Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild Quilter’s Picnic -Airing of the Quilts
28 April 2018, Saturday 10am - 2pm
Mark it in your diary now, as you don’t want to miss out on the chance to air those quilts sitting sadly in the cupboard! Or if you have proudly gifted all your quilts, go and take them back for the day so that they can hang with their friends and flap in the breeze…
So that you get the idea, below are the quilts from Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild’s 2014 Quilters Picnic.
This year we are gathering at the Towri Centre at the Towri Bushtucker Garden, located at the Wollongong Botanic Gardens from 10am until 2 pm on Saturday 28th April.
There is on-street parking on Northfields Avenue, or on-street and carpark parking from the main entrance on Murphys Avenue, Keiraville.
The Towri Centre is a great facility with a small kitchenette featuring a fridge/freezer, oven, microwave and wall urn fro our use. There is a large carpeted room, as well as an oversized wrap-around covered verandah with tables and chairs. We will string up some ropes to hang quilts between the posts on the verandah and also drape quilts on the verandah’s hand rails. We will have shelter from wind, rain and sun, so the event will take place in all weather. The building also has toilets and disabled access.
In true Wollongong MQG style, make sure to bring a plate of something scrumptious for all to share for the picnic.
This is a family event, so partners, kids and grandkids are all welcome to come along and join in the fun as we “Air the Quilts” for 2018.
