Guy wearing red tie becomes a meme after witnessing a brutal knockout punch
Tumblr media
You never know when you might become a meme.
During a hard-hitting match between heavyweight boxers Deontay Wilder and Dominic Breazeale Friday night, Wilder landed a nasty right hook on the jaw of Breazeale in the first round, sending him to the ground in a daze. That knockout punch garnered quite the reaction from spectators, but one guy in particular made the most perfect face.
The man in the front row with the red tie was astounded. Wide-eyed and open-mouthed in shock, he looks like he's just seen a god appear on Earth.

— Michael Casagrande (@ByCasagrande) May 19, 2019
That hit that Wilder landed was certainly amazing to witness, and getting a front-row view of a first-round knockout in a championship match is not exactly an experience that's easy to come by.
This man, this red tie guy, appears to have seen one of the most astonishing things he's ever witnessedin his life. I mean, look at that hit. If Breazeale didn't go down after that punch there'd be something wrong with him.

With that hit, Wilder held onto his championship title for the ninth consecutive time. Breazeale was on a three-match win streak before he met Wilder's right fist at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn.
Boxing fans will remember the match for the match, but the rest of the internet just found a great new reaction image.

Family of ducks makes a heart-melting annual parade through this hospital
Tumblr media
Each year, a duck visits the courtyard of Thompson Health in upstate New York to lay her eggs. Once the fuzzy little ducklings hatch, they have a little parade through the hospital's nursing home, the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center.
Is there a better way to ring in the spring season every year? No.
The University of Rochester Medicine Thompson Health Facebook page shared a little story on Thursday that would thaw the winter out of anyone's heart, sharing pictures of 2019's family of ducks and their journey through the facility's hallways and out a door.
The mother of the ducklings will tap on the glass door of the courtyard when her ducklings hatch, according to the post, and the staff allows them to walk through the facility to get out into the big wide world.
The first picture shows the matriarch and her crew of 13 children waddling through the hall as staff guide them with old signage in case they stray from their annual path. It looks like both staff and visitors are smitten by the intrepid water fowl.
North American mallards like these migrate hundreds (and even thousands) of miles in the fall and spring, according to Ducks Unlimited, so the return of ducks and duckling sightings are pretty good signs that warm weather season is here to stay.
SEE ALSO: A once-extinct bird returned from the dead in a rare evolution process
As far as nesting goes, it's pretty common for mallards to nest around human structures, especially when there's vegetation around. And ducks that live in populated areas are usually pretty comfortable and docile around people, according to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
To have ducks nest in one courtyard, knock on a door, and have a parade year after year is a special kind of magic, though.

How 'Assassin's Creed' could help with the restoration of Notre-Dame
Tumblr media
After a devastating fire caused major damage to the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris Moday, donations have poured in from around the globe. While money certainly helps, the church also needs a concrete plan on how to restore the damaged portions of the building, and Assassin's Creed could be its saving grace.
The Notre-Dame Cathedral was featured as a fully explorable building in the 2014 Ubisoft video game Assassin's Creed Unity, which is set in Paris during the French Revolution. Developers on the game spent 14 months recreating Notre-Dame for the digital world, a Ubisoft spokesperson told Mashable, with the structure becoming the game's benchmark landmark for both player navigation and the visual standards of the game.
SEE ALSO: The most striking newspaper tributes to Notre-Dame
Although the Unity version of Notre-Dame represents the cathedral as it was in the late 1700s, it is still an impressive representation of the church as it looked right before the fire damaged the majority of its wooden structures and could be helpful as a reference in the restoration of the building.
In a statement regarding its involvement in the restoration process of Notre-Dame, an Ubisoft spokesperson said that the company is willing to help in any way it can, although the digital model of the building isn't quite one to one with the real thing.
"It is important to keep in mind that what we did for the game was not a scientific reconstruction but rather an artistic vision," the spokesperson said. "While we wanted to be very precise with details, there are some differences in terms of scale and with some elements. That being said, we would be more than happy to lend our expertise in any way that we can to help with these efforts."
While at the moment Ubisoft has not been recruited by the church to help with restoration, the company did donate €500,000 to restoration efforts and has made Assassin's Creed Unity free to play.
In solidarity with everyone moved by Monday's events we’re donating to the restoration of Notre-Dame & giving you the chance to play @AssassinsCreed Unity on Uplay for free. Details below:
— Ubisoft (@Ubisoft) April 17, 2019
There's one other recreation of the Notre-Dame Cathedral that could aid in its reconstruction — that of Vasser College architecture historian Andrew Tallon.
According to CBS News, Tallon spent years recreating the cathedral using photographs and laser technology, collecting a "billion points of data" on the structure which could be a key resource in the reconstruction.

Princess Eugenie's wedding dress carried an inspiring message about self-image
Tumblr media
At her royal wedding, Princess Eugenie wore a dress with a low-cut back that revealed a long scar from an operation on her spine, inspiring others with back scars to share photos and feel more comfortable with their bodies.

Eugenie, who had surgery to correct her scoliosis at age 12 according to CNN, worked with designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos on her wedding dress. The low-cut back is deliberate, and meant to show her scar.

She spoke about the design decision in an interview on ITV, saying, "I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that."
Eugenie's decision to refrain from hiding her scar caught the attention of others with scars from scoliosis surgery, who voiced support for Eugenie and spoke about how it was inspiring sight to see.

Scoliosis is a relatively common condition in which a person's spine has an abnormal curve to it. While some cases are relatively mild, more extreme instances of scoliosis can be treated with surgery to improve posture, reduce pain, and lessen the threat of more serious complications.

The three backpacks were designed by David Ben-David, Sprayground’s creative director and founder, with some help from Shaq himself. The two backpacks you see on the left are normal-sized, one of which features Shaq as the star of a $34 bill (a reference to the number he wore with the Los Angeles Lakers). The other portrays Shaq as a cartoon among other Sprayground characters.
Sprayground's Shaq Attack backpack, which appears to be roughly four times the size of a standard, puts the focus on Shaq's time with the Lakers, with whom he won three of his four NBA championship rings.

City rallies behind 13-year-old entrepreneur after a racist moron calls the cops
Tumblr media
You'd think people would stop calling the cops on young black kids who aren't actually affecting their lives in the slightest, but here we are. At least this time the end of the story is a bit more heart-warming.
Jaequan Faulkner, 13, set up a little food stand outside of his home in Minnesota to help raise money for school clothes, and some heartless (read: racist) person called the police on him because he didn't have a permit to run a business. Instead of shutting Faulkner down, the Minneapolis Police Department came out in support of him and teamed up with the local health department to get him the permit he needed to keep running, the Associate Press reported earlier in the week.
SEE ALSO: 5 things white people can do before they call the cops on a black person
The story gained steam throughout the week, garnering more national attention and becoming a popular Twitter moment Friday night. People who learned about the story sympathized with Faulkner and praised the police for encouraging his entrepreneurial spirit rather than stifling it.
If you want responsibe adults and entrepreneurs, you have to enable them, not harass them. Hat tip to the @MinneapolisPD https://t.co/IbIfczwEsi
— Carol Forden (@CarolForden) July 20, 2018
The local news station KARE 11 News reported on Faulkner's small business, calling it a hit.
We first met Jaequan Faulkner and his summer hot dog stand in June. Someone complained to the city. Instead of shutting his stand down, the city of Minneapolis stepped up to help the 13-year-old get his permit. Next on @kare11. pic.twitter.com/WYKA8rqzEz
— Heidi Wigdahl (@HeidiWigdahl) July 16, 2018
According to KARE 11, Faulkner started his hot dog and snack stand in 2016 with the help of his uncle, and he returned this summer after taking a break last year. Shortly after getting up and running, a complaint was made to the Minneapolis Department of Health about his food stand, AP reported.
Instead of attempting to shut Faulkner down, the city pitched in and took care of his $87 permit so he could keep selling his food and making money for school. Not only that, the health department contacted a local organization to give him some tips on keeping his business thriving and making sure everything is as clean as it can be.
Staff from @MplsHealthDept, Minneapolis Promise Zone and @NEONBusiness helped bring Jaequan’s Old Fashioned Hot Dogs up to code and officially permitted by the City. pic.twitter.com/gyYWhsHXwB
— City of Minneapolis (@CityMinneapolis) July 16, 2018
Stories about individuals calling the police on black people who aren't doing anything illegal at all or black kids who are just trying to make some money have been blowing up on the internet recently, with callers like Allison Ettel and Jennifer Schulte getting publicly roasted for their prejudiced behavior.
Although we don't know for sure who called in the complaint on Faulkner, it's nice to see local authorities being reasonable and helpful rather than antagonistic.

Garbage plates: The great American dish
Tumblr media
What is the quintessential American food?
The answer is hard to pin down. This is a vast country made up of an astounding array of people and as a nation we have yet to really establish a satisfying answer for what our emblematic meal is. I have a contender I'd like to put forward on this, the birthday of the United States of America: the garbage plate.
A post shared by With the Locals📍 (@withthelocals) on May 14, 2015 at 9:16am PDT
You may not be familiar with garbage plates but that's OK. Someday every American will know the inimitable joy of this hodge-podge dish that combines the finest fares that this country has to offer. It's not a simple food to explain, and that's possibly what makes it such a perfect fit for this place so many people call home.
SEE ALSO: Costco food court items, ranked
We just need to spread it far and wide from its humble beginnings in Rochester, New York.
The plate
The garbage plate has multiple parts, all of it usually contained inside a styrofoam, or hopefully more recyclable container, with steep enough walls so as not to let any of the food fall out while shoveling it in your mouth.
First there's the base. At the bottom of any garbage plate there should be a healthy serving of few different foods: french fries (or, as the locals call their shorter, fatter variant: home fries), macaroni salad, or baked beans. Usually you pick one or two of these, the most common and acceptable choice being the home fries/mac salad combo.
A post shared by Amy Suchodolski (@valleyofthedolskis) on Jun 29, 2018 at 5:46pm PDT
Next there's the protein. On top of the base you can put hot dogs, hamburger patties, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, veggie burgers, a grilled cheese, sausages, or a fish fry. It can be whatever your heart desires as long as you can cut it up pretty easily and it's something you personally find tasty.
Finally there's the toppings. Ketchup, mustard, and onions are all optional, but there's one essential ingredient that ties everything together: hot sauce. The traditional garbage plate uses a flavorful, meaty hot sauce that you can easily make with onions, garlic, beef, tomato sauce, vinegar and a handful of spices including cayenne and chili powder, although you can sub out the beef if you're not into that kind of thing.
Once the three layers are assembled, it's encouraged to mix all of it thoroughly so that you get a little piece of everything in every single bite. And don't forget the side of bread and butter, just because.
Thus we have the garbage plate.
A post shared by Zweigle’s Meat Products 🌭 (@zweigles) on Jun 29, 2018 at 8:05am PDT
The origins
The garbage plate is a local feat of ingenuity that stems from the greater Rochester area of upstate New York, located about 70 miles east of Buffalo and situated upon the winding Genesee River amidst rolling farmland and suburb-spackled swampland.
Known as the birthplace of Kodak, Xerox, and Susan B. Anthony, Rochester has a rich history that stretches back hundreds of years, rising up out of Lake Ontario's shadow as America's first boomtown toward the tail end of the 18th century. As a town with a lot to offer to folks looking for a new start in the western hemisphere, Rochester was a natural magnet for all different kinds of people.
In the second half of the 19th century and leading into the turn of the 20th, a large influx of Greek immigrants came to the states, some of who ended up in Rochester. One of those immigrants, Alexander Tahou (pronounced like Tahoe), opened up a restaurant just west of the Genesee River on West Main Street in 1918.
It was called West Main Texas Hots, the "hots" part referring to Rochester's distinct hot dogs that come in both red and white varieties, the former being pretty much your standard hot dog and the latter being a pork-, beef-, and veal-based, unsmoked hot dog similar to Germany's weisswurst. To the residents of Rochester and whoever passed through, West Main Texas Hots offered a hots and potatoes dish that served as the building blocks for what later became a western New York institution.
A post shared by Trudi (@scone54scone) on Jun 27, 2018 at 1:29pm PDT
Alexander's son Nick took over in the '40s and changed the name of the joint to Nick Tahou Hots, which remains to this day. Over the decades, the restaurant stayed true to its nature as it catered to Rochestarians with its carb- and protein-covered plates.
Legend has it, according to Eater, that college students in the '80s asked for "that plate with all the garbage on it," and thus the garbage plate received its official name, sealed with a trademark in 1992.
Since then the garbage plate, also known simply as "the plate" has flourished throughout the area, with an uncountable number of restaurants offering their own takes on the plate. Some stick to the traditional setup of varying qualities while others offer their own spin on it with inspirations from various countries and regions.
Garbage plates have sprung up here and there all around the country, slowly injecting themselves into the lifeblood of the U.S.A. and becoming more and more popular.
This is the garbage plate's time to shine.
American fare
So what is the quintessential American food? Is it the hamburger? The hot dog? Perhaps it's pizza, the chicken wing, barbecue, or even the burrito?
No, I say it's the garbage plate.
The garbage plate is a dish brought to the states by an immigrant. The garbage plate got many people through the Great Depression and the second World War. The garbage plate is able to be personalized to fit any person's tastes.
A post shared by Pico (@picolosalamos) on Jul 1, 2018 at 4:25pm PDT
When most people think about American food, fried and grilled food often come to mind, and perhaps the word "abundance" or maybe "large helpings."
The garbage plate checks all of these boxes. It's an amazing mix of food that can work as a hearty meal out at a table service restaurant or late-night take out grub for possibly intoxicated individuals that need to satisfy their junky food cravings.
If you love hot dogs, put hot dogs on your plate. If you love fries, put fries on your plate. If you want to make a Mexican-style garbage plate with chorizo, refried beans, or some guacamole, do it.
The garbage plate represents everyone and the thing that everyone wants: lots of food. It is the quintessential American dish.

There aren't a ton of details about the Flick 'N' Jerk right now. Will it work like Bop It in that you'll have to do what the toy tells you? Is it just kind of a free-for-all kind of thing where you just do what you want? Is there multiplayer?
No matter how it works, it's impossible to deny that this thing does a lot. Is there anything else you could ask for? I don't think so. It's a one-stop shop for sexual pleasure.
When it comes out, the Flick 'N' Jerk will be Nutaku's first physical product — normally the site peddles in NSFW desktop and mobile games. Stay tuned to the website for more information on its price and release.
