What A Glorious Feeling
This chapter takes place after the pilot but before the first episode of the series.
Reader is a falcon demon, doesn't have a beak, wings drape over her kinda like Valentino's (i want him dead), reader has gray skin, usually wears a black tube top, black and white pinstripe pants, black boots, and has a daisy in her hair. Reader has the eyes and ears of a falcon and is also slightly cannibalistic. Reader can summon any weapons at will and can move things with her mind, whenever she does this, her eyes glow red. Like Alastor, reader can also summon anything at will. If you had something else in mind for how the reader looks, you are more than welcome to imagine something different.
I know Alastor is canonically aroace, but obviously, in this story he is not. Also, in this book, nobody knows the Radio Demon's name unless he decides to tell them. Sorry I should of said this earlier.

Present day...
"Ah Dustin," Y/N said, walking over to the man, who was cowering in the corner. "You broke our deal. You know what happens to people who don't keep their word with me, don't you?"
"Please," he begged. "Give me one more month I promise-"
"You said the exact same thing six months ago," she spat angrily, her wings unfolding.
"I swear-thi-this is the last time," he stuttered. "I just need-"
She summoned red chains, that latched onto Dustin's neck. Tugging the chains over to him, she grabbed his face, digging her claws into his cheeks. He let out a yelp of pain.
"The deal was that if I killed your pathetic wife, I'd get your soul, and you would get me what I needed from that idiot overlord who thinks he's the shit, just because he's a pimp!" Y/N snarled, digging her claws in harder, drawing blood. "I have been more then generous towards you, and this is how you repay me?"
"I'm trying!" he cried out, tears running down his face. "Please just don't kill me!"
She had a small frown on her face. "I should rip you apart limb by limb," she said, calmly but in a deadly voice. "But I'm not goin' to do that," She removed the chains from his neck and put him down.
"Thank you so much Assassin," Dustin said, wiping the blood off his cheeks. "I swear I will-"
He never finished his sentence. As fast as lighting, she summoned an axe and chopped his head clean off.
"Instead, I'll make this is as quick and painless for you," she giggled, licking off the blood from the axe. "I'll have to thank Carmilla for the angelic steel at the next overlord meeting."
Using the axe, Y/N chopped up his limbs and stuffed them in a trash bag she had brought with her.
"Cannibal town here I come," she smiled once she was done.

"Knock, knock," she said, knocking at the parlor door.
"Y/N!" Rosie exclaimed upon seeing you. "What are you doing here so soon?"
"I brought you a little somethin' to snack on," Y/N said, holding up the trash bag.
"Oh you spoil me so much, my dear," Rosie said, licking her lips.
"Anything for my closest friend," Y/N said, handing her the trash bag.
"This is the fifth one this month," Rosie said, opening up the bag. "Sinners know better than to break a deal with you."
"They'll never learn, Rosie," she giggled as she took a seat on the couch. "Did you see the news the other day?"
"The Princess sure does have her hopes up for this hotel," Rosie answered, pouring herself a cup of tea. "Tea, Y/N?"
"No thank you," Y/N answered. "Do you think anyone would actually check in to that hotel?"
"Who knows at this point," Rosie said, sipping her tea. "But judging by how people reacted, I don't think it's going to work out,"
"Shame," Y/N said. "It's a good idea, if it's actually possible."
"Say Y/N," she said, setting her cup down. "A friend of mine just recently got back into town. He's staying at this hotel,"
"Oh yeah?" Y/N asked curiously. "Who is it?"
"The Radio Demon," she said simply.
Y/N's eyes widened in surprise. "He's been gone for seven years," she said. "Why on Earth would he return now? And why would he be stayin' at the Princess's hotel?"
"Satan knows," Rosie replied. "Y'know, you and him would really hit it off."
Y/N's eyebrow rose up. "Sorry my darlin'," she said, lightly chuckling. "The Radio Demon is most certainly not my type."
"You don't even know him," Rosie said, a slight frown on her face.
"I don't need too," Y/N said curtly. "From what I know, he seems like a self-absorbed prick."
"Oh c'mon," Rosie nudged you. "The both of you have so much in common! You both like whiskey, you both like jazz, you both like killing people-"
"Why all of a sudden are you tryin' to play matchmaker?" Y/N interrupted. "And why The Radio Demon out of people?"
"Because you need to get out there!" Rosie said, smoothing out her dress. "Ever since I've known you, one of the main things you talk about is how in love you were when you were alive. What was his name again?"
"His name was Alastor," she said, her heart hurting. "I've searched all of Hell Rosie. Either he's up in Heaven, or the Exorcists got to him."
"That's why I want you to meet him," Rosie said, patting Y/N's shoulder. "Please? Do it for little ol' me?"
"I suppose so," she sighed. "I was already thinkin' about checkin' out the hotel anyway."
"Marvelous!" she exclaimed, clapping her hands together "I promise, you won't regret it!"

Landing in front of the hotel, she knocked at the door, feeling nervous, her wings fluttered behind her.
"I'm coming!" chirped a feminine voice from behind the door.
Fiddling with the hem of her top, Y/N waited until the person opened up the door.
The princess herself opened the door. "Hello! And welcome to the Hazbin Hot-"
Upon seeing your face in the doorway, she immediately slammed the door shut.

"Vaggie!" Charlie cried out.
"What is it?" Vaggie asked, coming down the staircase.
"The Assassin is at the door," Charlie panicked, pointing at the door. "What do we do?"
"Really? Another fucking overlord?" Vaggie angrily said, walking over to the door. "I'll handle this."

The door opened up a second time. Instead of the princess, a girl with a large X over her eye appeared in the doorway.
"What the hell do you want?" she asked suspiciously.
"There's no need to be so hostile," Y/N said, putting up her hands. "I'm here to simply offer up my services."
"We don't need you to kill anyone,"
"Not those kinds of services," she laughed. "I want to help with your hotel."
"Thanks, but we already have an overlord helping us," Vaggie said, eyeing her up and down.
"The Radio Demon, yes I know," she said, crossing her arms. "I still want to help,"
As Vaggie was about to close the door, Charlie popped up beside her.
"Wait Vaggie, we could use her help," she said, smiling. "With two overlords helping us, we can get a lot more done!"
"You have a point," Vaggie grumbled. "But I'm keeping my eye on you,"
Charlie beckoned you to come in. "Thank you, Princess Morningstar," Y/N said, stepping inside.
"Oh please, just call me Charlie," she waved off. "This is Vaggie," she gestured to the girl with the X.
"It's a pleasure to meet you both,"
"Thank you!" Charlie gushed. "Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel-er-"
"Y/N," she said. "My name is Y/N."
"Right! Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel Y/N! Would you like a tour?"
"Of course,"

"Why does the bar look like that?" Y/N asked after the tour was over.
"Someone blew it up a few days ago," Charlie said simply. "Our facility manager fixed it up so it's nothing to worry about!"
"Oh-uh-" Y/N didn't know was to say. "I'm glad it's all fixed."
"Oh my gosh!" she exclaimed. "I have to introduce you to everyone! C'mon!" Charlie grabbed her arm and dragged her away.
"This is Nifty, our maid," she said gesturing to the small demon, cleaning the floor. "Nifty, this is Y/N, she'll be staying with us
Nifty turned around and her eye widened and she smiled in a scary way.
"Ooooo! I've never seen a bad girl before!" she said menacingly as she crawled up on you. "Do you want to punish some bad boys with me?"
"Just give me the time and place, sweetie," Y/N said, putting Nifty down. Nifty quicky ran off.
"She's mostly harmless," Charlie said nervously. "Just don't let her bite you."
"I'll keep that in mind," she laughed.
"This is Husk, our bartender," she said gleefully.
Husk was drinking from a bottle, he nodded at Y/N but didn't say anything.
"It's nice to meet you, Husk," she said politely.
Husk recognized her at second glance, almost spitting out his booze, he decided not to say anything about it, though.
"Oooooo heya Y/N~" said a voice.
Y/N turned around and grinned. "It's nice to see you again Angel Dust,"
"Ohhh it's nice to see you too baby~" he said seductively.
"Oh that's wonderful!" Charlie exclaimed, her eyes sparkilng. "You two know each other!"
"Yeah, we met at a party a while back," Y/N explained. "He kept wantin' to look at a sword that I had just got."
"Y'know babycakes," Angel said, walking over to her. "I could show you my sword, if you want~"
"Another time, Angel," Y/N laughed, Charlie laughed awkwardly with her.
"Well, I think that's it!" Charlie said, clapping her hands together. "I'll show you to your room and if there's anything you need, just-"
"Oh, we have a new guest? Heavens, why didn't anyone tell me?" said a staticky voice.
Y/N turned and saw the infamous Radio Demon standing right behind her. Upon closer inspection, there was a look in his eyes that seemed familiar.
Too familiar.
Y/N had loved looking into those eyes, it had brought comfort to her.
"Oh my gosh! How could I forget!" Charlie said. "Y/N is going to be helping us around the hotel just like you!"
At the mention of her name, something pulled at Alastor's heartstrings.
"Well, we need all the help we can get, that's for certain," Alastor laughed.
That laugh, Y/N had imagined it every single day when she arrived in Hell.
"Y/N, this is our facility mana-"
"Alastor?"
Her voice, it sounded like an angel. Alastor remembered the first time he heard it. Everything clicked into place for the both of them.
"Y/N?"

To scotch the rumors, Natacha joined Rudy in hosting a reception at the Ambassador Hotel for the Spanish painter Federico Beltran-Masses, who had just completed four paintings for them. [...] The forth painting was a sensual portrait called La Gitana, a portrait of a Spanish gypsy reclining seminude likewise in the attitude of Goya's naked muja. Except for the woman's green eyes, La Gitana has the unmistakable features of Natacha. The well-bred Rambova, who was never seen in Hollywood with her hair unbound, brandishing a cigarette, or wearing a short skirt insisted that Beltran-Masses's naked maja be given a name other than her own. It was Rudy's favorite painting, however, one that he would later place above his bed at Falcon Lair.
[...] In Hollywood, Rudy did not want to live alone with his memories at Whitley Heights. He moved into Falcon Lair, even though renovation had not yet been completed. Beltran-Masses kept him company there and gave him painting lessons. The work the actor chose to reproduce in these lessons was La Gitana. I caved and made a Hazbin Hotel oc 🫣
Say hello to Belladonna, aka the Trickster Demon!
Credit to @cheseely for this lovely fanart they made that I referenced for the pose! I’m not familiar with the character, but I was really vibing with their art style 😌💕

So just a couple little things about Bella I'm going to add before I get into her background and such:
Bella is cisgender and uses she/her pronouns
She is also Demiromantic Asexual and is in a QueerPlatonic relationship with Alastor.
Bella is an overlord in Hell but doesn't often attend meetings b/c she can't stand Valentino
Bella runs a section of territory called “Sin Row” which is essentially a large entertainment district. The businesses in the strip range from speakeasies to host/hostess clubs to bars and more. It’s also comprised of both modern and “old-timey” spots likely to attract more customers.
She favours hard liquors like whisky and bourbon, though seems to only like bottles that have reached their peak age (12 years for Whiskey, 15 years for Bourbon). She also appears to enjoy red wine.
When alive, Bella's family were known bootleggers, as they lived during the prohibition, though Bella seems to dislike alcohol that has been diluted, even when she was alive.
Bella’s nickname comes from the fact that she was notorious for lacing food and drinks with a potential mixture of deadly nightshade to eliminate enemies. Ironically, Bella would die by being poisoned.
In life, Belladonna’s name was Allegra Falcone and was the only child of a New York Mafia leader in the 1920’s however, she died before the peak years of Mafia activity. She came from an Italian-American family who lived in and worked out of Brooklyn, New York.
While Bella’s father technically ran the group, many would say Bella was the one who pulled the strings. Bella is a very intelligent, sly, and calculating person which lead to her father often times listening to Bella’s suggestions above anyones. This is mainly because she’s proven that her plans not only work but are good for the families reputation. It’s rare that any of her plans backfired or cast the family in a bad light. Bella is also definitely a daddy’s girl, having been a lot closer to her father in life than to her mother. Bella, however, doesn’t act spoiled or bratty like your typical daddy’s girl; I imagine her father valued hard work and despite spoiling Bella from time to time, he still tried to instil the value of hard work into his daughter.
As Bella's father got up in age, Bella would often take over as a makeshift leader. because of her closeness with her father, none of the other mobsters questioned this. However, some would say that Bella was manipulating her father for a long time so that she would one day be chosen to take over the crime family when her father eventually passed. This would lead to her being called a "fox" due to her sly personality and intelligence. Bella also had an overall mischievous and playful personality which played into her being likened to a fox. This is also why her demon form is based on a fox rather than a spider, like Angel and his family.
In life and in death Bella and Alastor are good friends. Bella would visit New Orleans at least once or twice a year (sometimes more depending on how busy she is) to spend time with Al. I imagine they would go out drinking together when Bella would visit, likely visiting Mimzy’s club more often than not. They also have a lot of similar interests such as enjoying jazz, dancing, hard liquor, cooking, etc.
I also have this stupid little headcanon that Alastor was the Axeman of New Orleans (check out this post for more) before changing his MO and I imagine that’s how they first met in person. Bella would have known of Alastor through his radio show which Bella often listened to, however she only knew of his name.
Ngl, Bella was just in a silly goofy mood when she decided she wanted to go to a town that had an active murderer walking around just to meet her favourite radio host 🤷🏻. Bella absolutely finds the Axeman letter really funny because of how it’s worded and she likes to tease Alastor about it. She doesn’t do it constantly, but if she can make a reference to it somehow she will.
I should also mention that while they were both alive, Belladonna was only a year or two younger than Alastor. However, Belladonna died six years prior Alastor so there is now a larger age gap between them.
Similar to Alastor, Belladonna isn’t a huge fan of modern technology. However, she doesn’t seem to despise it like Alastor does likely because the entertainment district under her control includes very modern establishments. The more modern the club/bar/arcade/etc the more necessary modern technology becomes. Bella will admit that she doesn’t really understand it, and outside of the modern locations, she doesn’t put technology in the places like speakeasies. The closest thing to “modern tech” that she has at these places are security cameras. The club that she personally operates and uses as her base of operations has security cameras alongside a panel of tv’s connected to the cameras so she can monitor things but that’s about it. Bella also owns a smartphone at the suggestion of one of her employees, however she doesn’t really know how to use it. Angel has shown her how to text, take photos, and make phone calls with it, but Bella is uninterested in social media. She literally just uses her smartphone to call people and take pictures 🤧. She does have people who have been hired specifically to make sure all the modern tech is working right and is up to date.
Aside from valuing hard work, Bella views promises very highly. She despises promises breakers and has been known to never break a promise herself. Because she takes promises very seriously, punishments to breaking one are severe especially if one were to break a promise made directly to Belladonna. This is tied directly with her death, as she was poisoned by someone who promised their loyalty to her only to betray her later.
Belladonna’s general personality is very laidback and fun-loving. I imagine her personality is somewhere between Lucifers and Rosie’s; she’s not quite as theatrical and silly as Lucifer but she does have a mischievous side. Bella enjoys joking around with others and often shows her affection through light hearted teasing. Aside from teasing Alastor, Bella has teased Angel for his thin figure while offering him something to eat (this was a one time joke). She also has a love for slight-of-hand/stage magic, being much more impressed by a simple card trick than by actual feats of magic. Husk has used slight-of-hand magic tricks to cheer up Belladonna in the past because he knows she enjoys it.
Likewise, Bella has a soft spot for children and has a motherly side to her. She currently has a young hellhound in her care and has been known to include places like arcades and themed restaurants into her territory to appeal to a younger audience. She’s also really good when it comes to respecting people’s boundaries (with the occasional exception). The biggest example is with Alastor. Bella can be a physically affectionate person -typically touching someone in some way or just standing near people she cares about- but she also knows that Alastor doesn’t like to be touched unless he’s initiated it. Because of this, she often waits for Al to welcome or initiate any sort of physical affection before touching him. She’s usually really good about this, however should she get excited (such as when she saw Alastor after his 7 year “sabbatical”) she may act more impulsively and hug Alastor without thinking first. I imagine that because they’ve been friends for so long and Alastor knows Belladonna is just happy to see him, he doesn’t mind all that much.
She’s also a very welcoming woman and seems to judge people as individuals rather than who they associate with. She was originally wary of Angel due to his association with Valentino, however it didn’t last long after seeing how much he also hates Val. I’m talking, within the same interaction Bella went from being wary of Angel to becoming very caring of him. Bella has even told Angel that, should he need to get away from Val, he is more than welcome to stay within her territory as Valentino is permanently banned from entering the strip.
She also seems to be rather neutral about Hell’s hierarchy. Aside from her having a young hellhound in her care, I imagine she does business outside of the Pride ring such as getting Beelzejuice (and perhaps other alcoholic beverages) from the Gluttony Ring or ordering toys and such from Lust to be used in her clubs. Because of this I imagine she employs both hellborn demons and sinners to work for her directly or in her businesses that way if she needs something from another ring she has people who can leave Pride. She typically hires hellhounds as bouncers, however, they are also hired to take over other jobs where they’re needed (ie. Bartenders, hosts/hostesses, managers, etc). Similarly, Succubi and even Imps can be found holding any working position in any of the establishments throughout Sin Row according to what spots need to be filled. Overall, as long as they are willing to work and aren’t causing trouble, Belladonna couldn’t care less where a demon sits in the hierarchy; she’ll hire whoever she thinks fits the position. She’s also known to treat all of her employees well, making sure they’re paid well, are respected, and have whatever they need.
The only jobs she’s more strick about filling are the spots directly under her within her mafia family. While her normal employees have the Mafia’s protection, they aren’t necessarily considered part of the family and they don’t have to sell their souls to Bella to work for her. The primary members are those who were part of the Falcone family while they were alive, those who have proven their loyalty to Bella, and the souls she currently owns through deals she’s made. Again, no matter what position they hold in the family, Belladonna treats everyone with respect unless they’ve done something to cross her.
Following that; Belladonna is typically an even tempered woman, however when angered she can become explosive. Bella’s club has a large picture window (you know, those windows that replace an outer wall) next to the front doors that have since been set with reinforced glass because she’s thrown tables through it when angry. During the Overlord meeting about the extermination (one of the few meetings Bella went to), Carmilla was relieved that she didn’t have to worry about Bella causing collateral damage as Valentino was not present.
In addition to her explosive temper, Belladonna can hold a nasty grudge. Valentino is the biggest example as Bella can’t stand to hear his name let alone be in the same room as him. I imagine, before his ban, Val would try to recruit Bella’d workers. But with Val being Val, he would become aggressive and violent when he was rejected by whoever he was trying to recruit which would obviously piss off Belladonna. She eventually got sick of the assaults and after a particularly nasty incident Bella permanently banned Valentino from her territory. Even to this day she can’t stand Valentino. In short; Valentino is to Belladonna as Vox is to Alastor.
Given that Helluva Boss and Hazbin are in the same universe, I wouldn’t be surprised if Belladonna and Crimson have some kind of rivalry or animosity going on between them. I can’t think of a specific reason they would dislike each other aside from them having a traditional mafia family rivalry. Or perhaps Bella dislikes Crimson as a person given he’s pretty chauvinistic and sexists; there’s likely been some incident between them where Crimson was sexists and he majorly offended Belladonna. Maybe he said something along the lines of not believing Bella could be an overlord or be in charge of so many crime organisations (I imagine a lot of her deals were done with other mafia families or smaller gangs) because she’s a woman.

Hollywood Forever, formerly known as Hollywood Memorial Park (located at 6000 Santa Monica Blvd), famous for its Permanent Celebrity Residents, had become a desolate ruin, especially after being extensively damaged by the Northridge Earthquake in 1994. It became a horrific disgrace, displaying crumbling walls that exposed open crypts, broken glass, rotting wood (Coffins and Caskets?) and extensive water damage. There were also reports of the stench of decay. The chief architect of this scandal was Jules Roth, a con man, a liar and a thief who stole money from endowment funds and had a wetbar in his cemetery office. He cared nothing for the cemetery or its legendary clients. He forced the cemetery into bankruptcy and some people who were buried there, were exhumed by their surviving relatives and taken to another cemetery. Max Factor was one such person. The State of California brought the Owners up on charges and threatened the Cemetery with closure. However, in 1998 a man named Tyler Cassity bought the property for $375,000.00 and not only made repairs to the place, but also modernized it, bringing it into the 20th Century with the latest technology and gimmicks such as Living Memory, Interviews, Biographical Movies and Webcasts of Funeral Services! Hollywood Forever even has its own website now and can be found here.
And, of course, there are ghosts here. One day, a man was searching for a certain celebrity gravesite in the Abbey Of the Psalms Mausoleum. He asked a quaint looking, old gentleman whom he saw standing in the Foyer where the grave of this person was. The man gave directions. When the other turned around to thank the man, he was gone! He gave a description of the man to a Cemetery Employee and was told that it was Mr. Clifton Webb….who had died of a heart attack in 1966!
The other ghost at Hollywood Forever is not one that you will see, but you might hear it. It has been said that if you wander near the grave of tragic starlet, Virginia Rappe, you might hear a ghostly weeping. She died at the tender age of 25 due to Generalized Peritonitis. However, because she had died after a wild party attended by comedic actor Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, it was thought she had been murdered. Arbuckle was charged with the murder. He was tried for the crime three times and acquitted each time. However, his career was irrevocably ruined.
Rudolph Valentino, who died in 1926 of a ruptured appendix, a perforated ulcer and peritonitis is interred in the Cathedral Mausoleum. A grand tomb was planned for his final resting place and Valentino's body was placed in a temporary crypt until it could be built. Unfortunately, Rudy owed back taxes which set the building of the tomb back about three years. Then, another setback occurred on October 24, 1929. The Stock Market crashed and the world wide Depression began. The tomb was never built. Valentino still rests in that "temporary crypt" to this very day. It has been reported that his ghost has been seen walking thru the rear wall of the cemetery and onto the lot at Paramount Studios, where he has also been seen. According to eye witnesses, he looks around, seems confused and then walks back thru the wall and back into the cemetery. Perhaps his confusion stems from the passage of Time and the changes that have taken place in our world since then. He has also been seen at his former home, known as the Falcon's Lair.

Hi! I don't know why you're here.
This is where I'm putting my Sims Legacy Save information. I've got a game I play in rotation with aging on played households. This has been an evolving thing, and now I've gotten multiple three-generations families.
I started naming the children by generation letter, but not until halfway through second gen in a random household. I mark these now by changing the names, or by notating with (A), (B), (C) etc. as necessary.
The 'official' records are:
Snapshots, where I recap a household at time of switching families
and
Eulogies, where I recap a Sim's lifetime after their deaths.
I sort through these with tags including the last names of First Played Sims of the bloodline. (Pancakes family, Overton Family, etc.)
Last/Family names are combinations of parents' family names. Same-but-different (like the mother and son pair who reproduced with the same person) get remixed (Scales and Beck becomes Scalebeck and Beckscales).
Families always went Teen Daughter, Child Son in the beginning. I tried to go by household, but it turns out that those constantly change in ways that don't record well. ^ ^;

La Fiesta del Deporte de Rafaela, en su edición número 26, reunió a atletas, familias y amigos en una velada dedicada a destacar los logros deportivos locales, provinciales, nacionales e internacionales. El intendente Leonardo Viotti encabezó el evento, junto al subsecretario de Deportes y Recreación, Hugo Morel, y otros funcionarios.

This year, The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Benefit Gala aka The Met Gala falls this year on Monday, May 1st 2023.
This year, the theme is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” in honor of the late designer.

A Brothers of Italy politician who was once photographed wearing a Nazi swastika armband is among the junior ministers appointed in Giorgia Meloni’s government.
Galeazzo Bignami, named undersecretary at the infrastructure ministry, caused controversy after a photograph of him wearing the armband was published by an Italian newspaper in 2016. The photo dated back to his stag party in 2005, and after it initially emerged in the press he shrugged the gesture off as “lighthearted” fun.
Bignami, a 47-year-old lawyer, secured a second term in parliament in the late September general election won by a coalition led by Meloni’s Brothers of Italy – a party that traces its origins back to the neofascist Italian Social Movement (MSI).
On Monday, Bignami said he felt “profound shame” over the Nazi armband photo while firmly condemning “any form of totalitarianism” and describing nazism as “the absolute evil”.
In another incident in 2019, Bignami published a photo on social media of the names of foreign residents listed on the intercom of a council-owned apartment building in Bologna, saying he “couldn’t give a shit” about their privacy.
His appointment was condemned by the Italian anti-fascism association, Anpi, and opposition politicians including Marco Furfaro, a deputy with the Democratic party who called it “an offence, an indecency against the constitution, history, memory and victims of the swastika”.
Furfaro added: “Shame on you Giorgia Meloni.”
Bignami is not the only minister whose appointment has drawn criticism. Claudio Durigon, who proposed renaming a park in the Lazio town of Latina after the brother of Benito Mussolini, the Italian fascist dictator, is now an undersecretary at the labour ministry.
Durigon, a politician with the far-right League, a junior partner in Meloni’s government, was forced to resign as an economy ministry undersecretary last summer over his proposal to replace the names of the assassinated anti-mafia judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino with Arnaldo Mussolini, whom the park was originally named after.
Meanwhile, Isabella Rauti, the daughter of Pino Rauti, who was an official within MSI, a party established in 1946 by Mussolini’s supporters, has been named a junior minister for families and births.
Despite the appointments, Meloni, who in the past has praised Mussolini, continues to reiterate that she has no fascist sympathies.
When a journalist from La Stampa asked for her reaction to the thousands of Mussolini admirers who converged on the dictator’s home town of Predappio over the weekend to mark the 100th anniversary of his march on Rome, Meloni replied: “You know what I think. It is something that is politically very distant from me. You always return to this [question], and you can ask it again, but my response will always be the same.”
Other junior appointments include Valentino Valentini, a politician from the former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia, another member of Meloni’s coalition, who over the years has nurtured ties with Russia, at the ministry of economic development.
Lucia Borgonzoni, a former culture minister who in 2018 said she had not read a book in three years, is back at the ministry, as is Vittorio Sgarbi, a close friend of Berlusconi who served as cultural minister in his second government.
