Isaac Lahey - “Ouch”

Imagine idea - Isaac Lahey taking care of the reader after they dislocated their knee. Werewolf!Isaac/Reader (Idk how to write those lmao)

This was inspired by my very recent injury - I dislocated my left knee cap and my darling bf was a real champ! So this is loosely inspired by that event but mostly because I miss Isaac. So enjoy! This story is set in a pretty calm time in Beacon Hills and the reader skateboards.

I invited Isaac to the skatepark, it was my second home and I wanted to show off a little. We had only been dating for a few weeks, so why not?

“Hey baby,” He called, jogging over to me. His leather jacket accented his broad shoulders and I had to maintain my composure. Damn, he looked good.

“Hey Isaac,”I purred, “I like this,” I tugged on his jacket, playfully. He smiled down at me before placing a single kiss on my lips.

“C’mon, I’ll show you around,” I took his hand in mine and pulled him over to the “Pit”, it’s an affectionate nickname. It was a huge bowl in the earth, filled with concrete and surrounded by a variety of ramps and rails. The sound of wheels scraping concrete permeated the warm summer air. The park always made me smile. Isaac on the other hand, looked terrified... well as terrified as I’ve ever seen him. He’s been through hell and back for Scott’s pack and a human skatepark seemed to scare him more.

I giggled, “You good, Lahey? Cat got your tongue?” His expression only made me laugh harder.

Patting his chest I whispered, “It’s not as scary as it looks, promise.” His eyes lit up at the subtle challenge.

“Don’t worry y/n. I’ll leave you in the dust.”

As I’m sure anyone could guess, his lack of practice didn’t hold him back for long. Damn werewolf abilities. He wasn’t graceful per se... but he picked it up too fast in my opinion.

“Damnit Lahey,” The few girls that frequented the skatepark couldn't keep their eyeballs in their heads or the drool in their mouths.

I grabbed him by the collar, “Ok Isaac, quit being such a show off.” That stupid.. unbelievably attractive, but mostly stupid werewolf, just smirked at me!

“I love it when you’re mad.”

That was annoying. If he could stop looking so good and comfortable I would be more calm. I’ll show him. I walked off with my board tucked under my arm. I placed it down, taking off towards the pit. I had been skateboarding for three years! But right as I was about to plunge, I felt my knee twinge awkwardly. I rolled into the center, f***, my knee. I look down and my FREAKING knee cap isn’t where it’s supposed to be. It hurts like hell and it looks so so bad.

“ISAAC!” I shout for him, “CALL MY MOM! NOW!” Everyone else stops skating completely, looking in my direction like I’m an animal at the zoo. Isaac runs into the put, and his eyes widen when he sees my knee.

“Damnit Isaac, don’t just stand there! Get my phone,” He fumbles for a moment, pulling it out of his pocket. He hands the device to me, I shakily dial my mom.

“Mom, I’ve dislocated my knee...” I’m choking up, crap this hurts. “Please come get me.” She tries to comfort me and assures that she’s on her way before hanging up. Isaac kneels down to sit next to me, helping me sit up so I can lean against him. He holds my hand, trying his best to comfort me too.

“It looks bad, baby, real bad.”

“I know y/n, but it’s gonna be ok. Your mom is coming and I’m right here.”

A few adults from the skatepark rush over, two men and a woman. They shoo everyone out of the way and sit or kneel around me. The blonde man, Ryan, owns the skatepark, the dark haired one, Alex, runs the skate shop, and the woman, Martha, does youth group for the church nearby. I’m shaking, my knee looks terrible and hurts more. Ryan and Alex try to distract me while the woman quietly freaks out. It sort of works…

Thankfully, my mom arrives quickly. She tells Isaac to pick me up, being careful not to let my knee move. The moment she arrives I burst into tears. All of my composure comes crashing down. Isaac holds me close, pressing gentle kisses to the top of my head before picking me up. I hiss in pain.

I mumble, “What a shit show this is,”

He chuckles, “don’t worry, it will be ok.”

“Are we looking at the same knee???” I scoff.

He chuckles, placing me gently in the backseat of his car. My mom rides to the ER in her car while Isaac drives me. This drive is about 10 minutes but it feels like years today.

The wait was long, and moving my knee back in place hurt like hell. But when Isaac held my hand I could see the dark veins pulling the pain out of my body, and he would just smile at me.

A few hours later

“Ok mom, yea I’ll see you later. Bye momma, I love you.”

I hang up the phone, turning to look at Isaac. His beautiful eyes are sad and his brow is furrowed.

“What’s wrong, Isaac?”

He wraps me up in his arms, sighing into my neck. “I just hate it when you’re hurting. It’s the worst.”

“Aww baby, I’m ok I swear.”

“I know.. but I just hate it. I love you so damn much and-“

I cut him off, “did you say you love me?”

His face reddens, “Uhm… would you be mad if I did?”

I smile, snuggling into him more. “No, I’d actually like it.”

He kisses the top of my head, “Well then,” I can feel him smirking, “I love you, y/n.”

“I love you too Isaac .”

He chuckles, “I even love you when you do dumb shit and hurt yourself.”

I slap him playfully, “Listen here, Lahey! Not all of are graceful little werewolves with magical healing!”

“Did you call me little??”

“Yes I did!”

“Oh babe, you’re gonna get it for that!”

How a Newly Opened, Queer-Owned Indoor Skatepark Survived the Pandemic – Blogtown

AJ Waters discovered skateboarding as a 12-year-old living in rural Illinois, after discovering the X Games on tv.

“I saw it and was just like, ‘That is amazing, and I am obsessed,’” Waters informs the Mercury on a current Wednesday early morning while resting on a sofa at Stronger Skatepark, the indoor skatepark they own in Milwaukie, prior to business opened for the day. Stacks of vibrantly colored skateboards, pads, and helmets hold on the wall behind them.

“I was completely hooked—it became my entire life for years,” Waters continues, their voice echoing in the big, airy area. “That was all I wanted to do.”

Waters opened Stronger Skatepark in April of 2019, with the “desire to make a space that felt more welcoming to everyone on the outskirts of skateboarding, because I had been that way.”

“I was assigned female at birth, so everyone saw me as someone different, and I wasn’t always included,” includes Waters, who transitioned as a grownup. “I had to make my own space. No one was doing it for me.”

Less than a year after opening, Stronger Skatepark was required to close down due to the fact that of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, the skatepark stays in organization—it commemorated its two-year anniversary last weekend—and is poised to broaden. Waters credits the park’s survival to neighborhood assistance, and a group of hardworking staff members, consisting of basic supervisor Jamie Brown.

“We made it through by the skin of our teeth and some debt,” Waters states, “but we made it.”

But the pandemic was barely the very first obstacle Waters experienced in opening and running the skatepark.

“It’s truly relaxing to have the asphalt vibrating, and wheels going back and forth on a half-pipe. I would get up and yearn for that—I needed to go outdoors and roll around.”

Waters relocated to Portland in 2012, long after the Illinois skateboarding scene they’d enjoyed as a kid had actually torn into absolutely nothing. Waters had actually imagined owning a skatepark and skateboard store as a kid. It’s really calming to have the asphalt vibrating, and wheels going back and forth on a half-pipe. I would wake up and crave that—I had to go outside and roll around.”

After opening, the skatepark brought in a great deal of households with kids, young people, and teenagers who would purchase day passes throughout the weekend and can be found in and out of the store in packs, delegating get pizza and ice cream prior to returning for more skating. But even as Waters began to discover success with business, they still had something nagging at them: They understood they were transgender not long after opening the skatepark, and invested the majority of the very first year it was open still midway in the closet.

“I resembled, ‘Holy shit, now what?” Waters remembers. “‘I just met thousands of people and told them this is a woman-owned skatepark, and my name is this, and now I have to do that all again, but come out as trans? I can’t do that.’”

Waters lastly came out in a video published to Stronger Skatepark’s social networks pages, and felt relief when they began hearing their and pronouns at work.

“I spent months sitting here feeling like I was playing two parts,” they state. “Now I’m on the other side, I’m out at least, and it’s much easier than the first year that we were open.”

“That second closure was so much harder than the first.”

All appeared to be working out when the skatepark closed for a couple days in early March 2020 to include some enhancements to its skate ramps. But then the COVID-19 pandemic concerned Oregon, and what was expected to be a two-day closure wound up enduring a number of months. The park’s 1 year anniversary celebration was hung on Zoom.

The closure hit Stronger Skatepark hard, however it skated by on money contributions from clients, organization grants, and a flourishing need for skating product as Oregonians relied on outside activities as a pandemic-safe leisure activity.

“For most of April and May [last year], I was driving all over Portland doing deliveries,” Waters states. “The sales for sporting goods were way up, and I had sporting goods.”

The park resumed in June as Oregon COVID cases decreased last summertime, however then was required to shutter once again in November when the winter season spike started. What Governor Kate Brown initially framed as a two-week “pause” for companies wound up lasting up until January in the Portland location. There wasn’t as much grant financing for companies throughout that 2nd closure, and having a hard time neighborhood members weren’t as able to assist support regional areas like Stronger Skatepark.

“That second closure was so much harder than the first,” Waters states. “The state was just like, ‘Hey, time to close again.’ I also want to be safe and I think that was the right choice, but it was so hard because the community just didn’t come out and give us money the second time we closed, and [the grants weren’t there.]”

But business made it through, and opened back up in January with COVID-safe procedure it’s still utilizing: A stringent mask policy, and just 10 skaters allowed throughout each two-hour-long session.

“At the outdoor skateparks, most people aren’t wearing masks,” Waters states. “We’re trying to be as safe as we can, and people definitely appreciate that.”

The lease just recently appeared for the area next-door to Stronger Skatepark, and Waters leapt at the possibility to broaden their skating location. They’re likewise anticipating inviting kids to the park’s skateboarding day camps this summertime—continuing their objective to produce a skatepark where everybody feels welcome, and knowing is motivated.

A few weeks pass. Back with AJ and the group as they've set up an area a bit aways from Bing. To outsiders it would appear to be an area set up for bird watching as they've managed to spread a rumor that a rare bird had been sighted in the area. There are already normal tents set up in the area so even if they are seen, they don't stick out. As the others set up, Frank comes in not only with a box of strange devices but following him seems to be a dog.

AJ looks in confusion before speaking.

"A dog?"

Frank smiles as he places the box down.

"Right. You've never met him. AJ, meet Ruffus!"

Ruffus barks happily before sitting down. AJ goes to pet him smiling.

"Nice to meet you Ruffus"

Katy smiles.

"I see we need Ruffus' help again with a mission?"

AJ looks confused.

"Ruffus' help?"

Frank goes through the box as he speaks.

"Ruffus there is one of a few hunter trained dogs. They help with missions where it's not safe to have more than one human"

He pulls out a device from the box now. AJ looks at it.

"What's that?"

"A frequency meter. You see, normally we have devices set up already to use to listen in on vampires but Bing is a special case. We need to find a frequency he can't hear or detect which is where you and Ruffus come in"

AJ seems startled by this.

"Me?"

"Yes you. Marcus can't go near Bing and he's already seen me and Katy so you have to be the one to do this"

Katy seems nervous and whispers to Frank.

"Are you sure about this? What if he..."

Frank shakes his head, whispering back.

"Too many people, even if it's both him and Yancy there. Doubt either will risk a hunt"

He looks back at AJ.

"It's simple. Ruffus is going to act like a dog that got away from you while chewing on this. I'll be playing with the frequency from here and you take mental notes what Bing is reacting to. Once we test them all, give Ruffus the code words "Now give that back" and he'll shatter the device in his jaw so Bing can't figure out what it is"

He hands her the device.

"If it becomes too much though. Say the code words "I think I should go" and Ruffus will bark wildly. Either giving you both the chance to leave or giving us the chance to go over to help you"

He pats AJ's shoulder now.

"I know you got this. Just take some deep breaths and you'll be fine"

AJ nods a bit nervously, taking some deep breaths now.

Meanwhile Bing is at the skatepark with Yancy. Bing is testing out some new tricks when both hear a very elevated heartbeat coming their direction, along with someone calling out "Ruffus, come back!". Both turn to see AJ running after Ruffus who has something in his mouth.

"Whoa, whoa, pup!" Bing skates in the way and tries to snatch Ruffus up.
