ooo's structural universe and time travel

so w/the yolo/'begin' teasers dropping, the time travel theories have been cropping up again which is very 👀👀

so a v v brief summary of the pre-underground idol stuff, ooo clearly have had time travel-related themes in their previous work with 'time leap' and 'time machine.' there have also been theories that their previous mvs follow a story of time travel and they take place at various points they've travelled through in the timeline w vehicles acting as the vessels for time travel (e.g. kb's motorcycle in savanna, the car in time leap, car in sage, etc)

and in the 'begin' teasers, there's the phone booth, which is pretty central; and phone booths have def shown up in previous media as time travel vehicles/vessels a la doctor who and bill & ted's

in the second teaser, the diner is very 1950s style, with the soda in the fridge even being 40-50s cola cans (the diner is also very wong kar-wai chungking express, and we know ooo loves wong kar-wai references, esp w unknown art pop 2.1/unknown art pics 1.0, but that's a non-sequitur)

so it seems very likely that 'begin' is also a continuation of this time travel theme

also we all already know abt their structural universe and how ooo's main "timeline" so far is meant to follow the progression of a dot to a line then to a surface

i personally think that it's possible that previous mvs (namely savanna, sage, libido, but probs others too) are different points in a certain timeline and that 'begin' is a different timeline (bc if we are to follow the kb yoojung story, libido seems like the beginning of a relationship for the characters, but also so does begin maybe, so maybe begin is the beginning in a different timeline/alternate universe)

so what if previous mvs are different time points within one timeline, and then maybe the solos are exploring different timelines (e.g. different timelines, or as fiona @iridescentspacewhale has mentioned, maybe pocket universes, dedicated to each character's storyline) and they all converge/collapse in on each other with if surface m (since u know there's a lot of time travel media abt what happens when different time streams interfere w each other). this would also make underground idol the perfect way to tie up and end the instinct arcs while leading into ism

because if we're following the progression from dot to line to surface, it maybe makes a lot of sense to have mvs exploring different time points (read: dots) within a timeline, ones exploring different timelines, and then they all culminate and come together, in some way, to form a surface
