Here's an idea for a full fanfiction story I have in mind:

"Sparrows", a crossover and Avengers team-up between female characters from animated media.

It's a reboot with all of them that places them all in the same time but also keeps the settings ageless where they could be taking place in any time instead of deciding on a time period.

Today offered yet more evidence that Biden’s rejection of the Republicans’ supply-side economics in favor of investing in ordinary Americans is paying off with high growth, low unemployment, and strong wages.

Today’s jobs report from the U.S. Department of Labor for the month of March showed higher job growth than analysts anticipated. Instead of the 214,000 jobs expected, the U.S. added 303,000. The government also revised its estimate of job growth in January and February upward by a combined number of 22,000. President Joe Biden noted that this report meant that the administration had created more than 15 million jobs since he took office.

The unemployment rate was also good, dropping slightly to 3.8% in March. According to economist Steven Rattner of Morning Joe, the United States has now had 26 consecutive months—more than two years—of unemployment under 4%, the longest stretch of unemployment that low since the late 1960s.

Rattner pointed out that immigrants have helped to push U.S. growth since the pandemic by adding millions of new workers to the labor market. As native-born workers have aged into retirement, immigrants have taken their places and “been essential to America’s post-COVID labor market recovery.”

Heather Long of the Washington Post added that wage growth has been 4.1% in the past year, which is well above the 3.2% inflation rate.

“My plan is growing the economy from the middle out and the bottom up, investing in all Americans, and giving the middle class a fair shot,” Biden said in response to the new jobs report. That system, which resurrects the economy the United States enjoyed between 1933 and 1981, has been a roaring success.

Biden was in Baltimore, Maryland, today, where he flew over the remains of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge, spoke with the response teams there, and met with the families of those who died when the bridge fell. Apparently trying to demonstrate that government can be both efficient and effective, the administration has emphasized speed and competence in its response to the bridge collapse of March 26, 2024.

Kayla Tausche of CNN reported today that the U.S. Coast Guard was onsite within minutes of the collapse, and that Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was working the phone as soon as he heard. He had spoken with Maryland governor Wes Moore, Baltimore mayor Brandon Scott, and White House chief of staff Jeff Zients by 5:00 a.m. Biden was briefed early that morning, before he began to reach out to state and local leaders.

Baltimore County executive Johnny Olszewski told Tausche: “[Biden] demonstrated a clear understanding of the importance of the port, had a real empathy for myself and all the individuals impacted…. And he was unequivocal that he was going to do whatever he can, legally and within his power to expedite a response.”

The collapse of the bridge not only affected traffic around Baltimore, but also shut the Port of Baltimore. For 13 years, that port has led the nation in carrying cars and light trucks, as well as tractors and cranes, handling more than 847,000 vehicles in 2023. In that same year, the port handled more than 444,000 passengers and $80 billion worth of foreign cargo. The damage to the port is of national significance.

Less than four hours after it received an official request for funding for repairs on March 29, the Department of Transportation authorized funds to begin to address immediate needs, which officials say is a record. The Army Corps of Engineers says it expects to restore a narrow navigation channel for use by the end of April and to have the port reopened fully by the end of May. Until then, the federal government is improving the infrastructure at nearby Sparrows Point to enable it to handle more ships.

But the Republican Party remains committed to the idea that the government must be kept small and that private enterprise must be privileged over public investments. Today, the far-right House Freedom Caucus announced that it would not consider funding the bridge repairs until foreign shipping companies had paid in all they owe (Biden has called for funding the bridge immediately rather than waiting for insurance funds, which will come much later).

They also say that they want the repairs to come out of money Congress has appropriated for other initiatives they dislike, that any new funds must be fully offset by other cuts, and that “burdensome regulations” such as labor agreements must be waived “to avoid all unnecessary delays and costs.”

They are also demanding that Biden reverse the administration’s “pause on approvals of liquified natural gas export terminals” before Congress will consider any funding for the bridge reconstruction. In January, under pressure from climate activists, Biden paused the construction of such terminals. Liquid natural gas is a valuable export, but it is also made up primarily of methane, a greenhouse gas significantly worse for the planet than carbon dioxide. Oil and gas interests are strongly in favor of developing the liquid natural gas industry while ignoring its effects on climate change.

One of the proposed plants affected by the pause would have been the largest in the U.S. It is planned for Louisiana, the home state of House speaker Mike Johnson. Johnson has already tried to tie funding for Ukraine to lifting the pause on liquid natural gas export terminals, and the White House refused. Now, apparently, extremist Republicans are trying the same gambit with repairs to the Francis Scott Key Bridge and access to one of the nation’s most important ports, although slowing repairs at that key juncture will directly affect many of their constituents.

Indeed, despite the solid demonstration that government support for ordinary Americans is the best way to build the economy, Republicans continue to maintain that the way to promote economic growth is to concentrate money among a few men at the top of the economic ladder. The idea is that those few people will invest their money more efficiently than the government can, and that the businesses they create will employ more and more workers. To that end, Republicans since 1981 have focused on tax cuts and deregulation in order to give those they see as job creators a free hand.

That system, so-called “supply-side economics,” has never actually worked, but it has become an article of faith for Republicans. It is a system that is popular with the very wealthy, and Biden called that out today in a video he recorded with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

In the video, the two men comment on a video clip in which former president Trump, speaking at a private event, promises wealthy donors another tax cut. Biden says: “That’s everything you need to know about Donald Trump. When he thinks the cameras aren’t on, he tells his rich friends, ‘We’re gonna give you tax cuts.’”

Galleryyuhself - DECLARING DIEGO MARTIN THE HOME OF CALYPSOMEDIA RELEASE

There are 300+ Trinidad-style Carnivals all over planet Earth. The two largest festivals in the western world are Trini-styled Carnivals- London’s Notting Hill, and Brooklyn’s Labour Day- which, at their height, had over 4 million people on the streets! Calypso has been the root and has profoundly influenced the trajectory of many forms of popular music from Afrobeat, Ska, Rock Steady, Dancehall, and Reggaeton, to Afro Beats and EDM, etc. The first platinum album in the world was Calypso by Harry Belafonte beating out Rock N Roll and Elvis. After Jazz and before Pop, America was contemplating making Calypso its next popular music… Millions of people across the world move to the pulse of its variant forms- Soca, Chutney, and more…

All of this impact was born in a cave at the top of Diego Martin out of the voice of one genius enslaved African called Gros Jean… On Thursday 9th February at 10:30am a group of citizens, historians, Calypsonians and estates of Calypsonians made the historic declaration that ‘’Diego Martin is the Home of Calypso’ at the Azure Room in IMAX, Starting with the phrase, ‘’As this is the ‘Mother of All Carnivals’ we would like to make the ‘Mother of all Carnival Declarations’’ the Artists’ Coalition of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) in collaboration with series of Diego Martin citizen organisations, and the estates of some of T&T’s most illustrious Kings of Calypso are pursuing an initiative to have Diego Martin branded ‘the Home of Calypso’.

The fascinating claim emerges out of a strange confluence of cultural phenomena observed by ACTT president Rubadiri Victor whilst doing historical research for a Cultural Mapping exercise for Diego Martin as part of a Commonwealth Foundation grant project in 2016.The reasons behind the claim are the following: The first 6 or so Calypsonians ever in the historical record came from slave plantations in Diego.

Records have shown that during the late 1700s, the first Calypsonians originated from the Begorrat Slave Plantation in Covigne Hill, Diego Martin- with the first Calypsonian on record being the enslaved African “Gros Jean” a singer of extraordinary talent. The tomb of Gros Jean- the first Calypsonian- is located at the corner of Covigne Road and Richardson Street in Diego Martin- at what was once the Bergorrat family cemetery. It is said that on burial, Gros Jean’s body was wrapped in flaming red cloth, with a gold crucifix over his forehead, and his mouth filled with rum…Following Gros Jean were other calypsonians like “So-So”, “Papa Couchon”, “Possum”, and “Hannibal the Mulatto”.

The site where Calypso was 'born' were the Covigne caves beneath Begorrat's great house. The network of caves are said to extend all the way to the West coast beach of Macqueripe where Begorrat was rumoured to have run contraband and illegal slaves through. That Calypso was born in a cave is a fascinating Creation Myth. Victor and fellow ACTT board member and Calypso archivist Shawn Randoo made the hike to discover the caves in 2017 and filmed the entire adventure. It will be released as a short film later this year…

Apart from this, many of the modern Calypso Kings also came to reside in Diego- Sparrow, Kitchener, Rudder, Chalkdust- as well as other geniuses of the form- Funny, Brigo, Brother Superior, etc. The first ever Calypso King (1939)- the Growling Tiger- - was born there. Calypso Queen Denise Plummer was also a resident, alongside “Marcia Miranda”, the duo “Regeneration Now” and brass bandleader “Roy Cape”. One of the greatest writers of the Calypso- the late “Winsford Devine” also called Diego home, alongside contemporary voices like Kerwyn Du Bois and Maximus Dan who were born there.

Add to this legendary Pan arranger Clive Bradley and Drew Gonzalves- lead singer/songwriter of the Calypso-based Juno winning group Kobo Town (the Juno is the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy). It is a staggering amount of Legacy names!...To crown it all the largest archive of T&T music and Calypso exists in Diego- the Shawn Randoo collection. This is important as the two largest collections of T&T and Calypso music are both held outside of T&T. The first is located in Alaska with historian and ex-judge Ray Funk.

The second is located in Canada- recently sold by Trini-born Toronto native George Maharaj.

These facts inspired Rubadiri and ACTT to crown the phenomena via a proposal that was supported by the Diego Martin Regional Corporation through then Chairman Hong and the village of Covigne in 2017. Its objectives were, and still are, the activation of a Heritage Hub project and the branding of Diego Martin as the Home of Calypso, on the planet.

The project was advancing on many fronts- but COVID then derailed it…As this is the "Mother of All Carnivals" it was decided to reanimate the project, reassemble the forces, and relaunch the project with a media conference to LAUNCH THE IDEA of DIEGO MARTIN- THE HOME OF CALYPSO.

At the media conference, a timeline was given to realize the first phase of projects in time for Carnival 2024. To facilitate the project a committee made up of the stakeholders has been put together and is expanding. There are reps from the estates of the Kings- Kitch, Sparrow, Rudder, etc; Shawn Randoo the kaiso historian; representatives of the Covigne people; the Diego Martin Carnival Committee; Akins Vidale- a professor from the Cipriani Labour College (born in Covigne); other Diego non-Calypso VIPs; and members of the Artists’ Coalition of Trinidad & Tobago.

At the Heart of all this, of course, is the Power and majesty of the thing called Calypso, which has changed the world and lives profoundly. The aim of the Heritage Hub project is to create entrepreneurial hubs based around profound Heritage Sites.

These sites are compelling destinations which should house multi-media Museums. Around this you then add the agricultural produce of the region, its culinary skills, its cultural practitioners and talents, its artisans, its tech, and its entrepreneurs- small, medium, and large.

ACTT believes that the ‘Diego Martin- Home of Calypso’ project will be a prototype of such citizen-led initiatives to transform declining communities.The committee is actively looking for private and public sector partners for the project which visualises a one year timeline for the first phase of the re-branding.

The projects include:

1. Designating the Begorrat Caves a National Heritage Site and creating an international hiking trail destination with multiple lookout points. A project for the clearing and mapping of the caves at the top of Covigne exists and awaits partners.

2. Another project involves creating heritage markers for the front of all the Homes of the Kings and other calypso sites in Diego- like Sparrow’s Hideaway, Kitchener’s Rain-O-Rama; the grave of Gros Jean, the homes of Superior, etc.

3. A low hanging fruit project involves the creation of murals all over the soon-to.be-borough with a specific one prescribed for Covigne itself.

4. Another project involves a possible creation of a Diego Martin and Calypso multi-media museum out of the current Water Wheel Heritage Site and the designing of an outdoor stage at the Water Wheel, itself which is a natural ampitheatre.

5. Holding all the multiple Heritage locations together will be the creation of a tourist guide map of the area by the committee.

6. Finally the branding exclamation mark would be the creation of a billboard at the entrance of Diego proclaiming ‘‘Welcome to DIEGO MARTIN- THE HOME OF CALYPSO!’’

7. A Diego Martin Calypso Heritage Festival would be the final goal, possibly twinned with the historic Pigeon Peas Festival run by members of the Covigne community.Its aim is to eventually attract up to 100,000 unique domestic and overseas visitors to Diego Martin annually in the first instance- as well as other forms of tourism.

This project could change the fate and face of Diego for the better and release multi-million dollar entrepreneurial multipliers in the community. It could assist in the rehabilitation of collapsing hillside communities and delinquent boys. The project also envisages the establishment of vinyl record shops, a record-pressing plant, and internet radio stations as outcomes. Ultimately the ‘Home of Calypso’ project would contribute toward generating and circulating millions of dollars in foreign exchange within Diego Martin, surrounding communities, and Trinidad & Tobago as a whole.

Ruby animal wandering willows

It can be easily identified by its straight spike of white-pink flowers and kidney-shaped leaves covered in a waxy layer-no other plant in the park has this combination of characteristics. Grizzly bears love to frequent these shrub-covered landscapes for bearflowers, also known as Richardson’s brookfoam ( Boykinia richardsonii). Leatherleaf is commonly found here, and the white-crowned sparrow can be seen foraging for insects and seeds on the ground and from branches of the shrubs. Settled between the alpine zone and boreal forests, shrubs are around 20 to 150 cm tall. This indicates that soils also have more moisture in this landcover type. Tussocks are areas of raised solid ground in bogs that are held together by root systems, and are common here. The last type of low shrub landcover is mixed with sedges. Upland sandpipers and moose will also make appearances as they scavenge for berries and food. Dwarf birch is the most common plant here, along with crowberries and labrador tea, which are pictured in the quilt. Blueberry patches can be scattered among the shrubs.Īnother low shrub landcover is mixed with ericaceous willow and sits below the alpine zone and above the boreal forest, most commonly on slopes of foothills and broad valleys. This landscape is almost completely covered in shrubs, most of which American dwarf birch. They are also known for having different song “dialects” based on where they are from. Though it spends its summer in northern habitats such as Alaska, these sparrows migrate south for the winter. The white-crowned sparrow is well-known for whistling and buzzing through the low vegetation. Grasses and sedges such as cow parsnip and bluejoint grass can also be found here. This landcover type is most frequently found around mid-elevation alluvial stream deposits and near small streams, making dispersal of seeds easy. Willows are insect- (often bumblebee-) pollinated and produce a large amount of seeds which are dispersed by wind and water. Six species of willows dominate the overstory of willow landscapes, including the Alaska willow. Green false hellebore and devil’s club are two other plants that can be found in the understory here. This allows alders to grow in less fertile habitats because they are able to take up more nutrients from the soil. The alder plant forms a team with bacteria in the soil-called a symbiotic relationship-in order to take nitrogen from the ground instead of the air. In fact, over ¾ of the plants found in this landcover type are alder species! This genus ( Alnus spp.) is special because it has the ability to fixate nitrogen. Steep rocky slopes made up of glacial sediment can be found throughout the park, creating prime habitat for various species of alder shrubs. Lady slipper orchids and dwarf dogwoods can be found scattered throughout the understory. Black spruce trees Found at lower elevations north of the Alaska Range, soils are cold and poorly drained with abundant permafrost. It was also historically used to treat ailments such as asthma, diarrhea, pneumonia, sore throats, and headaches, depending on the region of the country. Bog Labrador tea leaves were even used by Native Americans across the country. Plants like bog blueberry and labrador tea dominate this landscape, filling the air with fragrances. Alluvial fans-or cone-shaped deposits of gravel-and outwash-floodplains created by rivers offer excellent conditions for this landcover type.Ī stroll through the stunted spruce forest is certainly a feast for the nose. Red-backed voles and lynx can also be found wandering through the black spruce, labrador tea, and alders. Flashes of red feathers through the air offer clues of ruby-crowned kinglets and white winged crossbills, collecting insects and conifer seeds, respectively, in this more open forest. Frequently fires sweep across this landscape, but fire can help release seeds from black spruces’ semi-serotinous cones. In contrast to the dense spruce, trees in open spruce forests usually only grow around 7.5 meters tall. In the spring, male black-capped chickadees bring food back to the female and young and on the south side of the Alaska Range black bears roam the forests with their cubs. White and black spruce dig plant their roots into the sandy soil and dominate the densely-forested landscape, where the trees can be over 20 meters tall! Tamaracks and shrubs such as alders and willows grow wherever sunlight comes through.

How many people can say that their father is the fallen angel Azazel? Well, only three can - only thing is - only two knows Azazel is their father. Astrid Waters - the fallen’s youngest - does not know her biological father for reasons she’s still unsure of. Though she trusts there is a reason her mother, Ginevra Waters, has been keeping her father’s identity a secret as well as if she has any other brothers and sisters on her father’s side. Everything about her father was a complete mystery to the young girl. She was raised by her mother and the King of Wonderland, Asher Cooke, and while she loves Asher for he is the only father figure she really has ever had - she also craved to know her biological father and as she got older it got harder and harder to hide her interest in him. Though can you really blame the girl? Being kept in the dark of what the other half of you really is., but out of the love and respect for her mom - she refrained from asking anymore questions about him. Still, that didn’t mean she completely gave up on trying to find out who exactly he is. You see, Astrid isn’t any regular girl trying to look for the missing half of who she is - she is a water nymph from Wonderland and it helped that her “step-father” was the most beloved king the land has had yet, so she had endless supplies for research at her disposal. At first she believed that she had gotten something - a mad man by the nickname of “MadHatter” wrote stories and even though some stories didn’t make complete sense - it was still a good way of reading Asher Cooke’s story. Afterall every King or Queen of Wonderland had their own stories told - and from what she gathered, her mother was pregnant with her just before Asher became the King. However, that’s where she hit a dead end. Comparing her mother’s stories on the books she’s read on Asher’s reign, Asher and Ginevra only got romantically involved after he became the king. It felt as if she had to start from square one again - but really all she really had to do was backtrack a few months of who was in her mother’s life. What better way of getting dirty deets on your parents then from your parents best friends? Luckily for the young girl - her mother’s best friend is her “step-father’s” personal guard, Aradan.

Argo, Aradan lead her down a semi-different path, he gave her the name that was related to the mad hatter, the mad hatter’s son, Alistair White, to be exact and go figure - even he wrote stories of his own. Unluckily - unlike his father, his stories weren’t for the public’s and just for his own personal use. Once again the young nymph hit a dead end, one she was convinced that the universe was telling her to give it a rest. The search for her father was dreadful and there were times when she prayed for her mom to tell her the truth - to at the very least give her his name. Don’t get her wrong, she loves Asher Cooke dearly as well as her half brothers Skye and Sparrow...and even Briar - though she could never live the feeling of not belonging to that family down, and just when she honestly believed that she would have no more leads the day of helping her mom get ready for work proved that the universe was actually working in her favor. A few weeks from when she had truly given up, she was helping her mom prepare for a long shift at work when she happened to look in the right direction of her bedside table that had a dark brown leather journal on it. The journal itself caught her eye but what really drew her in was the carved letters that was in the bottom middle of the journal, words that read - This journal belongs to: Alistair White . Before her mom noticed, she snatched it. Ginevra Waters is a physician at the local infirmary so normally she would spend most of her days there and leave the babysitting to Astrid and Briar due to Asher running a land. So, she had a few days to read through this journal, and maybe a few others, before her mother had noticed it was really missing.

Skye and Sparrow are easily entertained and Briar...well was Briar, and King Asher was off dealing with king things - hence this was the perfect time in reading through the journal that was so perfectly left for her...on her mother’s bedside table. Hey - when you’re desperate, you are desperate.

At first the journal just mentioned the man’s journeys and different cultures in the land’s hidden mountains and lands that outstretched past the mountains. Astrid was truly captivated by the man’s words and his adventures that she temporarily forgot why she was reading the man’s private thoughts until she read, “...reminded me of a blonde hair, blue eyes nymph beauty.” . Sure, it was long fetched but why else would her mom have his journal, a journal that described two of her mother’s features. However, after that small mention - he never mentioned her again and the frustration picked up again but this time she wasn’t going to give up. She felt too close to give up now, so, she set up a movie both her younger brothers likes and raced back into her mother’s room - placed the journal back where she found it and went through her mom’s books - picking out the journals that looked the same. However, no journal held anything she wanted to read - something that lead to her father’s identity, though she wasn’t going to give this up so easily. Astrid had a strong feeling that there could be a strong possibility that Alistair White is her biological father but she needed proof of such.

Working for Wonderland’s local journalist helped the struggling girl in a way, for she had access to records of everyone who has ever lived in Wonderland. Even those who came from a different place and stumbled down the rabbit hole into Wonderland; and every Wonderland borns that escaped the land to another world . She just had to get clearance from her boss to go through the records, which she got and it was the home stretch from there.

The amount of excitement going through Astrid Waters that there was a possibility that she was so close to finding her father was a folder away, was indescribable that when she discovered that Alistair had left Wonderland, and her mother behind on Wonderland just 4 months before Ginevra could be pregnant with Astrid. Now that moment - that was nearly defeating, it at least explained why her mother possessed the man’s journals. Maybe it was just because she wanted to know who her father was that she jumped at the possibility that another man in her mother’s life was her biological father; and while it did seem like White had a romantic relationship with her mom - it never really went further than hand holding and kissing. Or so Astrid could prove. Just because of the story she told her boss, she needed to keep with the lie so she doesn’t get fired so - instead of investigating local Wonderlanders that double looked her mom, she looked at people that came from the other world. It was a broad search but really there wasn’t a long list of other world victors coming and staying in Wonderland long enough - expect one guy. One that caught Astrid’s attention, a man that was described as a no name, tall and skinny, dark hair, blue eyes male. There was no clear record of him coming through Wonderland’s “rabbit hole” , really the only record of him was just saying that he was seen on the Hospital the day of a boy’s miracle recovery. It was a longshot but it was something to investigate.

Leading the trail she vaguely found on the no named man, she investigated the boy who was now in his 30s living a perfectly healthy life. Though the day he got his life back was the same day his father had passed away and was orphaned. Though as the story proceeded on the man didn’t fail to mention that his nurse was brilliant and was promoted to the highest physician’s position, however she never took credit for his recovery. When she asked who the nurse was - she was not expecting the man to say, “Ginevra Waters.”. That was when she realized what she had to do from there - go through the hospital records...without getting caught by her mother.

That investigation proved to be more useful than any other research she’s done, for she found records of the no named man who she now has a vague photograph of, is in fact her biological father. She knows what her father looks like but still not his name, still till this day Astrid Waters struggles to find her father’s name and to find him - but what she knows now at 21 is so much more than what she did know when she was 16, when she first started looking for him by herself. Now she knows not only what he looks like but that he was no longer in Wonderland - so, while still keeping the family she grew up with, especially her mom, in the dark; she also goes from Wonderland to the other world in hopes of finding the other half of her. One she still dreads in meeting

♢ Ginevra Waters — Astrid adores her family, though with the big secret her mom is keeping about her real dad - she can't help but feel as if he truly doesn't belong to this family. She will always love them, especially her mom, but she can't lie and say the longer she spends at school and away from her mom - the more she feels a bond between them break. ♢ Asher Cooke — Still not sure if Asher legally adopted Astrid, or just simply helped her mom raise her as his own. No matter which it was, Astrid loves him like her real father, but she still craves to find out who her biological father really is and why he didn't stick around. ♢ Briar Cooke — Briar and Astrid weren't that far apart in age, but Briar is still the oldest in the Cooke/Waters family. Even though these two don't share the same blood, they still behave and treat the other as siblings. ♢ Skye & Sparrow Cooke — The youngest in the family and the only children between Asher Cooke and Astrid's mom. The twins weren't born too far away from Astrid. In fact all four kids grew up extremely close together. Though as Astrid grew up and became more involved in school, the more she could feel like the Cooke/Waters family is one she doesn't fit in any longer. ♢ Kalyan — The other Half, Older Brother to Astrid. Though these two never officially meet, Kalyan did try to kill her when she was a baby due to their father's neglect. Astrid still isn't aware that she has another brother, let alone one that tried to kill her when she was little and defenseless. ♢ Azazael — The unknown biological father. The more she grew up, the more she could feel a sense of darkness come over her and even though she wasn't sure where it was coming from, she knew that it had to have come from her father's side. Considering her mother was too much of the light. The stronger the darkness became, the more she began her secret search for her father.
