Spending the night with Sakuya, Itaru, and Hisoka!
A/N: not a request but it’s been sitting in my folders since the Nightwalk event^^ might as well set it free ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ also experimenting with new formatting so tell me how y’all like it (it was bad - sora from the future)
Tumblr media
➥ Sakuya
- You and him had just finished a project for chemistry class when you both realized how late it was.
- “Ah, it’s 1AM, I should get going-“
- “No! [Name], it’s too late and Veludo isn’t… very safe at night,” the pink haired boy started with a soft blush, “It’d be best y-you, stayed the night. Only if you want to!”
- That’s how you found yourself crashing on Citron and Sakuya’s room that night.
- At first it was kind of awkward, just the thought of laying in bed with your boyfriend made you lose your mind a bit- that is until he decides to give you one of his shirts and shorts for the night as he went to change.
- When he came out, you giggled a bit at the bunny-patterned pajama he was wearing.
- “You look so cute!” You’d exclaim as you pinched his cheek.
- “S-stwop,” his cheeks would grow a bright pink the more you complimented him.
- Citron, who had been out wandering the Veludo night-scene came home to you two laying on Sakuya’s bed snuggling into each other watching old Mankai tapes.
- After that, you both talked about theater and how excited you were for the future while listening to music Masumi had recommended to Sakuya earlier.
- By the time you both feel asleep, cuddled up together it was 6AM, thank god it was a weekend.
- Due to starting the sleepover late at night, you weren’t able to have the full experience; but the time you did have together was enough for Sakuya to have fallen in love with you all over again.
Tumblr media
➥ Hisoka
- It’d been snowing that day, neither you nor Hisoka had taken that into account when you invited him over to your place.
- By the time he’d have to leave the roads were blocked by a thick layer of snow that seemed to keep piling up.
- “Hisoka, don’t worry! You can stay over the night, we’ll just call Izumi and explain it,” you reasoned it out rather quickly, probably due to Hisoka being extremely fond of your bed.
- After calling Izumi and assuring her that Hisoka was safe and sound, you decided to make this fun for both of you.
- “Ah, do I smell… marshmallows?” Hisoka woke up from his nap to find you fooling around making him some hot chocolate and microwave s’mores.
- “Mhm, since you’re staying over and it’s kind of cold, I thought that we could cuddle in bed eating something for the night.”
- You didn’t have to argue with him at all, all it took him was you and him cuddling in your bed with marshmallows to have him hooked.
- That’s how you and Hisoka spent his first night over at your place watching movies (probably some old romcom) and eating sweets, eventually he fell asleep cuddling your chest.
- You two woke up tangled in each other’s embrace and found that the snow was slowly melting, and so as a final treat you stayed warm in bed for the rest of the day until late in the afternoon.
- It wasn’t a super exciting night, but you enjoyed spending some extra time with him nonetheless.
Tumblr media
➥ Itaru
- His dumbass had invited you over to his dorm to play a new game, that little shit didn’t bother reading the weather forecast to learn that a lightning storm was going to bestow Veludo way.
- You had no way to go since your car was in the repair shop and Itaru kind of felt guilty making you take the public transport and Sakyo wasn’t allowing him to use the car in case he crashed during the storm.
- So, you were now stuck staying over at the dorms, Izumi (being an absolute sweetheart) didn’t hesitate to lend you some clothes (from both hers and Itaru’s closet; “Don’t worry! If our stuff doesn’t fit we have like 18 other guys here raging from different sizes we got you”) for the night, she even offered to wash your clothes for you in case you needed it :’)
- Now, with some new clothes on, you’re in Itaru’s disgustingly messy room! He’s kind of awkward at first, like, sure you’re dating and shit but his room isn’t the nicest to stay over at.
- He suggests playing another round of the game he had shown you earlier so you do and you bet your ass he let you win because like… shut up you’re cute and he’s your boyfriend and he can level up later or whatever… dummy
- After some time, you’d ask if you have any quieter, more lowkey games and he pulls out ACNH and that’s when shit gets real.
- You bet your ass he already made you a villager and has a house for you and bought you clothes he thought were cute on you… say thank you Ruru~
- His island is very chaotic, it’s not messy but it’s like… ??? Sir?? What the fuck is going on?? He probably has a part that’s just water where he puts one ugly ass villager in it and makes it suffer, says it helps him unwind- someone call PETA on him plz
- Has so many snacks on hand, like you won’t need to go outside at all. He just asks you what snack you want and he just hands it to you, it’s very cute.
- Eventually when you get tired of AC, you both watch an anime or whatever his weeb ass pulls out, probably a slice of life for you and whenever the couple does something cheesy and cute he goes “omg let’s do that” to make you blush.
- I hate him but oh my god is he whipped for you.
- By the time you’re both tired and done with both gaming and binge watching shit, it’s like 4AM so you two climb on his bed and cuddle.
- It’s a weeby sleepover but it’s okay you both loved it.

Sometimes Elliot will also claim that he’s heard Chirp talk but no one can tell if he’s telling the truth or not (He’s not even sure at this point)
Lesbian ace and is highkey dating Riella
Elliot pretends it annoys him but secretly he’s thrilled because he adores the both of them (he’d never reveal this but Sparrow knows anyway)

Nyk usually braids it for her before classes
Ig Nyk just braids everyone’s hair smh

He started walking her to that class just in case and they became friends
Anders
Performing Arts Major
Super dramatic and way into theater
Has been out of the closet for years as genderqueer and pan (Prefers he/him pronouns; he’s used them all his life and he’s used to them)
Goes to GSA club and loves telling obnoxious stories
Has hinted at being in a relationship but no one knows who it is, and the club tries to find out sometimes (It’s Latham)
Grew up with Latham and they started dating when they were seventeen
Latham isn’t out of the closet yet, so he asked Anders to keep it a secret
Anders doesn’t mind at all, he’s just happy to be with the boy he loves :)
Was a part of marching band in high school, and still practices his trumpet in his free time
Regularly texts everyone a gross amount of emojis
Latham and him moved in together when they graduated and started going to college
Latham does all the cooking
The last time Anders attempted to cook anything, the pan caught on fire (the cooking pan not Anders) (XDDD) (I think I’m hilarious)
He’s not allowed to cook anymore
They each have their own beds but usually sleep in the same one when they don’t have guests (they are both huge cuddlers) (Anders is the little spoon)
Has a pet snake because he lives to be extra (It’s a ball python)
(I can’t remember what Anders’ phoenix is named so the snake is nameless for now)
Latham
Pre-Law Studies Major
Wants to become a lawyer
Absolutely talks crap about everyone he knows with Anders
Identifies as queer but is closeted
His family are all very religious and anti-LGBTQ+ so he’s scared to come out to them
The only person who knows is Anders
His father in particular scares him
His dad really doesn’t approve of Latham being ‘friends’ with Anders, ever since Anders came out publicly
Is decent at cooking (nowhere near as good as Elliot)
Doesn’t have a lot of friends
Kind of knows Tristan and Elliot but not really
Has a Pomeranian named Xane
He’s obsessed w/ little dogs

Game Review — Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The first new game I played in 2020 was Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and like many people, this game took up a huge chunk of my playtime this year, and in fact continues to take up a chunk of it each day. With all that said, it’s only natural that this is the game these reviews start on.
So let’s get started.
Tumblr media
Overall Score: 9/10
I feel like it would be disingenuous to give a game that I’ve thus far clocked 545+ hours into anything less than a 9/10. (The actual playtime is probably longer due to a two Switches fiasco, but that’s another story for another time.) I’ve been a fan of the Animal Crossing series since the very first one released on Gamecube, and New Horizons met all my expectations and then some. While I know this game is divisive among some members of the fandom (though I don’t know too many details since I tend to stay away from the negative people), I personally feel like this is the best Animal Crossing yet, and I’m eager to see what the fall update is. With that said, let’s go into a bit more detail with some pros and cons. (Note: I recommend reading this in full on my blog, since bullet point lists now look atrocious on the dashboard.)
The Pros:
Obviously, there is so much to do. You’re essentially building the town from the ground up this time, meaning that there’s literally nothing on the island when you first arrive and you have to do everything to create a functioning society. (Even though it was supposed to be a temporary vacation . . . but that part of the plot is forgotten almost immediately.) While that may seem like a monumental task, what it really means is that a.) you have full control over your experience on the island, and b.) you have hours and hours and hours of playtime ahead of you. Particularly since a nasty pandemic in real life has made game development and release slow, New Horizons was perfect in this aspect.
The in-game tutorials don’t really feel like tutorials. Of course this means that you might have a bit of fumbling as you figure out how to use this or that new feature, but you really feel like you’re a newcomer to an island figuring things out rather than being slowly walked through a step-by-step guide on how to play the game. It made the experience feel more natural and immersive, which I really liked.
You are no longer punished if you don’t play the game for a while. This is a big one, mostly in the sense that although you do still have to deal with cockroaches and the like, never again do you have to deal with your favorite villager spontaneously packing up and leaving because you had to take some time off the game to study instead. While all this does lessen the “the game plays even when you aren’t” feeling a bit, I remember losing all will to play New Leaf when Freya up and left, on top of the Beautiful Town Ordinance making it boring since I never had to worry about weeds or anything like that again. The fact that villagers have to have permission to leave now really takes a load off your mind, especially if you took FOREVER to get your favorite (rather than using an Amiibo or villager trade to get them in).
You can place furniture outside! You can move buildings around! You can terraform! I touched on this a bit in the first bullet, but the fact that you can completely control what the island looks like through various tools is honestly the best thing Nintendo could have given us. I still remember how, in New Leaf, Paula plonked her house down RIGHT where I wanted to build a bridge, and so I had to wait for her stupid, ugly face to get out of my town before I could build it. And it took THREE MONTHS to do that. Now if something like that happened, I could just tell the villager to move their house and they’d do it, no sweat. On top of this, being able to place furniture outside makes the island look so much more natural, since it’s normal for people to decorate patios and the like, and being able to terraform means you can really have fun with the design of your island. It’s great, I love it.
We’re getting a steady stream of updates and events. Holidays are update-locked now, meaning that you can’t time travel ahead to experience holiday events and therefore ruin the game for yourself. Instead, Nintendo is surprising us with new content and updates, which I feel makes the game last longer and keeps it exciting. As I mentioned above, I’m excited to see what they have planned for fall. A Halloween event? Maybe a certain coffee shop opening in time for pumpkin spice season?! I don’t know, but I’m excited to find out.
The day-by-day nature of it also makes it a game that I feel like I can always have on the side, rather than one I complete and then never touch again. When I first got it I played it constantly, and then (due to a pandemic-induced game drought) I immediately did play by time traveling day by day, doing things, and then going back to the present to start the process over the next day. But now that there are other games out to play and I have a 5-star island, instead I play it as the first game of the day to do dailies, and then I save and put it aside. I pluck any weeds, water any flowers I’m growing, hit rocks, dig up fossils, talk to my neighbors, check which vendor we have, and then I save and end for the day. It takes me about 30 minutes to do my dailies, but it’s a nice little thing to do in the morning when I’m still in the process of waking up. One weekend morning I sat on my porch, drinking a cinnamon latte, doing my ACNH dailies. It was so peaceful and nice. ACNH is a great daily game, just a quick little thing to do before you move about the rest of your day.
The Cons:
There are definitely quality of life improvements that I feel should be in the game, but aren’t, even after players have been mentioning wanting them online every month since the game’s release. These features include, but are not limited to:
Being able to craft in your house without needing to remove materials from storage.
Being able to buy multiples of an item by putting in the number you want to buy, rather than having to buy them in groups of five.
Golden tools NOT BREAKING, especially since they NEVER USED TO. (Granted, normal tools didn’t break at all in previous games save for the ax, but the Golden Ax never broke. That was the entire point of getting it. What the hell, Nintendo.)
Being able to group like items, such as manila clams, fish, or bugs in your inventory.
Having Isabelle announce which daily vendor is on the island in her morning announcements.
Being able to buy different color variations of the same item at once at the Able Sisters’ shop.
Being able to switch between crafting and customizing without leaving the bench completely and then going back into it. (So like, you craft an item, and then you can immediately customize it if you want.)
Being able to call villagers to find out where they are on the island so you can easily find them if you have to return an item to them, or want to give them something, etc. Why have a NookPhone if you can’t actually use it as a phone?
Letting you lay down paths with terraforming more than one tile at a time. Like let you choose how many tiles you want to lay down in a row at the start, and then immediately place them.
Similarly, make it so you can’t scuff away custom paths, and also let custom paths keep the shoes-on-brick or tile sound if you have brick or tile beneath them. And so on. Little tweaks that aren’t necessary, but would make the game more enjoyable if they were implemented.
Some of the updates are coming too slow. In particular, I’m thinking about how it’s only possible to upgrade Nook’s Cranny once at present. I have put well over 500 hours into the game; by now I should reasonably have a Nookington’s (or whatever Timmy and Tommy will call it), but I don’t. I could understand if it was one shop upgrade per season, but that hasn’t been the case and I don’t know what the hold up is. It’s a bit disappointing.
That’s about all I can think of in terms of cons, at least at present. Most of my gripes are with minor quality of life implements that they could reasonably do, but aren’t doing for some reason. Otherwise, I think it’s a fantastic game that I still get daily enjoyment out of. If you like slice of life games and are looking for something new and warm to pick up, I highly recommend Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

2021 is here
with some much needed new motivation (and upcoming COVID vaccines) ☼
I just took out my Christmas tree last night. In our tradition Christmas stays up until the 14th (or in more modern traditions until the 6th) so I wanted to keep the tree up until this weekend. I changed most of my red Christmas decor out for some white seasonally appropriate winter decor after New Years but last night I took out the rest of Christmas. My ACNH is still decorated for Toy Day though because it looks so pretty!
For 2021 I wanted to get back to creative writing and started a journal. I’m not journalling daily but I just want a place to collect ideas, poems, dreams, drawings, lists and other random things. I have many of these ideas that come and go, and I think it would be cool to carry a journal with me to put these thoughts somewhere.
My other resolutions were pretty similar to the past couple of years. Continuing to work out, continuing to avoid buying new things and only buying second hand, weekly piano rehearsal, finishing at least two crafts, reading at least two books, continuing my grimoire, organising at least two photoshoots and learning to use my new camera. I am also going to reattempt plastic free July. Last year I think it was somewhere around mid-July when I remembered the whole thing so I kind of failed. Not quite because I didn’t even remember to try, but anyway. This time I wrote it down to my planner so hopefully I’ll remember it. It’s moreso meant for becoming aware of all the plastic I use and coming up with alternatives rather than being strictly plastic free but yeah. I will also try to give up some items and let go of some things in my life to try and live more sustainably and make storing things easier.
Speaking of storage I don’t want to jinx myself, but we have found a possible house. If things don’t work out with that one at least we have a whole new neighborhood to look from with plenty of similar houses in it, so that’s progress! As I think I’ve said before we are in no hurry to leave our current apartment. It’s just quite small for the two of us working and studying from home and I would love to be closer to nature. We get barely any seasons here in the center of town. Just a few planter boxes out on the street and parking lots and house walls and concrete everywhere else. I have no motivation to go for a run or a walk since it takes a while to get to a place where I would like to do those things. Anyway I’m hopeful but I won’t let myself get too excited as there is a very real possibility we won’t get the house. At least we know what we want now, and that it exists.
Christmas vacation was awesome and very relaxing. Even though I started Christmas feeling very stressed and working until the 23rd meant that it was difficult for me to get into the holiday spirit I still had a relaxing holiday. Christmas eve and Christmas day were spent with mum and dad. On boxing day me and dad drove to my cousins’ to spend the day sitting around a firepit in their yard to avoid COVID. On the 27th me and my friends from ballet went sledding and had takeout hot chocolate, once again to avoid COVID. New years was an adventure as our two friends both had some health concerns right before, but in the end we decided it was worth the risk and to meet up anyway. We had pizza, talked and played games together. No fireworks or speeches this year but at least I got to celebrate in ACNH. I also visited my friend’s island in a different timezone so that I got to change the year twice. I was on vacation until the 7th and had two days of work until the weekend. I did some pretty major decluttering and went skiing with my friend to figure out which skiis she would like to buy for herself. We started playing our annual Witcher 3 run (late but better late than never) and Yakuza 0.
My boyfriend is still asleep and I thought I might go make some lemon and white chocolate cookies. It’s the season to get to making my poppy seed muffins, potato dishes and berry preserves. I am excited for the upcoming spring again. I can’t wait to see everything start to grow. ☼ The days are already a lot longer! I truly feel like living each season to the fullest makes me the happiest. I’m glad we’ve had a beautiful snowy start to the year.
Next week is my first full week of work. Wish me luck... I’m so glad I don’t need to go anywhere though and I get to work from home.

No one has noticed the onion. Which is crazy, Alexis Dinga says, because TikTok people notice everything. Home intruders. Fashion faux pas.
“No one’s commented on it, and people in the comments point things out quickly,” says the 21-year-old Auburn senior. “I’m like, there’s literally an onion right there. There are, like, 70,000 comments and not a single person has said ‘what’s in that bag under your legs.’ It’s a yellow onion!”
And the yellow onion started the whole thing! Mom was making hashweh, a Lebanese dish Alexis has no idea how to spell. It was mid afternoon. No one wanted to run to Publix. Things happened.
“I randomly get a text from her saying, ‘hey, do you have an onion,” 20-year-old Auburn junior Collins Kitchens says. “Luckily, we had one yellow onion in the fridge. But I was like ‘is this for a TikTok, or is this for dinner?'”
At this point, who can say?
Auburn senior Alexis Dinga serves as Director of Academic Projects for Auburn’s SGA.
Collins and Alexis have both been back home in Vestavia since spring break. They grew up as Auburn fans — Collins’ parents both cheered at Auburn in the early ’90s — across the street from each other. They went to school together. They did Birmingham Dance Theater together. And now, thanks to having all the shelter-at-home time in the world — and an onion last Thursday —  they’ve finally TikTok’ed together. It was just a matter of time.
“I’ve been begging her forever to do one,” Collins says. “So we were just like, let’s do one now since we’re both outside.”
Also outside, as follower-count fate would have it? Annette Desmond, apparently the coolest U.S. postal worker in the country, just around the corner from the cul de sac, just out of sight, with some junk mail with Collins’ neighbors’ name on it.
Auburn junior Collins Kitchens and her dad. Kitchens’ parents were both Auburn cheerleaders in the early 1990s.
“Where we were was directly between our houses,” Alexis says. “For TikTok, you need a good angle, so instead of just laying the phone on the ground, we put it on the mailbox right in front of us. It had some bricks above it that it could sit on.”
They went with Alexis’ phone, because whatever routine they might be able to nail before mom started cooking would have a way better chance at hearts and shares on Alexis’ account. Collins has a decent TikTok following herself, but for some reason, that video Alexis posted last Halloween of a friend dressing up as one of their Auburn professors got, like, 3 million views, which had been good enough for 15,000 followers up to last week.
She hit the button for the front-facing camera and lined up across the street next to Collins and the onion.
“It had actually been recording for a while,” she says. “We’d just been sitting there practicing, then we saw our mail woman down the road.”
Do you yell “cut!”? Do you roll with it? They know she’s going to see them standing there. She’s going to see the phone. She’s going to see that the camera is on, that it’s recording. But if they run in front of the truck and grab it off their neighbors’ mailbox, it’ll be weird, it’ll be awkward. So they play it cool. They hope for the best. Alexis looks down at the ground and brushes her hair out of her face. Collins does that little arm wave.
“I’m a dancer,” Collins says, laughing, “But that little arm wave I did right at the start — that wasn’t my best arm wave. I wouldn’t have done the wave like that if I’d known it was going to go viral.”
“Yeah,” Alexis says, “I mean, we didn’t think she would really even acknowledge it.”
She acknowledged it.
Annette joyfully rolled into frame and waved her surgical glove covered hand at the camera and stuffed the Papa Johns coupons and whatever else into the box with a smile that makes you think that she probably kind of knew what was going on with the cute kids across the street.
“It was the funniest thing ever,” Alexis says, “but the cutest part was when she drove back around. She said ‘are y’all doing a TikTok?’ She doesn’t have a TikTok, but she said her niece has it. She was like ‘do y’all need me to video?'”
Nope, not after that. Annette drove off. They grabbed the phone, hit stop, then hit play. It was perfect. “I’m definitely posting that,” Alexis said. Collins laughed and said goodbye to Alexis and the onion, and apparently even her phone for the rest of the afternoon.
“I’m really bad at checking my phone, so I didn’t even pick it up for two hours,” Collins said. “But I got a Facetime call from Alexis and she was like, ‘have you looked at TikTok?’ I was like, ‘no, what’s happened?”‘
What had happened was 15 million views by the time the Dingas had finished dinner. Even for a 10-second clip on an automatically looping video app, that, to quote Alexis and Collins, is “insane.”
The insanity continues. As of late Tuesday night, thanks in part to stories on Yahoo and Buzzfeed and tons of other outlets, the views are now pushing 30 million. The likes are at more than 8 million. Alexis’ new TikTok bio yeah I owe it all to my mail lady sits beneath a follower count that has skyrocketed to 219,000. Hit refresh in a few minutes and it’ll be 220,000. And chances are pretty good that Annette’s niece is in there somewhere.
“The next day, I actually ran into (Annette) on a run,” Alexis said. “I was, like, ‘do you understand how viral you’ve become?’ She was, like, ‘well, my niece told me I had, like, 150 comments.’ I said ‘oh, honey, you have 60,000 comments.’ I just read her all the nice things everybody said about her and she just lit up.”
An example: We must protect her at all costs…
… which, funnily enough during the great PPE craze of 2020, is actually what’s happening.
“When I ran into her, I was like, can we please buy you a gift or something?” Alexis says. “She was like ‘oh, no, do not get me anything. The only thing I could possibly need is more gloves.'”
Once again, Collins to the rescue!
“Collins had an unopened box of gloves in her house so we put a sticky note on it and wrote ‘thank you for being in our TikTok.’ The look on her face was absolutely priceless.”

we told her we wanted to buy her a gift, and all she wanted was some more gloves <3

So was the look on her face in the sequel they shot right after that, which features the same mailbox and the same folks… Alexis, Collins, and, yes, Annette herself, dancing to some hip new TikTok track that starts by sampling — and Annette nails it — the source of the “Something Came in the Mail Today” meme.
Give the people what they want, Collins says.
“We were like, people have been asking ‘where’s the mail lady!’ They’d love it if you did a full dance routine with us!'”

Love it they do. Thanks to Alexis’ newfound influencer-level stats — she was fielding sponsorship offers all weekend — the latest from Vestavia’s trending TikTok trio already has more than 6 million views, nearly 2 million likes. And it just keeps coming.
“My mom didn’t realize how big of a deal it was,” Alexis says. “She was like ‘why is my daughter being tagged by InStyle Magazine?’”
Because you needed an onion, mom…

Anime Fans Are Doing Wonderful Things With Animal Crossing: New Horizons
One of the best parts of the weekend has been watching people on Twitter share their awesome (and often wonderfully ridiculous) islands from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Now, I'm not playing the game myself (As much as I love the look and atmosphere of the games, I just can't get very involved with them. My preferred style of gaming either includes Pikachu or me pressing X a bunch while Batman beats up, like, 90 dudes), the second hand glee that y'all's posts are giving me is great.
I've especially loved seeing people share their anime-themed designs, and I'm gonna point out a few great ones here:
First off, here's a room dedicated entirely to Sanj...I mean Sango....I mean Soba Mask. If you've watched the latest One Piece episode, you've seen the amount of fanboying over this glorious hero that goes on, so I imagine this might be an accurate depiction of what Usopp's room looks like right now.

There's also no shortage of Dragon Ball designs being created. More Goku has literally never been a bad thing.

You better BELIEVE that Naruto fans have also taken the time to show off their skills. Every village needs a ninja.

They should feel right at home, since, apparently, most of the villagers do the Naruto run anyway.

Did y'all hear the new Bleach news? Yeah, the anime comes back next year. But in even bigger news, Tite Kubo recently revealed that he plays Animal Crossing.

There's even some Haikyu!! designs. You know, maybe my friends are right when they tell me this is the best game ever made.
I’m so happy with how Animal Crossing came out. I’ve been re-watching Haikyu and I was inspired to create Kageyama’s Jersey on here. @animalcrossing pic.twitter.com/zYPsrS097s
