4 Key Features of the 2021 Chevy Colorado
If you know you want a Chevrolet pickup truck, but the Silverado seems a bit bigger than what you need, we have the perfect vehicle for you! The 2021 Chevy Colorado provides the practicality and versatility you want from a pickup, but without the bulky, cumbersome frame. Let’s take a look at why the Chevy Colorado is an excellent option.
1. Functional Engine Options
When it comes to deciding what’s under the hood of your Colorado, you can choose from two different engine options. The standard engine is a traditional four-cylinder, providing 200 horsepower and the capability of hauling up to 5,500 pounds. It’s the perfect amount of power for the Chevy Colorado and will easily accomplish your daily tasks.
If you want to turn up the power, then take a look at the V6 engine. At 308 horsepower, it can tow up to a solid 7,000 pounds, definitely a better choice for anyone planning on hauling a trailer or boat.
2. Choose the Z71 for Off-Road Adventuring
If you want to take a ride off the beaten path, you’ll love the Colorado Z71. The suspension is upgraded from the base model and also comes with all-wheel drive. You’ll love the easy handling and how the Z71 rolls effortlessly across all types of terrain.
There’s also the Colorado ZR2 and ZR2 Bison available for your consideration. These upgrades feature rock sliders and skid plates to protect your vehicle in even the roughest terrain. Multi-latic shocks and front and rear electronic differentials set you up for a great adventure. The ZR2 Bison brings additions like recovery points and 17″ inch wheels.
3. Phenomenal Sound System
Blasting some tunes on a road trip will bring a smile to your face as you watch the miles roll by. All Chevy Colorado models have high-quality Bose sound system upgrades available. With seven speakers built into the cabin, a built-in equalizer provides a crisp, clear musical experience. The standard stereo is top-notch as well, but if you’re a music aficionado, you’ll want to spring for the upgraded version.
4. Perfect for Teen Drivers
The Chevy Colorado is current on all the modern safety technology that keeps you safe on every drive. However, they also bring an extra feature that many competitors do not offer. Parents love the Teen Driver System, which is designed to help keep teen drivers safe on the road, and help discourage reckless choices. The system works by allowing parents or guardians the ability to put a cap on the speedometer, limiting how fast teens can go.
This feature prevents teens from exceeding safe driving speeds and brings peace of mind to parents, who can be assured their teens will not be enticed into racing. The Chevy Colorado can also send information about the driver’s road habits directly to your phone. These updates allow you to keep track f your teen’s driving behaviors and encourage safe choices.
The Chevy Colorado makes a fantastic truck for both experienced and inexperienced drivers. With its easy handling and modern features, you’ll wish you’d bought one sooner! Head over to Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet and take one for a drive today!

4 Smart Strategies to Avoid Car Accidents
Car accidents can happen no matter how good of a driver or how experienced you are. Thankfully the majority of accidents can be avoided by driving within the speed limit, staying focused, and following the rules of the road. While safe driving practices may seem straightforward, many drivers ignore them or sometimes forget. Even though there are no guarantees you won't get into an accident, you can increase your chances of avoiding accidents if you follow some simple strategies.
1. Keep Distractions to a Minimum
There are many distractions when you drive, but it only takes a little planning to remove many of these. Turn your phone off before you head out on the road and put it in a place where you won't be tempted to check it. You can also plan your route ahead of time, so you're not searching your navigation system for directions, and take the time to get your music set.
Passengers can also be distracting, so set rules for the kids, and if you have adult passengers, keep your eyes on the road while chatting with them.
2. Keep Your Distance
Rear-end collisions are common whether you hit someone in front of you or get hit by someone from behind. The best way to avoid this type of collision is to keep your distance from the vehicle in front of you. Stay far enough behind so you have time to stop, even if they suddenly slam on their brakes. A good rule of thumb is to stay three seconds behind in good driving conditions, but allow even longer if you have a heavy vehicle and extend the time even more if the roads are wet or slippery.
3. Drive For the Weather
Even if you are the only vehicle on the road, you need to adjust your driving habits to match the weather conditions. Whether it's raining and the roads are wet, or it's snowing, and they're slippery, it's important to slow down so you can maintain control of the vehicle. You should also know what to do if you find your car slipping on icy roads or if you hydroplane on a wet road.
4. Don't Speed Through Intersections
Always use caution when driving through an intersection. Intersections are where many accidents take place because drivers don't take the right precautions. Always look left, then right, and make sure to look left again before entering to make sure that the area is completely clear. Even if you have the green light, you should look to make sure no other driver is running through their red light. Distracted drivers might miss a stop sign, and many try to make it through on a yellow light. When you approach a yellow light, use caution instead of speeding up to get through the intersection.
These are just a few standard tips you can follow to help avoid car accidents. If you pay attention to the road and pay attention to other drivers, you will limit your chances of getting into a crash. To make sure your car is in the safest condition, stop by Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet in Rigby, ID so our certified technicians can make sure that your car can keep you safe.

How Often Should You Get a Chevy Oil Change?
Just like you need to go to the doctor annually for routine checkups, your vehicle needs to come in for routine maintenance to ensure it remains healthy. One of the most important things you can do for the health of your vehicle is scheduling regular oil changes. Today, we're looking at how often you should schedule a Chevy oil change and why it should be performed at your local Chevy dealer in Rigby, ID.
You should have the oil in your Chevy changed every 3,000 to 12,500 miles. If you usually drive under harsh conditions, you should schedule your oil change every 3,000 miles if you choose conventional motor oil or 10,000 miles if you choose synthetic motor oil.
If you usually drive under normal conditions, you should schedule your oil change every 5,000 miles if you choose conventional motor oil. If you choose synthetic motor oil and usually drive under normal conditions, you should schedule your oil change every 12,500 miles.
Why Should You Visit Your Local Chevy Dealer in Rigby, ID?
It is important to have your oil changed by a certified Chevy technician because he won't just change your oil. He will also ensure the rest of your vehicle is in good working order before you drive it off of the lot. Here are some of the other services you can expect to get with your oil change.
Air Filter Check
Your local certified Chevy technician will also check your air filter. Your fuel efficiency will decrease significantly if your air filter is clogged. However, you don't just run the risk of spending more time at the gas pump if you don't have your air filter checked regularly. There is also a significant chance that dust and larger debris will start to circulate throughout your motor, damaging it.
Brake Fluid Check
Your local certified Chevy tech will also check your brake fluid level after your oil change is complete. Since fluid can't be compressed, when you apply pressure to your brake pedal and the brake pedal applies pressure to your brake fluid, the pressure is transferred to your brakes.
Unfortunately, if there isn't enough brake fluid in your brake system, too much pressure is applied to your brakes. This is bad for your brakes and potentially dangerous. We will top off your brake fluid level if it is too low and look for a leak in the system.
Battery Check
Your battery will also be tested after your oil change.
Having your oil changed regularly is essential for the health of your motor. Depending on the type of motor oil used and the conditions under which you regularly drive, you should schedule your oil change every 3,000 to 12,500 miles. If you haven't had an oil change in the past few months, don't put it off any longer. Contact us today at Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet to schedule an appointment with our service department.

While you might be forgiven for not realizing it, the area of southeast Idaho around Rigby, ID is world-renowned for its fishing. Even if fishing isn't one of your favorite pastimes, or if you never picked up a rod before, you'll still enjoy the beautiful natural scenery around you at these excellent fishing spots; and who knows? You might just get lucky and catch supper, although do check whether fish from the water body you're fishing on are safe to eat.
1. Snake River
The famed Snake River and its various branches are renowned for their fishing potential, with a multitude of opportunities to hunt for trophy bass, trout, and even the occasional carp. The section of the river immediately south of Rigby, between Idaho Falls and Blackfoot, is especially productive when it comes to fishing for brown trout. The fall is the best time to go after this species when the large fish in this region begin to spawn.
Fishing in this section is best with drift and jet boats, and streamers and nymphs are often used to catch the trout, which can often achieve trophy sizes. If you're going after other species, then head on a little further downstream to the section between Blackfoot and American Falls Reservoir, where, apart from the prolific species of trout such as cutthroat and rainbow, you can expect to catch bass and sturgeon.
2. Ririe Reservoir
Located to the southeast of Rigby, Ririe Reservoir is an especially good place to fish if you have access to a boat or canoe, as the choice of bank areas is quite limited. However, you might be able to find a much-coveted dock to drop your hook from. The center of the reservoir is significantly deeper, and many species of fish lurk in the depths.
Species found here include rainbow trout, which are easily caught from either the bank or the shore, often with nightcrawlers or canned corn. Kokanee salmon can be found here too and will often school approximately 20 feet from the bottom in open water, where they are readily caught by trolling a line from a boat.
3. Rigby (Jefferson County) Lake
Situated on the northern edge of town, this small pond will be well known to Rigby residents. The lake is regularly stocked with rainbow trout, which are often caught from the open shoreline. Again, a boat of some description will serve you well here, but there's ample fishing space to be found from the shore.
The lake is stocked in June every year, making this the time to go for an easy catch, whereas later in the year will produce bigger fish and the occasional large holdover from the year before.
This list includes some of our favorite places to fish, but there's plenty more out there. Snake River in particular has plenty of places to try. Need a new vehicle to carry all your fishing gear, and hopefully your catch? Then visit us today at Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet, and we'll be more than happy to help.

5 Key Features of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
The 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe has undergone a complete redesign. The redesign introduced many new features and upgraded most of the old ones, so now this vehicle is closer to being perfect than ever before. From a roomier interior to a smoother ride, you'll love the changes that were made in the Chevrolet Tahoe, and the key features will blow you away.
1. The Third-Row Comfort
Many competitors have vastly uncomfortable third-row seating. In many SUVs, the third row can only fit children, and some can only fit small children. Thankfully, this is a problem that the Chevrolet Tahoe doesn't have. There are nearly 35 inches of legroom in the third row, so adults can fit in comfort. There's also enough headroom for adults to sit up straight.
Having nine adults fit into your vehicle is an asset if you like traveling with friends. It's also useful as your kids grow and blossom into tall teenagers.
2. The Impressive Towing Ability
The Chevrolet Tahoe beats out most mid-size pickup trucks when it comes to towing ability. Many mid-size pickup trucks can tow around 7,500 pounds, but the Chevrolet Tahoe can tow 8,400 pounds when it's equipped with the standard engine and the Max Trailering Package. You can tow 8,300 pounds with the 6.2-liter V8 engine.
Having a vehicle that beats out mid-size SUVs in terms of towing capacity is mightily impressive, but then again, it's what you'd expect from Chevy. Chevrolet vehicles almost always beat the competition when it comes to towing.
3. The Independent Rear Suspension
The new Chevrolet Tahoe is equipped with an independent rear suspension, and this lets the vehicle provide a lower load floor and more stability when you're carrying cargo. The independent resuspension provides smoother ride quality, too.
4. The Enormous Cargo Area
The Chevrolet Tahoe has a cargo area that can easily handle your family's needs and more. The independent rear suspension allows the vehicle to have a larger cargo area than ever, as it can handle more weight. There are 25 cubic feet of cargo space by default, but you can expand this by folding down the third row. You have access to 72 cubic feet with the third row folded flat.
If you want the highest cargo capacity that that Chevrolet Tahoe is capable of providing, then you can fold down both back rows. This gives you 123 cubic feet of space.
5. The Quiet Cabin
Your cabin can get loud when you're traveling with kids, so you really don't need road and wind noise adding to that noise. Thankfully, the cabin is wonderfully absent of outside noise, even if you're driving at highway speeds. There's acoustic laminated glass in the windshield and windows, so that helps keep external noise at a minimum.
Having a quiet cabin is particularly useful if you have young kids who need to nap during long journeys. They can sleep soundly without worrying about being woken by the sound of roaring winds rattling through the cabin.
The Chevy Tahoe looks great on paper, but it looks incredible in person. Come by Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet to see one for yourself.

3 Popular Features of the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500
You need a full-size light-duty pickup truck that is tough enough to handle any job. You need a diesel-powered six-cylinder motor and hundreds of horses under the hood. You need a 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. There's a lot to love about this truck. Here are three of the most popular features.
1. Horsepower
You're not buying a truck for its rugged aesthetic. You're buying a truck for what it can do for you. The tested and proven 5.3L V8 motor that comes in the 2021 Silverado 1500 generates 355 hp and an impressive 383 lb.-ft. of torque. Additionally, when configured correctly, you can get up to 420 horsepower out of this durable truck.
With this much horsepower under the hood, you can tow up to 9,700 pounds. This means you can tow your buddy's less reliable truck when it breaks down on him, leaving him stranded. You can also tow a small horse trailer, camper, or car carrier with multiple cars loaded. The best part about this truck is you can even tow a large travel trailer, fully loaded with cargo, supplies, and creature comforts to make your adventure enjoyable.
2. Range
You don't have time to fill up on your way to work after dropping your daughter off at school. Luckily, you won't even have to fill your tank up once per week if you choose the 2021 Silverado 1500. If you opt for a regular cab, you will get a 28.3-gallon fuel tank. If you opt for a double cab, you'll get a 24-gallon fuel tank.
Either way, you can expect an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. In other words, at worst, you can expect to get 552 on a single tank of diesel. However, if you're going on a road trip, you can expect to go well over 800 miles without filling up if you buy a regular cab truck. With a double cab truck, you can go 792 miles before you have to stop and fill your fuel tank.
3. Comfort
If you're looking for a comfortable truck, the 2021 Silverado 1500 has you covered. The seats included in the lower trims are comfortable enough for long drives with plenty of padding and support. However, we love the GM-exclusive ventilated and split-heated front seats. You can choose to heat the seat cushion, the seatback, or both.
With its 5.3L V8 motor, the 2021 Silverado 1500 is SAE-certified at 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. With this much power under the hood, you can tow anything you want. It also has the range to get you where you need to go. If you're going on vacation, you won't even need to fill up once per day.
If you're in the market for a new truck, we've got you covered. Come see us today at Tad Jenkins Chevrolet. We'll help get you into a truck that meets your needs.
