Photography: Summertime in Quarantined New York
Last night, I got a last minute ride — and it was a wonderful occasion to get out of my neighborhood and to take some photos. So because of the Summer Solstice, we’ll tentatively call this Summertime in Quarantined New York. This nighttime photo session included stops at Nathan’s Famous on Coney Islandand Time Square. And yes, I had a hot dog, some…

Sunday was a pretty quiet day for me. I had a late breakfast of grits, bacon and coffee with my mom, watched a dreadful New York Yankee loss in Baltimore against the Orioles on TV and worked on a post. It was a gorgeous, late summer afternoon so I decided to shower, get dressed and take my camera with me for a brief walk.
Check out some…

I went for a walk with the hopes that I’d be able to stop somewhere for a pint of Guinness but that wound up being a futile and ridiculous endeavor — because, well, Queens, But it wasn’t a total waste as I wound up taking some photos while walking through Corona, Rego Park and Forest Hills.

Summer in Quarantined New York, Part 9
Part of this particular edition of my ongoing Summer in Quarantined New York series was taken on a rainy and chilly August afternoon in Forest Hills. The second part was taken on a gorgeous August afternoon and evening stroll through Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. Check out photos below.
One of the oddest things about Flushing Meadows-Corona Park is the fact…

As I mentioned in a previous post, I haven’t been going out for as many walks as I was earlier this year. We’ve had a few heatwaves with 90º+ weather throughout this summer, which has made the idea of walking around for hours seem highly unpleasant. And lately, I’ve felt as though I’ve photographed all the interesting things in the neighborhood.…

I haven’t been going for as many walks as I was earlier this year. We’ve had a couple of heatwaves over the past few weeks that has made the idea of walking around — even if it’s to shoot — highly unpleasant. And I haven’t felt all that inspired. I’ve pretty much photographed all the interesting things I could in the neighborhood and until I feel…

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve been adhering to social distancing guidelines and quarantines as much as humanly possible. For most of the pandemic, my trips outside the apartment building were limited to a handful of things: going to the supermarket, post office, pharmacy or mom’s medical appointments — with an occasional walk…

I’ve been adhering to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines since the beginning of this pandemic — and as a result, it means I’ve generally been in my apartment or relegated to what I can do within reasonable walking distance without a car. Yesterday, I was sitting in my apartment, and I was getting antsy. I wanted to look at something else other…

Photography: Summer in Quarantined New York Part 2
We’ve just passed the second full week of summer and this season has been deeply disappointing for all the reasons it should be: COVID-19 related lockdowns have reduced options and opportunities for so many. If you’re seething with rage and dissatisfaction,  you’re probably  going out of your mind with boredom — or it’s a mix of both.
I haven’t…
