ONLY for the gymnastics though. Definitely not for any other reason.
