LIVENESS
1. ELEMENTS THAT MAKE A LIVE PERFORMANCE.
“its all about a risk that needs to be taken. Here the stage is the risk”. There are many ways to view art forms. In terms of Drama, you can view them on Television, on Streaming platforms, in the cinema and of course on stage. The one thing that a live performance has that the others don’t, is the risk. You can cut, re-take and edit a film, which is perfectly fine, thats the art form and that’s how filmmakers produce their best work, but on stage, you only get one shot. You need to be able to consistently convey those emotions and remember each movement and line. As an audience member you are subconsciously aware of these risks. it keeps you entertained and keeps you immersed. Anything could happen,
Australian Playwright Allison Crogan proposes that theatre, with its emphasis on the here and now is a profoundly local and humanising force in our increasingly depersonalised global economy”
The modern era is dominated by screen, its what most people view the arts on. Whether s the tiny screen of your phone or the big screen of the cinema, digital arts is by far the most popular form. Whether its Netflix or Amazon, masses are able to access every popular film and TV Show at their fingertips. Exclusivity does no longer mean what it used too. Instead of a couple thousand people being able to see the performance, its a few million. This is why sometimes the arts are taken for granted. They're so accessible now, which is great for exposure for actors, directors etc. But for the art,  long term, its being killed by capitalism. A small play that has a great significance to its local surroundings that is live in a small theatre can really connect with an audience. By sharing with a small amount of people, it feels more personal. the audience can better connect in closer proximity, gaging the actors energy and presence within the same room as them. This is something that film and other media cannot and will never be able to replicate, thus showing the importance of Live, immersive theatre.
2. RHIANNABOI
I feel like Tannahill’s reason for putting Rhiannaboi online is based on the character of Rhiannaboi. I feel as though listening to this one person speak their mind like this would not be suited to a stage environment. The play is very dialogue dependant. Its not visually stimulating. Rhiannaboi’s character is quite introverted too, he is isolated, all alone in his bedroom. This mirrors us as viewers. We share his isolation of watching alone on our screen. It feels personal. I felt completely invested in his stories. I It was just me and him face to face for 40 minutes. I think that for those reasons Tannahill’s decision to make this an online play worked very well.
3.  MOMENTS IN RHIANNABOI.
There was a moment in Rhiannaboi where he plays the song “The Only Girl In The World”. The lyrics of the song showed perfectly how Rhiannaboi was feeling within that moment. He talks of feeling like the only person in the world when driving in the car with his professor, flying above the streets. Although this technique would probably not be suited for the in class monologues i thought it was poignant and worth mentioning. Another thing I liked about the piece was the informality of it. Its very informal and relaxed. Its as though we’ve known Rhiannaboi for years and he knows us too and trusts us. This definitely helped, with my immersion. It made me relax and. listen to whatever he had to say. It was as if two friends were having a conversation I’d love to see what affect this approach would have on the monologue I have chosen.

Send a Review!!
The first round of books was eliminated and I wanted some help talking about the book eliminated. There are so many amazing books that unfortunately were cut but still deserve their time to shine. I was hoping I could share people's reviews of the books eliminated, as I have not read them all.
I was hoping people would send asks with reviews or send me a review they had previously written to reblog. I'll post ones for the books I have read over the next week!
Not all reviews need to be glowing reviews, but if you didn't enjoy some of the books, also please feel free to send a review explaining why as well!
I'll use the tags of the eliminated works as well as "book reviews"
