lmao wearing parasols during summer isnt white worshipping it literally rescues you from the sun. drop ur pride and wear UV-resistant umbrellas non-asians....its less stickier than sunscreen and also keeps u from having a stroke outdoors. u think it’s to prevent getting tan? it’s to bring the temp down -10 degrees. thats a life saver....im done with white people or asian haters talking about everything plastic surgery everything white-skin in relation to east asia cuz come on moree people are wearing umbrellas here year after year because of global warming and rising heat
without an umbrella: 80 percent humidity rate, 35 degrees
with umbrella: 25~28 degrees
Tumblr media
bruh women over 50+ or mostly 60+...since when is this is a fashion trend it’s mostly an old nona thing. now the youngsters are catching up cuz its comfy we give less a shit about our appearances( haha silly umbrella on a sunny day) since covid masks etc

Sintra, Portugal
September 5, 2023
We left Lisboa for a little while today to explore Sintra, Portugal in the Sintra Mountains.
Tumblr media
Less than a hour away is this quaint village the at one time housed numerous castles and palaces of kings and other "upper crust" - so to speak. Our destination was Sintra National Palace, a 15th-century medieval palace where the Portuguese royal family spent their summers until the 1800s. It was good to be king!!
The weather was fall-like with temps topping out at 70 degrees today and 5% change of rain. (LIARS!!!). We left the city and it was sunny and bright but with every mile we saw less sun and more fog. Fortunately we saw these aqueducts before the fog swallowed us up.
Tumblr media
This is NOT Roman designed or built - but most certainly Roman "inspired." Here is the buzz from the web about this structure.
"Built between 1731 and 1799, by royal order, the Águas Livres Aqueduct constituted a vast system for capturing and transporting water, using gravity. Classified as a National Monument since 1910, it is considered a notable work of hydraulic engineering.
The completion of this work involved using the Águas Livres water springs integrated into the Sintra mountain watershed, in the Belas area, northwest of Lisbon.
The chosen route coincided, in general terms, with the route of the ancient Roman aqueduct. Its construction was only possible thanks to a tax called Real de Água, levied on essential goods such as olive oil, wine and meat.
The system, which withstood the 1755 earthquake, is made up of:
A main section, 14 km long, starting at Mãe de Água Velha, in Belas, and ending at the Mãe de Água das Amoreiras reservoir, in Lisbon
Several secondary sections designed to transport water from around 60 springs
Five galleries to supply around 30 fountains in the capital
In total, the Águas Livres Aqueduct system, inside and outside Lisbon, reached around 58 km in length in the mid-19th century, with its waters no longer being used for human consumption from the 1968s onwards.
The extraordinary arcade of the Alcântara valley, with a length of 941 m, is made up of 35 arches, including, among these, the largest stone arch in the world, measuring 65.29 m high and 28.86 m wide ."
It was fun to see. Potable water was a big problem for Lisboa with springs located in the Alfama area - and that is it. The Tagus River - the longest river in the Iberian peninsula - is brackish in the city - so great for floating a ships - but not so good for drinking. I'm afraid I went down the rabbit hole on this and I REALLY wish we had visited the Water Museum and the Reservoir. The entire system is fascinating and made me think of the Cistern in Istanbul. Below is a pic I took off the net of the Mãe D´Água Reservoir. But I going to let it go....
Tumblr media
Back to what we did instead of what we didn't....
We toured the palace for about an hour and saw the medieval, gothic, and Moorish architectural influences as we meandered through the palace’s decorative staterooms. I took lots of pics - but I took could give you the size of the place - so I tapped the Internet (again). The big conical structures are chimneys in the kitchen. Once we toured the kitchen, I understood why they were so big!
Tumblr media
The first building was constructed in the 10th or 11th century when Sintra was under Moorish rule. At the end of the Middle Ages, the Palace of Sintra was at the heart of a large territory under the care of the Queens of Portugal while also one of the preferred destinations for Portuguese monarchs. The rooms were unique and the walls and ceilings were fabulous.
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Swan Room.
Tumblr media
If you were lucky enough to get an audience with the king - you would wait in this room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This outer room - that looks VERY Moorish - is the room outside the throne room. Then come in for your audience - into the "Magpie Room" - where rumors go to die.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every time the royal moved from one palace to another every stick of furniture went with them. OMG!!
Tumblr media
These cabinets are amazing work of art. They close and lock and have handles - so that someone else can pick up that sucker and carry it to the next giant palace.
Tumblr media
This room is for "exhibitions". For example, the queen has given birth to the new prince - come on in and take a look at the beautiful people. OR The King is Dead - check it out.
The different tiles on the walls are amazing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I loved this garden - and it gives you a look at our weather. We "heard" you could see the ocean - and another palace in the near distance. Sure you could....
Tumblr media
Below is the throne room - filled with the heraldry of the most powerful families.
Tumblr media
In the middle is the crest of Portugal and the king. It was surrounded by the crest of his 8 children - 6 boys and 2 girls. Can you find the girl's crests? Look for 1/2 a crest!!!! Don't get me going.....
Sometimes, a loyal subject with great power does something bad or someone tells the king they did something bad - and just like that...
Tumblr media
See the blank section above? This very influential family MAY or MAY NOT have been plotting to overthrow the king - but we will never know - because the King listened to Marquis de Pombal who said they were - and suggested that the entire family - EVERY SINGLE MEMBER - be killed to prevent such an event. They - grandparents, children, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. were killed and their crest disappeared FOREVER!!f
We continued to the chapel and discovered it was under renovation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
WOW!!!
The kitchen was near the end of the tour - and very interesting indeed:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This mammoth kitchen had everything! From a huge doors that opened to bring in the kill, to places where the meat was hung, bled and butchered. The fires to cook whatever needed to be cook were built under the mechanism. So - if the goal was to cook several pigs or deer or, or or - on the spit by Carolina, a fire was built on the floor. And THAT explains why those giant chimneys were a must.
Finally, how about a loverly chandlier for over the dining room table. This one came from a small glass manufacturer called Murano, in Venice.
Tumblr media
We had a few minutes to shop after the tour and then a great lunch - while the rains poured on.
I thought the trip was very worthwhile and I think all our our friends felt the same way. Our timing was good too. The 5% chance of rain "poured" beginning moments after we went into the palace. It was raining when we finished our tour as well but we were not deterred.
We headed back to Lisboa and Carolina suggested we might use the time to "meditate" (wink-wink) and we all did exactly that. DEEP MEDIATION!
We stopped by the Tower Belém - a place Mark and I have been to two times this trip but it was still fun to see again with our buddies. From here we went to see The Discoveries Monument. We have NOT seen this up close and personal so that was indeed fun. We especially loved the marble map that had been a gift from South Africa. There were just too many people to get a descent pic - so I'm going to the Internet. There are people in this pic too - but they will give you the prespective to understand just how big this thing is.
Tumblr media
It lists the date and location of each of the numerous colonies that were part of Portugal's Empire. Here is a pic I took of just s small section.
Tumblr media
I remain conflicted about the "discovery" notion. None of these places were unpeopled. The lands had long ago been "discovered" - but now they were conquered. It is what it is - and NO ONE is denying that these conquests make Portugal rich beyond their wildest dreams. They spread their language, their culture and their religion around the world - but there was a horrific cost to the conquered, my friends. So, I remain conflicted.
Lastly, we had our home hosted dinner. Our host was an AMAZING artist, a woman who was indeed a free spirit. We had such a spirited conversation that I'm ashamed to say we took no photos. But we will have to keep this night in our hearts. Mark, Daphne, Joe, Annie, Carl and I had a delightful evening - so much so that we were late for our return back to the hotel. Oh well.
Tomorrow we leave Lisboa and head to Evora. The name of the trip is "The Back Roads of the iberian Peninsula: Paradores and Pousadas. So far, we have seen NO back roads. But according to our trip leader the "back roads" start tomorrow. Can't wait!
Stay tuned.

A Fort Lauderdale woman celebrated her 103rd birthday early with family and friends. Theodora Walters, a Fort Lauderdale resident, was surrounded by loved ones at a home near Southwest 38th Terrace. Helsinki Airport was flooded with Käärijä fans on Sunday evening, as Finland's Eurovision contestant arrived home to a hero's welcome after finishing in second place in the song competition's final, newspaper Aamulehti (siirryt toiseen palveluun)reports.
Despite getting narrowly beaten overall by Sweden's entry, Loreen's Tattoo, Käärijä's Cha Cha Cha won the hearts of the public, the Tampere-based paper writes. The Finnish entry received 376 points from the audience vote, 133 more than Sweden.
"Winner, winner, winner," the crowd chanted at the airport as the rapper appeared in the arrivals hall, Aamulehti writes.
Among the neon-green-studded crowd — which consisted primarily of teenagers — was 94-year-old Heljä Hakosalo from Vantaa, who had joined his daughter in welcoming the Finnish rapper home.
As he moved through the crowds, Käärijä approached Hakosalo and gave him a hug.
"I didn't expect that. And I didn't expect that everyone would be so terribly friendly," the 94-year-old said of the experience.
Purchasing power hit 60-year low last year
Consumers' purchasing power in Finland dropped to its lowest level since the 1950s last year, according to the largest-circulating daily, Helsingin Sanomat (siirryt toiseen palveluun) (HS).
HS writes that as Finland had just begun to recover from the economic effects of the Covid pandemic, Russia's invasion of Ukraine sent the global economy into turmoil once again. The result was a spike in energy and food prices as well as rapidly rising inflation and interest rates.
Citing number-crunching agency Statistics Finland, HS reports that real income fell by 4.4 percent in 2022, the sharpest drop recorded in more than 60 years. The last time a plunge as big was recorded was in 1957 when earnings fell by 5.7 percent.
High employment levels however provided the silver lining to a difficult economic period, noted University of Helsinki professor Niku Määttänen, who said that the shock effect of last year's geopolitical events should be temporary.
"It was a one-off drop in purchasing power. From now on, one would expect a more positive development," Määttänen told the paper.
Goodbye summer (for now)
"Enjoy the warmth while you still can," tabloid Iltalehti (siirryt toiseen palveluun)writes on Monday morning.
The sunny and warm weather of the past few days is about to turn wetter and cooler, according to the paper, as a low-pressure front moves across Finland.
While Monday could see the mercury reach up to 24 degrees Celsius, Tuesday is set to see a dramatic drop, between 13 and 17 degrees, and will decrease further over the following days.
The weather u-turn will also bring rain showers, which could even fall as sleet in northern areas of the country.
Meteorologists however expect this change to be temporary, as the outlook suggests drier and warmer weather will appear again by Thursday, IL reports.

Sam’s Story Corner
September 27th 2022
🔮✏️🚨🔮✏️🚨🔮✏️🚨🔮✏️🚨🔮✏️🚨🔮✏️🚨🔮✏️🚨
This week’s Writing Topic comes from a question that was asked at this weekend’s Convention.
“What does your Character’s Perfect Day Off look like?”
Have to stress ‘Day Off’ because there are a few who think working is relaxing. (Huh Charlie?… and yeah, okay, me too) So, enjoy the planning of it and can’t wait to see how you’ll spend it.
…………………………
Patience
Ahh morning I stretch and yawn I get out of bed and go to the kitchen for a cup of hot tea I start to wonder what the perfect day would be hmm I can make this happen I finish making my tea and go back to my room and start going through clothes that I want to wear for the day picking out a decent top to go with a pair of jeans ahh such a lovely shade of blue, what am I going to do today I finish dressing and go outside for a walk taking my cup of hot tea with me ahh so good walking over to a tree I have a seat and finish my tea. I know what I'll do I'm going for a drive  I get up from under the tree and make my way back to the bunker thinking this would be the perfect day to drive out to the countryside and just do nothing yes no monster's yet (shit I better not say that too loud) no visions. YES ITS GOING TO BE A GREAT DAY OFF.  Walking into the bunker and grab my purse out of my room grab my keys and head out. heading to the garage my head starts to pound well hell I had to say it didn't I.  I see the perfect day a little walk nice 60 degrees outside sunny fall day. I also see a drive and a stop at dairy queen for one last DQ ice cream cone before they close for winter while having my cone I used the time to catch up on a few phone calls and after that I see the evening coming pretty quickly I drive to the country and find an open field and stop at the edge of it and park I get out as the stars are so beautiful this time of year vision is over I come to sense's. Wow now that's a perfect day only I better pack myself a picnic for today cause this vision I can control.

Henry
Part 1
When I’m not hunting, baking, stuffing my face and bothering everyone with my cuteness. I’m sleeping in till who knows when then checking my messages. Before getting dressed and eating then going for a drive. Till I reach the river where I usually go when I need to be alone or want to practice my telekinesis in peace and quiet. This time I brought along Newt and my shark puppy that dad gave me.
Part 2
I pull out my lunch deciding to eat here and enjoy nature while they run wild.
“I’m glad I can finally have a day off and actually enjoy myself. I should go to that bakery store. I saw some cute Halloween decorations for cakes.” I talk aloud to myself. Sometimes it can help you come up with new ideas or fucus better. I catch up on emails while eating and taking pictures of them being silly. After a while I figured I should get the bakery store soon before it closes. I get them loaded up before driving into town . Sometimes I hit the bookstore or run into school friends. Every once awhile I hang with Crowley.

perfect day off
just finished up with a hunt per usual i again look at Sammy as we drink a beer to celebrate hey Sammy what do you say we take that trip to the beach I've made mention of several times after our hunts? I insist it will be a great day off. You gotta admit for once we both could use it.
Sammy asks, "Really?" I can see by the look on his face that this time he's serious. "Yeah sure, let's go." I respond,  "Awesome." I reply "You're really up for it this time? We better stop somewhere for beer and trunks. Unless we going swimming and hanging on the beach nude?"
Sammy chuckles "You would.. but no, trunks ate not optional for me." then I laugh "ok ok no nudy beaches I promise. Lets head out stock up the cooler then head to the beach. We deserve one day away just to have fun. Call it a mini vacation." I put the cooler back in the car and get in starting the impala. Sammy climbs into the front seat of the car. "Vacation?" Gives me a you're serious look. "Who are you and what have you done with my brother?" "I know I know", I tell him  "it doesn't usually happen, but why not now? We could use a short break man."
driving to the store as we go inside and get swimming trunks, beer and everything else we may need then head back out to the car and i drive us to the beach. I get out at the beach and look around.   "Should we go fishing, swimming, or surfing first?"  Sam looks up and down the beach thinking for a minute "Looks like the waves are pretty good. People over there seem to be surfing" as he points down from us near a pier "Why don't we try that?"
I said "Awesome lets go!" start heading to the surf shop and i rent a couple boards for us and hand Sam one while I take the other and hit the waves. Holding the board, Sam decides to run up and swap it for a body board. "Pretty sure I'd kill myself on a long board. I then catch a wave and surf it back as I look over watching Sammy "hey Sammy stay there! I'll catch up we can catch the same wave and race!"
Laying across the board, Sam paddles in place until I reach him, while i swim out with him as we sit up and wait for the perfect wave. Watching a new one come in "how about this one Sammy?!? Race then we can go fishing!" Sammy answers,  "Sure!" he watches the wave and as he begins to paddle to catch it, he's more worried about keeping to his board than he is in winning any kind of race. "I'm coming for ya!" I paddle to catch the wave and jump up on the board and ride the wave in, looking over smiling, as I watch Sammy when I get to the beach should we go fishing now? Losing the board just as he hits the shallows, causing him to take a flashback of the wave right in the face. Getting to his feet coughing and sputtering, he looked over at me and just nodded his head. "Sounds like a good idea."
we head back to the shop to return the body board and surfboards and grab some fish rods hooks, and worms and hand a pole to Sam
Sam says, "The guy at the Dive shop said the best fishing is over on the other side of the pier near the big rock out cropping." and starts the hike down the beach next to me just enjoying the feel of the sun on our skin. "Okay, gotta hand it to you, this is alright"
as I'm walking with down a bit if a rocky path through some trees "see, I told you man. It’s not a bad thing to do once in a while just to recoup and get away. You ready to catch some fish?" he responds, "I could go for some fish, we can grill 'em at home tonight." Choosing his spot, Sam reaches into the container and pulls out one of the wiggling worms and quickly stick it on the hook. Deciding to aim for a shadowy spot on the other side of the rock, I watch him as he casts out his line and slowly reel it back.
“You cooking without burning?" I asked as I gets my pole ready and put a worm on the hook and cast the line in the opposite direction and find a rock to sit on propping the pole up while I grab a couple beers out of the cooler. And hand Sam one "here bro.. Cheers!"
Sam "Thanks. And you're cooking, not me." he twists the top and take a drink "You ever been to this beach before?"
No but it’s pretty nice here isn’t it? smiles as I look over watching you suddenly a fish tugs on my line so I grab my pole pulling back on the line and start reeling it in and I catch a 4lb catfish "she's a beaut!" laughs She? shakes his head "Either way the fish is a nice one. Just then Sam gets a tug on his line, jerking it back I can feel it go slack. "Shit, I think I just lost one." I watch Sam reel the line in and no fish and the worm is gone.
"Its just a figure of speech ish. I dont know." I say as I'm watching him lose his fish "dang get er back out there to catch another one"
Changing to a lure, Sam casts it out as far as he can and slowly reels it back in.
"We better start catching more fish... One isn’t gonna feed everyone..." laughs as my line jerks again so I pull on it and reel, pulling in another good size catfish as I struggle but finally catch it then I rebait and throw again immediately catching another reeling it in as I watch Sam catch one too "that makes 4 fish should we try for a few more or do you think these will be enough if we split them?"
As I bring in yet another fish Sam feels his lure catch and know it's his turn. Alternating reeling and then pulling on the fishing pole he finally brings the fish in. "There it is!" Grabbing the wiggling fish, he frees the hook from its mouth and drops it into the mesh basket with the rest and then recast his line.
I catch another but the line breaks right before i get it out of the water "DAMNIT! How many we got bro?" Sam replies, "I've only got one... I think we'll need to stop and buy a few more on the way home." start laughing "So 5 fish now buy fish to have enough? Sounds like a plan to me should we head out then since my line broke?"
"Yeah, let me get this lure back in." As he reels it in there's another snag and he pulls back hard. "Make that 6 fish Dean." he brings in the final fish of the day and packs up his equipment and picking up the mesh basket. "Ready?"
grabbing my gear as you pull up the final fish "nice catch bro!" heading back to the car i open the trunk for the fish "yep lets go!"
On our way back we stop at the store to buy more fish and drinks then back at the bunker we set up cleaning the fresh fish and enjoy a nice fun fish fry with the family
That is what the perfect day off would look like to me!

Crowley
I step out of the dungeons, listening to the dying scream of the final prisoner that needed to be dealt with today. Heading towards my office, I bring up my calendar on my phone and find that for the first time in years it was clear. Reaching my office, I find no paperwork and thank whatever higher power that actually cared about demons that I could finally relax.
Sinking into my leather office chair, I try and think of what I could do. What I would actually enjoy. I decide to treat myself to a nice dinner first, and then figure out the rest of the day. Snapping my fingers, my suit jacket, tie and dress shirt vanish, Instead they’re replaced by a light gray button down with an embroidered back. It feels nice to just let go, not worrying about anyone. With a glance at my wall mirror, I bite my inner cheek before reminding myself this is a vacation and cut loose. Just to be cheeky I add some eyeliner to my look before vanishing.
Appearing at Bruno’s Little Italy I step inside and chuckle finding another demon already there. Walking towards the table, I take a seat. “What’re the odds I’d find you here, of all possible places?” Guy Fieri stares back at me and just grins. “The same odds that I’d find my boss here.” We share a laugh and order together discussing his show and how it had really increased the number of souls collected outside of the usual crossroad deals. Him and Nicole had really cornered the reality television market, and I considered them good acquaintances.
Standing to leave, I shake Guy’s hand only to be pulled into a ‘bro hug’. It’s startling, but I find it nice and return before vanishing back to hell for a short time to collect my hounds. I also get a basket of toys, a blanket, the book I’ve been meaning to read, and the champagne Ruby gave me before we all travel to Kilt Rock. My eyes fall shut as I feel the salty breeze and spread out the tartan blanket and sit. “Go play my darlings.” I lay down on the blanket, pour myself a glass and open to the first page of Tower of Nero with a relaxed sigh as I listen to the pups play, grabbing toys from the basket as necessary. Poe snuggles up under my chin, and Tybalt flops down on my back after a few hours of roughhousing. Eventually, even though demons don’t have too, we all end up dozing off as the sun sets feeling more at peace than we have in ages.
Part Two
I stand off to the side in the Bunker, watching Dean talk to Sam and Charlie. There didn’t seem to be any new cases, and for the first time in ages I didn’t have a backlog of paperwork. Walking over, my hand slips easily into the elder Winchesters tugging him away from the group, I melt slightly when Dean’s lips find my own and chuckle into the kiss before pulling away. “We both seem to be free, let me take you out.” Not waiting for an answer, I pull him close and vanish us both to Rome.
Making us appear outside of the doors of a nice restaurant, we get a table with minimal issue. Of course the hostess had eyed Dean’s jeans and flannel with distaste, but one dark look from me had her scurrying to appease us. That seemed to earn me another kiss from an appreciative hunter. The entire dinner seems to pass in a blur, though there’s a strong memory of Dean attempting to order a burger when it isn’t on the menu. Still, we’re laughing together as we exit the establishment.
Lacing out fingers, I guide Dean through the streets telling stories of watching the city grow and some mischief that might have had my hand in them. As I glance back at Dean, he seems to be laughing along with me and I guide us towards the beach as the sun sets, remembering he liked long walks along them. His arm wraps around me and I lean my head on his shoulder. My eyes close as we stroll in the fading light, and eventually to the light of the moon until I feel us stop. I turn to look at Dean when the arm around my waist tightens and we kiss again, more passionate than any shared before.
“ Crowley “ Hearing my name confuses me, since the source of voice speaking is busy kissing me.
“Crowley,” I hear it again, only it’s hazier and I blink.
“CROWLEY!” I’m snapped back to the bunker and find Dean, still standing there talking to Sam and Charlie, well, actually presently yelling at me. “Yes darling?” He rolls those lovely green eyes at me, and I sigh in regret at being dragged from my thoughts. “We have a case, you coming or not?” My eyes wander down to the silver ring bearing the MacLeod family crest on his finger. Maybe, just maybe there was hope it wouldn’t have to be only a dream if I didn’t screw this up. “Of course. Don’t want to risk my husband getting killed, do I?” I can feel the eyeroll as I finish my drink and follow them to the garage. Maybe there was hope or us, and maybe for a day off too.

“What does your Perfect Day Off look like?”
I think there are a lot of things that could be put onto my list of ‘Perfect Days’. Just off the top of my head… anytime we survive a hunt with everyone alive and well would certainly qualify as a Perfect Day in my book and many more things along those lines like…Spending time with my brother… Getting to share in all the aspects of this extended Family… and the best part of the Family motto “Saving People.”
It’s when you add the qualifier Perfect Day OFF that things change for me. I don’t really think of my days as working or nonworking. This is just our lives. It’s how we’ve chosen to live and it’s just how everything normally IS.
But I feel like I owe you guys an answer, since I was the person who posed the question in the first place. So, I guess I’ll tell you about a day from last week that seemed pretty perfect… before all the mess that came after.
I woke up early and went for a morning jog. The mornings are colder now, and the air was really crisp, and I could actually feel the coldness expanding my lungs while I ran. I watched the sunrise standing in a grove of trees down near the pond.
After the run, I came back, got cleaned up, had a smoothie and then set down to finish up some of the transcribing I’ve been doing on the Men of Letters card filing system. That’s not technically work, it’s something that I look forward to doing. Those guys really had their finger on the pulse of everything back then.
Got a call from Ruby in the afternoon. She and I have been talking about going away to somewhere exotic for dinner for a couple of weeks now and she wanted to know if it was a good time to go. Sounded good, so she popped here to get me, and we popped over to Santorini Greece.
We spent a few hours walking the streets just like all the other tourists. Felt good to be somewhere no one knew us and it was a really enjoyable afternoon. We later had a nice dinner at one of the local restaurants with a terrace. The food was wonderful and watching the sunset over the water was something I’ll remember forever.
So, there you go… my Perfect Day Off.

Hidden Gems of Madrid
Hello everyone! Another busy week in the books. On Monday, me and some of my friends decided to go out! Luckily, I don’t have class until the evening on Tuesdays, so I wasn’t too worried about staying out late. We started our night by splitting a bunch of tapas at a local restaurant. We ordered some classics like a cheese and meat board, and fried calamari and anchovies. I also discovered my new favorite drink of choice - a tinto de verano. Overall, it was a great start to my week!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The rest of my week consisted of going to class, enjoying the sunshine, and studying at local coffee shops! I know every week I say that I have found my new study spot, and this week is no different. I have 2 new favorites - Cafe A’dore, and Slow Cafe. Both of these are great spots where you can sit for hours and get some work done, all while enjoying some great coffee and a relaxing ambiance. I’ve become quite addicted to chocolate croissants due to all of these cafe visits.
Later this week me and my roommates decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go on a day trip! We took an hour-long bus ride to the outside of Madrid to Manzanares. This was really convenient as the bus ride was free with our metro cards! After getting off the bus, we walked to some local trails. We hiked for about 3 hours, and the views were gorgeous! The trails were rocky and went straight into the mountains, and then we broke onto a smaller path along a river back into town. We were able to enjoy some homemade sandwiches while taking in the beauty of the park, and overall, it was a nice change of scenery for the day! If you are in Madrid for an extended amount of time and are looking for something a bit different, I highly recommend checking this out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On Sunday, the weather was at its best. It was a sunny 60 degrees with clear skies, so once again, I was looking for an activity outside to enjoy the weather! I ventured to Casa De Campo, a large park located a bit outside of downtown Madrid. This park was gorgeous, with a beautiful lake surrounded by restaurants and trails. It was much bigger than El Retiro, but it takes a bit longer to get to as it is located more on the outskirts of the city. Me and my friends enjoyed the sunshine with a picnic with some food we picked up from the market. We were hoping to take a gondola home, as there is also a gondola line from the park into the city! Unfortunately, we were too late as they had already closed for the day, but it’s on my bucket list to go back and ride them soon.

It was another great week in the beautiful city of Madrid.

Best Time to Visit Scotland
Scotland is one such country that is truly worthwhile visiting all year round. The lush land offers jaw-dropping scenery, fascinating history, vibrant culture, and, of course, not to forget the whisky and tartan. If you are planning a trip to this magnificent country while obtaining your UK visa online and are wondering when is the best time, we can tell you that there is no such thing. It just depends on what you want to see and do.
So, here is a quick overview for you to determine the best time to visit and what to expect during your visit in each season.
Tumblr media
When is the best time to visit Scotland?
The best time to visit Scotland is during spring (late March to May) and fall (September to November), just outside the peak season when the weather is delightful.
Summer and winter also have plenty to do and see. As a result, it is primarily dependent on your Scotland travel plans.
Weather in Scotland
Tumblr media
Scotland has a temperate climate all year, but it can get a little humid because it receives a lot of rain (which is why it's so lush!).
The weather here never really hits extremes, the heat is mild, and the cold is bearable. Even during the hot summers, most cities' temperatures rarely exceed 80 °F (27 °C).
While considering the geographical overview of Scotland at its far northern latitude, summer days have up to 18 hours of daylight, giving you more time to explore around; in the winter, the number drops to seven to eight hours of daylight.
Summer in Scotland
Tumblr media
Summer is undoubtedly the peak season in Scotland, with warm temperatures bringing out folks from around the world and locals alike to enjoy the sunny weather, longer days, and fun things to do and see.
Temperatures usually average in the upper 60s and low 70s (19–23 °C) throughout most of the country, except for highland and elevated areas. However, remember that warmer days bring the country’s wettest seasons; it may be sunny, but it's also showering a lot!
Best places to visit during Summer in Scotland
The best beach days in the Hebrides
Don’t miss the capital, Edinburgh’s festivals, lively nightlife, and loads of medieval history.
Play golf at one of the most iconic courses in the world St. Andrews.
Glasgow offers a taste of both the coast and the highlands.
Fall in Scotland
Tumblr media
Fall brings a drop in temperature and tourists. You can find numerous things to do and places to visit before the last warm days, with temperatures in the low 60s, so it’s the perfect time to reconnect with nature.
The fall foliage offers an impressive sight, especially in the highlands, and loads of mesmerizing waterfalls to enjoy.
Best places to visit during fall in Scotland
The Highlands are unmissable.
Glasgow for some authentic Scottish meals.
A trip to Aberdeenshire for the seamless castle and history
Glencoe National Nature Reserve
Winter in Scotland
Tumblr media
Winter in Scotland is the cheapest time to travel to Scotland, as it’s the low season for tourism. You will find cheaper accommodations, a unique experience, and less crowding at Scotland tourist attractions. Temperatures usually range between 35-45ºF and Scottish cities do experience rainfall in winter.
Best Places to visit during winter in Scotland
Edinburgh for the winter festival and free museums
Cairngorms National Park for skiing and snowboarding.
Galloway National Park for spellbinding stargazing.
Spring in Scotland
Spring is quite similar to fall in terms of weather and crowds. The weather is unpredictable, with temperatures ranging from 4 to 15 degrees Celsius. Warmer weather and a low crowd make it a great time to visit Scotland.
Best places to visit during spring in Scotland
The Shetland Islands for incredible wildlife
Enjoy whale-and-dolphin watching in the northern Scottish Isles.
Edinburgh cherry blossoms and less crowded attractions
So, plan your trip according to the places and things you want to experience in Scotland.

Port orford to hecta head lighthouse
Tumblr media
The northern-most lighthouse is nicknamed “Terrible Tilly.” The Tillamook Rock Lighthouse is situated over a mile away from the mainland on a tall basalt rock island and is exposed to fierce Pacific Ocean forces. This one is the shortest (38 feet) Oregon Lighthouse and is definitely worth the visit. We were never able to have sunny weather at the Cape Meares Lighthouse. Just a few miles inland from the coast the weather can be warm and beautiful but at this lighthouse’s location it can be entirely different. This spot can be very windy and we were advised to point our car toward the wind to avoid having the doors blown off! This structure stands on federal land and is part of the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area. The Yaquina Head Lighthouse was first illuminated in 1873 and is 162 feet above sea level. We drove nearby and did not realize that there are two with Yaquina in their names and we missed it. Near the town of Newport is the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse which is the second-oldest standing lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. This may be the most popular Oregon lighthouse. This region of the Oregon Coast north of Florence is beautiful and rugged. The beautiful treed setting is a popular site for weddings and it offers the opportunity to spend the night in the lightkeeper’s house. One of the most striking locations for a lighthouse is found at Heceta Head. This lighthouse is easy to access and it even has its own museum. It is located high on a coastal ridge overlooking the Winchester Bay. Near the town of Reedsport is the Umpqua River Lighthouse. The best views of the lighthouse are along a coastal trail near Sunset Bay State Park. It is set apart from the coastline and is not open to the public. It was commissioned in 1896 and is near the town of Bandon, Oregon.įarther north near the largest town on the southern Oregon coast, Coos Bay, is the Cape Arago Lighthouse. On our second try we were able to visit the Coquille River Lighthouse in good enough weather to photograph. It is the oldest standing lighthouse on the Oregon Coast commissioned in 1870. The most southern lighthouse is the Camp Blanco Lighthouse near the small town of Port Orford. Add in the jagged cliffs and large sand dunes and you have a special place to visit. The rugged coast that is often shrouded with fog and clouds has its own special beauty. It can be cold even in the middle of the summer with the locals building fires on the beach to stay warm. Don’t think for a minute think that these beaches are like Florida beaches. The coast is popular during the summer since the daily temperatures can be 10-20 degrees cooler than the populous central valley of the state. This year we were able to visit the southern Oregon Coast and that allowed us to visit the ones that we had previously missed. Army Corps of Engineers and all the remaining ones have been added to the National Register of Historic Places. Most of the Oregon lighthouses were built between 18 by the U.S. It has taken several trips to the coast but we have been able to visit eight of the nine existing ones. Though there has been a guiding light in the Santa Cruz Harbor since the mid 60s the present lighthouse was only built in 2002, making it the youngest lighthouse of this bunch. The Oregon Coast, also called the “ Peoples Coast” because of the long stretches of land accessible to the public, is home to nine historic lighthouses. Jadav Molai Payan: 10 Things I Wish I'd Known Earlier
So here are some tricks for receiving the ideal Drop images:
Whether it is sunny it is sweet to incorporate a polarizing filter above your lens that can help Lower glare in the sun shining about the leaves. It also has the good thing about darkening the blue sky and saturating hues. Despite the fact that I've advisable that every serious photographer Use a polarizing filter This is actually the time and energy to carry it out and find out how it can really enhance All those shots. The diploma of polarization with this particular filter will probably be distinctive according to the route (relative to your Sunshine) that you'll be photographing. Since the sun moves from East to West, the most beneficial route for any polarizing influence is photographing inside a Southerly or Northerly route. Usually you need the sun to become at your shoulder for the most effective influence. Polarizing filters also rotate Hence the degree of polarization can be managed by the amount the filter is rotated over the lens.
Whilst a sunny day is good for people sweeping landscapes, should you take place being out on the cloudy or rainy day invest your time and energy photographing the greater thorough elements of leaves. Whilst the Solar makes a light that is definitely severe since it is this kind of a little pinpoint of sunshine, clouds soften The sunshine making a massive diffuse gentle resource. This mild won't Solid any shadows and colours continue to keep on being pretty saturated. To point out detail we want this type of light-weight. You'll find that the polarizing filter will have small impact when It can be cloudy nevertheless it might help to cut the glare from the h2o on leaves If they're wet from rain. Rain on anything at all could make it seem far better. Some photographers provide spray bottles of h2o to add the rain have an impact on on their bouquets and leaves.
Do not forget to look up and down inside your grove of fixing leaves. By searching up you could distinction the colour of your yellow leaves with the colour with the blue sky. Yellow and blue are complementary colors which appear superb with each other. Seek out appealing patterns of branches spreading up in the sky from your trees. Screw on your polarizing filter for a fair nicer impact of deep blue sky.
Never be afraid to photograph right in to the Sunshine. I try out to place the Solar behind a department and move right up until just a small ray shines out from behind. This little stage of sunshine will develop into a star burst in your photograph, particularly when you employ a little aperture. Experiment to determine how this performs and continue to keep trying until you get that award winning image.
After wanting up commit a while wanting on the forest floor for colourful leaves grouped with each other. Several of the undergrowth is much more vibrant as opposed to trees. Even though I prefer to find what's previously there, I have been recognised to assemble leaves to group alongside one another in my own synthetic composition over the forest floor.
It is nice to carry your tripod alongside when photographing below trees http://www.thefreedictionary.com/forest man of india exactly where The sunshine can be confined as well as your publicity may be as well long handy maintain your camera. Remember to get seriously close to the leaves much too. Should you transpire to generally be around drinking water or a small creek search for leaves floating during the h2o or caught in an eddy.
Acquire the perfect time to love this colorful time and capture its attractiveness Whilst you can.
Traveling the Pacific Coastline on highway 1 between San Simeon and Carmel as a result of Large Sur is filled with extraordinary surroundings, where the turquoise waters crash into the rugged cliffs and mountains which rise up ideal within the ocean. For over 60 miles the freeway winds its way alongside the cliff partitions delivering spectacular sights all-around each switch. Together the best way are pullouts providing some exceptional photographic possibilities, as well aspect streets to factors of fascination and Condition Parks with hiking trails.
Just North of San Simeon is Ragged Position ignore which showcases what lies ahead and for the brave at coronary heart, a move path down the cliff wall results in the rocky shoreline. Just off the freeway is Piedra Blancas Light-weight Station, a historic park and wildlife sanctuary which happens to be a reminder of our previous in maritime navigation. Not just does the pullouts give amazing sights on the shoreline, but Sea Lions phone parts of the area household.
The large Sur Freeway is much much more than pretty much in which the mountains meet up with the Pacific Ocean, it portrays the beauty of the Santa Lucia Mountains, wherever the mountaineering trails takes just one to the forest. The Limekiln Condition Park near the smaller Group of Lucia has 3 trails, Each and every currently being a 50 percent mile one way with only modest elevation modifications. The very well-groomed Hare Canyon Path follows on the list of creeks by many of the oldest Redwood Trees along the massive Sur Coastline. At the end of the Limekilns path will be the kilns which were being-constructed within the turn of your century. Slightly more difficult would be the Falls Trail, exactly where a single must cross the creek in 4 areas and also the elevations are slightly steeper, but worthy of the effort. The end in the trail displays a one hundred-foot enthusiast-formed waterfall into a small pool well suited for swimming.
One of the more iconic places along the shoreline is Mc Way Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns Point out Park. A modest 50 %-mile trail qualified prospects under the freeway to an ignore to the cliff wall which supplies an awe-inspiring perspective of the water fall which drops 80-ft on to the sand beach and at large tide proper into the ocean. The.64-mile loop river route potential customers together the large Sur river with the lush forest of Redwoods with plenty of areas for the picnic, or maybe the half-mile round vacation to the massive Sur River Gorge, an undeveloped organic spot.
Mention bridges, the Big Sur freeway has A good number of; however, the freeway is home to at least one of the very best one span bridges on the earth. The Bixby Creek Bridge opened in 1932 and spans throughout Rainbow Canyon and is surrounded by mountains and soars 260 ft earlier mentioned wonderful turquoise waters, offering a check out which won't be before long overlooked.
Over the Northern conclude of the massive Spur Coastline in the vicinity of Carmel is Issue Lobos Point out Reserve. The reserve is like the Big Spur, except in a little package deal, which options coves, rolling meadows, and rocky shores in which the breathtaking views with the ocean are endless. The wonderful thing about Level Lobos tend to be the abundance of trails, in the inland trails by means of forest of Cypress Trees to your outer perimeter trails. For the top expertise, the just above eight miles of outer trails are a must, not only do they offer the defeat ocean views, Nevertheless they meander as a result of areas of the forest at the same time. These trails range from flat properly graded paths to steep elevation changes wherever roots, rocks, boulders, and person-manufactured actions help with footing. Furthermore, two of your outer trails have slender and steep trails which permits a single to access tiny sandy Beach front locations.
There're not many areas while in the place having a privately owned street that fees a cost to drive on, aside from the 17-mile road located within the Monterey Peninsula. This brief, but wonderful freeway passes by means of Pacific Grove and Pebble Seaside from the Del Monte Forest of wind sculpted Cypress Trees right before achieving the rocky coastline. The highway alongside the coast passes by scenic places for example China Rock, Fowl Rock, Lone Cypress, and the globe recognised Pebble Seaside Golf Study course.
Trees Enjoy a substantial role inside our survival and It is really certainly remarkable how significant they might get. The massive Basin Redwoods Point out Park which is home to the biggest steady stand of Coast Redwoods South of San Francisco delivers in excess of eighty-miles of back again region hiking trails via a thick forest of Redwoods, Sequoia's, as well as the smaller sized Tan Oaks. A lot of the Sequoia's and Redwoods here are around 300 ft tall and 50 feet in circumference and when just one stands following to those trees, it presents a brand new meaning to the phrase substantial. For readers with just a 50 % working day to enjoy the park, the Sequoia, Skyline, and Redwood are the most well-liked trails.
