[A collection of headcanons on what kind of music I imagine the characters of “Shokugeki no Soma” would be into by creating playlists with songs I feel they’d like]

Yeah, I have a new project no one asked for. But the idea suddenly stroke me and then I got super hyped to do it?? Well, I can only hope others will find a liking in it as well 😅

Anyways, some brief explanation on my choices:

Soma: I think he’d mostly listen to recent, modern songs but thanks to his dad he also got introduced to some 80s classics as well. Given his personality, I also filled his playlist with upbeat songs.

Erina: I 100% think Alice would make playlists for Erina and I believe she’d fill it with songs she knows Erina likes, but also pepper in some modern music to introduce her cousin to new things. I really don’t know why...but I just believe Erina would mostly be into very old stuff ahfhhf.

Megumi: This is the softest-sounding playlist I ever created and of course it’s for the softest baby-girl we know. I think she’d mostly listen to comforting, calm stuff that puts her at ease & has an adorable beat, really.

Takumi: He was the most challenging one out of these 4 & I don’t fully know either why he just ended up with a romance-song playlist, haha. I kinda just went by feeling, ig?

I got the second batch done way quicker than I thought I would!

Alice: I honestly think that Alice would have so many playlists for all kinds of scenarios. My guess is that Alice can listen to a lot but she would mostly be into modern music and songs that have empowering and/or sassy texts & just frankly make her feel powerful.

Ryo: We all agree that Ryo is into Rock & Metal...right? Like that’s just a consensus.......right? His theme in the anime is very rocky itself after all and yeah, I can personally picture it perfectly.

Hisako: Given what we learned about Hisako’s movie tastes through her profile, I believe that her music taste would be much on the retro and classic side as well! (With one Electroswing Track having sneaked it’s way onto her playlist as well.)

Akira: Hayama...was challenging. I think he wouldn’t exactly listen to very loud stuff but not essentially very soft stuff either. I sorta tried to catch a certain vibe I can’t really describe myself with his playlist. I do think, he’d enjoy a mix of modern songs and songs from older decades though!

[A collection of headcanons on what kind of music I imagine the characters of “Shokugeki no Soma” would be into by creating playlists with songs I feel they’d like]

I just really wanted to get them done because...yeah ahdhd. So here they are! We have some of the senpais at last! Yay!!

Nene Kinokuni: I’ve kept these playlists mostly English so far, but with Nene I think the Western music, she’d appreciate the most would honestly be classical music shshd. Nene’s playlist consists mostly of instrumental songs, because I just feel this would be what she’d listen to in her free time....I tried my best!

Satoshi Isshiki: “Yellow Submarine” came on when I was listening to smth on shuffle and I was like “I’m going to put this on Isshiki’s playlist” and from that point on, it sorta became a chill playlists of mostly 70s songs? I don’t know exactly why, but I feel he’d like songs like this...?

Terunori Kuga: Kuga was honestly the most challenging out of this bunch, because I can picture Kuga enjoying a great many things...he’s just so chaotic ahdhd. Given his hyper personality, I searched mostly for upbeat songs from various decades and also tried to include some Guilty Pleasure stuff. Because in my headcanon, Kuga is just a meme-lord.

Etsuya Eizan: Eizan’s theme in the anime (”Alchemist”) is much on the rock-side, so...ultimately I just think he’d listen to Rock as well? Given the title “de-stress playlist”, I eventually structured the playlist like: “loud things you can be angry to” -> “soft Rock to calm down” -> “one motivational pop song” because that idea was just very funny to me, I’m sorry. And I wanted to fit “Gold” by Spandau Ballet there somewhere. But yeah, ultimately? He listens mainly to Rock imho.

I tried my best.

Ikumi Mito - Given that she has a romantic side stored in her, I think she’d love romantic-themed songs. Genre-wise, I can see Ikumi being into HipHop and/or R’n’B elements! Maybe also some Latin. As I also see her as an avid dancer, I tried to include some fast tunes that are good to dance to. Anyway, this is kind off the ✨ vibe ✨ I tried to capture ig?

Isami Aldini - As Isami’s a very chill and laidback person, I mostly leaned towards relaxing Chill-hop! Based on a suggestion of @tailsisfluffy I also included some Italian songs as well ;v; But generally speaking, I wanted to get a calm ✨vibeeee✨

Shoji Sato - Shoji just gives off the ✨ vibe ✨ that he’s into Rap/HipHop. So I went with that ✨ vibe ✨. I also mixed it with some classics for parties, given the Polar Star Dorm’s love for partying. Anyways yes, ✨vibes✨

Daigo Aoki - The first thing I thought when laying eyes upon Daigo was “he looks like Elvis”. Based on this, I firmly believe that Daigo does actually favors Rock ‘n’ Roll from the 50s to 60s. No one can change my mind.

[A collection of headcanons on what kind of music I imagine the characters of “Shokugeki no Soma” would be into by creating playlists with songs I feel they’d like]

I made moar. Ryoko & Zenji were a bit of a challenge but I tried my best hahd.

Ryoko Sakaki: I feel she would be into R’n’B for some reason, but there would also be the occasional pop-ballads that would sneak theirselves on her playlist. I think her favorite singer woulds be Madonna (for Pop) & Mariah Carey (for R’nB)

Shun Ibusaki: Shun is also into Rock. His hair looks like he is into it. Don’t question me ahdhd. In contrast to Ryo, I also included some more modern Rock songs although Shun does also like some of the classics ofc.

Yuki Yoshino: Being the sunshine that she is, I just felt that a playlist of Yuki’s would be filled with energetic, mood-lifting pop songs. As she is also a little party-mouse, I also think she’d especially love songs that do well on parties and karaoke-classics.

Zenji Marui: Zenji would be mostly into outdated stuff...I think? At least when it comes to songs that have vocals ahdhd A part of me just wanted to make him a lofi-playlist tbh shdfh but meep, then I thought it might be more interesting to think what he’d listen to when not studying perhaps? Idk, I largely went by feeling and the playlist ultimately filled itself with dramatic 80s songs (TM) for the most part, haha. But for good measure I also included...two modern songs I guess.
