eyy there, i know youre busy so please take your time answering if you have any ideas about this. you see, I've been feeling sort of down lately and i was wondering if you had any headcanons or anything about how the characters would make someone feel better when they're deep in the dumps? i know it won't fix my problems but it helps to imagine y'know?
I understand you, and I apologize for the long wait. I’ve been busy studying, and on top of that I had way too many breakdowns and I’m deep into health issues that are incapacitating me (headaches and the like).  Hopefully my answer will make it up for it.
Right off the bat, I feel like everyone would try to distract that someone in one way or another. Make them smile, or at least make them feel a little bit more... I don’t know, safe and less gloomy. It depends on the problem, obviously, but that’s the main strategy they all have.
I’m going to tackle Deathmask right now, because he’s a bit of a problematic one. What i mean is: if you take him before his death, basically when he was a hopeless bastard, there’s no way he’d try to make their day better. Rather, he’s going to make everything worse by adding to the situation.  But, if you take him after his death, especially if you take the Deathmask from Soul of Gold, he’d do whatever is in his power to make that someone feel better.
The best ones for this could maybe be Dohko, Aiolos and, even if it might seem surprising, Camus. Maybe even Saga, because he’s a good person if you take away the entire issue of his evil side. The reason? They raised children. It might be weird to think about it, but they all lived with children for a good chunk of their lives, they cared for them. What does that mean, you may ask? Well, there’s no way they don’t know how to tackle someone feeling down, after literally raising people. All of these Golds had their problems with those children, I bet, so they had to find a way to make those problems go away. You can be a strict master as much as you want, but at the end of the day you can’t teach anything to someone that’s feeling awful. They know how to recognize emotions, and they know how to deal with them. Maybe in a different way, maybe Dohko and Aiolos are going to try and make them laugh, maybe Camus would simply be there as a cold but comforting presence, but they know. Saga could use his abilities to show them something beautiful, thus distracting them from bad thoughts. The possibilities are endless with these Golds.
Something very similar can be said about Mu, because he raised Kiki, but he also has a very interesting personality. Rather than simply using his knowledge, he’d probably sit down and talk with the person that’s feeling down, learn something about them, and then use that knowledge to be of help. What do you know, he may show them how a Cloth is repaired, just to have them experiment a little bit of wonder and fun. He could throw Kiki in there, because that little rascal can make even me smile like a child.
Aldebaran I feel like wouldn’t be different, because he has a golden heart underneath all that armor. His priority would probably be something along the lines of “make them happy no matter how you do it”. He’d laugh along with them, probably tell a joke or two to raise their mood.
Milo is a mixture of all of them. He has a unique personality, he’s forgiving and lighthearted just as much as he is proud and serious, but he also cares a lot about other people and knows how to listen. For him, I think it depends on the situation. He’d definitely listen, or try to understand as much as he can, and then he’d decide what’s the best approach for the issue. Though, he’s not leaving until the person is smiling, or ever better laughing. He has to make their day better, even if just for a small amount of time, and he will go the extra mile to help them if he realizes they are in need of some serious help.
I am unsure about Aphrodite and Shura. I feel like Shura is a much better candidate at helping someone, given the understanding and helpful nature we get to see right before and after his death, but Aphrodite... I don’t really have a clear idea about what he’d do.  For sure he’s not going to idly stand around, but I feel like he’s not a good person to ask for help. I always get this feeling with him, that he’d be amazing at solving the problems of people he knows, like the other Gold Saints, but he wouldn’t know what to do if presented with someone he doesn’t know at all. Maybe a couple encouraging words, but that’s it. He’s going to ask someone else to step in, definitely.
One that is kinda good but kinda bad at the same time is Aiolia. We know how bad he messed up, and we know how amazing he became after that. Though, that doesn’t mean he reacts well to people’s emotions. Hell, even Soul of Gold showed us how incredibly unaware Aiolia was, either on purpose or not. Not only that, he had a pretty difficult life because of his brother being labeled as a traitor, so he does have an extensive knowledge about feeling awful, but his experience is so specific and bizarre that I think he wouldn’t be able to help that much.  Now, I might be projecting me into him, because I’ve had an horrifying time growing up, but I legitimately don’t think he knows how to deal with something out of his knowledge.  In short, he’d be amazing in some situation, but would completely mess up in others.
As honorable mentions, I’d like to say that the best at dealing with people having bad days, breakdowns, or feeling awful in general could be Marin and Shun. Maybe Shiryu as well.  I initially wanted to include Ikki in this, given the incredible care he has for Shun (Galaxian Wars notwithstanding), but I think he’d be less useful and more of a problem towards people he doesn’t know or trust.  There’s also a good number of secondary characters, most notably Shunrei, that I think would be awesome at cheering up someone.
I hope you see this answer, and I hope I didn’t disappoint you. Again, I’m very very sorry that I wasn’t able to write anything sooner, but all these months came crashing down on me and I snapped real bad.
For you readers that are still waiting for more Honest Opinions (shameless promo, I know), I think I’ll be able to write Thanatos tomorrow. If you don’t see anything, assume I either passed out after twelve hours of studying or laying down with a terrible headache and no will to live left.
