Tumblr media
General Info:
Name: Amyn Cole
Gender: unlabeled (any pronouns)
Age: 15
Race: New Gaian
Personality: Sarcastic, guarded, standoffish, cynical, independent, self sufficient
Likes: Cocoa pods, tinkering, bickering, music
Dislikes: Trying new food, people who can't mind their own business, the dark
Occupation: Scavenger
~~~
Amyn, our narrator, is a sarcastic, rambling teenager, prone to going off on tangents while telling their own story. He's scrappy, tough, and quite rough around the edges, using equally rough cut humor to keep the few near her at arm's length, hiding the truth about their life behind their walls.
By the time of the story, Amyn has been on their own for several years, fighting to survive the squalor conditions of The Hive, each day venturing out into the scrap yards, looking for pieces to pawn. Where survival from week to week, day to day, matters most over all, Amyn created a rigid set of rules for themself, as a sort of guide to their survival.
Their harsh, cold exterior may be a cover for something else, it's kept him alive so far, and the fact that her cellmate is the first adult to go point for point against their scathing remarks and sarcastic comments, while still managing to make his way closer to their walls will not be changing anything.
Durable: Overveiw
I know what your thinking: what does any of this have to do with me? Why should I pick up a book claiming to be a guide to things I never plan on doing? Well, I say you should, because while you might not do any of these things, I did, and you know what, I've been lead to believe that my suffering through situations is often times entertaining.
I'm Amyn, and this is the story of how my life went from bad, -as in the pits- and a little strange, to pretty good, but significantly weirder, all because I decided I didn't want to stay working in the scrap yards my whole life. Granted, the minor instances of intergalactic kidnapping, counts of treason against the Bani Regime, and everything in-between, could be considered Evren's fault.
~~
Durable tells the story of Amyn Cole, a young orphan living on the capital planet of the Umox Star system. New Gaia, a planet that's home to the largest city in the system; The Hive, was certainly not a perfect place to raise a child, let alone for a child to raise themself. But, armed with a strict set of rules, sarcastic charm, and the hardened shell of someone raised in these grueling circumstances, Amyn has managed the best they could.
When an unfortunate slip up leads to Amyn sharing a prison cell with Evren Rezel, a hardened criminal with a soft spot for lost causes, everything changes.
