It never fazed Jesse how he got into this predicament in life, call it karma, but it’s not easy to hear that your wife shot herself, killing along with herself the unborn child. When he heard he was devasted. All these years everything went smoothly; his wife thinking he was all on business trips, and at some point, he will come home to her. Not really how he predicted his future to be.

Jesse wasn’t one man to view him as a father, the thought was scary even to the 6′7 killer, but that was the gift of life: Spending the rest of your life with your loved one who will at some point give you a child.

He was taking a walk into the park in Jacksonville, he needed to get out more because staying all days inside his homemade Jesse a little more anxious than normal, plus he needed to continue with his ‘job’ and mourning over the death of his wife wouldn’t help. Its been two years and he should go on with life, but dating it’s tough when you have a disfigured face that women run away from.

He learned to walk in the outside world with his new face but been given all these looks of fear, disgust, and pity were making him want to slaughter the whole park.

His brown eye looked at the happy families, the dads taking their small children into their arms, spinning them around, laughing while their wifes giggled or took photos. He grimaced at the image, it was probably envied because God thought he didn’t deserve such a blessing. Not even his money could bring him this gift.

He remembers all the words his ex-potential lovers after his wife died.

‘Ughhh...Such an ugly piece of shit.’

‘How can I even kiss you? You make me puke.’

‘The child probably would look just like you.’

‘That face is turning me off.’

So different from what he used to be told when his face was all perfect.

Well, it looks like it’s true what they say; a pretty face can make wonders. Jesse was pulled out of his thoughts when a purple glitter covered ball landed in front of him at his feet. His gaze moved up and saw a little girl approach him. She had blonde hair in curly pigtails, rosy cheeks, wearing a white shirt with a unicorn, a pink tutu with colorful leggings, and purple sneakers with wings. She stopped in front of him, taking her ball.

“Wooow...Are you a giant?” she asked, her eyes widen as he took in his tall form. He couldn’t help but chuckle silently at her words. She didn’t look to be afraid or disgusted by his face, more like mesmerized.

That was a reason for why he didn’t go after kids; they were the perfect epitome of innocence, so honest and always speak their minds.

“Maddison! Come back here.” he heard a feminine voice speak from afar, his eyes looking from the small girl to a young woman running to them.

“I told you not to run away from me.” you said, crouching down to your daughter, then looking up at the tall man.

“Mommy! Is he a giant?” your daughter asked with curiosity, making you blush in embarrassment.

“Maddy! That’s not polite! I’m so sorry for her. She is always speaking what she thinks.” you apologized, standing up and looking at the mysterious man, your eyes taking in his scarred face, a little intimidating.

‘No harm is done. She’s just a child.’ Jesse signed out of instinct, sometimes he forgot people don’t know ASL.

Your eyes widened, seeing that he was mute.

“Still, I should apologize for her.” you said, signing at the same time, making him look shocked.

‘You know ASL?’

“Yes, my brother is deaf-mute and I had to learn.” you explained.

‘I’m Jesse.’ he signed.

“[Name].” you said, shaking hands with him. Your daughter looked curiously at you two.

“Mommy! Can we have ice cream?” she asked, jumping on her little feet, making you smile and nod, then she looked at Jesse.

“Do you want some? Mommy always said that I should apologize and ice cream is the best form to say sorry.” she spoke, looking up at Jesse with puppy eyes, making him a little nervous, but couldn’t say no to such a cute face.

She skipped to the ice cream booth of the park with you and Jesse following. He didn’t saw you with any man and wondered where her father and your husband is.

‘I hope her father won’t get any ideas.’ Jesse signed as you walked, making your eyes widen and sadden, looking down.

“Her father is dead.” you said, making his eye widen, knowing he opened a sensitive subject.

‘Sorry.’

“No, no. It’s fine. He died in a car accident three years ago. She’s a smart girl and understands.” you said.

Jesse understood you in a way, losing someone of importance to you, but your cases were a bit different; his wife killed herself because of him.

After you bought the ice cream you sat with Jesse on a bench eating the delicious dessert as your daughter playing with the kids not too far away from you two.

‘I’m only curious. Why?’ Jesse signed, looking at you. You raised an eyebrow, not quite catching on what he meant.

‘I mean. Why are you so nice? I’m not exactly the most prince charming here.’ he signed, motioning at his face, making your eyes widen.

“You mean the fact that something bad happened to you and you are a lucky soul that you survived?” you said, making the bald man even more curious.

“My father worked as a mechanic and he was also a lucky one. A car battery exploded and burned half of his face, neck, and chest.” you said, a sad sigh leaving your lips.

“We are all the same on the inside and some differences shouldn’t make us treat the ones bad.” you said, taking a lick of your ice cream.

Now that was a pleasant thing to hear. It’s not every day a woman is so accepting of the outside looks and a gorgeous one at that. You were gorgeous in Jesse’s eyes, the kind of woman he would take out to dinner, to a movie, to the point of sharing his bed with, and also life.

You two were looking at each other, not speaking at all or signing, but you felt his face get closer to yours, blush on your cheeks. Just a little bit more, until your daughter came running to you.

“Mommy! I’m hungry! Can we go and eat?” she asked with a pout, making you nod, ready to stand up, but...

“Oh oh! Can Jesse come to dinner too!” she asked, her hands wrapped around Jesse’s leg like a kid who found the best toy in the store and wanted it.

“W-Well, if he wants too. I cannot force him.” you said with a nervous smile, looking at Jesse.

‘I would love too.’ he signed, nodding at the smaller version of you. She jumped up and down in victory.

“Oh, mommy! Is he gonna be my new daddy?” she asked with curiosity, your eyes widening at her response and making you choke a little on your ice cream, a deep red blush on your face.

Jesse’s shoulders moved up and down in silent laughter, his hand coming on top of her head, ruffling her hair. He pulled out his phone writing a message for her.

‘That depends on your mother.’

She looked at you with begging eyes.

“Come on, mommy! Please, please. Can we keep him?”

Alright, maybe not exactly how you wanted the first date with a potential new husband to be, but in Jesse’s eye this was priceless.

‘Jackpot.’ he thought with an internal smirk.

The mild mysoginy is only the cherry on top but all the random-ass nonsense lines that are just there to sound cool is perfect for Harry just. Saying shit and seeing if it sticks. Also the song bops so it’s here. Is this not the most perfect song for the absolute insanity of mr. Du Bois? First, the catchy fucking tempo, let us enjoy how splendidly jaunty it is. Amazing. Okay so for one it’s pretty clingy as a romance song so it’s already perfect. We’re choosing to ignore it’s sung to a woman shhhh but look, okay. “I can no longer get close to your mouth/Without desiring you in a crazy way” is one of my favorite love song lines ever because I’m that brand of idiot but LUCKILY SO IS HARRY DU FUCKING BOIS OKAY so it makes me think of… devastatingly cool smoking Kim. I laughed a lot at the way “Day and night, guessing when you’ll arrive” paralleled a lot of my friends’ testimonies of getting really bummed out that Kim left with the body and they couldn’t hang out with him anymore. Also the sort of desperate air of “I have so few roads left/And although it may seem like a folly to you/I would not want to die without having something with you” also pings really nicely with Harry’s state of mind and inexperience and the assumed (reasonable lol) reaction that Kim might have at figuring out about this very unstable man’s pining after him. I almost had a different version of this song but despite the cheesiness of this rendition I like the way the ending lines devolve into… even more desperation. You go to therapy Harry, maybe you’ll get to smooch Kim if that works out…

Okay so the final dream kicked me in the emotional nuts and this is such a fucking fitting song. I mean, the phonecall had already killed me pretty hard, and the idea of Dora’s voice being so stuck in Harry’s mind that he can immediately react is… it’s a lot. I like the lip imagery here too bc I’m a slut for parallels between Kim and Dora, sue me. The self-flagellation and repetition and just… “ I know what you’re feeling but I don’t care I’m feeling this about it” is so very fitting for the two of them… I just think about it a lot…

King of Prism Road to Shiny Seven Stars 1 Main Story translation

I, Shin Ichijo, am a 1st year in senior high!! I’m going to the entrance ceremony!!!

Translator’s notes: Road to Shiny Seven Stars was a series of events on the Prism Rush game covering the gap in the King of Prism timeline from after Pride the Hero and before the SSS anime.

So if you read my posts when this event was actually in progress, you may remember some additional stuff happening. Like details of where Taiga was before and after the entrance ceremony, and Louis flirting with Shin at the photo shoot while Leo got jealous, etc. Well that’s because that stuff did happen. But all that and more happened exclusively in the card stories. I will be translating some of the card stories but not all for every event. There will be a link at the end to any card stories I have translated so far.

(On the morning of the Kakyoin Academy Senior High Division entrance ceremony.)

Leo: Shin-kun! Please hurry up!

Shin: O-okay! Here I come...

H... How do I look?

Leo: Wooow! The senior high red blazer! It really changes up your image! ♪ Your new uniform looks so good on you!

Kakeru: Yeah, it’s no different than before. Ah! Could it be... You break-danced too hard in your new school uniform and ripped it to shreds already?

Taiga: You idiot. Of course not.

Shin: Taiga-kun, you’re going to wear the same uniform to senior high school?

Shin: Huh??

Yu: ??? What are you so mad about all of a sudden....

Yukinojo: I think he’s trying to tell us that something is different.

Leo: Taiga-kun certainly has his own way of doing things, doesn’t he.

Hijiri: It’s a good thing. I’d like them to learn to fly with their own wings... Shin and Taiga were able to enter senior high, and the others successfully moved up a grade as well.

Yamada: ….By the way, how did Taiga’s exams go?

Hijiri: …Ha ha… Well, it’s over now. Let’s not discuss that anymore.

Yamada: …..I’ll buy you a drink later.

Hijiri: Anyway, it’s a wonderful morning. A morning of new beginnings. Let’s pray the roads they will embark upon be as sunny as this beautiful day.

Yamada: Yes, let’s. As long as they can enjoy what they’re doing, that’s all I’d ask for.

Hijiri: Yes. And thanks to them Edel Rose has made remarkable progress. I have high hopes for their future.

Minato: What are you all doing here so early in the morning?

Kakeru: And isn’t today your university entrance ceremony...?

Hiro: Yeah. But the starting time for our university entrance ceremony is a bit later.

Kazuki: We all thought, “We want to see our beloved underclassmen off on their fresh new day!” And then BAM! All of a sudden we were wide awake.

Hiro: So let us say it one more time. Shin, Taiga, congrats on becoming senior high schoolers!

Leo: Since everyone was able to successfully move up a grade and/or get into their new school, wouldn’t it be great to have a party to celebrate the new school year?

Shin: Oh wow! That would be great!

Leo: We could eat dinner and snacks in the dining hall and all share our goals for the semester!

Shin: Yeah! Yeah that sounds fun!

Minato: Eheh. In that case I’ll take care of the catering.

Kouji: I’ll help too, Minato. Two sets of hands in the kitchen would be better than one, right?

Minato: But you should be one of our guests of honor to celebrate your entrance into university. I’ll be alright on my own this time...

Hiro: Oh come on. We may be starting university, but all of you are starting new years in school as well. It’s like we’re all moving onto a “new stage” together. So I think we should celebrate equally, no?

Kouji: Hiro is right. Everyone is a guest of honor this time. How about that?

Kazuki: A new stage... It sounds so exciting when you put it that way!

Yukinojo: Yes, it seems like that is the case. We may be able to work around your schedules, but...

Minato: We should probably wait until things have settled down to have a party though. Kouji and the others will be busy with getting settled in to university for a while.

Kazuki: I guess you’re right. We have to go through an orientation program and pick out our classes and stuff...

Kouji: For the first two weeks they really press a lot of stuff on us.

Shin: I see.... that’s rough....

Hiro: Well, just that’s how life is. All of you will go through changes little by little as well.

Shin: Things will… change….

Hiro: Yes. However, change isn’t always a bad thing.

I think it’s necessary for things to change in order for us to grow. You’re all starting a new chapter of your lives. For example, from now on you’ll get all sorts of new job offers… But as you embrace these changes, I think you’ll find so much potential for good things is waiting for you.

Kouji: Hiro is right. And the more things do change, I think you’ll also be able to see how much certain things will stay the same.

Hiro: Exactly. For example… No matter what happens, what will never change is that Edel Rose here will always be our “home”!

Shin: Hiro-san.... You’re right! Thinking about all these changes still makes me a little sad... but change is a good thing, isn’t it?

Hiro: Of course!

Kazuki: There will still be lots of chances for us all to get together. As long as we want to make it happen, it will! Right now what we should be doing is encouraging each other to challenge new things!

Shin: Kazuki-san... Okay!

Shin: Nope, that’s no good! It’s your entrance ceremony! We’re going right now!!

Taiga: Okay, okay I heard you! I’m going already so stop pulling me so hard….

Minato: Everyone, Kougami is a senior high school student now. Surely we have nothing to worry about. Now, we should get going too.

Principal: And.... so... as I was saying, as all of you gradually begin to embody our school traditions.....

Male student 2: He’s late for his own entrance ceremony… He really is a rebel, just like the rumors said.

Shin: (Huh… Taiga-kun?!)

Taiga: ……

Shin: (It really is him! But how? We left the dorm at the same time… Even though we got separated at some point, we weren’t all that far from the school the last time I saw him.)

Teacher: So you’re Kougami, huh!? So this is how you’re starting off the school year... I’ve heard all about you!

Taiga: ....*sigh*.....

Teacher: Don’t you get an attitude with me!

Shin: (Ahh! Ahh! And he’s on the teacher’s bad side already! W.. What should I do… Should I step in and try to help him out….)

Taiga: I told you! I don’t need a reason to be late!

Teacher: To have the audacity to show up to your own entrance ceremony with no reason! Who do you think you are....

Taiga: ...If I don’t have a reason I don’t have one...

Shin: (I was really worried for a while. But I’m glad Taiga-kun and I both get to be at our entrance ceremony together.)
