How can I plan my 7 day trip to Uttarakhand?
Planning a 7-day trip to Uttarakhand involves considering various factors such as your interests, budget, transportation, and the time of year you plan to visit. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you plan your trip:
Determine your Interests: Decide what you want to experience in Uttarakhand. Are you interested in nature, adventure, spirituality, or a combination of these? Uttarakhand offers a range of options, including hill stations, wildlife reserves, pilgrimage sites, and adventure sports.
Choose your Destinations: Based on your interests and the duration of your trip, select the destinations you want to visit. Some popular options include Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Nainital, Jim Corbett National Park, and Auli. Research each destination to understand what it offers and if it aligns with your preferences.
Create an Itinerary: Allocate the number of days you want to spend in each destination. Consider the travel time between places and the activities you wish to do. Make a day-by-day plan, including the places you will visit, the activities you will engage in, and the time you will spend in each location. Keep in mind that travel times in Uttarakhand can vary due to hilly terrain and road conditions.
Transportation: Determine the mode of transportation you will use to get around Uttarakhand. Depending on your preference, you can hire a private car, use public transportation, or a combination of both. If you plan to travel long distances, consider booking a private car or hiring a driver for convenience and flexibility.
Accommodation: Research and book your accommodations in advance. Uttarakhand offers a range of options, including hotels, resorts, guesthouses, and homestays. Consider factors such as location, amenities, and budget while selecting your accommodations.
Check Weather and Season: Uttarakhand's weather can vary significantly throughout the year. Check the weather conditions for the time you plan to visit and pack accordingly. Keep in mind that some destinations may have specific seasons for activities like skiing in Auli or wildlife spotting in Jim Corbett National Park.
Research Attractions and Activities: Look for specific attractions, activities, and experiences you want to include in your itinerary. Uttarakhand offers opportunities for trekking, wildlife safaris, river rafting, yoga and meditation retreats, temple visits, and more. Make a list of the must-visit places and experiences that align with your interests.
Budget: Set a budget for your trip and allocate funds for transportation, accommodations, meals, activities, and any additional expenses. Consider entry fees, adventure sports costs, and any specific experiences that may have separate charges.
Pack Smartly: Based on the weather and activities you plan to engage in, pack appropriate clothing, footwear, and any necessary equipment. Don't forget essentials like sunscreen, insect repellent, medications, and a first aid kit.
Stay Flexible: While it's good to have a planned itinerary, be open to changes and unexpected experiences. Leave some room for flexibility to accommodate any unforeseen circumstances or spontaneous activities you may come across during your trip.
Remember to check for any travel advisories or restrictions before your trip and ensure you have all the necessary permits or documents for certain activities or restricted areas. Enjoy your trip to Uttarakhand and embrace the beauty and serenity of the region!
How many days are enough for Uttarakhand trip?
The number of days needed for a trip to Uttarakhand can vary depending on your interests, the destinations you want to visit, and the activities you plan to engage in. However, a minimum of 7 to 10 days is recommended to explore some of the popular destinations in Uttarakhand and have a fulfilling experience. This duration allows you to visit key attractions, indulge in activities like trekking or wildlife safaris, and also provides some flexibility to relax and soak in the natural beauty of the region.
Here's a general guideline for trip durations in Uttarakhand based on popular destinations:
Dehradun: 1 to 2 days
Mussoorie: 2 to 3 days
Rishikesh: 2 to 3 days
Haridwar: 1 to 2 days
Nainital: 2 to 3 days
Jim Corbett National Park: 2 to 3 days
Auli: 2 to 3 days

Additionally, if you want to explore more offbeat destinations or engage in longer treks, you may need to extend your trip accordingly.
It's also important to consider travel time between destinations, as Uttarakhand's hilly terrain can lead to longer travel durations. Plan your itinerary carefully, allowing for sufficient travel time and rest between destinations.
Ultimately, the ideal duration for your Uttarakhand trip will depend on your interests, available time, and travel preferences.
How to plan road trip in Uttarakhand?
Planning a road trip in Uttarakhand can be an exciting and adventurous way to explore the scenic landscapes of the region. Here are some steps to help you plan your road trip in Uttarakhand:
Research Destinations: Start by researching the destinations you want to visit in Uttarakhand. Consider factors such as the distance between places, road conditions, and the attractions or activities available in each location. Some popular destinations for a road trip in Uttarakhand include Dehradun, Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Nainital, Jim Corbett National Park, and Auli.
Determine the Duration: Decide how many days you have available for your road trip. This will help you determine the number of destinations you can cover and the amount of time you can spend in each place. Consider the travel time between destinations, as hilly terrain and road conditions can slow down the journey.
Plan the Route: Once you have a list of destinations, plan your route accordingly. Use online maps and navigation tools to identify the best roads and the most efficient routes. Take into account the distance, travel time, and any scenic routes or viewpoints you want to include along the way. It's also a good idea to have alternative routes in mind in case of any road closures or diversions.
Check Road Conditions: Before your trip, check the road conditions and any travel advisories for the areas you plan to visit. Uttarakhand's hilly terrain can experience landslides or road closures, especially during the monsoon season. Stay updated on the current road conditions to ensure a smooth journey.
Arrange for Vehicle and Permits: If you're not traveling in your own vehicle, arrange for a rental car or hire a taxi. Make sure the vehicle is in good condition and suitable for the terrain you'll be traveling through. Additionally, check if any permits are required for specific areas or wildlife reserves, such as Jim Corbett National Park, and obtain them in advance.
Plan Accommodations: Research and book your accommodations along the route. Consider the location, parking facilities, and any specific requirements you may have. Uttarakhand offers a range of options, including hotels, resorts, guesthouses, and homestays. Book in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons.
Pack Essentials: Pack smartly for your road trip. Carry essentials such as a first aid kit, necessary medications, snacks, water, spare tire, toolkit, and emergency contact numbers. Depending on the season, pack appropriate clothing and footwear, including warm layers for higher-altitude destinations.
Stay Flexible: While having a planned route is important, leave room for flexibility. Embrace spontaneous detours, explore local attractions, and make unplanned stops to enjoy the natural beauty of Uttarakhand. Allow for extra time in case you come across unexpected roadblocks or delays.
Safety First: Ensure your safety during the road trip. Drive carefully, follow traffic rules, and be cautious on hilly roads. Keep emergency contact numbers handy and inform someone about your itinerary and estimated arrival times. It's also advisable to have travel insurance that covers any emergencies or unforeseen circumstances.
Remember to respect the local culture, wildlife, and natural surroundings during your road trip. Enjoy the journey, make memories, and immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of Uttarakhand.

However we will have a look at some of the best products you can buy when in Rishikesh.
We have curated a list for those who love to indulge in some fancy shopping!
Precious or Semi-Precious Stones
You can find a number of stalls in the town that sell genuine gemstones, both precious and semi-precious. Tourists can find these stalls on either side of the Laxman Jhula Bridge, which is a well-known tourist attraction in the town. If you fancy stone studded jewelry, you can find everything here ranging from pendants, chains, earrings, and finger rings. Tourists also get to buy just the stones, and many stalls also sell stones used for astrological purposes like “panna” or “meena.”
Though most of the places sell genuine products, one cannot vouch for their authenticity. If you are in any doubt, do not go ahead with the purchase. But do remember to bargain well.
Music CDs and DVDs
Rishikesh is a pilgrimage site, and hence you can find many stalls that sell music CDs of devotional songs and bhajans that are dedicated to the Hindu deities. Most of these songs have the tune of popular songs and are quite popular with tourists. Places surrounding Rishikesh are known to have a number of beekeeping farms, and hence you can get fresh and naturally sweet honey here. And, the best part is that you can find these in different flavors as well.
Woolen Outfits
Woolen clothing like shawls or sweaters is the best thing you can buy when shopping at a hill station like Rishikesh. Tourists get to choose from a wide variety of woolen products like scarfs, mittens, socks and more that keep them safe in the harsh weather conditions. These are great as souvenirs also.
Handicrafts
Rishikesh is a town that is not only famous for Yoga but is quite popular for handicrafts too. Tourists can buy well-preserved handicrafts that are based on the Garhwali and the Kumaoni culture. Most of the products here are made using natural fibers like Jute and Raambaan. The markets here are also good to purchase copperware and wooden crafts.
Pashmina and Angora
If you are in Rishikesh or the state of Uttarakhand, you cannot miss shopping for Pashmina shawls or Angora. How to Visit the Valley of Flowers National Park in India
The staggering scene of The Valley of Flowers National Park in northern India's province of Uttarakhand, flanked by Nepal and Tibet, wakes up with the rainstorm downpour.
This high-elevation Himalayan valley has around 300 unique assortments of snow capped blossoms, which show up as a splendid floor covering of shading against a sloping snow topped foundation. It's spread over 87.5 square kilometers (55 miles) and was proclaimed a national park in 1982. It's likewise an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The principle Valley of Flowers is a cold hall, around five kilometers (3.1 miles) long and two kilometers (1.2 miles) wide.
The trekking course to the Valley of Flowers was gravely harmed by floods in 2013. The Valley revived for the whole season in 2015.
Area
The Valley of Flowers National Park is situated in Chamoli Garhwal, near Nanda Devi National Park. It's around 595 kilometers (370 miles) from Delhi, and has a height that differs from 10,500 feet to 21,900 feet above ocean level.
The closest air terminal is in Dehradun, 295 kilometers (183 miles) away. The closest railroad station is in Rishikesh, 276 kilometers (170 miles) away.
The most effective method to Get There
Some exertion is required to arrive at the Valley of Flowers. The trek starts at Pulna town close Govind Ghat. To get to the beginning stage, you'll have to travel roughly 10 hours by street to Joshimath from Dehradun, Haridwar or Rishikesh. This is trailed by one more hour by street from Joshimath. The course is en route to Badrinath sanctuary and this article has more data about vehicle alternatives.
From Pulna town you'll have to trek to the base camp at Ghangaria. Following the 2013 flood, the way has been rerouted at numerous spots and the complete separation has expanded from around 13 kilometers (8 miles) to 16 kilometers. Nonetheless, the new street from Govind Ghat to Pulna town will thump about an hour off your trek time. Contingent upon your wellness level and how quick you trek, you can anticipate that it should take six to eight hours. Do take note of that there's a checkpoint close to the beginning of the trek and you won't be permitted to cross it after 2 p.m. In this way, get moving as right on time as could reasonably be expected!
The start of the principle valley, where every one of the blooms are, is a further 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) from Ghangaria. The trek has turned out to be more extreme since the flood, as a major aspect of the way has been reconstructed. Inside the valley, you'll have to trek for a further 5-10 kilometers to see every one of the blossoms.
Valley of blossoms
How Difficult is the Trek?
The principal extend, from Govind Ghat to Ghangaria, is genuinely simple to decently troublesome. It turns out to be increasingly strenuous after that. Be that as it may, you'll feel large and in charge in this mystical and charming spot. Outlandish blooms and foliage can be discovered up and down the course from Ghangria to the primary valley.
The individuals who are worried about their wellness level can employ a watchman at Govind Ghat to convey their baggage to Ghangaria or ride donkey (or even pass by helicopter if the climate is fine).
At the point when to Visit
The Valley of Flowers is just open from the earliest starting point of June until the start of October, as it's canvassed in snow the remainder of the year. The best time to visit is from mid July to mid August, when the blossoms are in full sprout after the main rainstorm downpour.
In the event that visit before July, you'll find barely any blooms whatsoever. In any case, you will almost certainly observe day off liquefying icy masses. After mid August, the shade of the Valley changes significantly from greenish to yellowish, and the blossoms gradually pass on. In September, the climate winds up more clear with less downpour yet the blossoms begin evaporating.
With respect to the climate, temperatures get very cold during the evening and in the early morning.
Opening times
To keep trekkers and animals from taking a lot of a toll on the recreation center, access to The Valley of Flowers is confined to light hours (from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and outdoors is denied. The last passage to the recreation center is at 2 p.m. You'll have to go from, and come back to, Ghangaria around the same time.
Section Fees and Charges
The section charge is 650 rupees for outsiders and 150 rupees for Indians for a 3-day pass. Each extra day is 250 rupees for outsiders and 50 rupees for Indians. There's a Forest Department checkpoint not exactly a kilometer from Ghangaria, which denotes the official start of The Valley of Flowers. This is the place you pay the cash and get your license. (Ensure you convey proper ID).
Hope to pay 1,000 rupees upwards per individual for a doorman or a donkey (contingent upon interest), for the trek to Ghangaria. Modest plastic waterproof shells are additionally accessible for buy at Govind Ghat. A guide will cost around 2,000 rupees. Travel by helicopter one path from Govind Ghat to Ghangaria (or the other way) costs around 3,500 rupees for every individual.
Where to Stay
The administration run Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) guesthouses are dependable spending alternatives for lodging in the region, and advance appointments are conceivable.
You can go through the night at Joshimath or Govind Ghat before beginning the trek to Ghangaria. The lodging are progressively abundant and of a higher standard in Joshimath through. Perhaps the best spot to remain there is Himalayan Abode Homestay, as the host is an accomplished mountain climber and possesses an experience travel organization. Nanda Inn homestay is suggested also.
There are Sikh gurudwaras (hallowed places) at Govind Ghat and Ghangaria that give protected and clean facilities, and free nourishment. On the off chance that all the private rooms are involved at the Ghangaria gurudwara, you can rest in the lobby.
At Ghangaria you'll discover a scope of housing from shoddy guesthouses to extravagance tents, valued anyplace between 200 rupees to 1,500 rupees for each night. In any case, solaces are insignificant, and the power and water supply are flighty. The Sri Nanda Lokpal Palace is the best spot to remain there.
Outdoors in the lovely valley of blossoms
What to Pack
Ensure you get a lot of garments case you get rained on (which is likely). Other helpful things pack incorporate a parka, spotlight, headlamp, sunscreen, top, water bottles, medical aid unit, toiletries, little towel, and plastic sacks to shield your electronic things from getting wet. In a perfect world, wear waterproof climbing shoes, rucksack and day pack.
Travel Tips
Enable three days to finish the trek - one day from Govind Ghat to Ghangaria, one day for the Valley of Flowers, and one day for the arrival trek.
Govind Ghat and Ghangaria become very busy from July to September with Sikh pioneers on their approach to Hem Kund (a Sikh holy place with the most elevated height in India), so it's a smart thought to book lodging ahead of time.
On the off chance that you have an additional day, you can likewise visit Hem Kund. It has a pleasant mountain setting with an elevated lake. The trek is more extreme than that to the Valley of Flowers through. Anticipate that it should take 3-5 hours from Ghangaria. The height of Hem Kund is 14,100 feet above ocean level, so it will be cold there.
There are eateries serving essential Indian nourishment along the course up to Ghangaria. You'll likewise discover shops in transit from Ghangaria to Hem Kund, and free nourishment at the hallowed place. Be that as it may, you'll have to convey your very own sustenance from Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers as none is accessible.
Note that there are not many toilets along the trekking course and none in the valley. Hope to diminish yourself in nature.
A great many people will find that their cell arrange inclusion vanishes after Govind Ghat.
Visits to the Valley of Flowers and Side Trips
Blue Poppy Holidays has over 10 years involvement in trekking to The Valley of Flowers, and the proprietor is energetic about the zone and nature. The organization runs normal premium fixed takeoff visits each year from Haridwar and their site is brimming with accommodating data. The visits are estimated higher than different organizations yet they permit two days at the Valley of Flowers rather than one - and are the main organization that does this. Furthermore, they have their own premium risen camp at Ghangaria and houses at Auli to oblige visitors.
Other trustworthy neighborhood visit organizations incorporate Nandadevi Trek n Tours and Himalayan Snow Runner. Famous experience organization Thrillophilia likewise offers trips. Ensure you look at the subtleties of what each gives in contrast with the expense.
Government worked visits keep running for seven days from Rishikesh (see Tour 12). The visits are efficient and fun yet have fundamental housing. The blessed Hindu town of Badrinath is just 14 kilometers (8.6 miles) from Joshimath and can without much of a stretch be visited on multi day trip from that point, and as a stop on the visit. The town includes a vivid sanctuary devoted to Lord Vishnu. It's one of the Char Dham (four sanctuaries) prevalent with Hindu explorers.

It provides budget-friendly dormitory-style accommodations and private rooms. The hostel has a common area, a communal kitchen, and a rooftop terrace. It is close to many popular attractions in Rishikesh, including the Ganges River and the iconic suspension bridges.
Remember to check the latest reviews, ratings, and availability of these Zostels before making a final decision for your trip.
Which area is best to stay in Rishikesh?
Rishikesh offers various areas to stay, each with its own unique atmosphere and advantages. The best area for you to stay in Rishikesh depends on your preferences and the purpose of your visit. Here are a few popular areas to consider:
Laxman Jhula: Laxman Jhula is one of the most popular areas in Rishikesh, known for its vibrant atmosphere and a wide range of accommodation options. It is located near the famous suspension bridge of the same name and offers easy access to temples, yoga centers, cafes, shops, and the Ganges River. If you prefer a lively and bustling environment with plenty of amenities and activities, Laxman Jhula is a good choice.
Swarg Ashram: Swarg Ashram is a serene and spiritual area located on the eastern bank of the Ganges River. It is known for its peaceful atmosphere, ashrams, yoga centers, and meditation retreats. Swarg Ashram is a great place to stay if you're seeking a quieter and more introspective experience, with opportunities for spiritual practices and tranquil walks along the river.
Tapovan: Tapovan is a quieter neighborhood located a little further away from the main tourist areas. It offers a peaceful ambiance and beautiful views of the Himalayas. Tapovan is popular among yoga enthusiasts and those looking for a more secluded stay. The area has a good selection of yoga centers, organic cafes, and wellness retreats.
Ultimately, the best area to stay in Rishikesh depends on your personal preferences. If you're interested in adventure sports like rafting or prefer a quieter and more spiritual experience, Swarg Ashram or Tapovan might be more suitable. If you want to be in the heart of the action with easy access to amenities and attractions, Laxman Jhula is a good choice.
What is the concept of Zostel?
Zostel is a popular chain of backpacker hostels in India. The concept of Zostel revolves around providing affordable and comfortable accommodation options for budget travelers, particularly backpackers and solo travelers. The name "Zostel" is a combination of "zone" and "hostel," emphasizing the idea of creating a vibrant and welcoming community within a designated space.
The main features of Zostel include:
Budget-Friendly Accommodation: Zostel offers dormitory-style rooms with bunk beds, allowing travelers to stay at a lower cost compared to traditional hotels. Private rooms are also available for those seeking more privacy.
Community and Social Interaction: Zostels are designed to encourage social interaction among travelers. Common areas, such as lounges, rooftops, and communal kitchens, are provided where guests can mingle, share experiences, and make new friends. This fosters a sense of community and creates opportunities for cultural exchange.
Vibrant and Lively Atmosphere: Zostels aim to create a fun and energetic atmosphere for travelers. Many Zostels organize activities and events such as group outings, movie nights, music performances, and game nights. These activities enhance the social experience and make the stay more enjoyable.
Local Experiences and Travel Assistance: Zostel staff often have extensive knowledge of the local area and can provide recommendations on nearby attractions, restaurants, and adventure activities. They may also assist with booking tours and arranging transportation, making it easier for travelers to explore the destination.
Overall, Zostel aims to provide a comfortable and sociable environment where travelers can connect with like-minded individuals, discover new experiences, and explore the destination on a budget.
Is Zostel profitable?
However, it's worth noting that the profitability of any business, including Zostel, can vary over time due to various factors such as market conditions, competition, operating costs, and business strategies. Profitability depends on factors like occupancy rates, pricing, operational efficiency, and the ability to attract and retain customers.
Zostel has been successful in expanding its presence across multiple locations in India and has gained popularity among budget travelers. However, without access to up-to-date financial information, it's not possible for me to determine the current profitability of Zostel. If you're interested in obtaining the latest financial information about Zostel, I recommend referring to their official website, financial reports, or contacting the company directly.
Which is best Zostel?
The "best" Zostel can vary depending on individual preferences, location, amenities, and the specific experience you are seeking. Zostel has multiple locations across India, and each Zostel may have its own unique features and advantages.
To determine the best Zostel for your needs, I recommend considering factors such as the location you plan to visit, the amenities and facilities offered by each Zostel, customer reviews and ratings, the atmosphere you prefer (lively or peaceful), and any specific requirements or preferences you may have for your stay.
You can check travel websites, review platforms, and the official Zostel website for the latest information, customer reviews, and ratings to help you make an informed decision based on your specific preferences and requirements.
Is Zostel owned by Oyo?
As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Zostel and OYO are separate entities and not owned by each other. Zostel is an independent chain of backpacker hostels in India, while OYO is a hospitality company that operates a network of hotels and accommodations worldwide. Both Zostel and OYO operate in the hospitality industry but have different ownership and management structures.
However, it's important to note that information and business relationships can change over time. For the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding any potential changes in ownership or business partnerships between Zostel and OYO, I recommend referring to official sources or contacting the respective companies directly.
