2023 is here at last! The mod team wishes you health and fortune in the year to come.
Housekeeping
Current Month in TOA: Verdant Rain Moon
Our first lore event of 2023 begins this month! Keras Kai Elephas will begin at noon EST on January 2nd and run until the beginning of February. Please wait until the event begins for the team announcements and more information.
We will open up inventory selection when the event begins on January 2nd. As a reminder, event inventories can be changed until January 5th. That said, we ask that you be patient with the mod team as we sort through them and the monthly claims. We guarantee that everything will be set before the event begins in full, even if it takes us a couple of days to get to your requests.
Signups for the event will reopen on January 5th and close again on January 12th, so that will be your last chance to sign up if you haven’t already!
Thank you to everyone who filled out our feedback form last month and weighed in on our ideas about the 4th muse slot. Due to the responses we received, we have decided that we will not add a 4th muse slot. TOA will remain with an allocation of 3 muses per mun.
The Discord banner contest will accept entries until January 17th! Please refer to the server announcement in the #officialannouncements channel for more information.
A new installation to the Fire Emblem series is just around the corner! Fire Emblem Engage is slated to release on January 20th, and with a whole new cast of characters, the Officers Academy will be having its largest cast expansion since its creation. While we will eventually accept characters from the land of Elyos, these characters will not be available until midnight on March 1st, 2022. TOA operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so we will be processing reservations and applications in the order that they arrive in our inbox.
Please don’t forget to leave feedback on our [feedback poll] for this month! If you have feedback during the course of the event, feel free to leave it whenever it crosses your mind, but we will have specific questions about it on February’s form.
Other
January Mun Birthdays: Beth (3rd), Key (6th), Darcy (9th), Maddie (12th), Neffi (17th)

Muses who have been in the group for a solid year will also be granted an Academy Brooch to put in their inventory. It doesn’t do anything. It just lets others know your character has been around the block. These characters are also granted a new opportunity to change houses if they wish to do so.

White Night
This is my piece in the @frozines “Summer Lovin” zine...  Rated T, 1258 words.
It was a warm summer evening, barely cooling down. The sun finally set over the harbor, the last glimmers of red sparkling over the bit of ocean visible from the castle. Even though most of the fjord had been in shadows for hours, the sky was still glowing with a purplish white that would last until dawn.
As she looked around, Anna could hardly believe this was real.  She wasn’t used to so many people being in the castle to begin with, but this many people here this late at night, when normally Gerda might be bustling her off to bed, this was hard to believe.
Hans had reappeared, and almost literally whisked her off her feet for a dance, before they snuck off and found quiet places to talk.  After a few of the more acceptable places--the garden, the balcony right outside the ballroom--she began to show him more of the castle, all the secret spots she had learned over the years.  Was this improper?  The guards gave some suspicious glances, but what did she care about that? This was her night.  Their night.
Then, she took him over to the look-out tower.
“It’s not really dark yet,” Hans commented as they looked out over the water, the steep, dark walls of the fjord only visible in silhouette.
“Oh, no, of course it never really gets dark in the summer,” Anna stated as a matter of fact.  She’d never really been anywhere else, so it hadn’t occurred to her that this would seem at all unusual to anyone.
“I suppose you get used to that, don’t you?” he asked, looking at her with a bit of a smile. “Just like the mountains everywhere.  We don’t really have any mountains, except in some of our colonies.  Some of my brothers have been there, but I haven’t.”
Anna tried to imagine not having mountains around. Even when she couldn’t go out freely all those years, this was what she knew. The mountains might have been outside the walls, but there were still the rocks in the garden, and the trees were the same trees that she saw in the distance.
After a moment, she took him out of the castle, across the bridge, and into town.  As they got to the bottom of the clock tower, she saw that the door to the stairs was open. She’d never been here before, at least, not since she could remember.  They ran up to the top.
“Look! I’ve never seen that constellation this early in the evening before!” Anna exclaimed as she grabbed Hans’s hand without thinking, stepping outside at the top.  Here in the center of town, they were at just enough of a distance from the castle that the mountain that usually blocked that constellation on summer evenings wasn’t blocking it anymore.
“Really?”  Hans replied. “Which one is that? I never spent as much time as I should on astronomy, I have to admit.”
“That one is…” How was she forgetting the name?  She had stayed up late so many nights, with nothing better to do, and the library had several books on astronomy; she had memorized all the constellations she could spot this far north.  Right now, the only name her mind could remember was Prince Hans of the Southern Isles.  Nothing else mattered, did it?
She looked over at him as he smiled at her.
“Have you seen the harbor?  Oh, of course you have, but, oh! I know!” She laughed and ran back inside and down the stairs, realizing she hadn’t told him where she was going, and hoping he would follow.
She lost track of how many places they had been in such a short time that evening, though it felt like forever. They sat on the roof top that she had often climbed onto by herself when nobody was looking, just staring at the stars some more.
“Is that a shooting star?” Hans asked, pointing up.
“Yes!” she shouted.
“Make a wish,” he told her.  His face was very close to hers now.  She could almost-
“Oh! I want to show you something else!”  She pulled at his hand and led him back down the stairs.  They ran toward the castle.
“Here,” she whispered when they got there.  “This is a side entrance.”
“I thought you said you never left here,” he said with a smirk.
“Well... “ She giggled nervously. “Not really, but I knew this door was here.”
“I see.  You like to follow the rules, then?”
“I-” She swallowed.
Hans smiled at her, stepping closer.  She put her hand up to stop him from coming too near, but somehow ended up just letting her hand rest on his chest.  What was she doing?
“So…” she hemmed, grabbing his hand again and pulling him inside the castle garden, “I bet you don’t have anything like this where you grew up!”
“A waterfall? I can’t say we do. We really don’t have much nature at our palace, not unless you count the horse stables,” he chuckled.  Then he looked at her with an odd smile, and she wasn’t quite sure what to make of it.
Hans spoke again before Anna could question what was on his mind.  “How did I not notice that this morning?”
“You can’t really see it from town,” Anna told him.  “Do you want to get a closer look?”
“Of course!” he exclaimed.
They ran along the side of the wall, finding their way to the path up the hillside, until they got to the bridge across the waterfall.  They walked along, Anna pointing out things she recognized from town, and parts of the fjord she was familiar with from a distance, since from a distance was the only view she’d had for so many years.
They stood on the rock outcrop in the middle of the waterfall.  It was beautiful, so romantic.
“Can I ask you something crazy? Will you marry me?” Hans asked, getting down on one knee grasping her hand.
“Can I say something crazier? Yes!” Anna exclaimed, feeling a fluttering in her stomach, hardly able to believe this was really happening.
They stood holding hands and staring at each other for a moment.
“So…” Anna said, not sure what she was supposed to say now that she had accepted.
Hans stood up slowly, then stroked her cheek. She looked into his eyes, sparkling in the light reflecting off the water. She realized that they should go tell everyone, but that could wait for a few minutes, couldn’t it?  They walked a little ways back along the hillside, hidden from the view of the town, stopping in a secluded spot.  His lips met hers. Were they kissing? Yes, they were kissing.   She wasn’t sure what she was expecting, but all of her girlhood fantasies crowded in her mind all at once. This was what she had been waiting for.
She eventually had enough wherewithal to put her hands around his neck, and he pulled her in closer.
***
“We need to go tell everyone,” Anna said, adjusting her hair.
“Wait, what?” Hans stopped what he was doing, showing a flash of panic, then after a pause, “Oh, right, of course. We should get your sister’s blessing.”
Anna giggled nervously at the thought.  They’d had a bit of a disagreement earlier that evening, she and her sister, but that awkwardness was in the past.  Surely Elsa would be happy for her now. She pulled Hans along the shortest way back to the castle.  She was going to get married.

Say Hello to the New BrickNerd Team
There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable LEGO people to see if they could become something more. Nine countries and at least ten languages later, we have gathered a team of incredible builders, writers, historians and artists to make connections across continents and showcase the best the global LEGO fan community has to offer. BrickNerds, assemble!
We are excited to share our love of LEGO, some intriguing stories, building talent and opinions while highlighting many amazing creations and creators within the AFOL community. We come from diverse backgrounds, generations, locations and demographics, and invite you to join us in dialogue as we explore the awesome nerdiness that is LEGO. Let’s meet the team!
Andreas Lenander
Andreas is from Sweden and builds just about everything! He is a member of Swebrick, and you can find him on Flickr, Instagram and LEGO Ideas.
“I’m an AFOL from Sweden with a patient wife and three kids. LEGO Masterpiece Gallery alumni. Been out of my dark age for about five years and love building... well, pretty much everything, haha!”
Are M. Heiseldal
Are hails from Norway and is most interested in storytelling, culture, and fascinating interviews. He is a member of both Brikkelauget and Brickish. You can find him on Flickr.
“I got back into LEGO because of the modular buildings - so the Café Corner is special to me - and then I dove into an amazing community, traveling to events all over Europe and North America. Through these travels, plus my contributions to the LEGO Adventure Books, Bricks Culture Magazine, the Skærbæk and Paredes de Coura Fan Weekends, and the LEGO House Fan Evenings, I've met some wonderful people both inside the LEGO company and elsewhere. I'll mainly be sharing stories from these experiences: The perspective of a traveling AFOL.”
Bart Larrow, Jr., D.M.D. (aka El Barto)
Bart lives in Vermont (USA) and is continuing as a contributor to BrickNerd! He loves Space, Architecture, and all things dental-related. He is a member of VirtuaLUG, and you can find him on Flickr and Bart’s Brick Designs.
“I’m a dentist in Vermont. I’ve been into LEGO since the 1970s, mostly Space, then I began collecting Star Wars Sets when they came out. I built my first Battlestar Galactica in 2010, and that’s when I found the online community. My family and I attended our first of many Brickworlds in 2013 with the VirtuaLUG Wizard of Oz collab. I started writing for BrickNerd back in 2015 when it was just a few of us, barely scraping by on a shoestring budget. I’m excited to see where this all goes under new management. But I’m STILL waiting to see a new coffee machine in the break room...”
Billy Mohr
Billy is from Pennsylvania (USA) and focuses on minifigure customization, military builds, and third-party offerings. You can find him on Instagram.
“Hello there! My name is Billy and I've been involved in the custom minifigure world since 2013. My goal is to engage customizers and purists alike as I share all that has me so excited to keep on creating. You can expect content ranging anywhere from an in-depth analysis of custom works to an informative look at popular techniques used in the community.”
Dave Schefcik
Dave lives in New York (USA) and loves LEGO Architecture, Winter Village, all things community-related, conventions, and meeting interesting people. He is a member of SeaLUG, PSLTC, I LUG NY, FabuLUG and SortLUG, helps organize BrickCon, and previously contributed to The Brothers Brick. You can find him on Flickr, Instagram and Facebook.
“I’m a lifetime lover of LEGO though I did suffer a Dark Age! As an adult, I started with the Modular Buildings then graduated to full AFOL status by building a huge custom Winter Village. I love building BIG and small, experimenting with foliage, and creating convention trophies. I collect rare sets and elements, analyze new parts, and try to learn everything I can about LEGO. I especially enjoy hearing how LEGO has impacted people’s lives, making connections within the community, and meeting fellow LEGO fans at events and conventions. I hope to see you at one in the future!”
Douglas Hughes
Doug lives in Washington (USA) and builds on all things Power Functions, Castle/Fantasy, Space, and contests. He is a member of SeaLUG, and you can find him on Flickr, Instagram and YouTube.

I love the LEGO community both here in the wonderful Pacific Northwest and also online, originally on MocPages and now on Flickr, Instagram, and Discord, so I hope to see you there! If you scroll through my work you'll find builds containing power functions, fantasy, castle... and just about anything else!”
Eduard Petrac

Francesco Spreafico
Francesco is from Italy and enjoys LEGO History and European Events. He is a member of ItLUG, and contributes to New Elementary and OldBricks.it. You can find him on Flickr and Instagram.

“I started building with LEGO bricks back when I was 14, and since then I've tried everything from medieval towers to banana-shaped spaceships! Along the way, I've learned new techniques, photography tips, and more from other LEGO builders, so I try to take whatever chances come my way to give a little back. I'm also a writer, I play classical guitar, I'm bilingual, and I do Taekwondo. I'm a Bible-believing Christian and my goal in life is to glorify God and enjoy him forever!”
Gwyneth Kozbial
Gwyneth lives in California and loves LEGO art, new elements and techniques, the fan community, and fantasy lines. She is a member of LUGOLA, and you can find her on Instagram.

Keith Reed
Keith lives in Canada and builds everything from Apocalypse, Dystopia, Pirates, Movies, Steampunk and more. He is a member of S.l.u.g, and you can find him on Flickr and Instagram.
“I've been building since I was little. LEGO has always been a big part of my life even through my "dark ages". LEGO became a huge part of life again when I joined a lug in 2012. It’s lead to many great memories and friendships since then. Looking forward to showcasing many great MOCs, builders and events.”
Lia Chan
Lia lives in Texas and loves realistic space MOCs and all things NASA. She is a member of DFW-LUG, and you can find her on Flickr, Instagram and Facebook.

Malin Kylinger
Malin lives in Sweden and enjoys all types of creative MOCs and LEGO Art. She is a member of Swebrick, and you can find her on Flickr and Instagram.
“I’m a creative MOC builder who likes to build fantasy or sci-fi inspired builds with a great love for vibrant colours especially blue and green. The LEGO hobby is more than just building, it´s therapy, expressing creativity and being a part of an amazing community.”
Markus Rollbühler
Markus lives in Denmark and builds Castle, Microscale and more! He is a member of both RogueBricks and Brick.ie. You can find him on Flickr and Instagram.
“I’m Markus and I love to build in a variety of themes, scales and styles – a jack of all trades, if you may. I constantly find myself building castle though, and I love using pieces creatively especially in microbuilds. When I'm not building, I attend events all over the globe or organise things like Iron Builder – ultimately giving back to the community that has given me so much. I'm excited to bring all of that to BrickNerd, writing about techniques, sorting or photography, latest builds or events – whatever might be of interest! :) ”
Michael J.
Michael lives in Central USA and is continuing on as a contributor to BrickNerd! He loves Space, Castle, Pirates, and everything in between. He is a member of GTWLUG, and you can find him on Flickr.

Miro Dudas
MIro lives in California and loves building characters, animals, and nature. He is a member of SanDLUG, and you can find him on Instagram.
“I’m a lifelong LEGO fan and builder from San Diego, California. I enjoy creating character models and animals out of LEGO when I’m not hiking, busy with woodworking projects, playing guitar or running the San Diego LEGO Users Group (SanDLUG).”
Noah Hennings
Noah lives in Germany and loves all things Star Wars, Cyberpunk, Medieval and Lord of the Rings. He is a member of RebelLUG, and you can find him on YouTube, Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, Block Heads, and MOC Builder.
“Hello there, I’m Noah! Using this artistic medium loved by many, I assemble models and scenes from mostly the science fiction realm, primarily Star Wars with some recent dabbles into Cyberpunk. I’m looking to share creations from around the community that not only look impressive, but come from people who give their twist as to what LEGO means for them.”
Sergio Rojas
Sergio is from Chile, and builds pop culture, nature, art, and more. He is a member of ChileLUG, and you can find him on Instagram and Flickr.
“Photography and pop culture were the fuel to restart the LEGO passion in me after a long dark ages years ago when there wasn't a LEGO community in Chile. Lucky for me more people were looking for AFOLs to share their hobby and so we founded ChileLUG. But for me not only are the builds interesting, also getting to know how people live their hobby all around the world: their LEGO rooms, the creative process, local conventions and more.”
Simon Liu
Simon lives in Canada and loves Sci-Fi, Space, Mecha, Greebles, and all things contest-related. He is a member of ToroLUG, RebelLUG, OraphanLUG and EscapeLUG. You can find him on Flickr, Instagram and YouTube.
“Hey I'm Simon, I like building Sci-Fi — mainly so that I can systematically shove the cutest creature in little mech suits. I've been in the community for a few years now, but I still feel like I'm a new kid on the block with so many aspects of community I have yet to meet and such deep established roots. But early on I realized what an amazing impact the community can have, so I've been sneaking my way and trying to see as much as I can, and hopefully you can see some of the LEGO community through my eyes via some sort of brain to text technology!”
Sue Ann Barber
Sue Ann lives in Australia, and is mostly interested in unusual LEGO themes like Scala, Clickits and Fabuland as well as building standards like Micropolis, Miniland Scale, Minifig Habitats and Brick Bending. She is a member of MUGs (Melbourne LEGO User Group) and Brickventures, and you can find her on her Brick Room Blog and The Plastic Brick House.
“I became an AFOL in the early 1990s and have been active in the local and international community ever since. I’m a big fan of the more unusual aspects of the LEGO fan community — from obscure themes to weird collectibles and everything in-between”
Ted Andes
Ted lives in Kentucky (USA) and loves contests, Trains, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Speederbikes, Collabs, and more. You can find him on Flickr.
“I’m a MOC builder based in Louisville, KY (USA), drawn to building in sci-fi and fantasy themes and finding creative ways to seamlessly use System/Technic/Constraction parts in my builds. I tend to write articles more about the human elements of the building hobby than those little plastic ones that we all adore.”
Will Fong
Will lives in Canada and loves Trains, Battle Bricks and Robots. He is a member of VLC, and you can find him on Flickr, Instagram and Battle Bricks.
“I started building in 2016. I focus on building public transit vehicles, and I am also the theme coordinator for Battle Bricks fighting robots at BrickCan and BrickCon. Most of my content revolves around what I do and how you too can build fighting robots.”
But wait, there’s more! BrickNerd is still growing and adding amazing contributors so stay tuned to see who else is joining our Nerdly ranks. If you are interested in becoming a contributor for BrickNerd, please send an email to [email protected]. Let the LEGO nerdiness commence!

osu!weekly #96
A new weekly, a slightly modified format! We have kind of already started rolling this out, but in the coming weeks we will be starting a new version of the standard osu!weekly formula. Looking out for cool new stories? Read on to get your fill!

Weekly news
The aspiration of daring mappers burn with the intensity of a thousand suns in the latest Aspire Mapping Contest! For those of you who didn’t know already, the Aspire mapping contest is a chance for mappers to relieve the burdens of the ranking criteria and let loose their creative demons. With the entrants revealed and our wonderful judges already giving us their take on them, it is nigh time for your to also tell us what you think by voting for your favorites!
We seemed to have missed you for our regularly scheduled dev meeting! It looks like we’ve had a bit of a schedule shuffle in terms of when we hold them, so our public dev meeting will likely be held this month instead. We still have plenty of cool new things to show off to you guys over the course of the month, so stay tuned for more!
The osu!weekly will be trialing a new format starting… right now! With the incorporation of a more navigable weekly, we will be looking to aggressively promote content from everywhere around a community. We will also be trialing a new tournament feature program, where just about any moderately sized tournament can get a similar, albeit smaller, block on every weekly detailing the progress of their brackets and matches. If your tournament doesn't quite meet the size requirement, don't worry! Your data can be later used towards building a wiki page for your competition, so we'll keep it around! Interested in participating? Hit us up at [email protected] with your interest as well as the tournament you’re hosting, and we’ll get back to you shortly with more details.
Around the community
This is one of the new blocks we’ll be testing out in the coming weeks, and will be something like a community sub box. The videos posted here contain the opinions of the creators and do not reflect the opinion of osu!, the osu!staff, or necessarily the osu!weekly, but we do think the videos and the people behind it are pretty darn cool. If you have videos that you think are “cool enough” to show up here, drop us a message at [email protected]!
Pishifat uploaded a new video detailing the creation and evolution of what we know as the “ranking criteria”. It’s been a rocky road for beatmap moderation, and not all of it has been well known for the great majority of us. It’s a great watch, much like much of his other related content, so take a look and see how the game is combating an ever evolving landscape for creative output!
youtube
Eres EriA, better known for his player showcase videos, posted a video showing the top 25 Taiko Players of 2016 in Korea! If you’re interested in what kind of community centric content this guy has been putting out, be sure to check out his channel!
youtube
Eternity is a new music based channel that showcases neat songs and their corresponding maps in the game. This channel proves to be a good way to discover great listens while letting you know the fact that someone has already mapped it for your circle clicking enjoyment.
Tournament Corner
An interesting new “sightreading” tournament has popped up courtesy of our friend neonat!. Unfortunately for players, it seems like player registration is limited to Singaporeans only. However, since the format for this tournament is quite special, they will be looking for mappers to help fill in their map pool over the course of the next few weeks! If you’re interested in helping out, neonat has provided us with a link to his discord so you can drop right in to say hello!
Scorewatch: March week 3 (With Scorewatch Patrol)
Ekoro, currently participating in TWC 2017, is not just capable of whacking those drums. He pulled off a mindblowing EZFL 98.50% FC on 9mm Parabellum Bullet - Inferno on The Eclipse difficulty, giving him 385pp. Ekoro has been super capable in playing FL, and this score is nothing short of breathtaking.
youtube
Neliel pulled off a big one this week! He became the second ever person to FC BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance with 98.06%, earning him 578pp. This guy doesn’t seem like he’s stopping anytime soon. Absolutely insane.
youtube
Gayzmcgee just keeps on pulling the big scores! His DT 98.97% FC on Apocalyptica - Reign of Fear is the first ever, as he gained 437pp in the process. Watch it, you won’t regret it.
youtube
_yu68 is back at it again with the crazy scores in osu!taiko as he managed to HD 99.92% FC you - Hold Angel, gaining 491pp. 300BPM of rapid mashing will take a toll on your ears, so beware!
youtube
Seems like 9mm Parabellum Bullet - Inferno made its way to become an osu!catch pp map as _Asriel setted a crazy 99.79% HDHR play to gain 921pp. You can be the judge whether this should hold as much as it is.
youtube
NOTABLE MENTIONS:
Cookiezi took a shot at the newly ranked Remo Prototype[CV: Hanamori Yumiri] - Sendan Life as he pulled off an amazing 99.85% HDHR FC, gaining 668pp.
Toy probably fell flat tired after completing an exhausting HDHR 98.87% FC on Linkin Park - Living Things worth 436pp.
stu00608 went super crazy on SENTIVE - The end of a century as he slapped HD, SD, DT and FL on to get a 99.15% FC worth 537pp.
TWC 2017 Week 1 Summary:Group Stage- with magnomizer
While Group Stage may not traditionally be the most exciting of stages, a marked increase in mappool difficulty from last year coupled with the introduction of Score V2 has definitely stirred up some interest, attracting 1000+ viewers at peak over this weekend. We were right to be invested of course, and this Group Stage certainly did not disappoint, featuring some of the closest matches we’ve ever seen in osu!Taiko history.
With over 20 matches scheduled over the weekend, players and spectators alike were expecting a series of intense and exciting matches. But after what seemed like an endless slew of 4-0 victories in favour of the higher seeded team, expectations started to lower, and the atomosphere slowly turned stale.
Suddenly, this all changed when Indonesia stood its ground and took a point from the higher seeded Chile, evening the score to 1-1. Twitch chat immediately exploded with hype for a tiebreaker, and as if on cue, our prayers were answered when the points eventually ticked over to 3-3. Both teams performed incredibly on the tiebreaker, and the struggle could be felt as the score lead tilted precariously between both sides, but in the end, it was Indonesia that managed to come out on top.
Following yet another drought of 4-0 scores, we were subsequently rewarded with the hugely anticipated matchup between South Korea and France. Despite the latter putting up a good fight (including a point where the score difference was only 254), the points quickly racked up to 3-0 in favour of South Korea. However, in a stunning turn of events, France somehow found its footing, and battled its way up the steep incline, surprising everyone when they forced yet another tiebreaker. Unfortunately for them, the South Korean team held their ground, and France conceded the match point with a score difference of only 3148.
Other highlights include Malaysia, who managed to beat out Argentina in Group Stage, becoming the only Low Seed that makes it out to Ro16. Team Japan also reminded everyone of its dominating presence by landing a triple SS in their match against Poland, achieving a maximum of 3 million score - a flawless victory. Thankfully, Poland has also qualified for the Ro16 - perhaps there will be an opportunity to take their revenge? To conclude, many congratulations to the 16 teams that have fought hard to remain in this tournament, with special mentions to Malaysia and Indonesia for exceeding expectations. While no teams are at risk of going home yet, their performance next week will be of utmost importance, as it will significantly influence the way they progress through the tournament.
The first match is scheduled to take place on Sunday 19 March, 09:00 UTC. Be sure to drop by the osu!live twitch channel this weekend to show your support for the teams competing!
How’s that for a change of pace? Once again, there’s a bunch of new weekly based initiatives taking flight, so send us an e-mail at [email protected] to get yourself known out there! If you prefer to catch me when I’m around online, I’m idling for the greater part of my waking day in the osu!dev discord. We’ll be right back at it next week folks, so don’t go anywhere!

2021 Fanfic Year in Review
Thanks @maskedbeliever for the tag!
Total Completed Works: 13 Total (According to ao3, but it excludes anything I updated in 2022...)
Word Count: 48427
Fandoms I’ve Written in: Frozen, Tangled, Northanger Abbey, Downton Abbey (not counted in statistics, since I already updated the drabbles in 2022)
Looking Back, Did You Write More Fic Than You Thought You Would This Year, Less, Or About What You’d Expected?: I wrote more individual works than I expected, but published significantly less of my WIP (Prince of Two Realms) than I planned to.
What’s Your Own Favorite Story Of The Year?: Tough question. I definitely had the most fun with the fics I wrote for contests in the spring and summer.
Do You Have Any Fanfic Goals For The New Year?: Edit and post the huge backload of chapters I’ve written for Prince of Two Realms, and experiment a bit more with the short works.
Most Popular Story Of The Year?: My canon divergence drabbles: What If? (though that includes hits I got in 2020, as well, from what I can tell...)
Story Of Mine Most Under-Appreciated By The Universe, In My Opinion: I wouldn’t use the dramatic language, but I’d probably say Fools Rush In, which doesn’t get very much attention, either positive or negative.
Most Fun Story To Write: Definitely Twenty Questions, since it involved reading up on 19th century parlor games and actually had a purpose for writing Olaf in rather than feeling obligated by canon...
Most Unintentionally Telling Story:  Hm. There may or may not be OCs occasionally just acting the way I would act.  That’s all I’m gonna say.  And some of them act and say things completely different from what I would say. So I’ll leave this a mystery.
Biggest Disappointment: Probably the fact that I couldn’t keep up with just editing and posting chapters from Prince of Two Realms even though I started out 2021 with over 50k of drafts.  (as opposed to The Young Diplomat, where I started out with basically 3 or 4 non-continuous chapters when I posted the first chapter, one chapter of which I never even used...)
Biggest Surprise: Writing one-shots. I really wasn’t planning to, but the Corner of Creation discord contests got me writing short pieces that weren’t drabbles. (also, started being an admin there, that was a surprise.)
