Rereading the last chapter of TBTF like ya do, and I'm starting to get concerned. When it began I was firmly in Camp Sonboy and couldn't wait for Techno to be turned, but now I'm not so sure. I'm not going to ask if he gets turned vampire or not, as that's a hella spoilery question, but I will ask: what kind of ending do you have planned? Does Technoblade end up happy? What about the vampires?
I will say that I don't like writing tragic endings. I enjoy reading them sometimes, but anything I write will AT LEAST be bittersweet.
I will also say that we are NO WHERE near the end of TBTF, so much that I am sometimes a little overwhelmed with how much I have left to write. And I have character development planned for SO MANY of the characters.
Also, the name of the fic is the question I want the story to answer. What does it mean to be truly free? What is freedom? True freedom? Is it only autonomy? Is it choice? Is it possible without power? Is freedom only possible if you are alone? If no one asks you for help? If no one relies on you? Do responsibility and duty inherently infringe on freedom? Is being selfless a cage? Is being selfish the only way to be free? Is selfishness even freedom? Can love be a cage? Can love be a key? Is love a chain? Are ALL gifts a burden? Can a parent's expectations be a trap, even when the parent is only trying to do what they think is best? Is expecting someone to change for the better a tyrannical expectation? Does Freedom give a person the right to ignore people in need? Can someone who couldn't give a damn about your happiness lead you to freedom? What is the relationship between freedom and happiness? Is something that feels free for one person the same definition for others?
But in order to ask the question, I feel the need to show how other characters have answered it, at this point. You aren't the first to mention how Wilbur's actions in the last chapter are sus as fuck. And maybe Wilbur's actions feel antithetical to the concept of freedom. And maybe it IS antithetical. But sometimes you need an antithesis to show the thesis.
And, as a slightly spoilery answer:
Tommy, Wilbur, and Phil are going to get their shit wrecked at some point because of the way they choose to act now. It will come back to bite them. I don't plan on letting them get off scott free. :)

Do you have any idea how many chapters the Unnamed God fic is going to go? No pressure, of course! Just wanting an idea. It’s such an intriguing concept and I’m really enjoying the ride!
No idea. I have 8 written and I know more than that. Otherwise? No clue lolololol. Not as long as tbtf.

I was (respectfully dw) wondering why the next TBTF chapter was taking so long. And then I saw how much Wilbur talks in it. And … yeah, okay, fair.

Okay, while that is true to an extent, most of the holdup was from Life being Crazy, as well as me spending a bit of time completely hyperfixating on Sweeter Than Honey. Wilbur opening his damn mouth didn’t HELP. You could see in my drafts how often I had to rewrite his scenes. But I feel like I must defend tbtf!Wilbur a bit and say it wasn't COMPLETELY his fault. Mostly life being life lololol.
That doesn't let him COMPLETELY off the hook, though.

This was on my timeline this morning. Lenn I got so excited for a moment and then when I realized what was going on I couldn’t even be mad because of how random this was. 🤣
