Well, 2023 has been officially kicked off with an Alan Bates marathon, three films on the 1st. Not a bad start to the year. Not a bad start at all.

The Shout 1978
I don't remember ever knowing about this movie, what a treat. Young Tim Curry is making me cry a little bit. Time passes! Life is short but days are long. Phew! Anyway.
there's an anti-traveler bias here but it's used to fuck the rich people over so that's something, I guess. Mainly this is about enjoying to see all these 20th century lights, Rachel Fielding, Alan Bates, John Hurt, Tim Curry, doing their thing unashamedly as disgusting upper crust brits.
It does bring to mind like how one of the enduring complaints by rich people about poor people for time immemorial in every land I've ever known: the rich are mad at the poor for not loving them and not worshiping them. It must be a lonely and grim world to be born into, imagining that people want your things and never knowing well enough to envy relationships.

Hey all, you know how internet searches suck now? When the results are awful, full-of-AI, death-of-the-internet levels of bad?
Start appending date constraints to your searches - "before:2023".
My results have gone from 90% AI bullshit to ~60% usable - which frankly at this point is a huge improvement.

Having your own personal blog is honestly quite a nice change of pace compared to Reddit. I could put a funny GIF of George Bush getting hit by a shoe on here and the worse case scenario is that no one even notices.
You put that on a big subreddit and you get your eyes gouged out and a heap of political discourse underneath your post.

"You can't be a lurker on tumblr." Yes, you absolutely can. I've been quietly reblogging things since 2014 and I haven't interacted with anyone in years.
