Dhenkanal (Odisha):
A two-seater aircraft crashed in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Monday, killing a trainee pilot and her instructor, officials said.
The trainer aircraft crashed on the tarmac at the Government Aviation Training Institute (GATI) at Birasala in the district, Additional District Magistrate (ADM), Dhenkanal, BK Nayak, said.
The two were taken to a nearby hospital in Kamakhyanagar, where doctors declared them dead, BK Nayak said.
Senior police and district officials are at the spot and a probe into the accident would be conducted.
The accident might have occurred due to a technical glitch, officials said.
Inspector-in-Charge of Kamakhyanagar Police Station, A Dalua, said the trainer was a man and the identities of the dead were being ascertained.

After failing repeatedly to tranquilise tigress ‘Sundari’, the Odisha Forest Department has decided to take the help of elephant ‘Yashoda’ for the purpose.The pachyderm was being taken from Chandaka forest to Satkosia in a truck this evening. Members of the tranquilliser team will ride atop the jumbo and shoot tranquiliser at the big cat, sources said.Two tranquilliser teams from Pench and Kanha tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh are already at the spot trying to tranquilise the tigress. The Odisha Forest Department had requested its Madhya Pradesh counterpart to send two teams to capture ‘Sundari’.The tigress was relocated from Madhya Pradesh’s Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve to Satkosia wildlife sanctuary on June 28 in a pilot inter-state transfer project to increase the big cat population in Odisha.However, locals are demanding shifting of the tigress from the forest after it allegedly killed an elderly man, Trinath Sahu, on October 21 at Tainsi village.
