Who wants a spoiler for the Wales-centric historical Hetalia fic I've been writing? See below the cut.
Warning: There are some dub-con dynamics and implications in the following excerpt, but no sexual content. This is creepy, but nuanced, I hope. Still, if these things affect you, I'd recommend not reading.
“Have you never seen yourself?”
There was humour in Rome’s voice as Rhydian observed himself in the polished silver he’d been handed, turning his face to and fro as the older man had that day. He ran a critical eye over his nose, his eyes, his jawline and cheekbones. The way his hair had grown out from his tribesmen’s old style had left him blinking pale strands from his lashes, and had gotten yet another compliment from the man.
Rhydian fucking hated him.
“In still waters, yes,” He answered, tone completely civil, “Not like this, however. You were right, I am quite pretty.”
Rome laughed, then, running a hand through Rhydian’s hair and leaning the boy back to rest on his chest. The younger closed his eyes, swallowing hard, but let Rome do as he wished; he didn’t have much energy to spit and hiss as he’d done when the older man first saw fit to see him settle into the “new home” he’d “so graciously” provided.
The house was beautiful, he couldn’t fault it for that, but it just felt so… unnecessary. Merely decorative. Rome had laughed before about his “mud huts” and Rhydian hadn’t appreciated it at all, throwing the cup of wine the other had given him in his face - staining the brilliant white of his toga - before the young nation marched out of the dining hall and to bed.
“It’s a personal quirk,” He continued, shrugging, “We have mirrors, too. Made of bronze rather than silver, though.”
“You can see the truer colours with silver,” Rome hummed, “See how lovely your eyes are. The rosiness of your cheeks. Your pretty hair.”
The last utterance was punctuated by a kiss, right on the crown of Rhydian’s head, and the mirror clattered to the floor.
At once, he was on his feet, chair falling away as he pushed out of Rome’s admittedly soft hold, eyes wild and heart hammering. He called Caledfwlch to his side in an instant, poised and ready to defend, and Rome only met his aggression with more laughter.
Rhydian dreamed of cutting his throat, letting the blood bubble up every time the older man tried to snicker in that infuriating manner, but he never did. It was better to settle, live alongside the Romans and share their cultures. To just calmly accept it all and roll with the punches. He wasn’t conquered like Albion apparently was. It wasn’t perfect, but an uneasy truce was a truce nonetheless.
And the figs Rome had bought him were sweet.
His shoulders slowly lowered, breathing out the tension, but his sword still in hand. Just in case. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“Has anyone ever told you that you should relax?” The older man asked, as if it were the simplest thing in the world, and Rhydian swallowed against glass shards, “Not every touch is mean spirited, or an attack.”
No, but they could be.
“You’re right,” He falsely acknowledged, the flesh of his cheek between his molars as Caledfwlch was sent away once more, “I’ve never been good with uncertainty.”
“You really don’t know where you stand with me, do you?”
The words were spoken in the closest thing to sadness that Rhydian had heard from Rome in the past months, nearly year long they’d been going through this back and forth. It made his shoulders slump further, a faint metal taste in his mouth at the kicked-dog expression the other was wearing.
Am I really the bad guy here?
“I don’t,” He concurred, voice quiet, “Why capture me to release me? Why flounce between Italy and Albion, only to come back here and spend the whole time feeding me strange food and calling me pretty.”
There was that silence again, but it didn’t stretch as long. Perhaps it was the tentative understanding that starts to build from this sort of time together. Not the same as tribesmen, nothing near, but familiarity. Like how he knows Rome will indulge in red wine until he’s sick several times over, and how Rome knows he likes leek with his rabbit and will nibble on cherries for dessert.
“You’re more valuable to me as an ally, I think,” Rome admitted, “Your metal work - both weapons-wise and jewellery - is extremely impressive. You make so many small details look so effortless, and craft some truly delicate pieces. You’re also willing to bite and claw and scratch to keep your freedom, no matter how much it costs you. It’s almost inspiring. Besides…”
Rhydian swallowed once again, that sharpness increasing tenfold, blinking back a sting in his eyes at the praise. At the admittance of how talented and tenacious his people were. Feeling proud and yet so, so small all at once, in a way only Rome could accomplish.
“You have a face that makes me want to dote on you, show you the ways of the world.”
A step towards him, and another, and another until those big hands encircled his own wrists. Looking up at that soft, guileless smile, he felt his stomach swoop in something dread-adjacent. He wasn’t scared, but was certainly apprehensive of what expectation was held in each gentle touch. Body language exchanged in the silence of the newly built villa and filled the empty space with tension.
Rome’s face whispered go on without uttering a single word. He let himself be led to the bed - metal and precious and expertly crafted, topped with a soft down mattress - and Rome took a seat first. A guiding hand pulled him onto the man’s lap, and he put up little resistance, but didn’t meet his eyes.
The older’s hand dipped into the little box on the bedside table, offering its spoils as he was delicately perched. Like he had to be treated gently, like the wind and rain didn’t mould him, like he was soft and sweet. He felt like he was absent from his own body, somewhere to the side of himself, floating in that same space that Caledfwlch disappeared to when he no longer needed it.
Like he no longer needed his mind. Like he could simply float in the ether.
Rome offered his hand, pressed his fingertips to his lips, and Rhydian took a bite.
The pomegranate was sickly sweet.

Ooh, ok, so how did Brodie get the scars on his back? Where did he get/meet Boudicca? What is the dark history behind his gun (the red rooster one not his dad’s piece)? And just like how did he end up an outlaw? What happened to his family? Did he have siblings? Is he from England/Wales originally? (I ask because of the surname)
The scars on his back came from being whipped/flogged in prison! He was sentenced to hang, but his uncles Peter and Tate broke him outta there before that happened.
Boudicca was a gift from his closest uncle, Peter. He got stranded in a town without a horse for a short while and SOMEHOW his elusive uncle find out and somehow bought a wild horse and got it sent to wherever Brodie was at the time. She was a wild horse too so Brodie had to gentle her on his own. Straight up received a letter from his uncle going "HEY SON HEARD YOU NEED A HORSE WELL THERE'S ONE FOR YA AT THE LIVERY STABLE" and it was the most stubborn, high spirited wild mare he'd ever seen. Never really managed to tame her properly, she refuses to be ridden by anyone but him and she bites strangers who come too close.
(Jack and Jack's horse, Blondie, are the only other human and horse she will tolerate)
The red gun he stole off a soldier and later had the metals tinted red and black cause he thought it'd look really cool (he was wrong). He gained the nickname Red Rooster from outlaws and cowboys who thought he had abit of a temperament, like a rooster, and since his hair is red they started calling him red rooster. It was meant to mock him and he didn't like it. Most times it made him angrier and act up even more when people called him that. In a fit of anger he carved the name into his red gun, but regretted it later on. Eventually it stuck though and it became his nickname and outlaw alias. It became the gun he would use when doing Outlaw Stuff, and the gun he uses when his desire is to kill.
You know when he pulls out the red gun, he means BUSINESS. And it's such an ugly gun too!
He was raised in a gang (: The story of his parents and the gang his parents were in is also SO MUCH. The lore goes deep...
Basically, his father Nicky Bradshaw and his bestfriend Peter Mason met when they were kids. Peter was an orphan and eventually the two ran away together, doing petty thievery in towns and cities and so on. They met Carrie, who was the daughter of a somewhat wealthy man but she dreamt of a life with more adventure, so she ran away with Nicky and Peter... The three of them would journey together, running scams and doing thievery and things like that. Eventually they joined a gang and stayed with that gang until the end. Nicky and Carrie eventually got married (wheter this was an actual legal marriage could be discussed lol) and they had a son, Brodie.
Brodie was raised among the gang members until he was 7 when they were all ambushed by lawmen and most of them died. Nicky died in that ambush, but Brodie, Carrie, Peter and gang leader Tate managed to escape. Carrie dies two years later and Brodie is raised by Peter and Tate.
He had no siblings and his family comes from Scotland! His grandparents on his father's side was scottish immigrants. His grandparents on his mother's side I'm unsure of. Brodie was born in the US (:

"The Invisible Girl" by Mary Shelley
Hello, guys!
Today, for my fourth blog post, I will analyze another short gothic fiction story that I read. The story is written by Mary Shelley an English novelist who also wrote Frankenstein in the early 19th century. Sadly I will not analyze and talk about Frankenstein today, because today I am going to analyze a short gothic story called "The Invisible Girl". The story was written in 1832. The story might have also gotten the name because Rosina wandered around in the woods and some people saw her but no one recognised her or saw her longer than 5 seconds so they maybe thought that it was a ghost or an invisible girl.
Let's start by summarising the plot of the story. There was an Orphan named Rosina, who was adopted by a man called Sir Peter Vernon. He (Sir Peter) also has a son. His son's name is Henry, and he plays a major role in the story because Rosina and Henry were good friends and over time they fell in love. Then Sir Peter's sister came and told Sir Peter about Henry and Rosina being in love/having a relationship and Sir Peter remained pretty calm. But his sister then started hammering on Rosina and spreading false information so over time Sir Peter got madder and madder over time so one day he screamed at her and "kicked" her out (Rosina actually ran away, but it was because Sir Peter was being so mad and yelling at her so we could pretty much say he kicked her out). She goes to a tower to live there. Henry later discovers that Rosina is no longer living with them and that she disappeared. One night Henry cannot sleep and he sees a light in the tower and he goes to the tower and Rosina is there so they talk and Henry said that Sir Peter did not mean it and that he was sad that Rosina ran away. A little time after that they Married. Maybe Sir Peter also approved of the marriage, because he felt guilty and he was sorry that he was so harsh with her. Over time Sir Peter also started to realize that it doesn't matter who his son marries it just matters that they love him. He also saw that Henry really loved and wanted to be in a relationship with Rosina.
Now after we have summarised the plot let's talk about where and when the story took place. The story takes place in Wales. The story Mainly takes place at Sir Peter's house. The time must be the start or in the middle of the 18th century because in the story there was mentioned that the house was litten by candles and not by electricity and according to google says that electricity was invented in 1752.
Let's quickly also talk about the narrator(s) and who they could be. The narrator could be an old woman. Maybe it could be Rosina because she is Female. The narrator could also be Henry because the narrator knew things that only Henry and Rosina, or maybe Sir Peter should know/knew about. If it was not Rosina, Henry or Sir Peter, then the narrator could be unreliable because then the story was most likely told on (maybe many times) so it might have changed and many people added some more interesting and entertaining things to the story. If the story was told on many times then the servant could have also been the narrator. Anyone who had really heard the story could have been the narrator.
Moving on let's talk about the characters:
Rosina was skinny because she didn't eat very much, she was described as self-spoken and warmhearted. I also thought that she was very caring and loving and maybe appreciative because she was an orphan and Sir Peter and Henry treated her very well. Some people said that she was maybe a gold digger, but I think that these speculations are false, because she had all the benefits, while she was living with Sir Peter and she had a loving family and as already said she was very kind so I don't really expect her to be a gold digger. She was also very shy. She must have also had some kind of education because she could write letters and many at that time could not write or read. She could have also gotten some education while living with Sir Peter because he had many books. In addition to being very shy, loving and kind she was also very beautiful.
Let's move on to describe Sir Peter Vernon, who was Henry's dad and Rosina's stepdad. Sir Peter might have been harsh, strict or old-fashioned, but truly he was a very loving man who loved his family/kids. He cared about them very much and when he realized that Rosina had run away he was very sad and started to look for her and he also felt guilty and he definitely missed Rosina, because she was still his daughter (step-daughter). He was also short-tempered. He might have acted like that because maybe his father acted like that towards him. He also did not want that Rosina marries Henry, because he didn't want a poor orphan with no inheritance to marry his son and embarrass him/ make fun of his name. (Embarrass Sir Peter).
Henry was very loving and kind because he loved and treated Rosina fairly even though she was not his real sister. When he fell in love with her he did not care if Rosina was poor or not, because he didn't judge the people with whom he was together in a relationship so maybe he doesn't really care who the person is he cares more about the love and that the person truly loves him and not only for his/ father wealth.
Now let's talk about the theme and conflict. Sir Peter "kicked" out Rosina, because she was together with his son. So it could be man vs man (Henry vs his father). I think that the theme is gothic/ gothic stories because the people thought that the invisible girl who they saw in the woods was a ghost and that the candlelight in the tower was also litten by a ghost. Another theme could also be love, because of Rosina and Henry's relationship.
I think that the moral of the story is not to listen to others always (Sir Peter listened to his toxic sister and started to hate and turn against Rosina) and also that a person can marry anyone who they want as long as the person loves them back, is kind and fights for their relationship. (Like Henry fought and tried to find Rosina).
Thank you for reading this week's blog post. It was a pleasure analyzing the story. I hope you had fun and I will be happy to present the last analysis to you next week!
Kind regards,
Your Blogger.

L*ne St*r Hate Watch 3x07
I nearly completely forgot about this show 😅
Disclaimer: you love the show, I hate it! Don't read this, move on with your life and have a great day.
Eddie Diaz because he's beautiful sunshine:
Tumblr media
Surprised with this show that they didn't actually show us the dude splattering on the road sign
Loving this cop with a chip on his shoulder about firefighters
Imagine rolling up and demanding they move a fucking firetruck
HE'S WRITING THEM A TICKET! A TICKET??? NUISANCE OBSTRUCTION?????
Hilarious 10/10 for comedy
A man is sitting in Grace's seat
Of course his name is Dave
I've seen this dude in something but I cannot place him, I'm getting What We Do in the Shadows vibes but I know that's not right (side note - that'll be back on TV soon!!)
Carlos is going to give himself an ulcer one day I swear to god
"red vs blue" kind of like Queensland vs New South Wales but like, with emergency personnel (that's just a little Australian rugby league State of Origin reference for all you Americans reading this)
I genuinely don't care about this
In this scenario, even though it's LS, I am team firefighter because who the fuck wants to be team police? Like honestly
This man HAS EATEN GRACE'S FOOD
Who the fuck goes into a communal fridge and just takes food that's not theirs
Grace hates Dave, this is the only rivalry I care about
Quick life update – I baked a chocolate cake today, absolutely fucking crushing it you guys
THE COP TOWED THE FUCKING FIRE TRUCK????
I feel like this would never happen in real life, but I appreciate how bonkers it is
Oh no Dave's going to jump in on Grace's call and she's going to kill him
Oh wait maybe Dave's proving himself to Grace?
He did still steal her potato salad though so like, he's going to have to make up for that
I hate that we see the 126 bunk room but never the one at the 118
Because you just know Buck and Eddie sleep right next to each other, like, 100%
Judd and Grace make this show worth watching
So they're having a baseball game against the cops which I think is dumb
I have been sitting here eating a bag of chips and not really paying attention
But I can tell you what's going to happen – someone, probably Owen Strand, is going to hit a home run and win the game
Because there's no way the 126 is losing this
Man I really thought they were going to bring in Billy to help them play baseball and I'm so annoyed it's this random medic from last season (remember when Tim got smashed by a lava rock? Good times)
The random medic seems to have stood them up for the baseball game
The song they're using in this scene is the "Mahna Mahna" song from The Muppets -> https://youtu.be/QTXyXuqfBLA
Also it was used in a sunscreen commercial in Australia - "banana boat, it's 30+, banana boat, it lasts for hours and hours and hours, banana boat!"
Anyway what I'm saying is that I think it's a weird song choice
Yo I think the cops are winning
Also I don't care about this baseball plotline but I'm annoyed they did it on LS and not the OG so we could see Ryan in baseball gear
Damn I was hoping TK would get hit in the face with a baseball
They called Nancy "the big whiff" in high school, in Australia that means something very different
Oh the cops temporarily arrested the new medic
Wow baseball is fucking boring
I just know that Owen is going to score the winning home run or something
Oh maybe it'll be Nancy? That'd be a plot twist
Owen is being very supportive of her and not completely terrible so that's a good thing
Oh she did it
And wow the 126 win
Amazing
What a triumph of the human SPIRIT – OH WAIT SOMEONE TRIPPED HER
I think this might turn into a rumble
"You hose jockeys" all right calm down you big turd
Owen threw a punch and now they're fighting, and when I said "this might turn into a rumble" earlier, I didn't actually think it would
The new medic is displeased
His name is Pearce and he is not a team player and he's quit so it literally does not matter
Such a missed opportunity for Eddie Diaz to show off his baseball prowess on the OG, honestly
Dave's either going to prove himself in this scene or not
Oh yeah he's proving himself
Dave's got some issues
Dave's having a heart attack
Dave might die and I kind of hope he doesn't
This has been a literal rollercoaster of emotions
Oh no he's fine, we're all good, everyone can chill
"There's like, a fire, man, but don't worry, it's cool" – hilarious (there's a fire at a marijuana grow house)
Okay so now the 126 is going to prove themselves to the dickhead cop and he and Owen are going to shake hands with a newfound grudging respect for each other
HA THE COPS ARE ALL STONED
Owen is going to rescue the dickhead cop, and then there'll be a handshake and grudging respect, mark my words
Okay so the dickhead cop is stoned off his fucking tits
I was wrong about the handshake, it was a hug instead
Pretty gay, you guys. Pretty gay
This episode feels weird to me, like it's cop rehabilitation or something. The cops were being fucking dicks this whole episode
Oh wait here's the stoned dickhead now
Here comes the handshake, and now he's having dinner with them. I think he and Owen might fuck later
L*ne St*r: After Dark
Oh, Grace is visiting Dave in the hospital and she brought him kale. I'd kick her the fuck out
Oh shit DAVE LIED TO THE SUICIDAL GUY ON THE PHONE ABOUT HIS FATHER COMMITTING SUICIDE? That's ice cold Dave
Dave's joining the day shift, good for him
Grace may murder him yet
Oh they're having a party at TK and Carlos' house
A trophy ceremony ugh this is so fucking dumb
"It's my Mom," TK says in a monotone. "She's dead."
I was spoiled for this so it's not a shock, but fuck do I have some feelings about it – like, she's barely in the fucking show, she's just had a baby at like, 50 years old, and they fucking killed her? They've fucking KILLED HER?
It just pisses me off because I don't care about TK and Owen, and the whole next episode is going to be about this and you know it's going to be a total fucking shitshow. If they wanted to have a relapse storyline for TK – which I feel like this is where it's going – then they could've done it with the breakup? Or like, his near death experience, or something?
Unless the plan is that they're going to give the baby to TK to raise because the father is dead as well, but honestly, whatever the plan is, I think it's dumb as all fuck and I'm mad about it.
Lisa Edelstein deserves better and this reminds me why I hate this fucking show.
Sure, it has moments, and I'm invested in Grace and Judd's storyline, but they pull this Grey's Anatomy shit and I'm like, first of all, fuck you. Fuck you for randomly killing off a character who is barely even relevant to the show just to give TK and Owen some man pain; just because you were too lazy to come up with some other storyline for them.
Killing characters willy nilly is lazy fucking writing and this show has been guilty of that before (hello, zombie Tim) and they're doing it again. It just smacks to me that they have no fucking idea what they're doing, where the show is going or how to write for any of the other characters except the two white male leads.
It's fucking bullshit.
This has been a rant.

ive talked about this on my main after my first listen of the grey mare but actually im interested in seeing other peoples opinions on this so im posting it in the tags too. post will contain spoilers.
i think the grey mare wouldve worked much better if it had been another character than ianto.
dont get me wrong, it was a great story and i enjoyed it, but it didn't feel like a ianto story. aside from the vague parallel between annies (correct me if im wrong on the names i have trouble remembering them) husband and lisa, there weren't many things indicating that this was a ianto story, in fact some details almost seemed to point in the opposite direction.
i dont know how realistic it would be for ianto to not know any welsh because i really dont know the languages history enough, but i do know that itd be strange for ianto not to know anything about the mari llwyd when his grandmother lived in a small village not unlike the one where ianto goes on holiday. even without knowing all the details i assume ianto wouldve at least heard of it, i personally do know some of the local traditions even without participating in them. ianto is also someone who just knows a lot of things so we can safely assume hed have at least a bit of knowledge of his country's traditions.
according to the interviews, the writers were going for some kind of 'modern man VS traditional village' themes, which i feel also contradicts iantos character: while hes definitely somewhat modern with his whole 'posh london personal assistant' persona, hes also someone whos really attached to older things (black and white movies, the stopwatch, his diary, jack, etc) which is something gareth david-lloyd has mentioned in interviews as seen below (i dont remember which issue of the torchwood magazine this was in, sorry, but i can check if asked)
Tumblr media
using ianto as a character also makes it difficult to fit this into the timeline. it cannot be set before season one as ianto was still working in torchwood one, it cannot be set in season one due to christmas being covered by the episode out of time and ianto being clearly still at the hub at the time of john ellis' suicide, and it cannot be set after season two due to ianto dying in september 2009. but it is still strange for ianto to be alone on christmas during season two, seeing as it would be set relatively late into the season which means that hes already very close to jack and christmas is typically a holiday you spend with loved ones. the deaths of toshiko and owen do not have a very precise date so they could happen before OR after christmas 2008 with no problems, however it would be even stranger for jack to send ianto away if it were after their deaths. disregarding the dates mentioned in out of time would make it possible for the audio to be set in season one, but ianto's calm demeanour in front of the strangeness of the mari llwyd makes that unlikely as well.
toshiko wouldve actually been a better fit. going on a holiday alone wouldn't be too strange for her, she is someone whos very connected to technology, and not knowing welsh traditions wouldn't seem strange for her (i dont think they ever mentioned whether she lived in wales or in england when she wasn't in japan during her childhood, but as far as i can tell she doesnt really have a welsh accent so she was probably in england). i believe her last appearance in out of time is when jack talks about how there's 'no puzzle to solve, no ennemy to fight', so she couldve easily taken a few days off after that, especially if she was upset about owen and diane. i feel like toshiko couldve been more fitting in this role with next to no changes to the script.

Information
Patrick Knight and Juliet Evergreen were high school sweethearts. They were your typical teenage love story. Most popular in school, and prom king and queen. They got married at 19 and at 21 they had their first birth. Two twin daughters named Francis and Alice.
A year later they had their second daughter Samantha and decided that three girls was enough for them.
They brought the girls up close and throughout their childhood they were irrespirable. Fran and Alice were parically close. The two girls loved each other, they were each other's best friend and this often left Sam feeling left out. This led Sam into misbehaving to get her family's attention. She became angry whenever the twins would do something without her, even if it was something neither of them could control like joining school a year before her. Because of her anger, Alice and Fran tended to keep away from her and wouldn't want to play with her by the time she was able to join school, making Sam even more mad and lonely.
Sam was over the moon when her parents told them that they were pregnant again and hoped that her new brother or sister could be her new friend.
Unfortunately, her parents didn't let her be with Hope much when she was first born. They didn't want her to act up and scare the baby. Francis and Alice spent most of their time playing with baby Hope and trying to get her to laugh, once again leaving Sam out.
By the time Hope had been born, Patrick and Juliet felt bored. They didn't want another kid and were tired enough by having to deal with the other three. They became even more infuriated when Juliet fell pregnant again five years later. Still, despite their desire to have no more kids they still tried to raise all five of them as best as they could.
The Family lived in a 5 bedroom house in Wales by the beaches. In this house the majority of the ground floor was taken up by the kitchen, with the only other room there being a bedroom which belonged to Sam. On the first floor was the main bathroom, the twins room and the living room. The second floor had Juliet and Patrick's shared room along with Hopes right next to their and Chase with the box room.
Sam had always liked her room. With where it was in the house it meant that she didn't have to interact with her family much. She had the kitchen right at her doorstep and never really would ever need to go upstairs if it wasn't for the bathroom. Having her room on the ground floor and her parents on the top also made it easier for her to sneak out of the house without anyone noticing. The family could go a week with only seeing Sam during family meals which Juliet and Patrick insisted they had every evening.
Both twins grew up with big ambitions in their life. With Samantha acting like she was they were determined to prove to their parents thag they were better and that Sam wasn't a reflection on any bad parenting. They both tried hard in school and got amazing grades. Francis planned to become a writer while Alice wanted to be an actress, they knew thag they were hard industries to get into but both truly believed that they could do it together.
On top of thag they also helped with looking after Hope and Chase. They would babysit without question and with their parents obviously growing tired of the whole parenting thing they made sure that both of them got the same opportunity's they did like taking them to after school clubs. But when they went off to university their parents didn't bother carrying on sending them to the clubs anymore. Luckily for Hope, she had just joined High school and had her own bus pass to get herself around.
With the twins gone it felt as if Juliet and Patrick had given up in their other three kids. Family dinners were no more and they didn't even bother picking Chase up from school anymore, Samantha started picking him up and dropping him off herself as she had the free time by skipping her lessons at college.
During the time that the twins are away, Patrick and Juliet do the minimum of amount of work they have to. Hope had started to follow in Sams footsteps and misbehaves during school but doesn't seem to care considering she knows her parents won't. She also goes out with her friends a lot leaving Chase alone in the house a lot while he's only eight.
When the twins come back after their first year and see what has become of their family Fran suggests that they spend their next year at home so they can look after their family. Alice disagrees and says that it's not her problem and it won't do her any good not going back to uni. Alice believes that they have done their bit and shouldn't have to look after everyone when they can become successful.
When September comes around, Alice is the only one out of the two to go back to uni. Patrick and Juliet are furious at Fran for dropping out and call her ungrateful. They told her that if she wanted to play the parent so much then she should and refused to do anything for their kids. This made it easier for Sam and Hope who became close by Sam teaching Hope how to do make up and roll a cigarette and buying her booze. Meanwhile Chase became incredibly clingy from being left alone too many times. He wouldn't want to go into school because he was scared thag nobody would be there to pick him up and he rarely left Frans side and even spent a lot of nights sleeping on Alices old bed because he felt rejected by everyone else.
Fran takes up a few side jobs to try to pay for essentials. Luckily for her, their parents still live with them so they still payed the rent, water bill and electict but every thing else was up for Fran to buy. Hope and Sam didn't have jobs so whenever they wanted money they would go to Fran, and if Fran didn't have any money to give then they would steal off their parents. Fran knew about this but didn't bother telling them off or not to do it. She knew it would go nowhere and if she was honest she would rather them steal from them than her.
When Alice graduated none of her siblings were there. Patrick and Juliet had banned them all from attending but told Alice that they didn't want to go. Alice felt betrayed by her siblings and got into an argument with Fran about it that night. She didn't belive thag her parents would live to her.
The next morning on June 16th 2014, Fran woke up to a note stuck on her bedroom door with an envelop full of money and different bills. The note said that her parents and Alice had gone off for a two week trip to America and would be back soon.
Fran didn't think anything of it at the time.
Two weeks passed and they still hadn't come back. They wouldn't for another six years.
During those six years Fran had managed to get through to Hope and Sam pretty early on. Sam agreed to get a job and they both started to help out more. Hope started working on her school and ended up doing reallt well in her GCSEs. Their main motivation was proving to their parents that they're not failures.
Chase has started high school and was doing average. He wasn't as bad as Hope and Sam but wasn't as good as Fran and Alice.
After a year they began to run out of money and were evicted from their home. They brought a one bedroom flat not far away so Hope and Chase could continue with school. They had to sell a lot of their things and all ended up sharing one room while sleeping on matresses on the floor.
When Hope left school she got a job straight away and went into a science course for college. Fran bad ended up giving up on her dream of becoming a writer and Sam knew that she wouldn't bet a career with her grades. Hope doesn't go to uni because they can't afford it.
On January 1st 2020, Alice comes knocking on their door. Fran is ready to kick her out before she tells her that their parents had been wrongfully accused of several murders and she needed their help to clear their name.
I am fully aware that the actors don't really look that much like siblings but i did the best i could.
Also Emília is three years older then Alicia and Lily but we're just going to ignore that.
The Knight family are the main character in a book i've decided to write called The Knight Trial. So here's some info on them and their backstory.
Also now after writing all of this I low-key wanna start writing one shots about their life before the murders.

Continuing my The Tudors live blog! I had these on my drafts for like a week but I hadn't properly finished writing it until now. I made some live comments only for ep 5 and 6 so here they are; ep 7 is just my afterthoughts.
Episode 5:
- The opening song goes so hard it's insane
- Why do they keep putting the women in off-shoulder dresses make it stop
- Catherine and Mary are cute!
- Why do they portray Mary being sent to Ludlow as a bad thing? She was literally being unofficially made Princess of Wales
- "HIS FUCKING UNCLE??" I CAN'T STOP LAUGHING HELP
- This show is weirdly funny in moments I'm sure are not meant to be funny
- Oh Margaret Pole exists in this show, nice!
- Henry gaslighting Margaret lol
- Henry's whole monologue interpreting the meaning of that ship Anne gave him sounds like an absolute reach but then I remembered is almost line by line Eric Ives' interpretation bye
- Brandon and Margaret are the worst storyline in the entire show they're so annoying together.
- They did Fitzroy dirty, I think he has never appeared in any Tudor visual media as an adult (well, grown teen) right?
- Bechdel test time! Only three interactions between women, all of them between Catherine, Mary and her ladies. I could count that scene in which Catherine talks to Lady Salisbury about Mary's education in Wales as the first scene in the show that passes the test, since here we have two named female characters talking about something that isn't a man but I'm not satisfied with it since this scene lasted like one minute and Lady Salisbury could as well be just a random background lady (she isn't a proper character - yet at least). So no, I'm not counting it.
Episode 6:
- "El emperador es el cabeza de la familia" LA cabeza, it's LA cabeza
- They let Queen Claude speak! Only one line but well, at least she didn't just stand there in the background
- THE ARM WRESTLING SCENE OH MY GOD. Henry and Brandon's faces?? The high stakes ost that indicates that it was 100% meant to be a serious thing?? PEAK television. This show is a COMEDY and I love it, the Gregoryverse shows WISH they had a scene like that.
- Honestly so far my biggest surprise with this show is just how heavily they rely in portraying Henry and Anne as a mutual love match. So far I'd seen Henry becoming obsessed with Anne the second he laid eyes on her, but Anne either: only falling for him years into their "courtship", or never falling for him at all. This depiction of their relationship is certainly a choice.
- My fav thing this episode? The use of Thomas Wyatt's poems.
- Once again, time for the Bechdel test: only two interactions between women, namely Catherine and Anne. They only talk about Henry.
I watched these two episodes back to back and they really felt like the same episode (hence the fact that I barely commented on ep 6, I felt I had already said it all). The focus is mainly on the end of Wolsey's rising star and the beginning of Anne's, as she goes from "potential mistress" to "wife material" in Henry's eyes. Charles Brandon is back in favor after the funniest scene in the entire show, and Catherine continues to plot with the Spanish ambassadors. These were solid episodes, but not too memorable. 7/10.
I didn't live comment episode 7 but so far I think this is the BEST episode of the show: the sweating sickness episode! First of all, because I'm fascinated with the fact that this whole highly contagious disease existed for like a century and we just have no idea what it was. Insanity. But second of all, because I think it actually managed to be emotional and make you feel that the stakes were high. Maybe is just that I lived through a pandemic and now these storylines hit close home, idk, I just thought it was a well written episode. Also, I loved that they showed Henry's fear of disease, so far in all the Tudor media I've seen that never pop out. That scene in which Henry shows off all the remedies he has for different illness like if he was a salesman? Hilarious. 7.5/10, really good episode.
Oh, and we still don't pass the Bechdel test because only one time two women talked to each other: Anne when consoling her sick maid. I liked it that it showed Anne being compassionate and kind, however that maid had never appeared before and was dead by the next scene so no, she wasn't a proper character, and therefore no, it doesn't count.
