this is genuinely one of the sweetest things I’ve ever read and I love max f so much so I’m GLADDDF people are eating 3 AM up — I had so much fun writing it

Rachel Daly x Millie Bright x Reader
No Fan of Ours
AN: to celebrate meeting @ac3may at the fa cup final next year, here’s a fic we brainstormed together months ago 🫶
It was the last England game before the girls left for the World Cup, the tie v Sweden was only announced a few days ago but the stadium was packed out with adoring fans nonetheless. In the lead up to the game your girlfriends had gifted you a shirt with ‘Daly Brightness’ on the back so you wouldn’t have to chose who’s name to wear at England games anymore. It wasn’t a secret that you three were dating but it certainly wasn’t shouted from the rooftops as you didn’t want to attract the wrong attention. Being with them both happened organically, Rachel and Millie were inseparable anyway - what started out as a flirtationship with one of them soon boiled over into the other and just like that you became a throuple. You didn’t announce it as such but their teammates could tell, always making jokes about you three being together all the time. You’d never heard a bad word from any of them about your relationship and everyone online believed you were just three best friends anyway.
You first met them at grass roots but football wasn’t your number one passion and as they went on to become professionals, you left the turf and cleats behind for more glamorous surroundings in a luxurious London tattoo parlour specifically designed by you for women. The passion of yours was born one evening when getting an upper thigh tattoo and being inappropriately touched during the process. The tattoo went on to be unfinished for nearly a decade until you were able to build your own franchise with the primary value of it being a safe environment for women. You took something awful and made it inspiring, people traveled far and wide to visit your parlour, your customers consisted of many female footballers who quickly spread the word around their clubs. They even donate their signed shirts to hang on your ‘Empowerment Wall of Fame’ for every celebrity that has visited. You’ve now got parlours up and down the country and are currently building to break into the rest of the world too.
That’s when Rach and Millie came back into your life, having heard about their old acquaintance’s new venture through friends they decided to pay you a visit for their newest matching tattoos and have had the pleasure of tattooing the both of them since. With every visit to the shop the more flirtatious your conversations became and it didn’t take long for your connection to develop beyond the workplace. Your relationship has been going strong for three years now and what started out as a fling was now something solid and for the long haul.
As this game was announced last minute, your friends and family couldn’t make it so you were sat alone for the first time at a national game. Nothing you haven’t done before but it’s usually at Villa games where the stadiums are anything but packed. Chelsea games were undoubtedly more busy but there seemed to always be a player injured or someone’s family to chat to during the matches.
The girls had just finished warm ups and had retreated back to the changing rooms. Playing on your phone and waiting for kick off you heard sneering comments coming from a group behind you, “oh my god look at her shirt, how pathetic”. These comments didn’t let up throughout the game as the group of girls mocked you continuously throughout the 90 minutes. The first half was insatiable, you’d been singing along with the crowd and shouting to the girls as usual, they were taking the piss out of everything you did making you incredibly uncomfortable. “What a joke, as if anyone would fancy her” their comments started to get louder. “Fucking embarrassing fans put this game to shame!” the loudest mouth of the gang shouted. During half time it only got worse, you wanted to go to the toilet but they had made you feel so small that you didn’t dare move. Of course you wanted to tell them to shut up but you’re not a big fan of conflict and would rather not give them the satisfaction of knowing they were getting to you. You’re used to people staring and making sly comments, you accepted that they were closed minded people and like to make digs at anyone that looks different. There was barely any space on your body for new inkings and you liked how they made you look tough but on inside you were just a soppy little woman that wanted to be loved and cared for. Clocking the wallpaper on your phone of Rach and Mills as you checked the time caused them to erupt into laughter, “they will never love you, what a munter!” they heckled. “She doesn’t even have any friends” throwing something in your direction. You continued to ignore the abuse that was being slung in your direction, just half hour more to go as you slipped your earphones in so you were unable to hear them any longer. As much as every comment tore you down little by little, it didn’t stop you from being yourself, singing and shouting for your team and the girls when required.
The ball went out of play close by to where you were and noticing Millie smiling at you as she jogged over to take the throw in made you feel a sense of comfort. Luckily she found herself in earshot of the disgusting comments being aimed your way. Pausing the throw in to display an intense and penetrative glare at the group with those gorgeous but intimidating eyes of hers. It shut them up for a second until play continued and she was gone. Her simple gesture made you feel at ease, as least she’d heard what you were up against and the second one of Sweden’s players went down you knew she was telling Rachel everything. With their hands covering their mouths, the side eye they were both throwing although incredibly sexy to you, had the capability of inflicting injury or bad karma on the person or people it was directed.
As soon as the final whistle blew Rachel and Millie came running over, ignoring the handshakes so they could get to you quicker. The group of teenagers immediately ran down the stairs when their idols approached, pushing you out of their way while declaring their love for both of them with their sickly sweet remarks like butter wouldn’t melt. Shoving phones and pens in their faces begging for photos and signatures which they declined politely yet with a sense of agitation. Rachel ignored their pleas and asked them calmly to move so she could get to you but they didn’t listen causing Millie to get impatient and raise her voice. “Move out the fucking way now!” she demanded as they wrapped one arm each around your petite body and lifted you over the barrier in one swift movement, resting their arms around your shoulders displaying their protectiveness of you. “Are you okay?” they fussed, straightening your T-shirt and brushing your hair back, holding your cheeks to analyse the emotions on your face. Once established you were fine now your princesses in shining armour had arrived they turned their attention back to the feral behaviour in the stands. “The way you’ve been talking about our girlfriend this entire game is fucking disgusting!” Rach shouted towards them as security approached. “Don’t expect to be at any of our games again!” Millie bellowed. You’d got the last laugh, thank goodness they had recognised they were giving you a hard time. The group were gobsmasked when they swooped you out of their toxic environment and had suddenly realised they had truly fucked up. “What were you saying about them never being in love with me? This came out of their wardrobe this morning” you remarked smugly tugging on your shirt. “Your attitudes are fucking disgusting” they shouted back to them as they lead you off the pitch. Telling security to ban them from all future national and WSL games before walking you off the pitch hand in hand. That’s one way to come out! They knew full well that the live stream was being aired to thousands of people at home and they still came to protect you. Announcing to the world that you three were an item at the same time.

Knocked Down & Locked In
Prompt: Something where they’re both footballers and one of them is being extra clingy/needy and their teammates keeping teasing them? Maybe one of thems not feeling good, or perhaps it’s their anniversary - @ac3may
“Happy anniversary baby!” Millie jump scared you, wrapping her arms around your shoulders from behind and pulling you into her, planting multiple kisses on your neck making you squirm. “Baaaabe, people are watching” your voice whiny as you tried to wiggle away from her grasp which only tightened. “So what? It’s our anniversary, don’t I get to love you today?” she said still hanging off your back, enveloping you into her warmth and affection as you walked around the pitch. “I thought you didn’t like PDA?” you questioned as she balanced her chin on the top of your head with her arms now around your waist. Walking in time with each other’s steps so you didn’t stumble over one another. “Today’s special though, we’re in the city of luuurve” she said before plastering you with kisses again. “We’re not in Paris yet silly” spinning round to face her and seeing her floppy bun coming loose. “Turn around, let me do this for you” you said as she knelt down on the floor so you could reach to pull the hairband out of her hair. Wrapping her blonde strands around your fist to form her iconic messy bun - everyone knows Millie’s signature look but nobody knows it’s you that does it for her before every game; that’s why she never makes videos on how to do it, no matter how many people request it.
You’re playing Lyon today in the first leg of the Champions League semi final and then going out for your anniversary dinner. You and your girlfriend of three years play for Chelsea and got together shortly after you joined the team from Man U a few years ago. Millie had set her sights on you the minute you stepped foot into Kingsmeadow and wouldn’t stop until she got you. She was the perfect woman - gracious, kind, caring, fucking hilarious and always kept you on your toes. You needed more excitement in your life and Chelsea with Millie certainly bought it.
Finishing your walk around the pitch for inspection ahead of kick off, Millie bent down gesturing for you to jump on her back as she piggybacked you towards the tunnel. Your teammates were quick to meet you with sarcastic comments as you entered the changing room, everyone had noticed how Millie had been extremely clingy all day - more so than usual!
“You two are gonna be classed as one player soon, you’ve been stuck together all day!” Sophie laughed as she whacked you with her towel.
“Ye twa make me feel seck!” your wee Scottish friend shouted from the other side of the room. Putting her finger near her mouth to act like she was about to puke.
“Yeah! Not everyone can have a bring your girlfriend to work day, stop rubbing our faces in it!” Sam sulked thinking of Kristie in America.
“They’re like this all the time at England camps too!” Jess chimed in with the rest of them. Millie still hadn’t let go of you, her arm still draped over your shoulders with pride. She loved being able to call you her girlfriend and she loved rubbing everyone’s faces in it even more.
“Stop guys, I think they’re cute!” Guro said nuzzling herself between you as your bodies moved apart to envelope her.
Warm ups completed, the stadium was filling up nicely, Millie had backed off a little but not completely. She was always by your side and it wasn’t a secret you two were dating but liked to keep it professional in front of the fans.
The game started off great, Chelsea had the upper hand the whole first half, Millie did what she did best and delivered you a beautiful long ball that you slotted into the net with ease. Running straight over and jumping into her arms to celebrate, what more could two footballers want for their anniversary than an assist and goal from each other? Lyon put in some great work towards the end of the first half but our team were strong and stuck together, we just had to hold on to half-time.
That’s when tragedy struck as out of the corner of your eye you spotted your girl wobble, looking over to check she was okay she gave you the thumbs up before going to run again, this time falling to the floor. Your heart thumped as the ball was passed to you, the ref didn’t blow her whistle so you kicked it out of play and sprinted to be by her side, the expression on her face told you she couldn’t go on. Your heart sank just thinking of those three dreaded letters that have taken out too many already and hoping this wasn’t the end of her season. Not with the World Cup coming up. This can’t be happening, not on your anniversary. Declining a stretcher you helped pull her up onto her good leg, walking every step off the pitch with her. You were in shock, you’ve just never thought of Millie as someone who could or ever would get injured - she was a force to be reckoned with, she was the glue of this team and without her, we became unstuck. Turning around to show her face trying to hold back tears, she pulled off the captains armband and slipped it onto your arm. “Do me proud (y/l/n)” she said solemnly before turning around and disappearing up the tunnel. Your heart shattered, you wanted nothing more than to be by her side but you had to focus on bringing the team to half-time.
When the whistle blew you couldn’t get off the grass fast enough, running down the tunnel pushing open every door just trying to catch a glimpse of her until you finally spotted your blondie on the medic bed, she was crying. Millie never cried so you knew it must be bad. You tried to get information out of them but seeing as she’d only just come off, there was nothing to be shared. The door opened behind you as Sam and Erin appeared to hurry you back for the team talk.
To take your mind off of Millie you did what you did best and made sure the team came through with a win, football enabled you to take your mind off anything, you could focus and be yourself - your whole self. That morning a distant memory of her wrapped around your shoulders, happy and carefree. You longed to go back to that moment, you were going to take her to Paris after the game and now all of that is ruined.
Clapping the travelling fans but not going all the way, you weren’t in the mood to act okay and all you wanted was to be on Millie’s lap and wrapped in her arms. You jogged off down the tunnel and into the medic room where your girl was still sat looking glum. You asked if she could stand or walk but with your questions came more tears, “I’m sorry (y/n/n)” she cried. “Hey prinny, you’ve got nothing to be sorry for” you said sitting next to her in the bed and wiping her tears away. “Enough of that, we can still go can’t we?” you were hopeful but not naive, you knew it was a long shot. “Why do you think I’m saying sorry?” she muttered as her head leant on your chest enabling hair stroking to commence. “We’ll get a wheelchair! I’ll push you! I need some extra strength in these arms!” you joked excitedly trying to raise a smile from her. “You… pushing me? Do I need to remind you how much shorter you are than me?” your plan had worked as her eyes glistened with the soft laughter coming from her mouth. The same height as Erin, you stood 6 inches shorter than your girlfriend. “I don’t care how small I am, I’ll push you around the world if I have to. Do you still wanna go if I can wing it?” Millie hummed a yes with a smile as her forehead pressed against yours. “I love you so much (y/n)” pressing your lips together before running out of the room to talk to Emma. You had to beg a little but eventually she gave in, as long as you’re on the plane in the morning, you can go. Running around frantically in search of a wheelchair you finally found one in an empty room, the medics helped her into it and out into the awaiting taxi.
Spending the evening in a restaurant directly underneath the Eiffel Tower, you thought about how this is the most romantic date you’d ever been on. Laughing and joking your way into the evening as you gazed lovingly into each others eyes from across the table. You had never been to Paris before but Millie had been plenty. “Are we going up there then?” you asked pointing towards the top of the tower. “With your fear of heights? I didn’t plan on it!” she laughed at you. “I’ve been working myself up to it, when will I ever do this again?” Finishing your desserts you wheeled her over to the lift, seeing people crammed inside you were worried they wouldn’t be able to accommodate the chair. Asking to have a quiet word with a worker they were able to clear a lift for you two only. Fear started to sink in as you reached halfway and Millie could sense it, reaching for your hand that was clinging to the handles of the chair. “Come here” she said gesturing for you to stand in front of her “just look at me” your face instantly breaking into a smile, it was impossible to be scared, sad or any other negative emotion when her cheeky little face was looking at you, she started cracking jokes until you reached the top. Wheeling her out onto the edge where you could see twinkling lights for miles under a blanket of darkness, it was beautiful. “Wow, I’m so glad I did this, it’s almost as beautiful as you” you sounded elated bending down to kiss her cheek. Parking the breaks on the chair and moving to stand next to her Millie looked up at you and patted her thigh, “have you forgotten why you’re in here in the first place?” you questioned her. “Hey, I have one good knee and you’re only tiny. Come here” holding your hand and pulling you towards her. Lowering yourself gently onto her good leg she wrapped her arm around your waist as your arm draped around her shoulders, your head fit perfectly under her chin “happy anniversary beautiful” she whispered and shared a kiss. “Thank you for making this happen” her head rested on your chest as you sat for what felt like hours staring out into the horizon. Learning forward to admire the locks attached to metal frame work, you watched her face light up as she read the names on them. Standing up to pull out of your pocket a lock engraved with your names and the year you both met and silently presenting it to her in your hand. A little gasp and a “aww” left her mouth as she took in her hands to admire, on the other side was the Chelsea logo for where you met. “Is this for here?” she asked with the softest eyes, slightly welling up at the cute gesture. “If you want it to be?” you proposed knowing that she’s spoken about wanting to do this countless of times before. Millie thought you were actually going to propose and seeing as you’ve never spoken about marriage you asked what she would have said. “Let me make this clear” she smiled as she tapped your legs to jump off her. Bringing the lock to her lips to kiss it then holding it for you to do the same she clicked it together onto the iconic building. “Perfect” she smiled as she wheeled herself back to admire it, “you’re stuck with me now!” she shouted, her loudness finding its way back to surface telling you she was already feeling happier.

Part Two: Dashed Hopes
AN: Shoutout to @yourwosogirly and @ac3may for helping me through the writers block this chapter gave me, ly 🧡
Turning up at camp and shuffling towards the building with your bags you couldn’t help but recognise the familiar blonde figure on the steps out front with her new beau. Too far across the car park to turn back without looking suspicious you had to keep walking, hoping to anything godly that neither would notice you. “Oh my god! (Y/n) is that you?” screeched the familiar voice of your ex best friend. Fuck. Time to put that Drama GCSE to good use! “Oh my god! Becky? I haven’t seen you in years!” you squealed in fake excitement as you pulled her in for a hug. “Wait.. you know each other?” Rachel seemed surprised yet extremely worried about the altercation that was happening in front of her. “Yeah we used to be besties, what happened to that?” Becky twirled her hair around her fingers as she pretended to forget why you fell out years ago. “You shagged our best mate’s boyfriend” you said bluntly, the fake smile wiped away and resting bitch face firmly back in her place. “And now you’re shagging my ex! Funny how things change aih.. unlike your clothes” tugging at the shirt hanging off of the brunette’s slim body. “Rach, you took my favourite shirt? I’ve been looking for this for weeks!” You knew exactly what you were doing but why the hell is she wearing your shirt? You wanted to rip it off her along with the extensions glued to her head. Unfortunately you have a reputation to uphold now and had to deal with things amicably, no matter how much you wanna hit her. “Wait, this is.. yours?!” Becky exclaimed disgusted at how she was wearing an ex’s shirt that she thought was her girlfriend’s. “Yeah.. Rach used to love me in this, didn’t you babe?” smiling sweetly and stroking Rachel’s arm, determined to wind them up as much as possible before you have to act professional until the end of August. Rachel visibly gulped as she scratched the back of her head which was her tell for when she was feeling awkward. “It’s sooo nice to see you both again, byeee!” Lies. Big fat lies. The extremely heavy sarcastic sweetness that rolled out of your mouth was undeniably two faced. You thought you’d be more hurt seeing them together but you kept your horoscope this morning at the forefront of your mind - you’ll be tested today but remember you’re better than them - couldn’t have been more true if it tried!
Strutting into the welcome meeting feeling like all the cards were in your hand, you were pleased to see some of your old friends again. There was a few you played with for England when you were younger and made your way over to sit with Georgia and Keira. Your overnight plane from America had only landed a few days ago and the jet lag was starting to catch up on you now - hoping Sarina’s talk would be quick so you could get some sleep. Your dreams of a few hours shut eye were quickly shattered, Sarina clearly hadn’t got the memo and bunked you up with none other than your ex. For fuck sake Sarina! Asking to have a quiet word with her after everyone left she said that if you found someone to swap with you could but was stern when she added “if you can’t work with her then we’re going to have to discuss your position on the team”. Brilliant. Get along with your run away bride or get kicked from the team, what an ultimatum. You’d been fighting to be recognised from over the pond for years, Rachel was gonna get a call up no matter where in the world she was but not you. You’d climbed the England ranks since 15 but knew moving to America would put your national career on the line. You were convinced you’d have made the senior team a lot sooner if you had stayed in the WSL.
Dragging your bags up to your room you stood with your hand on the door knob for some time before gathering up the courage to enter. You didn’t need to be nervous as the bags dumped on the bed told you Rachel had gone elsewhere. The luggage reminded you of how she would never unpack from travelling and it drove you insane. Busy sorting out your things you didn’t hear your ex enter until you came out of the bathroom. “Hey” she mumbled awkwardly as you both clocked each other. Moving your headphones to sit around your neck so you didn’t seem rude, “hi” you replied in a way that was unsure about how this was going to work. “I took this bed as I know you don’t like being next to the door but I can move if that’s changed” she said picking at her fingernails. You replied that you’re fine where you are and started listening to your music again while continuing to unpack. That was until your headphones died and threw them onto the bed disgruntled at how you’ve now got to listen to your ex breath the same air as you. Spending what felt like forever in silence until Rachel made the first move “I’ll get your shirt back to you” her voice somewhat perky like she was trying. There’s nothing you would want more, the way it was slightly faded and shrunk a little in the wash made it show your belly button. It was your old uni top and you loved how it reminded you of simpler times but your voice didn’t say that. “No it’s okay, it looks good on her” you shrugged, it wasn’t a lie per se but it wasn’t the whole truth - it deffo looks better on you and Rachel seemed to think so as well. “It looked good on you too” she said quietly looking over at you. Well you didn’t expect to hear that today! “Yeah it did, thats why it was my favourite” you hammered back with the same stiff eye contact she was giving you. “That’s why I kept it” she shrugged, “what to give to your next fiancée?”. Oops, that was meant to come out jokey but it deffo came out defensive and argumentative. “No, she wasn’t meant to find it” throwing her legs over the side of her bed and putting her face in her hands. “She tidied the house while I was out one day and found it, I couldn’t tell her it was yours. It still smelt of you and when I was sad I’d hold it. She washed it and put it on, I was so mad but I didn’t really have the right to be angry with her.” Rachel stood up from the bed “(y/n) I hate what I did to you, I just missed England so bad after the Euros, I needed to be with my family” she tried to win you over, to be honest the first part of her speech was quite cute but the last part hit a nerve. “I was your family too Rach, we were getting married! Do you know how humiliating that was for me? Calling all the suppliers, all of the guests, telling my family that my future wife had ran away? Just left me in a strange country you convinced me to move to!” your arms were flailing and your voice was raising. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it to turn out this way!” she pleaded but you had seen red. “Then what the fuck did you mean to happen? You didn’t talk to me, you just left! You kissed me and said you loved me, waited til I fell asleep then fucked off on the first plane out of Texas!” you yelled. “I’m not proud of my actions” she said approaching you from across the floor “(y/n) let me explain, please sit down” grabbing your hand and trying to guide you towards the bed but you were determined not to get pulled into her sob story and snatched your arm away. “Your time for explaining was the minute you thought about leaving, now get the fuck out my face!” Pushing past her to reach the door, maybe you should have taken the bed closer to it for a quicker escape.
Bursting into Millie and Mary’s room where some of the others had gathered, “eurgh!” you bellowed making your entrance known “someone swap with me! I can’t stay in that room with her!” pleading with your teammates. “(Y/n), you’re gonna have to get along with her for the sake of the team” Mary tried to reason with you. “I could do that a lot better by not bunking with her” begging the girls to swap rooms with you but they were all settled and didn’t want to move their stuff again. “Millie please, you’re her best friend why wouldn’t you wanna bunk with her? I’ll do your laundry until we leave” trying to bribe your ex’s best friend. “I think it’ll be good for you two to talk things over” she said taking you in for a hug. You sighed feeling defeated, “what’s there to talk about? She set up a transfer without telling me and waited until she could disappear in the night! I’d rather sleep on the pitch!” throwing yourself back onto her bed in frustration. “That’s not what she said went down” Millie said confused. “Well that’s exactly what happened!” you projected around the room. “She said you broke up with her after she moved?” Mary said quizzically. How did she think the truth wouldn’t come out? Why did she tell everyone I broke up with her? “That’s absolute bollocks, you believed that? You know I loved her more than anything! I would have come home too, I wouldn’t have moved there in the first place if it wasn’t for her!” curling yourself up into a ball as the tears started to run again. “Okay, I’ll swap alright but you still need to try and get on with her.” Millie turned empathetic and stroked your back giving you comfort.
Knocking on the door Rachel was surprised to see Millie standing there with her bags. “Why did you tell us (y/n) broke up with you?” pushing past her to get inside the room. Rachel couldn’t believe you’d got someone to swap with you and that the truth was out, rolling her eyes acting like you were the one being childish. “Can you blame her for swapping?” Millie’s arms folded, sticking up for injustice came easy to her. “It was just simpler, I didn’t think she’d be here” Rachel was pacing the floor trying desperately to figure out a way to wriggle out of the mess she had made. “You didn’t think she’d get called up so you thought you’d never have to see her again? She’s an amazing player Rach, you thought you could leave your old life behind and never get found out! I’m your best friend, why did you lie to me?” Millie’s voice was raised, she was protective of the first time campers especially ones that had been wronged by someone she holds so close. “Because I knew you’d hate me!” Rachel’s eyes started to fill up with tears as she felt interrogated. “I wouldn’t hate you Rach, I’m disappointed though! You just left in the middle of the night? She was gonna be your wife!” Millie was getting more and more irate with every word that was coming out of her best friend’s mouth. “I know! I’m sorry!” Rachel yelled across the room at her. “And who the fuck is this new bird? You do know Sarina told her she’s got to get on with you to stay on the team right? You’ve put her whole career in jeopardy and she’s a bigger person than I would be cause I would have knocked you out by now!”
“Look, I don’t need both of you yelling at me okay. I know what I did was shitty but I have my reasons, no one will let me explain!” she pleaded to have her side heard. As much as Millie didn’t want to give Rachel the time of day, she was inquisitive of why she did what she did. The defender threw herself onto the bed and patted the mattress beside her for Rach to scooch in. No matter how much she was mad at her right now, she knew she must have had a good reason.

Part Four - Departure
Posted: 22/04/23, Edited: 24/09/23
AN: Thank you to @ac3may for the late night brainstorming sessions for this series 💜
“I’m gonna miss you sooo much!” Rachel whined from the drivers side of the car. “We’re only going for a week Rach!” Millie chimed from the back seat, poking fun at her best friend’s need to have you around 24/7. “You’re not in love, you don’t understand!” your girlfriend snapped in jest, “well that’s a bit rude” Millie muttered to herself barely in earshot but just loud enough that you heard her. “This is the longest we’ve ever been apart!” Rachel’s whining continued as she placed a hand on your knee which you ignored. She’d been determined to wind you up since last night and was getting on your last nerve, “I can’t remember the last holiday I went on” sighing as you continued to daydream out of the window at the passing scenery. “Oh okay, do I not exist? Can nobody hear me?” Rachel looked around the car at the two girls next to her dramatically. Rolling your eyes before turning your head to look at your woman, “so this is my life is it? Stuck to you forever?” your side eye burned a hole in her head partnered with a smirk to show you’re playing with her. “We haven’t even been on holiday together yet and you’re going with Millie! I heard that eye roll by the way. I’ve lost count of how many eye rolls you’ve done during this journey!” Rachel’s tone jokey but extremely jealous you were going away without her. “Oh my god you needy little bitch!” Millie straight face stared at her bestie in the rear view mirror. “Do you know how badly I need a holiday!?” “Yes! You don’t shut up about it! When you get to Champion’s League, then you can have a holiday!” Millie swiped at her causing you to smack a hand over your mouth to hide the giggle coming from within. Rachel’s hand tightened the grip on your knee hearing you trying to hold back your laughter, knowing all too well that once one of you starts laughing, you’re all gonna set off and once you three start, there’s no stopping you. “Well I’m sure you two will have a looovely time without me” Rach continued sarcastically “just think of me when you’re soaking up that sun yeah! You sure as hell need some Brighty!” The banter inside the car was too much for your hand to hold back as the laughs came flooding out of your mouth making the other two to erupt in laughter as well. “In all seriousness though..” Millie leant through the middle to look at Rach “we won’t miss ya!” she mocked, trying her best to act serious but struggled to keep a straight face as Rach attempted to swipe at her behind the seat. “Wooow okay, maybe I’ll find a new best friend and girlfriend while you’re away” she said acting smug with herself. “I’d like to see you try and find someone that’ll put up with all your crap!” you hit back at her as you interlocked your fingers with hers. “I think you’re both being very rude!” Rachel ended in a silly voice as she pulled into the airport car park.
Chelsea lost the first leg of the Champions League semi final which you all watched together the day before. Even though she was injured, Millie was always going to go to Barcelona with the girls but with so many players injured, there was plenty of free space on the plane and she’d managed to blag you on. Who says no to a free holiday? No one, that’s who. Rach had encouraged you into going and was excited until you got in the car this morning and started to act unbearably needy. It was cute really but you liked playing with her, she knew you’d miss her too but at the moment you were having fun with it.
Lugging the bags out of the car Millie walked away to take a phone call leaving you and Rach alone. Sinking into the boot of the car you took a moment to say goodbye “I am gonna miss you yknow” you said stroking her forearm knowing it makes her feel tingly. “Of course I do, you don’t hide it very well” she winked as her elbow prodded your ribs. “Don’t do that when I’m leaving” you shoved her shoulder gently “what? Wink?” she pushed as she winked harder and repetitively in your face causing you to push her away with more force, “okay you ruined the moment! My last memory of you won’t be my hot and sexy girlfriend, it’ll be the pain in the arse I somehow fell in love with!” you laughed. “Oh you know exactly how you fell in love with me” her sultry tone paired with her bedroom eyes came as close to your face as possible without actually touching you, making your stomach do somersaults and resisting her impossible. Grabbing the back of her neck you pulled her into a slow and passionate kiss goodbye.
“Ahem” the sound of Millie making her presence known broke you both apart “we’re boarding, we better go”.
Rachel carried your bag and held your hand tightly through the terminal until you reached the gate where the team were congregated. Passport in hand you hugged your girl as the team filed through border control, there were club photographers and social media personnel everywhere. Assuming Rach wouldn’t want to kiss you on camera you said goodbye and turned to join the queue. You should have known Rachel wasn’t going to have any of that as she grabbed your wrist pulling you back towards her and embracing you one last time, feeling flashes of light on your skin as your lips locked together. “I’ll miss you princess” your speech soft and a little emotional as you tucked her hair behind her ear. “Have an amazing time beautiful, I love you so much” was her response and with that you were swept through to the plane tunnel, “I love you more!” you called out to her as the door closed. “Never” Rachel smiled under her breath, the distance between you already making your love for each other grow fonder, something you didn’t think possible.
