Favourite fantasy book series
I'm due for a reread for several, if not most of these, and I'm really interested to see how they rank with other people!
So please vote for your favourite of these and let me know which ones I've missed!
In no particular order:
The Lord of the Rings isn't on there because it has the uncontested top place in my heart, mind and soul forever and ever anyways and I can't chance it not taking first place in a poll on my blog, I would probably literally cry.

The Summoned ones - book review

(AF) The Summoned Ones by Darryl A. Woods
I had high hopes for The Summoned Ones. The premise sounded intriguing and reminded me of Guy Gavriel Kay’s The Fionovar Tapestry. I hoped it’d be an engaging adventure blurring our world with a magical one.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The two worlds blended but, from the very start, the pacing was slow, the characters flat and the lack of tension failed to hold my attention.
There were a lot of key characters: eight chosen friends, a couple of commanders, a blacksmith and a few clerics, to name but a few. So many characters made it increasingly difficult to connect or empathise with any; you didn’t get to know anyone. It’s difficult to explore even the main characters: remaining in groups gave them little opportunity to distinguish themselves as individuals.
